Ah, good ol' Hidamari Sketch. Now with a quite-appropriate honeycomb countdown.

Everyone knows Sae and Hiro are married. Everyone. Including the rest of Hidamari-sou, who all know the class trip is simply a belated honeymoon.

Speaking of wanting more, though, I'd like more of their classmates. Especially that pinkish-white-haired one. Another win for this show's supporting cast.

Other than that, more Hidamari = awesomeness all around. Definitely want more.

Oh, and yet another excellent marble ending.

- Ah, the familiar sounds of Hidamari-sou cheer her up. Even (or especially) Miyako's cacophony.

May 6-15
Hidamari chronology tiiiime! This episode happens after S3 Ep7 (May 3-4, Chika visits during the second year). And it covers a period that includes S3.5 Ep SP2 Pt A (May 9, Hiro and the girls wash their curtains) and S3 Ep 8 Pt A (May 13-14, Yuno and Miyako miss the cafeteria's crab day).

- Super detective Miyako investigates loud noises coming from Sae's room.
- Oooh, Sae and Hiro had friends over. Friends who like to embarrass Sae in front of Yuno and Miya. =D
- "Honeymoon?" Ahaaha, it's so obvious to everyone.

- Yoshinoya-sensei! She's reaching new heights in avant garde cosplay. She's a sea urchin!
- Yoshinoya-sensei is the cutest teacher ever.

- Natsume! Natsume's plight depresses me. I so want her to find love. And she loves Sae. But Sae and Hiro are a perfect married couple. Poor Natsume. ;_;

Hidamari chronology tiiiime! This episode happens directly after the first half of this episode, and comes before S3 Ep 9 Pt B (May 21, sketching light and shadow motifs, hitting the "Crying Woman" rock)

- And off they go. Yuno and Miya are now the oldest ones left. Now they're feeling the responsibility! Er, well, Yuno is at least.

- Ume-tentei, BLAST OFF!
- Man, green-haired girl looks like the love child of Yuno and MadoMagi's Sayaka.
- More fun at Sae's expense.
- ALPACA.

- Back home, Yuno continues to wonder... and gets a perfect opportunity! Train Nazuna in the ways of nikujaga, assuming the first taste of Nazuna's attempt doesn't kill you.
- ...Doesn't go too well. You tried, Yuno-senpai.

It's a private school; they can install mechanical risers for the principal if they want to.

And Sae and Hiro can communicate without talking. Their married couple skills are getting stronger every episode.

Miyako has no shame. Also, she plays dominoes with squatting students.

Poor Yuno in the earthquake simulator. I hope she was safely under that table, at least.

I love how supportive Nori is of Nazuna, even when separated by their different departments. And she even tries to pass it off as though she didn't intend to help her. Silly Nori.

August 31st
Huh, this is the farthest episode in the timeline ever. Previously the latest episode was the pool episode, in the second half of the first ep of the xSP specials. Aug 28 that was.

- Bad weather means no shopping. Empty fridge means hungry Miya. The solution? Hiro-saaan!
- ::twitches:: I love how Miyako instinctively puts her arm around Yuno to protect her from the rain. HNNNNNNNNGH.
- Bwhaha everyone has the same idea. Oh Hiro, they would all starve to death without you.
- Miyako why are you so suicidal around Hiro? :sd:

- Macho man weather journalists!
- Why does Japan adore the name "Catherine" so much? It's not quite that common a western name.
- I really like the camera spinning around as everyone talks and plays cards.
- Ahahaha, Nori if you're so sudden about grabbing Nazuna's hand, you're going to give the poor girl a heart attack.

- Landlady makes an appearance. I love the landlady.

September 1st
And so we pick up the very next day for the first day of school after summer break.

- Nakayama and Mami! YAAAAAAAAY!

- Yoshinoya-sensei is probably not the ideal teacher for an emergency evacuation.
- HAHHAA hooooly shit Miyako. That... that was really impressive. Also way to shave a year off the life of every boy (and probably most of the girls) in the class. And that SOUND she made, ahaha.
- Bwhaha, Sae and Hiro don't even need words to communicate.
- Oh god, Nazuna. No peeing! The school is on fire! "Are you going to take responsibility?" o_O

I'll say it ever time: I loooooove Marble. A lovely new ED from them is one of the best things about a new season of Hidamari. Also, Hidamari Chronology (http://www.editgrid.com/user/ano/Hidamari_chronology) spreadsheet is updated.

I really need to watch Hidamari on Sunday nights from now on, if I can bring myself to wait an extra day. There is simply no better show to end the weekend on. About the only show on the same level of pure iyashikei soothing wonderfulness is Aria.

Yuno and Nakayama were in charge of photography, Miya, Sae and Nori competed, Nazuna and Hiro cheered.

September 15th
Continuing two weeks after the previous episode. We'll probably be mostly chronological from here on out. Ever since Nazuna and Nori moved in in Hoshimitsu, the jumping around has dropped considerably. Well, I also assume that's because we've already seen most of he earlier material animated by now.

- Miyako can get ready for the day in 10 seconds. Now that is a superpower anyone would want.
- Nakayama! I can never get enough of the classmates. It's also weird seeing Nakayama without Mami joined at the hip.
- Sukumizu Miyako. <3
- THAT EYECATCH. GODDAMN. <3^2

- Haha, taking photos goes from a bit of fun to a terrifying responsibility. But awesome, Nakayama and Yuno get to hang out.
- I thought the shaking compensation gag was going to be for a picture of the principal, but this was pretty funny. Nakayama is paranoid.

- Miyako does a hundred situps first thing in the morning. She's dedicated.
- Haha, Nazuna painted herself into a delicious chicken-scented corner. Save her, Yuno-sama!
- Actually shouldn't she just ask Hiro?

- Haha, Yuno had the same thought.
- Down to the first floor, everyone! Let's ask mom and mom for help.
- Hiro can't stop herself from drawing Sae. =D God they're such a lovely married couple.
- Nazuna can't cook but she's got display down!

A week and a half after the previous segment.

- Haha, poor Nori. Nightmares, banging on her walls, phones ringing. She's being haunted by the poltergeist of Hidamari-sou! (...Ume-tentei?)
- Nori and Sae. Talk about an unusual combination. This is nice to see.
- Also, that ponytail. Nori you're adorable.
- Nori has nightmares about computer crashes and lack of backups. First world problems eh, Nori?
- It's a little hard to tell who is the senpai or not when Nori is around the other girls. :sd: But oh Sae, you're a good senpai.
- HAHAAH oh god it turns into a battle between digital and analog. Nori is going to drag Hidamari-sou into the 21st century if it kills her!
- But man leave it to these two to get into a fight about dictionaries.
- Hah. Sae might be the mature one who apologized first, but NOri is able to claim maturity in other areas.

- "I don't feel like I'm talking to someone younger when I talk to you." Yeah, like I was saying. You can totally see the senpai-kouhai dynamic with the third years and second years, and even second years and Nazuna. But Nori really bucks the trend.
- "There's no noe to give you food, clean your room, or do your laundry." ...Actually, I have a feeling Hiro does all of those things for Sae, regularly.
- Yes! You better invite Chika-chan over again before this season ends.

- Oooooooooh! The morning after. Hiro is approaching. Sae, hide the evidence of your infidelity!
- Haha, Hiro is so confused.
- A shower scene? In my Hidamari? Nori, you're breaking all the rules!

Also ohmygodohmygodohmygod, no Yuno bathing scene! I don't know if I can survive the coming week without my weekly dose of naked Yuno. ;_; It is nice to get the other girls (Hiro, Miyako and Sae need their turns!) but I'm going to need to rewatch the end of another episode before I can sleep soundly tonight.

So much fried chicken. Of course, while the rest of the cast gets sick of the sight after a while, Miyako is completely in heaven. After all, she doesn't have to worry about food bills for the next, oh, week or so.

Of course, Hiro loves drawing pictures of sleeping Sae.

Second half:

LOL, Nori's nightmares are my nightmares, too. :P

I love it when shows like this experiment with different pairings of the main characters (my favorite episode of Hoshimittsu was where Yuno spent a night with each of the other Hidamari girls in turn), so it was fun to see Nori and Sae go at it with each other. Especially since the two are on similar levels of maturity... and completely different levels of technological familiarity.

Of course, the other advantage of "unusual" pairings like this is that the usual partner (in this case, Hiro) can catch them together the next morning, resulting in a great moment of awkward confusion. :P

I don't know if I can survive the coming week without my weekly dose of naked Yuno. ;_; It is nice to get the other girls (Hiro, Miyako and Sae need their turns!) but I'm going to need to rewatch the end of another episode before I can sleep soundly tonight. It's Nazuna and Nori's formal acceptance into the Hidamari Apartments. Something, we've been through this before. Turn back the hands of time to X365, and we have bathings scenes of Sae and Hiro in episode 6, and Ms. Yoshinoya in episode 9.

- Yuno does an awkward-looking look-back because SHAFT. Wouldn't have it any other way.

- Funny face Yuno. And an unusual camera angle on Yoshinoya-sensei. We don't see that side of the classroom often.
- Hands are free! Hooray for hands!
- Miyako remembers every day of her life. Scary.
- Cute Yuno legs.
- Ahahahaha, sneering Yuno. And Miyako so cheerfully telling her it's wrong.

The day after Sae cheats on Hiro with Nori.

- But it's great to see a fretting, needy Sae. She's always trying to hard to put up a good attitude with her kouhai, but when she's alone with Hiro she can act a little spoiled. So cute.

- Man. Yoshi nailed it. Love you soo much.
- Hiro is sad. I'm crying. ;_; For her, for the idea of any of these girls graduating, for the possibility that this could be the last season of Hidamari. I'm not ready to let go. ;_;
- Then Yoshinoya-sensei interrupts on sad time, but it's really cute that she worries she was too blunt. Awww.

- Now everyone is chipping in for Hiro! Even Miyako wants to help with cooking (and not just to sneak a few bites!).
- Heh, I love the difference in reaction from Nazuna (panic!) and Nori (total calm).
- The kouhai do their thing, but in the end it's Sae who needs to nurse Hiro's heart.
- DGRARGHBKLARYRYGRARGHLLY!!!!!!! This moment. This moment! Sae consoling Hiro, Hiro voicing her fears, promises that they'll stay the same and never leave each other, Hiro's arms clinging desperately to Sae's back. This episode is KILLING ME. Holy shit. And daaaamn, Hiro always looks gorgeous with her hair down.

Between the blatant YunoMiya shipping and ohmygod Hiro-saaaaaaaaan this was absolutely one of the best episodes ever of one of the best shows ever.

I'm just... wow. Seriously. Blown away to say the least.

It will be interesting to see if this does end up with a fifth season to wrap things up- it's already up there as being somewhat anomalous as a late-night non-Shounen Jump-type show that has gotten 4 seasons, I don't think ANY have gotten 5 yet have they? Of course, I'd keep watching it through however many they want to make- at least through when Yuuno and Miya graduate. Or go further and follow them all to college- though unfortunately unlike Houkago Teatime it sounds like they won't all be going to the same college. But I'd bet they try and stay at least remotely near each other...

No doubt, Hidamari confirmed for best show of Fall, hands down. Goddamnit this series. It makes me feel good in places I didn't know I had. Ume-tentei and Shaft have put together quite simply the most pleasant world this side of Neo Venezia.

I'm glad that the show didn't play Natsume completely for the humor. She really does love Sae and it was nice to see them have some quality time together. It's still sad though, since this season has made it clear that Sae is committed to staying with Hiro. Which is all the more reinforced by Sae saying in the first half that a lot of things happen in life and "Getting married isn't all there is to it." While sitting next to Hiro.

The first half was so hilarious! Yoshinoya-sensei is a riot. It's not often that I laugh out loud during Hidamari, since my usual reaction is more "Aww..." But this segment was so funny. :bigsmile:

This episode was a great end to the latest incarnation of Hidamari (and I sincerely hope it continues for a looooong X^_____^X time), with lots of great moments for pretty much every character (except a sadly absent imouto...). Even Miya's boyfriend made an appearance!

Unfortunately... I've been watching SHAFT shows for a bit too long, and can tell that they were running late on this episode and didn't get all of the animation done. :sweat: I can't wait for the disc-based version...

The mailboxes thing is AWESOME. I'd say, "I must track down one of those Yuno figures," but some googling shows that they're actually (FINALLY) making Hidmari Sketch Nendoroids, so I'll be getting those instead. I hope they make all six of them! (and all the side characters would be nice too...)

And that sure was a fantastic episode. A really nice closure to the forth season. Yes, I said forth season, which means I’m waiting for the fifth. I definitely hope they will announce season five as soon as possible.

This season was really good; it was the first one I watched simulcast and I can say that watching it while reading comments from others really add to the experience.
