Yeah, about fucking time. Looks like 7-8 months after the movie started in theaters. There's been worse but it still has felt so long.

I've been thinking, if that RE DVD MSRP is correct, we might genuinely see RE DVDs ranking significantly for this release. It's already been well documented that this movie had appeal beyond its otaku core, and ¥3990 is an MSRP that non-otaku would be comfortable with in Japan. It's actually cheaper than the Totoro DVD (¥4,935) for example. Not so much the LE DVD or BD prices, though.
It's not unusual for REs to rank for more mainstream movies, or sometimes to sell more than the LEs. While that won't happen here (LE BD will still crush all the rest) I can see it being a much higher percentage of sales for K-ON! than it was for, say, Nanoha or Haruhi.

Um... huh. I kinda would have expected something other than an average school scene. More like the RE. Though it's what's on the box that matters.

Which I'm sure nobody will translate. ;_; I wonder if the tri4 guys who did the Madoka commentaries are K-ON! fans... they've already got a lot on their plate though.

Meant to reply to this earlier, but I'm in agreement. I think RE DVDs could push the total sold to above 150,000 first week and perhaps over 200,000 overall (by sale records, we won't know the printing most likely). I'm highly curious how this will do that week.

pre-movie bit about manners
That would be this (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2011-07-02/k-on-characters-teach-theater-etiquette-in-short), I imagine. I was hoping that would make it onto the movie's BD release.

Nothing pretty, if they intend to have it match the TV anime's boxes.
As for the LE cover, it kinda reminds me of the second K-On!! OP with the desks grouped together like that. Maybe they're getting ready for a classroom concert similar to what was done for Utayo!!MIRACLE? (Don't know if that's actually in the movie, it was just what came to mind when I saw that cover.)

Looks like Amazon is getting quite aggressive about discounting tip-top-tier titles. Fate/Zero also saw 31%, and I think Haruhi Shoushitsu did back in the day, no? I guess this is where they can push really hard on sheer volume.

Amazon had their own special edition of the Shoushitsu LE BD, which was always kept at 20% off their price. As for the normal LE BD, it only dropped to ~28/29% off MSRP. Greater than usual, but not the standard 31% off we're seeing more of.

Three worst JP artboxes I own. Even the Clannad/Kanon BD artboxes were better. Even if they were terribly boring, they were at least classy. All of K-ON!'s boxes are just garish, hideous monstrosities.

Maybe it's because I live in the UK so I can in some weird way relate to the box art, but I think this one is kinda cute in a way. It's not exactly amazing all by itself, but it's a step up from the TV series' boxes. (That's not exactly saying much.)

I normally wouldn't make another post about a single store's bonus item, but the extra cover (http://image.books.rakuten.co.jp/books/img/item/parts/dvd/2012/4988013118461-orgnljkt.jpg) that Rakuten is providing with a purchase of the LE BD is quite nicely designed. I'm tempted to order from there.

I'm trying to recall where I read that it was only 450 pages. I'm not surprised at the length of the storyboards. Having seen the Hanasaku Iroha OP/ED storyboards, I can see how these would be that long. Not to mention how huge (http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg4/ultimatemegax/Haruhi%20Images/BD%20Images/Shoushitsu/shoubd0144.jpg) the storyboards were for Shoushitsu (look bottom middle of the image). KyoAni certainly gives you a lot for their movies (not based on Munto).

Alrighty...I should now place my pre-order with Amazon since the weight of the whole thing is probably gonna make EMS shipping more expensive than Amazon's flat-rate service.
Just gotta find something else to put on the order that comes out in July now.

It's not unprecedented. The LD boxset (http://svenge.pcriot.com/evasite/jpld/kila9401.htm) of the Evangelion movies released back in 1998 had a storyboard book for Death(True)² + The End of Evangelion that weighed in at 800-900 pages...

Got my copy from Rakuten Books along with their exclusive replacement cover.
Unfortunately it was just tossed in the bottom of the shipping box (Rakuten Books's packing is pretty much the same as Amazon JP, although they seem to use sturdier outer boxes) along with the invoice without anything to protect it, and got some crumples/creases in it. But they responded to my polite complaint in like 10 minutes and said they would send a new one, and that I could just dispose of the damaged one.
Anyone here want the damaged one for the cost of shipping (will probably be less than $2 from Japan)?
I'd prefer to give it to someone who has done favors for me in the past (like given me their Emotion Points from Bandai Visual releases), but if multiple people want it I'll try to be fair in who I pick.
Edit: So far, no takers. I can't bring myself to throw out something so moe, so this offer will likely remain valid until someone contacts me, even if it's years later.

Well, between having none at all and having one that is damaged, I would prefer to have it. (I love too much K-On! to pass on this opportunity). Of course, I unfortunately did nothing for you in the past... I don't know how long you want to wait to see if more people would ask for it, but I can wait (and hope). At this point, it's your call, I will respect any decision you'll take.

OK, well it's been 2 days (almost exactly) and you're the only one who's expressed any interest, so unless someone speaks up before I receive the replacement (I want to make sure it's not even more damaged), it's yours.
The damage isn't too bad, you might be able to flatten it out by putting it in a book or something.
