I will be going to Osaka and will be planning side trips to other parts of the Kansai region such as Nara and Kyoto (and maybe one more place in the Kansai region if time permits).
Can anyone name any landmarks in these places that were used in any anime (preferably would be great if you could also name the anime it was in)? I am thinking of visiting these places.

You can see the Kamo-wakeikazuchi Shrine, Ryōanji's karesansui garden, and Gozan no Okuribi in Kyoto in Seven of Seven.

Abe no Seimei (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abe_no_Seimei) is well-known also to manga fans via the Onmyōji manga (and novels and films).
Seimei Jinja (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seimei_Shrine) in Kyoto is dedicated to Abe no Seimei.
It is said that the shrine's site is the place where Abe no Seimei's house existed.

The station in Kanon is modelled on Moriguchishi Station (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moriguchishi_Station).

Negima and Love Hina both involved visits to Kiyomizu Dera in Kyoto.
Negima also had a visit to Nara.
And, although it would be a little trip, I would like to put a plug in for Onomichi, where the anime Kamichu was based. http://www.onomichiguide.com/kamichu.html .
Personal plugs: Kyoto - Kiyomizu Dera (make sure to take a left past the main wooden platform to see some shrines), the Golden Pavilion, the Silver Pavilion and walk around JR Kyoto station a bit, it's a neat building.
Nara - See the Big Buddha, walk through Nara Park and feed some deer. Do not offer food to groups of more than two deer, it is more fun to watch other people do this, especially school girls :).
Onomichi - I went to Onomchi after watching Kamichu. It's was fun; basically walking through back alleys and down side streets to see all the temples. Nice, laid back visit. My first visit I was befriended by an 89 year old gentleman who escorted me around for a while.
