Now this is quite surprising. Has KyoAni ever had two series announced ahead of time at the same time? I can only assume that they're both one cour shows, and that they won't air in the same season. But hey, I'm happy. =D It seems to have won some Kyoto Animation prize, the reward for which I guess is getting it animated?

It could also be an OVA of course. I was trying to look on the website for info on format but oh my god it's so slow I give up.

Well, this sure is a surprise, I will hope for the best, that this will be a full series, not only an OVA. Time will tell...would be great if we can fast forward time!

Another one? How very unlike them. Well I'm all for it. Two of them increases the chances of one of them being great, although I'm not sure what I'll think of either of these based on these brief plot summaries. At any rate, they're both sure to look great. I wonder if Ishihara will get this one. That would probably be nice.

The site, like many when an announcement of this type occurs, is being hit by many people both in and outside of Japan. Best to wait until later today to try and see the video.

I remember in 2008 you had K-On!, the New Haruhi Suzumiya animation, and Haruhi-chan announced at the same time. I'm not sure if Mundo's movie was announced then, but Clannad ~After Story~ was also airing as well, so it was quite busy at KyoAni. As a side note, they were finishing storyboards for The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya at that time as well.

The story won the "encouragement award," but even the "grand prize" doesn't guarantee that it would be animated. Given that this series is the only one thus far to get a second novel, it's no surprise that they chose to animate this one. They don't specify that it's a TV series and just say "in process of animating", so it may be a movie or OVA.

It sounds interesting to me, but I like these kinds of shows.

Chuunibyou is not exactly my thing. Not that I've liked much of what KyoAni has done as of late. The art is cute, at least. Although, I expect the pink-haired girl to be alternate girl who has no chance.

I'd be surprised if it needed to "be your thing". I'd rather expect it to be something the show pokes fun at (like with Kuroneko in OreImo or Kobato in Haganai) , rather than the show itself being particularly chuunibyou.

It's pretty interesting that KyoAni is doing something like this. I'm not so sure it's my cup of tea, but we will see how they handle this.

Today, KyoAni opened a special website (http://www.anime-chu-2.com/) for the anime version of Chuunibyou. It reveals the anime design of Rikka Takanashi, our main heroine in this story. The background says "Break open reality!" and begins a countdown with 5. Looks like we'll see something next week.

The official twitter account (https://twitter.com/#!/anime_chu_2) is also open, and the hashtag for the series is "#chu2koi". Both tweets are the site being open, the hashtag, and wondering what the 5 is for.

Thanks to Yaraon/2ch, we have more details. Chuunibyou will be a TV series. The supervisor will be Tatsuya Ishihara, the supervisor of the Key works and the Haruhi series. Series composition will be done by Jukki Hanada, who composed the Nichijou and Steins;Gate anime adaptations last spring. Chief Animation Director/Character Designs: Kazumi Ikeda, the Chief character designer/animation director for the Key works and animation director for shows like Haruhi. Background art, as always, is supervised by Mutsuo Shinohara.

My guess: we'll see this on the air in Fall 2012.

I really like the designs, but something about the designs doesn't look like typical Kyoto Animation design. I can't quite place what it is. But, again, I do like the designs a lot.

Anyway the staff makes this look very promising. I'm curious if Kyoto Animation can pump out two works in a year.

The only staff Chuunibyou shares in common with Hyouka is the person in charge of background art/painting. In fact, the other three have not been shown to work on Hyouka in any part thus far. I was vastly curious what Ishihara and Ikeda were doing since Nichijou. Given the promotional imagery seen thus far, Fall seems like a very safe bet.

Good, I'd hate to see KyoAni's and Ishihara Tatsuya's talents wasted on an OVA.

Would be nice for it to start in fall though it seems like KyoAni has been having breaks between shows. Maybe that's just because they've had movies to work on, whether Shoushitsu or K-ON!. Should be Fall or Winter at any rate, especially since the staff differs from Hyouka.

I knew that Ishihara and Ikeda weren't doing anything on Hyouka, but what I figured was that Kyoto Animation is a studio which tends not to work on two series' at a time, but when I think about it they've kinda always worked on two things at once. Be it the K-ON! Movie and Hyouka or K-ON!! and The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. Well I imagine they were working on those at the same time as they're all fairly close to each others release.

But yeah I don't disagree that Fall seems real likely now.

I think there were a few factors in play recently. They've done back-to-back shows previously, but the situations didn't work out for Nichijou to air immediately after K-On!!. The mangaka was drawing comics that were animated a few weeks later during the final episodes, so they had to wait for more material in that instance. Movies, like you said, were the primary cause of the break between summer 2009 and spring 2010 and summer 2011 and spring 2012.

Given the countdown on the official site (5-> 4 today), the magazine spread in Newtype, and the staff not involved in Hyouka (plus the unconfirmed rumor that KyoAni was nearly 6 episodes ahead of airing for Hyouka) would really signal to a Fall airing. We wouldn't be seeing copyright illustrations in July for a January show, would we?

Edit: ANN's summary back in December was horribly incorrect. Here's a slightly altered back-cover text from the first novel
Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai! is a romantic comedy featuring Yuuta Togashi and Rikka Takanashi. Yuuta previously suffered from chuunibyou, or "8th grade sickness," a disorder where the patient believes they have superpowers and pretends to save the world. During his final year in middle school, he focused on studying and was cured. Now in his first year of high school, he finds himself entered into a contract with Rikka, an infected chuunibyou patient. How will the former patient and the infected patient co-exist?

A quick correction in regards to the staff. Kazumi Ikeda has actually been working on Hyouka since it began airing. In fact, she was the assistant AD in the most recently aired episode (11).

You're probably thinking of her sister, Shouko Ikeda (Haruhi Character Designer), who has yet to have been credited on Hyouka. On a side note, today's Encouragement Illustration (http://www.kyotoanimation.co.jp/books/chuunibyo/comment/) is by Shouko Ikeda. It definitely has a bit of a Haruhi feel if you ask me.

Yes, that was the Ikeda I mentioned in my post because I was curious what she and Ishihara were up to. When I say it has "no staff involved," I meant no "main staff." Kazumi Ikeda was the animation director for episode 4 as well and has worked in other episodes/OP too. Shouko Ikeda has been a mystery lately.

Ah, I see. And indeed Shouko has been a mystery lately. Although I do seem to recall that she mentioned she was beginning work on Hyouka on Kyoani's staff blog recently. So maybe we'll see something from her before that show ends.

In regards to Chuunibyou, I find the staff setup quite interesting. This is basically Kyoani's standard Key anime staff formation, minus Fumihiko Shimo. I'd imagine that if Key was able to get it's act together and book Kyoani however many years ago, we'd be seeing this group working on a Little Busters adaptation right now rather than Chuuni. It will be interesting to see the fan response to this show with that in mind.

As for me personally, I can't wait to see more. The key visuals shown so far look fantastic. And I fully trust Ishihara and Kyoani to put out an awesome show.

I'm actually surprised that Kyoto Animation turned down Little Busters!, though I guess working on Key titles for years your entire staff would end up getting tired of working on very similar projects and not expanding their business. I forget if it was just a rumour or if it was Key themselves who said Kyoto Animation turned down Little Busters! in response to all of the JC Staff backlash but it's not every day that you hear about a studio turning down work, especially a title as big as Little Busters!

Anyway, the reason why I was surprised is because their Key adaptations seem to be their best sellers. I hope Chuunibyou is just as successful. It could be competing with Little Busters! for all we know, though I doubt Little Busters! will air in the fall.

It was Baba who said in an interview (http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=425425) that KyoAni was too busy to work on Little Busters since After Story ended. Since then, they've had the K-On! explosion, which eroded any support Key would have from TBS/Pony Canyon for more Key works. The other production company KyoAni works with, Kadokawa, was busy with Nichijou and Hyouka. The KyoAni Board of Directors probably decided to make one of their LNs into an anime (that being this one) to promote that portion of their company. They've been too busy for Little Busters since 2009.

The Key works sold very well, but not as much as K-On!, Haruhi, or Lucky Star, so it's not a surprise to see them downgraded when you had big selling titles (30,000+ average) in comparison (prior to their latest TV series, which were Kadokawa and Key wouldn't be considered with that committee). The other issue is that Pony Canyon produced all the K-On! music. Key was in charge of all 4 series's music sales, so that revenue stream for Pony would be taken away again. It just wasn't looking good for Key to have that series animated, and so they went with another committee instead.

As for sales, we'll just have to wait and see. Assuming that this show will be 1-cour, this will be the first 1-cour show for KyoAni since K-On! (truly)/Haruhi (disc-wise) in 2009. With only 6/7 discs, I think the chances of it selling well are very high without Kadokawa to muck it up. I also feel the main heroine could easily drive sales, but this is all speculation/personal feelings. Time will tell.

That's really interesting. It's unfortunate in a weird way. It's fortunate for us because we got several great shows out of it, but Key adaptations were a big thing at the time and then Kyoto Animation blew up with an even bigger title, K-ON!. It's strange to hear "too busy for Key" too.

Though I agree with Baba that a good adaptation of Little Busters! doesn't necessarily lie with Kyoto Animation. I'm sure JC Staff will do a fantastic job. I could name a fair few animation studios and directors which could do a good job of Little Busters! too.

I've never actually thought of the sales of merchandise outside of the show itself. And the music for K-ON! did really well for Pony Canyon for I imagine they'd want to produce the music and sell that aside from having Key sell it because K-ON! proved that music could be just as successful as the show itself. Yeah I've never really thought of the music side of anime production. Maybe I should look more into that.

Ya, as ultimatemegax pointed out, it wasn't so much Kyoani turning down Key as much as it was Kyoani being too busy to work on LB. It was also implied at a Key event (you can find an english report here (http://visualnovelaer.wordpress.com/2011/11/25/vava-answers-why-was-little-busters-never-made-into-an-anime/)) that Key sort of rested on their laurels and simply assumed Kyoani would animate LB and thus did not get any concrete agreement in place. And, as ultimate also pointed out, the K-ON boom helped to ensure that any LB adaptation by Kyoani would be put on the back burner indefinitely.

I think the chances of it selling well are very high without Kadokawa to muck it up.

@ultimatemegax
To your knowledge, has it been confirmed that Kadokawa will not be co-sponsoring this show with Kyoani? If I recall correctly, the last Kyoani original production (Munto) had some Kadokawa backing. If Kadokawa isn't involved, I wonder who will be Kyoani's primary partner for this project. After all, I very highly doubt they will be able to swing the entire cost of a TV series by themselves, timeslot fees and all. They'll also be needing someone to distribute BD/DVD/CD's, of course.

We don't know the composition of the production committee yet. Munto was distributed by Kadokawa and Clockworks, but who knows about this one yet. I'd expect music to be handled by either Lantis/Pony Canyon and BD/DVD distribution by Kadokawa/Pony Canyon too. Timeslots are going to be tricky. But all of that information will come later and we'll be able to know who is involved then.

Rikka is simply moe. I find her character to fit those emotions you feel when you see a moe character. Honestly, I had two characters in mind when translating her dialogue as I felt she fit a mix of those two. That's all I can say without going into spoilers. Sorry.

Of course, LB! would have been guaranteed at least 15k, something they haven't gotten anywhere near with Nichijou or even Hyouka. Granted, while Nichijou was an unambiguous bomb, Hyouka is doing much better - over 8k Vol. 1 once we get next week's data and huge huge boosts to the original novel sales. But

I know it's too early to speculate sales on a show that doesn't exist yet but I would be surprised if Chuunibyou did much if any better than Hyouka.

Though honestly, I don't mind. I love everything they've done, whether 40k sellers (Haruhi, K-ON!) or totally unranked bombs (SoraAge). If they only wanted to follow the easy money, they know what to do... more Lucky Star, more Haruhi, more K-ON!. All of which I'd love, but I don't mind getting something else.

Granted I'm oversimplifying to call these KyoAni decisions... they're not the only or even biggest actor.

Right as we're all praising Tatsuya Ishihara. And the guy who did series composition for Steins;Gate, my #3 top anime? And some more Haruhi staff? That's quite the combination. And it's confirmed to be a TV series, probably right as Hyouka wraps up. It may not be as good as Little Busters! being adapted by KyoAni with Ishihara directing, but if we get a Little Busters! anime and a KyoAni/Ishihara series in the same season, that will probably be the next best thing. And while I was hoping the Steins;Gate staff would do Robotics;Notes, that could be the same thing, with the guy who did the series composition doing the same on this while a Robotics;Notes anime also airs. This and Little Busters! are both unconfirmed for fall airings, but if both are true, that will be quite the season.

Here's a summary of the Ishihara interview from Newtype:

There's a lot of original components in this series
They're only using the first novel as a base. There's not enough to animate by itself, thus they're adding to the story
While the setting is fictional, they did some location scouting somewhere. Maybe the identity will come out soon.
There's a surprise planned like Haruhi's shuffling episodes
While Yuuta has already been cast, they're still auditioning for the female cast. They wanted new talent in this one.

One mild spoiler comment that wouldn't fit in the format (deals with types of scenes like classroom, clubroom, etc):
There's a lot of inside-school scenes in the novel. They'll be putting some outside scenes in the anime ver.

I think the chances of it selling well are very high without Kadokawa to muck it up.

For some reason, probably because of the way Kadokawa handled the publishing of the last two shows, I chuckled at the statement jokingly thinking, "Just watch Kadokawa release the the show over 12-13 1-episode volumes."

I'm partial to number 4 myself. It has that dark sensual look combined with the Devlish Truth Stare.

Here's a translation of the staff comments. I translated it before going back to sleep and gave it a once-over, so it's not bad, but not my best work either.
When I was a middle schooler, the phrase "chuunibyou" (8th grade sickness) wasn't around. At the same time, those same feelings were felt amongst us.

When I recall my own middle school experience.... ha, all I can do is laugh at myself. I didn't personally write this story, but it feels like something I would tell.

Of course, when you reach "middle age," things like chuunibyou become a bit trite. It's what happens to you when you're in puberty.

If I were to handle this work seriously, it would become a dark tale. However, this story isn't like that, so I tried to make it comedical.

I thought I had said "good-bye" to that middle schooler me, but I'm having to say "hello" once more. I think I can paint that radiant lifestyle again in the present day.

What?! You didn't realize that I've got my own talent like yours? You don't know my name either? That's fine, I'm the dark pen-to-paper guy, Jukki Hanada.

I handled the architecture of this story. What does that mean?.....hehehehe..... You sure you want to know? Wind a bit much? Air feeling tight? This is only the prelude to what's about to happen. Everyone should pay attention after this! Look at everything! Perceieve it! Be amazed! Get angry! Laugh! And then you'll cry!

Huh? What's this on my right hand? This is the compulsion of the Devlish Truth Stare!!!!!!! No!!!!! What am I saying????????

Edit: "Story" and "Character Bios":
After many many years, the Dark Ages have finally ended. Yuuta looked forward to having peaceful days ahead of him. But one day, his right arm began to act strangely. The Dark Flame Dragon that was sealed inside began to thrash around. The only explanation: it was resonating with the Devilish Truth Stare.

"The contract binding you to me is complete."

Yuuta came into contact with a girl. It was her Devilish Truth Stare that resonated with everyone.

Yuuta Togashi:
The Dark Flame Master. Before resonating, he sealed the Dark Flame Dragon within him. He has been forced into a contract with the user of the Devilish Truth Stare, Rikka Takanashi.

Rikka Takanashi:
The user of the Devilish Truth Stare. After many years had passed, she is finally reunited with the Dark Flame Master.

The official site updated today with two more staff comments (http://www.anime-chu-2.com/comment/) and a reorganization of the character design (http://www.anime-chu-2.com/character/) page to be more in line with that of Hyouka's.

Chuunibyou has arrived!
Seeing is believing, destroying an adolescent moonless dawn, and with troublesome, diverse, active, electronic imagery, Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai! will begin this fall.
This story will depict the troublesome storms of love occurring around these dastardly youths.
The entire story is chuuni! Chuuni! CHUUNI!
The youths crave the angry storms of love.
Will these boys and girls, who suffer the eternal shame of chuunibyou, reach ecstasy?
This project's designs will be a tenacious banquet that will stimulate your hunger.
Don't miss Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai!

To my knowledge, this is the first time I've written a comment.
I can't speak... nothing's coming to mind...
Perhaps you know about this now. That this world has darkness people go to...the kind that is sealed away....that flickers the moment people arrive there.
What was stored in there, an "ancient dark hidden snake", is still insufficient.
If it's used well, perhaps the next world could be changed...Don't try to come back to life!
A new challenge, a new energy, a transcendent glance. The time of awakening is near...
There's so many things I want you to know.
At the time you see it, I'm sure you'll recognize the godly theme as being in a fugue state.
May God protect you. Don't think, feel.

Also, the scans from the magazines contain some information that is spoilerish. I've translated some of it, but I may take liberties with how I translate to avoid anything that would spoil a non-novel reader while increasing anticipation for the show. It won't be anything major, but I wanted to notify the people reading the thread who can read Japanese and would go "That's not what it said!"

(Translating those comments is straining. It's not my best work, but I think you'll get the gist of it. It's rather nonsensical to me.)

Just for your information.
Ikeda Kazumi's comment is a parody of old-fashioned advertisements.
'波乱' is, in this case, 'eventful', rather than 'troublesome'.
'断じて「中二病でも変がしたい」には非ず。' is 'It is by no means Chūnibyō Demo 変 ga Shitai,' rather than 'Don't miss Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai!' That is a reference to a novel.

Looking over the PC account, they've retweeted news from other productions, so it might be safe to assume PC will be distributing the BD/DVDs for this show. And probably no ¥9240 discs. Or 11+ volumes if 2 cour. Good.

Not particularly excited about the box though. No KyoAni series has ever had a remotely decent artbox.

Probably. The latest box designs I've seen from them have used the original artist's designs. Iroha, Tari Tari, and Yuru Yuri all used illustrations from the original designer/creator.

What about the Clannad designs? They're not that creative, but the simplistic design looks quite appealing to me. The one used for Endless Eight wasn't too bad either (though I prefer the one Noizi Itou drew for Gamers in 2009 instead). Agreed on the ones for K-On! and Hyouka. I was really depressed at the design for the latter.

I actually really like the Hyouka box. Sure it's a bit simple on the back, but I like the kinda minimalist design. Plus it feels nice.

I don't mind the minimialistic design concept, personally I love the design idea for Toradora!'s BD-Box, I just hate the utter clash between nice illustrated and color-filled image and white background. If the rest of the box had been a secondary color, it would've appealed to me more. It's the opposite for K-On!. Too many random things never go well together.

They're the best of the "no character" boxes but all I see when I look at them is lost opportunity for some amazing Nagisa images. I also don't like how tiny those sets are, but that's a different issue.

The one used for Endless Eight wasn't too bad either (though I prefer the one Noizi Itou drew for Gamers in 2009 instead).
Oh right, the E8 box was very nice. The way the image is oriented relative to the box angles is a little annoying but I like the image. Forgot about that one since it wasn't a full-series v1 box.

It certainly gets credit for actually having characters on it but it's really lazy in my opinion. Image on the front is decent, but then it's just repeated in miniature on the spine (wtf) and then the back is... whatever that is. Wasted space, to me.

On a second look at the box (as I have it displayed with the front cover facing outward) I certainly agree that the spine is pretty damn lazy.

I like the back of the cover, but what I would've liked more is that the front cover is exactly what it is now, Houtarou and gang, but the image wrapped around the box. Say the image of the club walking is taken from further back and the path they're walking down was a landscape shot which wrapped around the box. I think that'd be really nice.

Upon further investigation I think Clannad did something like that (http://ec2.images-amazon.com/images/I/51cxhtMkB1L.jpg), but I think that wasn't a wrap around that was just the cover image?

That's one of the individual DVD case covers, and yes I think those were wraparound.

The Clannad BD boxed had really amazing wrap-around imagines on the digipaks but you dont see them thanks to the bland artboxes. The other problem with the nice digipak images is how very small the physical dimensions of the set are, which makes picking details out from more than a few feet away difficult even if you do try to display the digipak cover on your shelves, outside of the box.

Maybe! But I do actually genuinely like the movie box. If only because it's London and I live in the UK. Not many anime take such pride in the location in which they're set in.

Definitely no all-star cast here. I had to look up every one of them. I don't think I had to do that for anyone in Hyouka important enough to be announced before the airing. I hope they can prove themselves. The last one in particular has apparently only had 2 anime roles, both from this year, but both major ones.

KyoAni (and Ishihara in particular) wanted new voices for this series. I personally think that they didn't want anyone being typecast like the enormous returning cast in Hyouka. This allows people to focus on the characters and not the seiyuu. I've actually not heard any of the cast, but given that they auditioned from at least mid-late June (to record Newtype interview) until announcing it now, they've taken their time listening to people.

Ah, I figured it must be something like that (since they obviously have the budget for just about anyone they'd want). I've heard major roles for the first three (Mouretsu for the first two, also Sacred Seven for the second, and Lagrange for the third), but none of that was enough for me to think what they sound like (although I'll probably pay attention to the voice of the Lagrange character now). Well I have faith in their choices, then. There aren't many bigger all-stars than the Haruhi cast, and some of them weren't very well-known before that (although probably not this level; that wasn't really something I was paying attention to). At any rate, this surely won't be the hit that Haruhi was, but I hope it can be a breakout show for these seiyuu. And then after a few years Ishihara will have to avoid casting them because he made them too big. :P

Also, it's interesting that two anime-original characters have their seiyuu announced along with two characters from the source material. I wonder how major they'll be. It seems like I always hear about KyoAni adhering extremely closely to their source material, so it would surprise me if they made up new characters to add to the lead cast. Also, the main characters are Rikka and a male, right? I wonder why they decided not to announce the seiyuu of the male lead despite announcing the seiyuu for three (presumably) less major characters. Just wanted to have girl time for now?

A certain little KyoAni show about a light music club took a gamble on some near-unknowns named Hikasa Youko, Kotobuki Minako, Taketatsu Ayana, and Satou Satomi. (Toyosaki Aki was slightly more experienced, but not much more than, say, Uchida Maaya here).

Hirano Aya and Chihara Minori only had a handful of roles each before being Haruhi and Yuki in 2006. They just seem like superstars in retrospect, but they certainly weren't big name seiyuu at the time.

It's just a thing KyoAni does sometimes.

As for Chuu2byou seiyuu - I was already familiar with Uesaka Sumire's name as Sora in Papakiki (and because some seiyuu image blog things I follow are really into her) but that's more or less all she's done besides a one-shot in SenColle. I liked Sora's voice though, so there's some promise.

Uchida Maaya had a leading role as Rea in Sankarea, so I look forward to seeing what she can do in a more high profile show.

Akasaki Chinatsu I really liked as Yasuna in Kill Me Baby, even if the show itself didn't really keep me around. Her performance was one of my favorites that season, so I expect really great things here. I hope her character gets to show off Akasaki's comedic timing.

Asakura Azumi is the seiyuu who replaced Ochiai Yurika as Yukiho for iDOLM@STER 2. She hasn't done much else that's major, but she has a very plaintive voice, which can work depending on the character - but it'd be neat if she plays something totally unlike that too.

Honestly, I'm at least familiar with all four of them (know at least one major role for each, some two). I've found Akasaki's roles pretty fun (couldn't get into Kill Me Baby, but she had a great voice for her role there, and "this isn't an anime" girl from Symphogear is memorable) so happy to see her have a seemingly major one here.

I think Gotou Yuuko was somewhat obscure too as an anime VA too. She was mostly a game voice actress before then, I'd say, and a few of her major roles in anime were adaptations of such (though I think the Shuffle adaptation made her pretty noteworthy) Looking at Ono Daisuke's roles, he had a lot of stuff before Air but they mostly look like episodic or incidental roles. It's interesting realizing there was a few years early on there where even he was obscure...

Given the promotional art, Rikka, Nibutani, and Kumin should've been announced. The absence of Yuuta is interesting as per the Newtype article, he was cast prior to the female cast. I imagine he'll be announced later this week in either magazine leaks or through the PV at Comiket. The site could also update and mention him and the male sidekick Isshiki too.

To be honest, only the Lucky Star, Hyouka, and perhaps Kanon cast were known prior to their airings. The other KyoAni shows featured lesser-known seiyuu (often thought of cutting costs there, but no validity to that rumor).

Regarding source material, this is going to have quite a lot of anime-original material. They're adapting a 327 pg novel into one anime, so there has to be a lot of anime-original material. I can easily attest that the information in last month's magazine scans/interviews mentions a lot of pieces that are different from the novel. The most apparent (that I can mention) is the variety of scenery. The novel has a majority of scenes of indoors, yet three of four promotional images take place outside.

As for Chuu2byou seiyuu - Uchida Maaya had a leading role as Rea in Sankarea, so I look forward to seeing what she can do in a more high profile show.
I hate to put pressure on anyone, but this anime is likely going to depend on her performance. Rikka is going to be a challenging role to play just on her character alone, but to be the main focus adds to that challenge. I have faith in the direction to have chosen someone that will live up to that challenge. I really look forward to hearing her speak.

Akasaki Chinatsu I really liked as Yasuna in Kill Me Baby, even if the show itself didn't really keep me around. Her performance was one of my favorites that season, so I expect really great things here. I hope her character gets to show off Akasaki's comedic timing.Akasaki has an interesting character too. Nibutani is a complex character, but isn't that challenging to play. I hope her chemistry with Uchida is strong.

Asakura Azumi is the seiyuu who replaced Ochiai Yurika as Yukiho for iDOLM@STER 2. She hasn't done much else that's major, but she has a very plaintive voice, which can work depending on the character - but it'd be neat if she plays something totally unlike that too.
I've only been able to read one feature on Kumin, so I can't attest fully to her character. She's been described as carefree, so hopefully Asakura can bring that to life.

I like having unknown voices so that I can focus on their character, not the person voicing them. Sometimes it's a bit difficult in Hyouka to think of the character and not someone else they've been. I can't wait to hear these four (and Yuuta) in action.

Gotou had been doing seiyuu work for a long time before Haruhi (1999 at least) which id probably why I didn't mention her, but certainly thery weren't always big roles. Not until, as you note, Kaede in Shuffle.

Ono D... it's so hard to imagine a time when he wasn't in everything, isn't it? Seems like he was a known entity to KyoAni though, since he did Yukito in Air the year before.

I feel really bad for the Nichijou seiyuu. Some of them were really new as well, and it has to be the most exciting thing to get cast in a KyoAni show of all things for your break-out... ...and then it turns into one of their exceedingly rare flops. Drives me extra nutty because they were so goddamn good in it.

Hell it's a double gut punch for Aizawa Mai. She was lead in SoraAge too. KyoAni's only two TV anime flops ever and she's a lead role in both. She must be cursed. And her role in Lucky Star was the character who everyone knows as the one who barely got to talk (Ayano). At least she got Minene in Mirai Nikki. God damn that was a good role. By all rights Nichijou should have been a major break-out role for her that lead to other lead roles, but alas.

To be honest, only the Lucky Star, Hyouka, and perhaps Kanon cast were known prior to their airings. The other KyoAni shows featured lesser-known seiyuu (often thought of cutting costs there, but no validity to that rumor).
Well, with all of the Key adaptations, they went the same VA's from the existing games for the most part, and they were mostly well-known seiyuu.

I'd disagree on Lucky Star. Between the main girls (other than Hirano) and several of supporting characters, there were quite a few lesser-known seiyuu at the time in there.

Known by the time of Haruhi, certainly yes. I was mainly referring to him being a lesser-known seiyuu at the time of Air. Yukito is the first bolded anime role for him on Japanese Wikipedia, and lots of roles before then with generic names and single episode precisions on ANN.

Oh right, KyoAni does that all the time...

I guess it's because all their main seiyuu have become big stars, and I've only just recently started follow these kinds of announcements before shows air, making the only KyoAni one... Hyouka. Which is of course "here's a bunch of the biggest names that have already made big splashes in KyoAni shows (and a few that have made big splashes in other big shows)". So having another KyoAni show, one that I'm paying such close attention to because the staff is so notable, announce a bunch of names I had never heard (read) for the cast caught me a little off guard. But no, it really shouldn't. And when he's not adapting Key stuff that already has a cast picked out for him, Ishihara really is a master at finding lesser-known seiyuu to really knock it out of the park. I really should have thought about how I didn't know any of the Nichijou leads at all. Like something said, it really is a tragedy that Nichijou was KyoAni's one flop and those seiyuu didn't get to break out like the rest as a result, because they really offered some of the best performances I've heard in years.

There's a big difference between taking summon unknown and making them a star and taking a known seiyuu in another medium (and/or someone who was still known and had worked for five years but wasn't yet super-popular like Hirano) and making them a star. Specifically, by the time of Haruhi, Gotou was a veteran. Haruhi expanded her career opportunities in anime, but she wasn't inexperienced.

Which is to say, I don't think all of the adaptations had the same level of talent. Particularity, the casting Haruhi was not as risky. Although, if we ignore Munto, until Nichijou casting in anything by KyoAni was not risky (and I have no doubt agencies used this to propel their upcoming talent in stardom).

Completely un-related to the topic at hand, but some posters on 2ch were having fun re-casting FMP and they had the same thought. If he appears in Hyouka's final arc, it'd be the only Kadokawa/KyoAni show he's not appeared in.

Tying it back on-topic, I can't see a role from the novel Ono would fit in, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Shiraishi as Isshiki. That character feels infinitely like Taniguchi.

He's Kobayashi in Fumoffu and Shota Sakamoto in both Fumoffu and TSR. I have no idea who either characters are, but that's what ANN says. So other than K-ON!, which he just wasn't quite female enough for, he appears to be in every completed KyoAni franchise.

EDIT: Oh, and Kanon. That's kind of an important one to forget. I guess that was the only one he easily could have been in but wasn't.

Indeed. I think he was the only one of KyoAni Key adaptation male leads who was a particularly well-known seiyuu when cast. Nakamura Yuuichi seemed to have his big break in anime with the year when Clannad aired (had several lead roles then, like Ikuto in Shugo Chara and others), though he had been active in anime for years. Only thing I knew at the time was that he was Rufus in Valkyrie Profile 2 (which I didn't hear as I've only played the dubbed version of the game).

Never looked up who did her voice. Well, now I know. Not the biggest fan of Sora from the series, so I don't remember too much about her voice. I will though once I get around to watching the OVA.

Uchida Maaya had a leading role as Rea in Sankarea, so I look forward to seeing what she can do in a more high profile show.

Oooh, nice. I really liked her role as Rea (she has the cutest "ehhhh" ever), but I'm curious to hear what voice she would use for Rikka since the two characters are different. Zombie-ojou to Chuunibyou girl? That's different for sure.

Akasaki Chinatsu I really liked as Yasuna in Kill Me Baby, even if the show itself didn't really keep me around. Her performance was one of my favorites that season, so I expect really great things here. I hope her character gets to show off Akasaki's comedic timing.

Not very familiar with Akasaki's roles. But, if Kumin, as ultimatemegax mentions is carefree, I can see Asakura pull it off.

Cast as the lead in Kanon, Haruhi (arguably), and Gintama in the same year. 2006 did not suck for Tomokazu Sugita. But yeah, it seems like the other two didn't have any lead roles until the year they got cast as a KyoAni Key lead, while Sugita had plenty from the previous half a decade, although he got more in that one year than all the previous years combined.

Also, looking at who has worked on the most KyoAni productions, it looks like Hiroyuki Takahashi wins with credits in 21 of 26 anime on ANN. This one is included, as he's one of the people who was on the initial staff reveal. He's only missing Air TV (but not Air In Summer), the Haruhi ONAs, the original Munto OVA, and the Nichijou OVA, but nothing else in any of those franchises. As for cast, I'm pretty sure it's Ono with 12 of 26, but again, that still covers at least one entry in every franchise but Kanon, K-ON!, and so far Hyouka and this.

He probably is in most of those series you mentioned too: it's just that the information is missing on ANN (some of them, the original Munto OVA in particular, look rather barren in terms of staff information). I see Takahashi is one of those that go back to KyoAni's co-production days in the 90's and early 00's. It was interesting seeing some of those familiar KyoAni names in the episodes they worked on in Tenchi Universe and Fancy Lala.

Anyway that was fucking awesome. KyoAni has really branched out, visually, with the multitude of styles used in Nichijou and Hyouka so I expect Rikka's c2b delusions to be varied, gorgeous, and hilarious, even if most of the show will just be people talking. I've been excited for this (and figured I'd like it enought to buy) pretty much purely because its KyotoAnimation and the title and main character design were giving me good vibes. I got this sense that I was going to absolutely love Eyepatch-chan (Rikka?). This trailer basically confirms that. Seeing TBS in there, I guess it's likely they will have the international rights. If so, there probably won't be a speedy simulcast. Ah well... Sanae Dekomori (凸守早苗) (http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg4/ultimatemegax/Dekomori1.jpg):
Rikka Takanashi's only Servant. The user of Mjölnir.
I would like to point out that what's written on the website is best viewed as the story coming from Rikka's point of view. Having said that, on Friday, MyNavi reported (http://news.mynavi.jp/news/2012/08/10/117/) on the anime production and listed an accurate character summary as well as additional character design images for everyone but Rikka. I've placed the images in name links.

Yuuta Togashi (http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg4/ultimatemegax/yuutaup-04.jpg):
This story's protagonist. A punctual, calm, and helpful lad. He's one of those boys doesn't stand out much these days. But to be honest, he suffered from a severe case of chuunibyou when he was in middle school. It was bad enough to drive away his classmates. Given a new chance in his high school career, he sealed away his past and vowed never to be infected again. But now that he's connected to Rikka, will his chuunibyou flare up again?

Rikka Takanashi (CV. Maaya Uchida):
A girl suffering from chuunibyou. A somewhat intense girl who you shouldn't assume can't talk for a while. With her made-up power, the Devilish Truth Stare, she engulfs her surroundings (especially Yuuta). Though she's become attached to Yuuta, she has a severe fear of strangers and adapts a battle pose whenever she meets someone for the first time. Considerably clumsy, she often trips and forgets things.

Shinka Nibutani (http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg4/ultimatemegax/Nibutani2.jpg) (CV. Chinatsu Akasaki):
Yuuta's classmate and class rep. One of the most popular girls in the class due to her looks. Cheerful and diligent, she enjoys taking care of people. Really, she's the leader of the class.

Kumin Tsuyuri (http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg4/ultimatemegax/Kumin2.jpg) (CV. Azumi Asakura):
One year ahead of the others. This possessor of a talent to sleep anywhere always carries a pillow in her bag. She's so carefree that she's able to create a warm, calm atmosphere wherever she goes. She also can invoke a talent "Cell Phone no Cell Phone" that increases the rate of her finding a lost item 7-fold.

Sanae Dekomori (http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg4/ultimatemegax/Dekomori2.jpg) (CV. Sumire Uesaka):
Attracted by Rikka's Devilish Truth Stare, this third year middle schooler serves as Rikka's Servant. Because she's a bit reckless and silly, she often ends up hurting herself. Fallen ill to the same type of chuunibyou Rikka had, she also can go on a rampage greater than any in the rainy season. Naturally, she's a walking annoyance.

Unfortunately, the big Saturday timeslots on MX will be taken by SAO and the arrival of Little Busters! It's better for the stations to spread out bigger shows so everything isn't clumped into 3/4 days like it is for this season. Seriously, outside of Yuruyuri, Summer is Thurs-Sun for the bigger shows and that's being nice to Capone and Accel World on Fridays.

Of course, I'd also imagine that timeslots are cheaper throughout the week than on the weekend, which could be the bigger reason. My big mystery (Houtarou, where are you?!) is why TBS is in the production committee, yet isn't airing it. Perhaps they're handing international rights.

Edit; Ironically, the Tokyo MX timeslot is the same as Hyouka's.

No KyoAni series has ever had a remotely decent artbox.
Sorry to bump this off-topic discussion from a month ago, but I found this design for a Gamers Nichijou box. Somedays you get a magazine briefing. Somedays you get a renovated site (http://www.anime-chu-2.com/). Here's the third key visual (http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg4/ultimatemegax/mainVisual_w.jpg). In addition, they updated the character page with color designs and additional (yet similar) summaries. I've compiled them thus far:

Yuuta Togashi (http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg4/ultimatemegax/yuutacolor1.jpg) (富樫勇太):
This story's protagonist. A punctual, calm, and helpful lad. He's one of those boys doesn't stand out much these days. But to be honest, he suffered from a severe case of chuunibyou when he was in middle school. It was bad enough to drive away his classmates. Given a new chance in his high school career, he sealed away his past and vowed never to be infected again. But now that he's connected to Rikka, will his chuunibyou flare up again?
Chuunibyou description: The Dark Flame Master. Before resonating, he sealed the Dark Flame Dragon within him. He has been forced into a contract with the user of the Devilish Truth Stare, Rikka Takanashi.

Rikka Takanashi (http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg4/ultimatemegax/rikkacolor1.jpg) (小鳥遊六花):
A girl suffering from chuunibyou. A somewhat intense girl who you shouldn't assume can't talk for a while. With her made-up power, the Devilish Truth Stare, she engulfs her surroundings (especially Yuuta). Though she's become attached to Yuuta, she has a severe fear of strangers and adapts a battle pose whenever she meets someone for the first time. Considerably clumsy, she often trips and forgets things.
Chuunibyou description: The user of the Devilish Truth Stare. After many years had passed, she is finally reunited with the Dark Flame Master.

Shinka Nibutani (http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg4/ultimatemegax/nibutanicolor1.jpg) (丹生谷森夏):
Yuuta's classmate and class rep. One of the most popular girls in the class due to her looks. Cheerful and diligent, she enjoys taking care of people. Really, she's the leader of the class.
Chuunibyou description: Holding the opposing power to the Devilish Truth Stare, she fiercely fights with Rikka's Servant. She's loitered around for ages wanting the legacy of the past.

Kumin Tsuyuri (http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg4/ultimatemegax/kumincolor1.jpg) (五月七日くみん):
One year ahead of the others. This possessor of a talent to sleep anywhere always carries a pillow in her bag. She's so carefree that she's able to create a warm, calm atmosphere wherever she goes. She also can invoke a talent "Cell Phone no Cell Phone" that increases the rate of her finding a lost item 7-fold.
Chuunibyou description: A fellow companion to Rikka and Yuuta. She has the possibility to open the door to chaos wherever she goes.

Sanae Dekomori (http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg4/ultimatemegax/dekomoricolor1.jpg) (凸守早苗):
Attracted by Rikka's Devilish Truth Stare, this third year middle schooler serves as Rikka's Servant. Because she's a bit reckless and silly, she often ends up hurting herself. Fallen ill to the same type of chuunibyou Rikka had, she also can go on a rampage greater than any in the rainy season. Naturally, she's a walking annoyance.
Chuunibyou description: Rikka Takanashi's only Servant. The user of Mjölnir.

Yuuta's Mom (http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg4/ultimatemegax/yuutamomcolor01.jpg) (勇太の母):
Yuuta's paternal mother. A woman who goes about the world in her own way, playing with her children. She often leaves the house empty due to how busy her job keeps her. Her husband is working in Jakarta currently.
Chuunibyou description: The person who gave birth to the Dark Flame Master.

Kuzuha Togashi (http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg4/ultimatemegax/kuzuhacolor1.jpg) (富樫樟葉):
Yuuta's sister who is a first year middle schooler. Not only is she dependable, she's talented at cooking. When her mother and father are absent, she and Yuuta split the chores between them.
Chuunibyou description: The first sibling who shares the blood of the Dark Flame Master.

Yumeha Togashi (http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg4/ultimatemegax/yumehacolor1.jpg) (富樫夢葉):
Yuuta and Kuzuha's younger sister. One of the older kindergarden students in her class. A precocious child who often demands to play house realistically.
Chuunibyou description: The second sibling who shares the blood of the Dark Flame Master.

Makato Isshiki (http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg4/ultimatemegax/isshikicolor1.jpg) (一色誠):
To begin with, he's Yuuta's closest friend. You could say he's got a cool character; straightforward and never giving up. He's always checking out the girls and trying to show off his manliness.
Chuunibyou description: The Dark Flame Master's brethren. This demonic being constantly plans every day to become the best partner one could want in their lives. He continues to add information to his database, the Index Revelation.

Not so much of the newbies anymore. They're clearly playing the male lead extremely safe. Amano is a veteran, but seems to be new to KyoAni (not surprising, since she's not too frequently cast in new stuff). They're bringing back a Lucky Star lead for Kuzuha. Shitara is clearly the one of this group that fits in with the previous group the most. She's hardly had any roles, and the few she has have been extremely minor. Hoshi is the next biggest name after Fukuyama, but it looks like he's new to KyoAni as well. Nice to finally see the seiyuu for the rest of the lead cast, anyway. Everyone I know is good, and everyone I don't I have faith in due to Ishihara's track record with this kind of thing.

I'm not sure about the kanji for Kuzuha or Yumeha, but Yuuta's name does use the meanings somewhat.

As for the formalness, I feel it's Torako's chuunibyou showing. There's a lot of complicated kanji combinations used by Rikka, so I feel this is a similar situation by the author to look cool.

Since, on Kyōto Animation's web (http://www.kyotoanimation.co.jp/books/chuunibyo/character/) pages (http://www.anime-chu-2.com/character/) about Chūnibyō's characters, '勇', '葉' and '夢' were written in new kanji, rather than in formal kanji, I wondered why those kanji were typed in formal kanji in your JPEG pictures.
So, in the KA Esuma Bunko edition, '勇', '葉' and '夢' were printed in formal kanji?

Recently I happened to see Ishikawa Jun (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jun_Ishikawa_(author))'s recommendation on Yoshida Ken'ichi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken%27ichi_Yoshida_(literary_scholar))'s Poetica, and it was printed in formal kanji and formal orthography.

Ah, I shouldn't reply when I'm sleepy. I misunderstood what you were asking about. Those characters are indeed in new kanji in the novels. I think this is a font/size issue with GIMP on my jpgs. For convenience, I merely copy-pasted the names from wiki/website instead of dealing with typing in Japanese. I used Calibiri for my English text, but I'm not sure what GIMP defaults to for Japanese characters.

Nothing really substantial.

I see, maybe GIMP applied a traditional Hànzì fount to the kanji in question and as a result those kanji appeared as the formal kanji/traditional Hànzì, rather than as the new kanji, in your JPEG pictures.

Event is over. Not only did they show the first TWO episodes, but Fukuyama (Yuuta) and Ishihara (Supervisor) also came on as surprise guests. A lot of people felt the first episode was introductory, but the second episode was very entertaining. A couple of people have mentioned it's K-On! level of entertaining, which bodes well for its reception amongst Japanese fans. (This does not say that the shows are similar, but that the reception of how entertaining it is will be similar) A radio show will start in October and it will be streamed on JP Nico.

In brief, here's the main points from today:
As usual KyoAni image quality
Color palette is reminiscent of Clannad - provides a nice feeling
Battle scenes are abrupt, but very cool
Very authentic to Otsu's actual locations
The gags are entertaining
Everyone's so cute
Anime-original characters start appearing in episode 2
Episode 2 differs a lot from the novel.

Last random fact: No one can comment on the OP/ED we'll be seeing as KyoAni made another set for the event screenings. Hopefully they'll be included on the BDs. (Edit: the OP was the "Promotional OP" posted earlier in the thread)

We won't know that until the disc solicitations are out. Usually, the only leaks we get about episode counts come from tvk, which is not airing the show.

I wonder if there's any chance for two-cour. Has there ever been a straight year of KyoAni on TV before?

Twice. From Fall 2006-Winter 2008, KyoAni did not take time to break. This was Kanon-Lucky Star-Clannad. The only other time takes some creative liberties. It would be from Fall 2008-Summer 2009 with Clannad After Story-K-On!-Haruhi (which only had 4 old episodes in the summer season and were broadcast in late September/early October anyways).

Oh wow, so a straight year and a half. That seems very different from what I think of as KyoAni now. I guess I find it kind of hard to count Haruhi 2009, but that's still pretty good.

The big difference in the past 2-3 years years has been the time they took off for the Haruhi and K-ON! movies. They had never done major movie releases before (Munto doesn't count) so any time they were doing anything, it was TV.

Hey! Making the Munto movie required just slightly less work than making an AMV.

That makes up for 2/3 years though. The big issue is that Chuunibyou will be the first Fall/Winter series they've done since Fall 2008/Winter 2009. Yes Shoushitsu and Eiga K-On! took a good amount of time to work on, but unless they were working on Nichijou during Fall 2010, there was nothing for the animators to do (Yamada/Ishihara were working on the Eiga K-On! movie). That explains why it feels so strange to see a KyoAni show in Fall/Winter; we've had to wait for the BDs to come out later for what they've been working on. And that doesn't count Munto (TV/movie) at all. I'd be surprised if that wasn't finished during Spring/Summer 2008.

If you've seen the TV series, you don't need to see it. It's basically a few minutes added before continuing halfway in episode 6 until the end of the series. When I was finishing my viewing of everything KyoAni, I skipped it due to that.

These two were/are used in place of the normal OP/ED for the live events this past Sunday/upcoming Saturday. Damn, I translated this poorly ^^.
Regardless of My Adolescent Delusions of Grandeur, I Want a Date!

So let me tell you my unfortunate story. My name is Yuuta and when I was in middle school I had teenage delusions of grandeur. But I graduated from my dark past in middle school, and was on my way to sail smoothly through high school. That should have been the end of it, but there was an accident… which I kinda expected would happen. And because of that accident, I’ve now been forced into a contract with Rikka, another victim of teenage delusions of grandeur, and now she has messed up my life! Stop encouraging my teenage delusions of grandeur!!Also confirmed (http://www.tbs.co.jp/eng/programsales/animation/regardlessofmyadolescent.html) to be 12 episodes long.

This pretty much tells us TBS has the international rights. Getting a pure simulcast on Crunchy is now very unlikely.

Hm. Well, on the upside, this will be the first KyoAni import since 2010 that I don't need to suffer through a Kadokawa Marathon for. :sd: (Damn you Nichijou and Hyouka.)

Meh, annoying, but with it airing on Wednesday I wouldn't be able to get to it for a few days each week anyway, by which time it'll be fansubbed. I guess now I'm actually glad it doesn't air on Sundays, as subs wouldn't always necessarily be out before my weekend is over.

Damn, only one cour. Oh well, hopefully it uses those 12 episodes well. That's a really stupid title. Hopefully if it gets licensed, the company that licenses it uses a better title. I know this is already the official English title, but... no company of English staff would really choose to use THAT stupid of a title, right? Hopefully it's not stupidly insisted on by the Japanese for some reason. Speaking of which, licensing and/or streaming announcements should be starting pretty soon.

But being TBS means it probably won't be on Crunchyroll? Damn, that really sucks. Well there are always more companies putting their shows on Crunchyroll, so I guess all I can do is hope for TBS to decide this is the time for them to do so. They must be in pretty limited company at this point. That would be really tragic to have two KyoAni series in a row with no simulcast, especially the Ishihara one.

12 episodes should be enough for this show. It's not going to be as through as Hyouka, so it doesn't need to be as longer. Also, just to prove the title isn't always used, Sentai merely used Maid-Sama for their release while TBS's site uses Kaicho wa Maid Sama!. They also state K-On!! had 24 episodes (it had 27), so we know that it's at least 12 episodes. I believe we'll get either 13/14 though. The one-cour shows for KyoAni have had 12 (FMP:F), 13+1 OVA (FMP:TSR), 13+2 OVA (AIR), 14 (Haruhi), 9 (Munto TV/OVAs/movie), 14 (K-On!), and 14 (Haruhi 2009) episodes.

TBS shows are much less likely to stream on Crunchy (as they are airing) without some delay. A lot of past titles were picked up late (Like Koi Choco this season) or were streamed one week after the JP airing. Granted, they've done well with NakaImo this season only being ~36 hours after the first airing, but who knows what'll happen. Hyouka likely didn't stream due to the abnormal start/ending times of the season as Kadokawa has been much kinder regarding simulcasts.

It did have a showcase on ANN which in the past has tended to indicate it may get simulcast (the majority of them, though of course not all, end up getting one). I would speculate that Kadokawa asked too high of a price and FUNi and/or Sentai declined. They probably wanted a license that included home video right off the bat and didn't want a streaming-only-at-first license like Nichijou likely was. That, or in keeping with their recent policies, trying to avoid any insinuation that a cheaper American release may come in the future so that potential Japanese reverse importers won't wait around on buying it.

The biggest update this week is the first episode of Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai! Lite uploaded to Youtube (http://youtu.be/QK_aZiizefg). Event reports (http://www.anime-chu-2.com/special/event_report/) for the two pre-air screenings went up over the past week, and we have some additional staff comments (http://www.anime-chu-2.com/story/) on the story. Character-wise, we have some designs for Toka Takanashi (http://www.anime-chu-2.com/character/toka/), Rikka's older sister (see, you can't just read kanji!), and Nanase Tsukumo (http://www.anime-chu-2.com/character/nanase/). They updated the radio page with segment names and JP online broadcast times, but that's not as important as the others. Edit: Appears the only showings on NicoNico will be live broadcasts without the ability to timeshift. May not bode well for simulcasts on our end.

I love the short. Hearing the characters is a joy and Rikka sounds wonderful! Yuuta's not too bad right now.
