The series follows Koko Hekmatyar, a young arms dealer who sells weapons under HCLI, a weapons corporation. As one of the company's unofficial weapon sellers, she secretly sells weapons in many countries while avoiding the local authorities and law enforcements as most of her work is actually illegal under international law. Travelling with her is her team of bodyguards who are mostly composed of ex-military veterans. Her latest addition to her crew is Jonah, a seemingly emotionless child soldier who is skilled in combat yet ironically hates arms dealers. Jonah joins Koko as he wishes to find the arms dealer responsible for his family's death. What follows is Koko and her crews escapades around the world.

The official site is announcing a 2nd season in October. Looks like another split cour show
04-11-2012, 04:10 PM
This one kinda reminds me of Black Lagoon.
Jonah... he kinda reminds me of Revy ^^
Think he's gonna be my fav character.
Kako sure can be pretty funny, especially when sleepwalking LOL
I like this one, will be watching it.
04-12-2012, 12:03 AM
Haha, Koko is pretty awesome.
And Valmet clearly wants to get in Koko's skirt.
Very nice first episode. This is definitely a keeper.
04-13-2012, 10:23 AM
So, this is a spiritual sucessor to Black Lagoon?
Koko sure is hilarious.
Eyepatch woman has the hots for Koko.
Jonah has some freaky eyebrows.
04-14-2012, 12:16 AM
-Well this isn't set in North Korea. That rocket didn't blow up right after lift off.
-Koko's voice feels wrong for her. Even only being a few minutes in and knowing nothing about her really. Her voice just doesn't fit how she looks. It's should be harder, more icey.
-You win a prize. Have a stuffed doggie.
-Guns for peace!
-Surprise yuri sleepwalking.
-HAH! I like the preview music.
All of Koko's goons remind me of the members of Section 9 (http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/479733/), only there's more of them and they are far far less distinct personalities at first glance. I guess Valmet is cool. Just hasn't been an exciting anime day for me :\
04-18-2012, 12:07 PM
Koko's fit at the beginning was LOL, she sure can make interesting faces ^^
This was one intense job that got complicated fast!
Interesting how Koko can smile in totally serious/life threatening situations.
Valmet has a total thing for Koko, there was a nice yuri moment.
Really nice episode.
04-18-2012, 10:03 PM
-So all women are attracted to Koko. Shame there are so few women alive on this world then.
-Mildred is far too excitable though.
-HAH! Koko doesn't give a shit about the competition.
Koko is loco. I say oh no to more episodes.

Finally, FUNimation has the first White Fox anime since Steins;Gate, which quickly got into my top 3 favorite anime of all time and hasn't left since, streaming on their website! And it's... alright? I really do like the style of it all. The first two White Fox anime didn't really do anything for me, so it's not like I knew they'd pull it off perfectly, but after seeing this episode, I think that they did as much as they could perfectly. Unfortunately, I feel like the source material is just something that I can't love too much. I love brutal action scenes and this episode was chock full of them, but the fact that the series and its characters are so focused around these weapons and the brutality they cause keeps them from connecting to me no matter how interesting they are (and by "they", I mean Koko). It was weird to see Jonah being an emotionless killing machine who's even more trigger-happy than the rest of the cast is or wants him to be after his opening commentary condemning these weapons and everyone associated with them. Hopefully some more of that will pop up as the series goes on. Fortunately, the second episode is up for me to watch next.
04-20-2012, 10:18 PM
This episode was much less about Jonah and everyone else enjoying the murder of others so much, and while they did leave others to die, Jonah was happy for pretty much the first time so far that he didn't have to fire a single bullet. Of course Koko thinks this is a bad thing, which I'm not fond of, but I liked the way this episode was handled. It's still a very solid presentation overall, so hopefully I can continue to get entertainment out of it.
04-21-2012, 12:35 AM
Koko was even more gloriously nuts in this episode than before.
I loved her solution to dealing with the soldiers at the end.
And it turns out Valmet isn't her only lesbian admirer.
04-21-2012, 04:00 AM
...so Koko is Takei Hisa gone really, really bad.
Jonah is going to grow up and ORE WA GUNDAMU DA
And Valmet is...super gay for Koko.
Also the plot made no goddamn sense. But so what?
04-21-2012, 06:42 AM
Something about Koko seems to attacked crazy lesbians. This is good.
Uhh...I still think the plot, such as it is, doesn't make much sense.
Meant to mention this before, but I was expecting MELL for the OP, but got Kawada Mami, so I was close.
04-25-2012, 02:44 PM
Chinatsu & Orchestra... that is one unusual partnership.
Jonah home schooling sessions were LOL
It probably felt like torture to him as well as totally unnecessary, so he ditched LOL
Good thing Jonah has a need to be Koko's bodyguard 'cause she really is fearless.
Sometimes too fearless for her own good.
Those assassins were really persistent, but starting a private war in the middle of town is just not a good idea no matter how you look at it.
04-27-2012, 02:34 PM
I wonder how long Orchestra will evade death. It doesn't seem like they can continue to be the main antagonists for even the rest of the first cour, with just the two of them, only one of them an original member of Orchestra, against Koko and all her men. Anyway, their role only just started here, so it was plenty of fun for this episode at least.
04-27-2012, 11:01 PM
Velmet gets to go on a date with Koko!
I love Chinatsu. Best character in the cast after Koko. Too bad she has a date with death next time. I was surprised she even survived the episode, I was expecting both of them to get a bullet in the head before the episode was over.
05-02-2012, 12:08 PM
The chase and shootout were really good.
The blond Scarecrow guy was totally annoying.
Hope Jonah and Koko get him for being a total jerk.
I have a feeling we'll see that guy again.
Koko really is treating Jonah as a younger brother sometimes ^^
Chinatsu came for her revenge, but instead got a heart to heart with Koko and two bullets for acting against all odds.
The problem I have with these shootouts is the range. At something like 30 ft maybe and their rate of fire they should have been swiss cheese. Handguns yeah but assault rifles? The 50 cal should have torn them to shreds (unless the car was armored).
I thought Koko was going to offer Chinatsu a job at one point.
I'm surprised the writers killed them off. I wonder how large the Orchestra organization is? They're less assassins than pure psychopaths. They just gun everyone down to get their targets. Not very professional IMO. Koko's crew, on the other hand, are pros.
Koko's sense of her own mortality was chilling in a way. Her statistics on guns (if true and I'm assuming they are) was something I wasn't aware of. Interesting.
05-02-2012, 11:22 PM
I'm not sure how most of Koko's men survived that. Everyone in that care should have been riddled with holes. It's been well established by this point that the show is not concerned with being realistic, but it would be nice if it wouldn't abuse suspension of belief quite that horribly.
It seems the group has some sort of rule regarding killing women and/or non-adults, though Chinatsu seems a bit too old for age to be a big problem for them.
I figured Chinatsu wasn't going to survive the episode but I had hope for a moment that she might.
05-02-2012, 11:24 PM
I wonder how large the Orchestra organization is?
At the end of this episode, its zero. Last episode established that the crazy guy was the last one, other than his protege that they didn't know about yet. Everyone else in the group was already dead.
05-07-2012, 06:22 PM
And that's the end of Orchestra. I thought they might last a little longer. I wonder if that CIA guy will be the new villain. Although honestly, he's probably the least villainous character yet, which is pretty sad. Orchestra was fun though, and I liked how this episode turned out for the most part. That's got to be the most serious I've ever seen anyone ask why someone doesn't wear panties. I still have no idea why she was so serious about it.
05-09-2012, 02:10 PM
So this time we get to see Koko's brother.
Judging by her first reaction, she wasn't glad to see him.
What Koko was trying to prevent was, I guess, unavoidable after all.
Those parts of Jonah's past were very informative.
Jonah sure is one scary kid, but that's no wonder.
It was nice learning more about Jonah.
Wonder what kind of "fun" waits for them in Africa.
05-09-2012, 04:08 PM
-My favorite character, Super smexy Kasper, has arrived
-Learn about Jonah's background, some more motivations for his actions
-Character development rich, looks like we're getting Valmer episode next week
05-11-2012, 06:44 PM
Ah, so Jonah's parents were indirectly killed by and his life further ruined by none other than Koko's brother, who has joined the cast now, resulting in a very intense confrontation. Arc starts next week?
05-16-2012, 01:02 PM
Koko & crew vs pirates! What a treat ^-^
Good thing she's a weapons dealer.
Having that much guns and ammo on board was convenient.
That Scarecrow guy seems to be constantly scheming something with shady guys.
Jonah & Valmet training was nice to watch ^^
The fair was sure full of interesting people.
Hunt for doctor Minami turned into a nice fight.
05-18-2012, 06:49 PM
Yep, we're on an arc now. After taking much time to properly introduce a good number of characters that will be featured, all the groups got their assignments and we get to see how they all overlap and conflict. For now, it looks like Valmet's past is coming back to make her lose her mind, complete with a Koko-style grin. She may just become crazy enough to win against this monster of a woman they face. Should be fun either way. Butterfly hakase is magnificently silly. I wonder if this will last more than one more episode.
05-24-2012, 02:07 PM
Koko enjoying a business lunch.
The rest of the team chasing doctor Minami.
It was great watching them fight and take down the enemy with ease.
Looks like Africa is over with for now..
Jonah was totally LOL with his final statement!
05-25-2012, 06:53 PM
"Koko won't be drinking." Well, time to try every wine you have. Valmet goes crazy and actually beats her opponent pretty easily, although she doesn't kill her. I was surprised by that. I guess insanity really trumps all in this show.
06-01-2012, 04:03 PM
Jonah vs Lutz. A tag game ^^
Koko was played this time.
It's good she's stubborn and doesn't give up easily.
Tolokhovsky sure is eager to destroy her business.
Face to face meeting was interesting.
06-01-2012, 06:45 PM
Lutz gets his ass kicked by a child and his friends laugh. Koko meets a woman she thinks is hot, much to Valmet's dismay. Koko really has a significant harem. And considering that all but one of her group is males, it's funny that it happens to be all female. Anyway, this new woman is an enemy, although not quite the kind to start shooting immediately. The first battle is in business, and Koko doesn't stand a chance. But this is Koko we're talking about, so of course it's not going to end like that! No matter what the enemy brings, she'll come up with something to put a genuine evil grin back on her face. So when they get to have a face-to-face confrontation, Koko figures out just the right thing to do in order to finish the episode with a success. After this one-off episode, we get another couple of episodes for the next story, or maybe more.
06-06-2012, 12:28 PM
Koko through Jonah's eyes.
It was nice watching them have fun at the beach ^^
Seeing Jonah blush 'cause of Koko's comment was a rare treat.
This episode was partly about how everyone sees Koko.
Koko really knows how to make Jonah smile.
Their new job didn't go too smooth.
06-06-2012, 02:23 PM
I think the whole thing was a setup. The head doctor seems to have a problem with Dragan.I would not be surprised if he was the one who leaked that they were on the plane to setup a bloodbath between the militia and Koko's team. That was why he walked out because it looked like Koko might be able to face Dragan down.
06-08-2012, 07:05 PM
You know, fuck that militia. I'm not a fan of this show being about people who murder and assist in murder on a larger scale, but that last command from Koko was probably the first time in this show that I've been happy to hear her give the word to kill a bunch of people. Nice to see them hanging out and acting like normal people near the beginning, too. And there's definitely some interesting irony in this weapon dealer group transporting a group of doctors.
06-13-2012, 09:27 AM
A shootout at the airfield. Nice way to start an episode ^^
Koko sure is sly when she needs to get something fast.
Taking all the cargo and escaping with it too, now that was most impressive!
It's was an awesomely executed plan.
I can't believe they went for Dragon too.
Koko sure likes to win and take all the spoils she had her eye on. Amazing.
06-15-2012, 06:59 PM
Kill everyone. Use every weapon nearby. Keep your business successful. Get away. Kill everyone that's left. Make all the money. Collect the gratitude. Love every second. Just another day in the life of Koko and her team. And on to the next one.
06-20-2012, 01:13 PM
Valmet sure is spacing out lately.
Guess her past is still bothering her.
Flashback to her past & how she met Koko was interesting.
Jonah sure is a smart boy who really knows how to tag along unnoticed.
He isn't willing to let anyone go if he can help it, the kid's full of surprises.
Koko's small deal turned into a bloodbath, not too surprising though.
Very intense ending, can't wait to see next episode!
06-22-2012, 01:23 PM
So I guess this is the last arc of the cour, then we take a break. Seems like an appropriate choice, with two of the members missing, Koko pissed off as a result and not necessarily making the decisions she'd normally make, her other team members not feeling quite right as a result of that, and a surprise attack from a very competent new group of enemies while their guard is down, possibly resulting in the death of a member of the team right off the bat? Somehow I don't think they'd do that, at least not this early. I wonder if they'll wrap things up nicely before the break, or if they'll go for a big cliffhanger like Fate/Zero.
06-27-2012, 01:24 PM
A little more detail about Ugo this time.
The surprise attack was a failure.
Looks like that trio just didn't have what it takes to take out Koko's gang.
Valmet's little fun & games in the desert compound were totally an adrenaline high.
Looks like she finally managed to deal with her past face to face.
All is well that ends well and it this case it ended well ^^
06-29-2012, 08:46 PM
A pretty strong way to close out the first season. I wasn't sold on most of what Jormungand has been offering up so far, but I thought this was some of the better stuff. An interesting way to set up the second season. What's going on with Book Man and R? We aren't given enough information for this to be a real cliffhanger, but while most arcs resolve themselves and end the episode at this point, this does leave me a little intrigued and curious to see what events this is leading up to. Plus, I like the way they put that after the ED.
The show overall isn't wowing me just yet, but I think it is starting to show more potential. Changing the pictures on the bullet in the ED is a nice touch, by the way. Don't think I've ever mentioned that. And I love the OP. I figured it had to be Mell, but I guess it's just someone I don't know who seems pretty similar to me. After Steins;Gate, White Fox was never going to follow up with the same level of quality, but at least their style pops up in some places. I'd say the faces have a similar look, especially the eyes. I guess I would have rather they did hold off on this and adapted Robotics;Notes, but hopefully Production I.G can do as good a job on that, and of course the source material probably isn't as good as Steins;Gate anyway. I know the series is only taking a break, but since it's considered two different series by the likes of ANN, MAL, etc., I'll go ahead and give the first season a grade as its own series. See you in three months...
Series Grade: B-
10-10-2012, 10:03 AM
Season 2 is here!
Karen got adopted like an abandoned little puppy.
Minami & Koko are very much alike.
Jonah always surprises me with how aware he is of his surroundings.
Operation Undershaft looks promising.
Will be watching this one.
10-11-2012, 01:36 PM
The second season starts out stronger than the first season ever got to be, so that's a great sign for things to come. I still wish White Fox was adapting Robotics;Notes instead of this, just as I wish KyoAni was adapting Little Busters!, but it looks like at least they've got a better handle on it now. Or maybe they just always pace things so that they get much better as the second half begins, but in this case it's a little different since it's split-cour. Of course, Jormungand at its best is still nothing compared to Steins;Gate at its worst, but that's the case with most anime. Hopefully the quality of this series can continue to improve throughout the rest of this second season, and at least prove a worthy addition to the White Fox family.
10-17-2012, 12:44 PM
A little something - something about R.
This was actually pretty interesting to watch.
Seems like CIA is very interested in Koko at the moment.
That could prove to be very tiresome and dangerous.
It was really fun watching them practice an extraction ^^
10-19-2012, 02:43 AM
Some important backstory I've been kind of waiting for here. Good stuff. I think giving us the hook at the end of the first season, having exciting stuff for the first episode of the second season, then explaining this stuff here in the second episode of it is a pretty good choice.
10-25-2012, 10:12 AM
So CIA sees Jonah was Koko's weakness.
Didn't know R was an undercover spy.
Him admitting it to Koko was an even bigger surprise.
A shootout in the middle of town was as cool as ever ^^
Koko had a little crisis after all that with R, but she regrouped fast.
Well, guess that's expected from an arms dealer.
Mess with Koko or her team as she will bring the fires of hell down on you. Literally.
10-25-2012, 07:32 PM
Oh man, is Koko ever more distraught then when she loses a member about her team? Learning he was a spy may have been worse than his actual death. She certainly got her revenge, though. Great music choice there.
10-31-2012, 01:15 PM
Seeing things from Koko's brother's perspective.
Koko on a war path... that's totally gonna happen.
The whole thing with R is getting to her.
Lots of flashbacks in this episode, mostly Jonathan's.
It's a rare thing to see Koko working together with Kasper.
11-01-2012, 08:33 PM
Lots of Jonah flashing back on the shit he was put through. Very shitty.
11-07-2012, 05:24 AM
Kasper looking for Koko's help. That's rare.
Tojo working Mr Hina. At least his info was useful.
It was LOL how Jonah fell asleep standing in the middle of Tojo's briefing.
Koko getting plastered was pretty funny too ^^
Kasper & crew vs SR squad!
Things are getting interesting.
11-08-2012, 02:54 PM
I have never seen Valmet so excited. And holy shit mini katana in belt. Good thing everyone is so quick at killing people. Well, arguably a good thing. Pretty cool, at any rate.
11-14-2012, 03:28 PM
A trap for Koko?
Hinoki sure pulled one over Koko.
The enemy leaned on Koko's team pretty hard.
Situation in the tunnel was very intense.
It's a good thing they had air support.
Flashbacks were interesting.
Tojo and Hinoki. Heart to heart.
11-16-2012, 12:31 AM
Tojo's arc was quite good. It got very intense as expected, but at least he made out with a real happy ending. Drunk Koko was hilarious at the end.
11-21-2012, 11:49 AM
Nelson, Brick and Echo army days new info was nice.
It's always good to learn something new and interesting about Koko's crew.
The chatty convoy stories and flashbacks were nice.
It's felt like they decided to fill in the gaps with new info while doing a slower story.
The ambush and plan to kidnap and ransom Koko was a raging failure.
Those guys totally underestimated Koko ans her crew.
11-22-2012, 07:32 PM
After starting the episode with that backstory and skipping the OP, I figured they'd spend the whole episode on that, or at least have some reason to use the extra time. But the flashback only lasted for a little bit, and then there was plenty of unnecessary extra stuff, so I'm not sure what the point of that was. Learning the backstories of all these guys has been really great, though.
11-28-2012, 02:00 PM
I wonder what it's like... Minami and Koko's secret plan.
Jonah sure has a great eye to figure out something's up.
Karen beating up that other girl during the meeting was disturbing.
Especially since no one else seemed to be bothered by it.
Koko really is clingy when it comes to Jonah ^^"
Koko and Amalia conversation was interesting.
Kasper and his presentation of the global grid was very bold.
11-29-2012, 07:04 PM
Ah, the OP has subs now. A lot more English than I picked up on. This time, the ED gets skipped in favor of more time. Now that most (all?) of the rest of the characters are fleshed out better, we get to really focus on Koko, along with the always delightfully insane Dr. Miami, and we also get to hear the title dropped in-show.
That scene of some of the leaders calmly discussing things in a light tone while their bodyguards brawl it the fuck out on the floor was more of the typical dark comedy this show tends to employ. The music during that scene was really good, too.
12-05-2012, 03:34 PM
Looks like Koko has a plan off the record.
I can't wait for it to come out.
Bookman seems to be paying close attention to Koko lately.
Guess his hunch is a pretty good one.
Koko is collecting some interesting people.
12-06-2012, 04:58 PM
It's really rather fascinating to watch this sprawling cast of unique characters collaborating and/or plotting against other small to large groups of people spread throughout this massive world of characters.
Also, a reference to Julian Assange. Can't say I was exactly expecting that.
12-12-2012, 02:06 PM
Some serious action this time.
It was about time for it too.
Koko really had a great plan.
She thought it through really well.
Bath time looked nice.
That Jonah sure has some privileges.
OMG has she finally gotten off the rails?
Anyway, it's going to be really interesting seeing that plan work.
Jonah's reaction to that was pretty normal.
Everyone else being silent was kinda off.
12-13-2012, 06:22 PM
Holy shit! Well that is quite the plan, Koko. If that actually comes to be, it will be quite the spectacular finish to the series, and would instantly make Koko and Dr. Miami a couple of the most important people in history. But it is pretty fucking insane, so I really can't imagine it could actually come to pass.
Gundam 00 did the whole "kill people to create peace" deal, and even with a very futuristic setting and giant robots that ventured into super robot territory at times, they still take into account how hypocritical this is, so I can't imagine this much more realistic story would just let it pass.
Looks like Koko's overly sexual bath wasn't enough to butter Jonah up, at least.
12-20-2012, 04:33 PM
Koko is officially god. But rather than conquering the world, she decides to make a new one. Anyone she doesn't deem unnecessary has to be happy to be used for her master plan or be eliminated.
With all the adults in Koko's group backing her decision without much question, I'm actually starting to think this may happen. Her statistics obviously point to this being the best way to go about things while reducing casualties as much as possible in the long run, but it will still change things so much that it's almost inconceivable. I guess that's the point, though. Still weird considering that this world is actually entirely grounded in reality, but I guess that just makes these kind of drastic actions that much more compelling. At any rate, I'm very interested to see how this all finishes up.
And Jonah joins Kasper? Wow. I know Koko has some crazy ideas, but... wow.
And I never really thought of how similar the word "warmonger" was to "Jormungand", but I probably should have.
12-23-2012, 07:48 AM
With this Koko became the most powerful person in the world.
I was surprised Jonah was the only one who tried to stop her.
He was definitely the most bothered by it all.
Interesting how Kasper picked him up just at the right time.
Where's Austin Powers when you need him? Dr. Evil had a daughter too I guess.
Koko's gonna kill a lot of people and do nothing but send the world back to 1900. Does she not know about sextants, maps, and compasses? What does she think ships do that lose their electronics? Drift helplessly? Does she think WWI and 2 cannons depended upon GPS for fire control? And she calls herself an arms dealer.
12-27-2012, 04:11 PM
What a perfect way to end it. I'm unsure about this whole development, but it gets a lot of points just for that.
And wow, I wasn't expecting two years to suddenly pass between these episodes. And even more surprising is that in all that time, things stay the same both in that Koko hasn't activated Jormungand even though she still planned to, and Jonah is still working for Kasper! Wow.
So yeah, that was that show. It definitely got better as it went on, especially in this second season, although obviously it's still nothing compared to the previous White Fox series. I'll be curious to see what their future projects are like and how good they are. Even if all the content isn't the best, they've clearly shown a dedication to creating a high-quality production under any circumstances, so I'm guessing I'll be pretty happy with whatever they come out with next. Or at least I should be by the very end of it...
12-28-2012, 09:42 AM
Jormungand Perfect Order ended.
Jonah missing Koko, him working for Kasper...
Things didn't go according to plan, just got delayed for a while.
Jonah quitting on Kasper was half surprising..
This final episode was rather flat and uneventful.
Well, at least Jonah found his way back to Koko.
Looks like we'll see the fruits of Koko's labor in the next season if their will be one.
