For better or worse, and unsurprisingly either way because I don't read much manga, I know little about Jojo besides the strange art style and the fact that it's been going on for about 1000 years. But I've obviously heard of it.

And now it's getting a TV anime in the fall. I may have to watch out of morbid curiosity. But I do wonder if there's any chance of animating such a long and beloved and relatively old franchise without massively disappointing the fans. No news on a studio yet.

I wonder if this will be a serial, or if it'll be similar to Bakuman. But from what I know about Jojo there is so much to adapt, and to adapt that faithfully would require the series to be some kind of serial, be it like One Piece, or Bakuman, or Hunter X Hunter. (I assume HXH is going the Fullmetal Alchemist route of getting a faithful adaptation as the manga is drawing to a close, but I don't know enough about HXH)

I guess one good thing is that if they just follow the original manga, they've at least got a complete story already, so there should be no filler. Unless the original continues directly into the spinoffs and doesn't resolve things by itself.

Coming to a close? Who knows... at the rate Togashi actually shows up to work (i.e. not often) it's hard to say what the hell is planned. But from what I understand this adaptation is very faithful, yes.

I'm curious as to what they intend to animate. Will they start from the very beginning, or will they start with the third - and most prolific - arc?

I'd honestly be surprised if they went with the former.

I'm game. Loved the OVA series Super Techno Arts managed to release (especially the the early story material which was a later animation production ( ^^U ) and which had pacing I liked more.

OP and ED themes revealed. (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-09-14/uk-band-yes-singer-tommy-perform-jojo-bizarre-adventure-themes)

OP is an original song written by Kouhei Tanaka, who worked on One Piece.

ED is "Roundabout" by Yes. Yes, they're using a classic Western prog rock song for the ending. (According to comments in the ANN thread, this is actually very fitting for the series.)

Well, the ED is guaranteed to be awesome now. Only question is, if this show gets licensed for the US for streaming and/or home video, will they be able to keep the song (for more than one episode)?

Based on the solicitations, this is at least two cour. Not surprising, as I doubt any part of it can be usefully adapted in just 13 episodes.

You probably know this already 3 months after the fact, but, the new anime is starting from the beginning. Good for me since I really don't know much about the first two parts as I started off with Stardust Crusaders, like some other western fans.

I don't think the two parts of the manga were released in English either.
