Alright...the fanservice, harem show of this season.

At least Issei is a straight-up pervert. His alarm clock is amusing...I'm not sure if I want a yandere alarm, though. I just wonder what he could have done that would have been a threat to the fallen angels.

Animation and art is average (the breast jiggle is nice though...haha). Show is 99% uncensored which is good since too many "lights of god" would have been distracting for a show like this.

I didn't really find the show too funny besides the typical humor from the three perverted guys.

Ehh...mediocre. This is one of those cases where I'm probably better off reading the manga.

Since I'm not a fan of in-your-face fanservice and prefer a lighter touch this first episode was not really my cup of tea. Too many low angle shots and unrealistic amounts of jiggle just about destroyed my interest in what might be a somewhat interesting story premise. But I pretty much knew that's what this series would be about from the preview. I'll give it a second episode to see if goes anywhere with this devil stuff but my expectations are low.

In fact, I've decided that I have no desire to stick around to see how many levels of "hell" the series drags itself down. There's enough anime to watch (and other things to do) that I shouldn't waste my time on stuff like this.

I can get service in much better shows and even then I find some shows can have their girls be attractive without the need for as much service. So while appreciated it only helps so much.

Sorry Rias, you're not worth suffering the trio or even just the male lead.

In any case, once I make an actual Winter Update (Probably around Spring of next year), this will be one of the first listed dropped titles of the season and will likely be my final say on it. Outside of the obvious where each updates includes a dropped so far list.

I agree about Rias, she looks great, she's an appealing character, and the fact she's a redhead is a plus for me. Nice to see that AT-X hardly censored this too.

Well, I *thought* the AT-X version was the uncut version, but apparently not. Oh, no, its probably one of those cases where even the "uncut" version has censored parts in an attempt to increase DVD/BD sales. But its really, really bizarre to have a beam of light blotting out an ass-crack between two clear, full screen shots of breasts and nipples.

Most of the episode fell somewhere between mediocre and terrible. Issei is incredibly obnoxious, and the show gave him not one but two horny male friends, a character type I absolutely despise. The show then proceeded to spend the bulk of the episode on them, with the girls that matter getting barely a minute of screentime. The premise is decent enough, but the episode was mediocre in execution and the fanservce of the most lazy, generic sort, so it wasn't the least bit titillating or interesting and was far more likely to be irritating and distracting due to awkward shots and angles.

This show has the potential to be a decently fun fanservice series in the vein of Sekirei and Freezing, but this was a really bad way to start off. Hopefully the story will focus a lot more on the girls and the supernatural stuff now that the intro is out of the way, and keep the obnoxious male friends and Issei being just as much of a pervert to to minimum.

Edit: You know what, this was the most painfully bad first episode I've seen in a while and it would need to improve far more than it has any realistic chance of doing in order to become worth bothering with. I'm done with this show unless I hear of vast improvement from other people.

Well, that was a better episode than the first. Issei is still a perv but at least he's toned it down a bit and his annoying friends don't appear much. I think of him like Sora no Otoshimono's Tomoki without the terrible voice. The way Issei wants to use his new powers for ecchi purposes were very similar.

And heh Koneko is voiced by Azu-nyan, what a co-incidence :P

We get to learn more of the demon's powers in this episode. And of course, Rias is very easy on the eyes, plus she rivals Matsu from "Sekirei" as my favorite anime redhead. I sort of hope this anime goes into a somewhat darker direction given the supernatural stuff. Good end sequence too. On the other hand, I do agree with what most people say about Issei. I'd love to see Rias kill him in the last episode.

I did LOL at the boob blasts from the stray devil girl...

I think the best part was at the end meeting that psychotic priest. Fuckin' insane man. Yet again, though he has the disease every villain seems to have - spends too much time talking before the final blow.

I thought I would drop this show, but looks like now I'll continue, for now, because of Asia and Ria.

Episode 1:

- So, as of the eyecatch this is, rather surprisingly, not bad enough to outright drop. I went into it assuming I would drop it after one episode, but I generally prefer to give shows a chance to surprise me. I guess I'm surprised. That doesn't mean it's good, but it might be watchable. It's also nice to see a fanservice anime actually show breasts. Even other AT-X anime don't seem to nowadays. And if you're a fanservice anime that's censoring fanservice, what's the point? I see there's still some crotch fanservice but I don't mind that as much.
- And as of the end of the episode I feel the same way. Guess I'll give this some more time after all. Been a while since I've seen uncensored boobs in an anime at all, let alone one that isn't terrible. And Issei is not nearly as annoying as he should be, all things considered. That helps.

Since 2 and 3 are subbed too, I guess I'll go ahead and see if episode 1 wasa fluke or not. It's far from a great show but it's definitely in the "watchable" category for the moment. Maybe I'm just in the mood for a mindless fanservice anime. I can't even remember the last one I watched to completion. It's been multiple seasons at least.

Episode 2:

- Since I didn't expect to watch past the first episode I didn't really get into seiyuu, but yay for Hikasa Youko as Rias. Koneko is Taketatsu Ayana (how long until we get a nyan?). Akeno is Itou Shizuka. Blond we haven't met is Asakura Azumi, who... ahhh, she's the one who took over Yukiho in Idolmaster 2.
- One thing I've never found particularly attractive or arousing, though apparently it's supposed to be: erect nipples through clothing at all times. Is that really necessary? I dunno.
- Issei is getting more annoying. I thought he was tolerable in the first episode, but now... eh.
- Now for a scene wasted on Issei and... some guy.
- Haha, yeah, blond girl sounds just like Yukiho.

Wooooooow... that ED. Where did a show like this get animation like that from? (granted, it's only about 15-17 seconds of real animation) Overall this episode was a step down from episode one, which itself was only "sort of watchable", but Koneko in the ED earns this another chance. Holy crap. I also want to give blond girl an episode.

- Those sure were some nipple lasers.
- Yay, Koneko. I had a feeling she'd be the Rook when they started talking about chess pieces.
- Haha oh wow, more Akeno please. Akeno is Rias' queen! Oh how fun that could be if this were an all-female cast. Oh well.
- Exorcist priest is kinda crazy!
- Bleh... I was all ready for some Asia boobs in this episode but this is not the context in which I wanted to see them. -_-
- Man, exorcist guy is annoying.

Ummmmmm. I honestly don't know if that episode increased or decreased the chances of me continuing this. All I wanted was some nice Asia fanservice (she's got the perfect sized boobs!), but it comes in the form of sexual assault by an obnoxious homicidal psychopath. Sigh.

So on the one hand, this episode made me like all the existing characters more (except Issei), but the newly-introduced antagonist is really annoying. I guess I'll give it a few more, I can't decide right now.

The whole priest/villain, innocent sexy nun puts a weird twist to the story. Now the devils are the good guys but Issei has fallen for Asia. I have no idea where this is going except down the fanservice route.

This episode did to lasers what the first episode of "Queen's Blade" did for acid. On the other hand, I felt the scene with Asia Argento and that priest to be very disturbing, but then again, this anime is not for the people who passed Bill 156 (and is that law even being enforced in Tokyo)?
One a side note, the famous Italian horror director Dario Argento (whom I'm a big fan of) just happens to have a daughter named Asia. I wonder if the creators know about this.

The evil priest is still annoying as hell and it looks like he'll be a recurring villain sadly. Akeno and Rias are overpowered though, at least compared to Issei.

This could end up being what Rosario + Vampire should have been.

This was a decent action oriented episode with some good fights. Every time I see that weapon on Issei's arm, I can't help but think about "Witchblade". And why does that priest love to target Asia? I hope he gets whats coming.
Otherwise, this is the second episode to show Rias in the shower. That smoking hot redhead must sweat a lot during a rough day of fighting.

Overall, a good episode. I have to agree showing less of her perverted side is a good thing for the show.

For all that quite a bit happened, it felt very ponderous.

Issei's absolutely, completely unoriginal in every aspect (he's even voiced by Kaiji Yuuki! *sigh*), and his two friends are atrocious.

On the other hand, the show isn't afraid of actually showing boobs, Rias is deliciously played by Hikasa Youko, and its just generally well animated and good looking.

But while Issei may be dead, he is most certainly no ZOMBIE!

After this week's fight, and seeing the next antagonist shown at the end (Issei has competition as a harem king...haha), next episode looks like we're back to comedy?

After starting off silly with in-your-face fanservice, the show takes a more serious side these last two episodes. While it's still cliched in ways, at least the show isn't all about BOOBS in your face.

If nothing else there was less focus on his friends, so I guessed that help.

Also Akeno has some potential. Love the pony tail.

Well, the ending does have some interesting aspects. Read into that what you want.

Issei was not a perve for the entire episode, and it was much better! Holy shit, could we try the first three episodes again with THIS Issei?

Not to thrilled with the "promotion" aspect, since its really just a way for Issei to defeat things he shouldn't be able to (see also, Kamijou Touma and the right hand of plot advancement). Kiba was pretty cool. Can he be the male lead?

Anyway, I think I see where things are going to go from here. (not that the eyecatch didn't totally give away what was blindingly obvious to begin with...)

Akeno's Miko outfit was nice to see, but it's kind of funny when I think about stories where you have Mikos fighting against demons.

One good thing to come out of this "suffering of Asia" arc is the fact Issei is being humanized. In that he's realizing that people aren't just objects to fantasize about.

The pawn aspect is interesting I guess, but it could also easily be abused. Which can be worrying.

That was a pretty satisfying end to the introductory arc. Yes, Issei's super Sacred Gear is a very convenient plot point but I wasn't expecting this show to be extremely original. As long as it can manage a good balance of humour, drama and fanservice, I'll continue watching.

How the show will go on from here will make or break it. What will Rias do now with her full set of chess pieces? There'll obviously be more fallen angels to fight and perhaps other demon clans as well.

Oh, and yay for the return of Issei's alarm clock!

And so does Asia become a devil. Now we just need to see her with wings. Now the question remains. Will the series continue on its path of improvement or will it fall on its face now that the Asia arc is over.

Also, hopefully this means we can get some Asia fanservice that doesn't involve having guilt attached to it. Ie her naked because she's taking a shower and not because she's being tortured.

I'm only watching it on Niconico. At this point, I never watch fansubs when official subs are available. The only exception is when official streams are unacceptably late on a particularly high priority title for me (in which case, I'll watch both).

Goddamnit...why does Asia have to be so cute?

Issei's parents were pretty funny during the introduction of Asia to their household.

Issei, why do you get all the weirdos that want to make a contract with demons? Running gag?

And, so, we learn that Rias (who continues to be quite charming. +1 for sleeping in the nude) has feelings for Issei. I was hoping when she mentioned to him about touching her boobs, she's put the same stipulation as Hanakawa from Nise.

Out of all the merchandise that can be made for the show, I really hope someone makes Issei's alarm clock with all the different wake-up calls. I'd totally buy one.

Not bad for a filler episode, a good deal of humor and they managed to make fun of Issei's perverted side (you know he's never going to grab Rias' you-know-whats unless it's by accident). And to Superdry, I too like the fact that Rias sleeps au natural, but she's best when taking a shower (and she talks on a cell phone while showering in this episode).

While it's a little humourous at times...Issei's super-pervert mode does get annoying which means he doesn't even get his own servant demon at the end.

Asia is cute as always and Rias is lovely as usual. The show definitely has the best eyecatches of the season.

The fabric eating slime just seemed like a way to force some fanservice in the episode. Interestingly enough...it stopped eating away at Asia's clothing once Issei grabbed her.

At least it looks like things get back to being a little more serious next week.
