That was a very strong first episode.

I love Aki, she's even better than I was hoping for from the PV. And Kai is above average for male leads. He's no Okabe Rintarou, but I never expected him to be.

I'm looking forward to meeting the other girls, particularly blondie (she sure had an interesting look on her face in the OP) and the dark skinned girl. And then there's the grey haired girl at the end. In most shows, I'd think she was just chuu2-ing, but here, there's a good chance she's *actually* a time traveler.

This was one of the best first eps of the season and I'm pretty excited for where things can go from here.... but I'm a little concerned about that thing about the anime episode, as it seems destined to be a major plot point in the future and its already a little questionable. Doesn't help that the game apparently got pretty heavy negative reactions from people who have played it, and its generally unwise to expect anime to rectify shortcomings in the source material.

Edit: And interesting that the ED focuses exlusively on the girl that just appeared at the very end of the episode.

Aki pretty much carried the whole episode while Kai was engrossed in his game and augmented reality app on his pokecom.

I am pretty excited to see them actually continue building the robot though.

I thought the same thing with the anime episode things...seemed a little too obvious.

Also, I've read a few reactions from people who have played the game and overall consensus was it was decent...nothing amazing or mindblowing say like S;G reactions. The thing is that R;N is a much different beast even though it's part of the science adventure series than S;G or C;H Someone online, forgot who, mentioned that the game is more science than adventure and how the series has shifted towards that with each subsequent game

I have a copy of the game shipping to me at the end of the month...I'll try and play the game while watching the anime (sort of what I tried to do with Steins;Gate).

Those two (Kai & Aki) in the robotics club sure were interesting characters.
Kai has some potential. Seems like he's not just an ordinary guy.
So it's all about Gunvarrel, the robot that's insanely popular.
Keeping the club, finishing the robot and winning the tournament.
Screams easy.... doesn't it? LOL

My Steins;Gate successor is finally here! Eh... decent first episode, I guess. Aki seems to have all of Okabe's enthusiasm without a lot of his creativity, while Kai is just kind of there, likeable enough when he decides to do something. Steins;Gate didn't have the most exciting first episode, but it was clearly setting a lot of interesting plot up, while this is pretty standard. There's some mystery with the girl at the end (and starring in the ED), so I assume that will lead to something good, hopefully soon.

The robotics club is down to two members, a boy who is a master at fighting games, and an energetic girl. They aim to build a robot, but require a massive budget, and facing an uphill battle. And then Airi shows up.

The show gets off to a strong start as it sets up the story nicely. At the very least, it starts off in a much less complicated manner than Steins;Gate did. Should be a great show as the first episode is great.

Still love Akiho. She's fantastic. Love her little glasses schtick, but that's only slightly more amusing than anything else she does.

But that she's so fun and awesome in general just makes me more annoyed at the stuff near the end with her talking about how Kai should be the operator. No! She's the one with the passion for this! Why the fuck should the guy who doesn't give a shit be the one to achieve this for her?

At least the elephant mouse syndrome is something new and unusual.

On a brighter note, we met the cute karate girl, Daitoku Junna. She's voiced by Tokui Sora.... who also voices Sasami in Little Busters and has otherwise done slightly more than jack shit and her only notable prior role is Nero in Milky Holmes.

Wait she has attacks that do what? I don't even...the fuck?

Anyway, Aki's still amazing, and I don't really mind that Kai's the operator, since thats clearly the only thing he's good at. Jackass.

Also yay karate girl and lol Passion Fruit Buns.

The little rebuilt robot was cute at the end. Aki continues to be super-genki girl, but it's nice to understand a little more of Kai even if he's apathetic in the club. We do know he does care about Aki (still wondering if he really cares or its sort of guilt care) and he has an interest in Robo-One, but only if it's played like Kill Ballad (haha...what a condition to actually have an interesting) - makes sense if the two want to actually win the tournament.

A few things were interesting in the episodes that I feel will be brought up in the future - Aki's sister is probably involved with something (maybe something connected with the missing Gunvarral episode?), Aki's syndrome, (why show the aurora borealis twice in the episode. I have to agree that what she has is extremely strange....) and Hidaka showing up at the parts store. I do have to wonder if that's Misa or Aki's mom at the end...

Hmm...so far they are building a robot for a competition, but I have to wonder what's the trigger for the craziness that'll happen.

Working on a small robot for the tournament.
Getting parts for it was a pain.
Doc was a hard nut to crack..
Kai just plays that game all the time.
Wonder how much he'll contribute in the tournament.

This episode has no big changes from the first episode as far as the plot or anything that was teased near the end of it, but there are some nice dramatic moments as well as some comedy that makes the male lead a little more fun than he has been before. There’s still a lot of potential for this to become something a lot more.

Buckeye
10-19-2012, 10:12 PM
Here's the situation: The tournament is coming up, and Aki and Kai need to build a robot. The problem: they can't afford high-end parts and they don't have time to create a robot out of cheaper parts. Withdrawing from the tournament is not an option. With the club funds on the line, there is only one course of action: use the old Tanegachi robot, but one in need of a new battery system. With Doc unwilling to budge from his demands, Kai has a solution: pay with advanced allowance and tournament prize money. And the robot is tournament-ready, but the controls are too much for Aki. So an audible is called, and Kai with his Kill-Ballad knowledge takes control. The next problem: Gotta contact Frau Kojiro to change the controls, but she's not budging for some reason.

That was a nice episode there seeing Aki trying to plead to Doc for the parts, but seeing how passionate they are about the tournament, Kai was able to convince Doc that they can win the tournament, and then pay for the parts. And then there is the passion fruit bun that is quite unusual to see being served at a convenience story. That was nice, and now there is the whole how-to-control Tanegachi problem. The next episode, we will see exactly what's going on with Frau and how the robot's control system will get converted.

Episode 1:

- Holy crap. Best app EVER.
- Akiho is adorable. Even when not a nekomimi waitress.

Well. I didn't really have anything to say except Aki LOOOOOOOOOVE. I'll definitely continue with this.

Not feeling the OP yet, but the ED is really nice.

Episode 2:

- This really is all about Aki for me. Kaito isn't bad per se, but his deadbeat attitude is a little annoying. I wish he'd help Aki out at least a little. Of course he cares about her and all that. But I'll like him more when he shows it.
- Sister trauma, blackmail, and really nasty steamed buns.
- Busty convenience store lady has one of them exoskeletons? I wonder what happened to her.

- Junna! Briefly.
- Heh, I want more of that noise Aki made when her ear got tickled...
- And they have a robot! But Aki can't control it. Why she thinks playing a videogame would make Kai suited to a very different controller is beyond me but at least it'll give him something to do.

- Five minutes of time in one second. How... how does that work? If only one second passes, what is happening in those five minutes? Replaying memories?
- Oh huh. I didn't think they'd actually give a reasonable justification for why Kill Ballad was relevant at all to conrolling the robot. But this totally works - making the controller match the game controls.

Very promising show. Aki is one of the top characters of the season, without a doubt.

The plan is still absurd. Though I'm betting the creator of Kill-Ballad is the blonde girl with crazy hair. Because of course it is.

No, (I'm assuming) she's perceiving 5 minutes in 1 second. Nothing else is happening, its like she's seeing everything in fastforward (at x 300 speed). Since there's no way for her to possibly information at that rate, 5 minutes basically disappears for her. She effectively goes into a 5 minute coma.

And I finally start the Fall season.

- Oh really? An app that add nekomimi? Wow!
- And a tail…and an outfit… Incredible!
- Some b00b reported him cheating? Oh he meant d00d… Ok…
- Don’t speak that way to Aki… and why you would anyone not want to be followed by Aki?
- Maybe Aki should change outfit when she is working on the robot.
- I want to know more about the girl just before the ED.

It was a really good first episode. I love Aki so much already. No doubt I’ll continue this one.

That was a really fun episode overall. My only issue which was struck me was when Aki apologized to Kai for roping him into this mess - no need to feel bad at all.

The Robo-One battles were really fun to watch though. I did find it a little too convenient that FRAUKOUJIRO gave the source code for the Kill-Ballad controls easily to Kai (maybe due to being a top player?). Best part though was Mister Pleiades - like a rock-star wrestler. I'm glad Kai was able to figure out who it was unlike some other anime... (of course it should be easy to figure out due to the name...I keep forgetting that). The finals also showed that Kai can see things in slow-motion which is like the opposite of Aki's condition (there was a quick flashback - looks like something happened in his past?).

While Kai has been quite apathetic so far, the end was actually really good. I loved how he roped in Subaru with his trick.

Two things left unanswered - what's the deal with the evil dude who watched the tournament along with Aki's sister and FRAUKOUJIRO moving to the island (same girl as we saw at the end of episode 1?)

FRAUKOUJIRO moving to the island (same girl as we saw at the end of episode 1?)

No, the girl at the end of episode 1 is the purple haired one in the ED.

Anyway

That was pretty awesome! Kai's finally pulled the stick out of his butt, so he's actually getting interesting. I figured out who FRAUKOUJIRO was, but nice to see it confirmed.

I was not expecting Subaru to show up and do his best GINGA BISHONEN impression, however. He's got a serious unresolved case of Chuu2.

Guess we are not too far from that future world.
The tournament has finally begun.
Tanegashimachine-3 vs Devilstronger!
That was a really nice battle. That control system rules!
They swept the competition with ease until finale, but Kai seemed off.

We cover a lot of ground in this one, and along with introducing a few more minor concepts of potential mystery and intrigue for the future, the club ends up with a new member. The series keeps subtly adding new elements that will hopefully be implemented well in the end, but I’m not sure how long it will take. For now, a reluctant addition to the club should add some more fun for the regular activities, if that’s what we’ll be focusing on for another few episodes after all.

HitokiriShadow
10-26-2012, 10:21 PM
So, it turns out Hidaka is hilariously Chuu2 and gets blackmailed into joining the Robotics Club.

We get the beginnings of a bigger plot outside the robot competition, with Akiho's sister working for some guy that's involved with "The Committee" and they seem to have an interest in Kai. It seems he also suffers from some sort of mysterious ailment and it looks like its the opposite of Akiho's. He experiences time in slow motion, though his body seems to be able to move at normal speed. It looks like it puts a strain on his body though. I suspect the incident Akiho and Kai got their ailments from involved time travel.

And then Frau appears, exactly the person I expected her to be.

Still really wish Akiho was the one actually controlling the damn thing. She really should have been the one to kick the harassing asshole's ass.

Time for the robot fighting tournament. Even without much sleep, Kai still wiped out the competition. And then came the defending champion Mr. Pleiades, and thanks to having his left leg jammed, Kai met his match. As it turns out, Pleiades is none other than his fellow classmate Subaru, so the school did win and the club stays. Next up, JAXA.

Great episode there as there was the robot wars, and then there was the big moment where the club gains a new member even though Subaru isn't exactly thrilled to be a part of it. Then there is Frau moving to the island, and it sets the stage for more robots being built.

Well, Frau, or rather Kona, is quite different than I was expecting. She seems to be a recluse that prefers communicating in net/2ch speak.

And now our cute time traveler has finally made contact. But she can only be seen and heard through that device?

Also, really getting tired of Kai's shit and that homo comment certainly did not help.

This episode continues to introduce characters, or at least show us what they’re really like, in the case of characters we’ve only seen little snippets of. Kona is main addition to the cast, and surprised me in that she’s actually a major internet nerd who can’t help but use internet slang in her normal sentences. I’m curious to see what develops with the mysterious girl that has only been seen in small amounts up to now, as well as how the ailments/abilities affecting Aki and Kai connect to everything else that’s going on. There’s a lot of good potential in all this, but I’m still kind of holding my breath waiting to see how it’s all executed.

Feels likes we're in chapter 2 of the game now.

Its like things went back to square-one, though. I thought Kai would continue helping out Aki like in the last two episodes prepping for the tournament. It's like he cared for a moment, but now doesn't care. Thankfully Subaru was able to get him on his terms.

Frau Koujiro was a riot speaking in netslang and being a recluse though. Interesting that hhe mysterious girl that can only be seen and heard on the little tablet Kai carries with him.

Rocket launch event tied with the northern lights, mass fainting and Aki and Kai strange syndrome. How does that ties into everything else?

- Now we're at the finals. Okay then.
- Ahaha did not expect this to be Subaru's masked personality.

And here comes Frau, or rather Kona, and she is quite a different person than expected. She just moved in, and is speaking using chat room language. While the robotics club did win the prize money, none of it will be coming until next year. And then the secret is out about Kai and Aki: They were infected with some disease while on a ferry on the 9th anniversary of 9/11. It seems like Aki's world has sped up while Kai's has slowed down. And then Airi makes her appearance in Kai's tablet.

Another great episode here, and that Frau girl is a rather interesting person seeing how the creator of this game is not an adult guy, but a girl still going to high school. And now I can see why Kai is so good at Kill Ballad as it appears that his brain is accelerating, or something like that. And of course, there is the appearance of someone who looks like a younger version of Belldandy that sets the stage for more great things in the coming episodes.

We know some more about Daitoku, who is into karate and Kai is getting her to join the club. And then Airi finally shows up as she is an AI, and Kai is the only person able to sense her appearance. After meeting her, Kai stumbles upon something that turns out to be a huge cover-up job by NASA. The sun is on the verge of exploding, yet none of that information is public knowledge.

After the first four episode focuses on robots, this one is the start of a huge conspiracy, much like what Chaos;Head and Steins;Gate are all about. And seeing the young Belldandy as the AI finally making an appearance is also great. It's the start of something that should be great.

Kai is so strange. He seems so lackadaisical, but at the same time he cares about stuff outside of Kill Ballad as seen in this episode. But, he doesn't care about the robot club or robots really.

The second half is a little more interesting due to conspiracies and the mysterious girl showing up who's an AI (voiced by Kugyuu~). I died a little hearing her say the words "onii-chan." I want a Kugyuu~ who'll call me onii-chan...haha.

Anywho...learning about Sister Centipede was a little strange until the end where there seem to be a possible correlation due to her being an info collector. I do find it weird that he was able to access some strange, secret document that talks about a NASA coverup. But, that name...Kimijima means something since the store clerk was surprised at it.

This is starting to get interesting, but I have to wonder how the conspiracy will tie into robots.

It feels like a lot was accomplished in this episode, but really, it’s only the very beginning. It only feels that way because of how relatively insignificant everything before this point has been. This is definitely where the story is making its real stand, and I’m glad for what that may bring. I’m still a little worried that the foundation for that to be properly compelling hasn’t been established firmly enough, but I can’t really say how it will be when the real plot has only just began to surface.

Considering the configuration of Steins;Gate and the fact that this has about the same number of episodes (and series composition is even by the same guy), I’m not surprised to see that it seems to be following its pacing for the most part. The big plot is introduced already, but instead of moving toward that entirely, most of the characters continue to go about their business relatively peacefully, while the protagonist digs deeper on what’s sure to encompass the story eventually.

I'm really excited about seeing more of the characters of one of my favorite anime of all time, but I'm a little worried that it may make me care about the actual characters of this show even less than I already do.

At least Frau reveals some secrets that make her a more interesting character. It is fitting that the anime creator's daughter would go on to create its game spinoff.

Also, really getting tired of Kai's shit and that homo comment certainly did not help. Its like things went back to square-one, though. I thought Kai would continue helping out Aki like in the last two episodes prepping for the tournament. It's like he cared for a moment, but now doesn't care.
Not sure what to make of Kai. I liked how he handled the tournament, and it's obvious to me that he really does care about Aki. But the way the writing is taking one step forward and two back with him is a little frustrating. But it's only episode 4 of a two-cour show, so I hope once ED girl gets them mixed up in something crazy, he won't have the luxury of being so apathetic.

Apparently things go quite well for them in the next ~7 years, since they seem to have gotten quite the budget. Of course, this will all be resolved just fine, since they'll have to send Hibito to the moon in another ~5 years.

Because most people have mobile phones or some other mobile device that can also tell time. Wearing a watch is considered old-fashioned I guess :)

But in the meantime, it's great to have Frau and Jun on-board with the club to build robots that will change the world someday. And then Subaru's father comes out being such a douchebag telling his son what to do when he grows up. Ok, now THIS I'm quite interested in... Hopefully they'll be nice and not just release it Japan-only.

I've played with some of the AR overlay apps before, but that's been at least a year or two ago- I imagine they've only gotten better at keying off of reference points, but it will be interesting to see how they actually do it off of a Nendo instead of a specialized barcode/target. Some photo apps will automatically place nekomimi or the likes, but those I've seen were not real time overlay but ones where you took a picture and it automatically placed the ears...

Dat happy Aki face.

Naturally, it all comes crashing down by the end. This does make JAXA's conditions look immensely more reasonable. The design is nearly a decade old, there have been many advancements and the parts themselves are old, and it would be very difficult if not impossible to just swap out old parts for new ones or modify the existing design. At the very least, starting from scratch would be much, much easier. Though they could probably carry over a few things, particularly aesthetic designs like the face.

Also, not nearly enough Nae though. But wtf is wrong wit you Kai, did you not see her face? I'm sure she would have piloted the thing if asked.

So Kai spilled the Kimijima report to Kona.

At least those two managed to find the truth behind cheaters.

Ah, so it wasn't that today was the end of the world, it was that today was the day we'd learn about the end of the world, which we don't need to expect for another few years.

If I took every anime seriously when it said it was the end of the world, I'd have gone insane long ago... And why do all the skeptics on the internet believe that four minutes of lightly colored storyboards must come from the actual staff of the biggest anime ever, which ended four years ago, especially when it's so drastically different from the huge number of episodes that were most definitely from the real show?

But yeah, obviously whoever put this out is connected to Kimijima and knows their shit, and Kai definitely has to be freaking out after just learning that this very event is tied directly to the near future of the world. I don't imagine it was Frau's dead mother and the rest of that staff, but there has to be some connection for it to make sense that this would be brought to light through GUNVARREL. And then there's all the dead KILL-BALLAD champions. Watch out, Kai! I'm definitely curious to see how this will all be connected. Definitely no comparison to the impact of... oh let's say episode 12 of Steins;Gate! But still... interesting...

Nice to see @channel still just as popular, anyway.

Jun focused episode. At least we get her backstory and why she hates robots - that's good to know.

Judging from the Jun focus and looking through the Robono materials guide book, this episode seems to cover the Jun ending you could get in the game (can't verify it myself yet since I haven't gotten up to that point). From the preview video that was shown at C83, I assume the next episode is going to be Frau focused and then the next episode might cover another ending before going to the true route.

I think learning more about the other characters this way is good for anime viewers since, at least with Jun, right now, it answers some questions viewers would have.

And Frau was acting pretty weird throughout, even moreso than usual, as if she was hyped up on caffeine or something.

I'm pretty sure they were just cutting away from her while she puked. One of those "crap, my life just got even worse, I think I'm going to be sick" kind of things. Although it's just a guess.

And, there was no blood in the bathroom when Kai went in there. I figured Kai would call an ambulance and she'd be saved before dying. But, after thinking it over, I'm wondering if he got to her before she actually got the deed done.

More strange Kimijima reports, then the last episode of Gunvarrel and the subliminal messages in the pictures (I have a feeling the pictures of the rooms in the abandoned building could be the building Kai first met Airi) and the solar flares hitting the Kanto region.

Well, they have mentioned robotic making companies all show long. And, the "evil plot" has mentioned robots going berserk for several episodes. Shouldn't be that much of a surprise at this point.

Grandpa's robots were hand made, by a mechanic in whats essentially a small, rural town, something like 8-10 years ago, if I had to guess. Doubtful something like that would represent what a robotics corp could make in the shows "present" time.

The news was specifically calling them service robots. Most likely the type of thing that would be used in factories and such. Why on earth would something like that be running around the streets of a small town like what the show takes place in?

Well, putting that aside, the show does manage to confuse me the more episodes I watched.

I had assumed, up to this point, that....

1. Exoskeleton was part of the council of 300's plans, and helping to end the earth as we know it.

2. The makers of the Gunvarrel anime found out about the plans, and were trying to broadcast an episode that would explain it all to the public, when they all got murdered by the council (except for frau's mom, who went into hiding).

3. Frau's mom (or someone else we dont know) finally released what had actually been made of the show, as a warning.

This episode casts at least a little doubt on most of those speculations.

The "evil 2" in exoskeleton were actually having to research what was going on with the gunvarrel anime? And, the whole time they were talking about the council, and the "plan", they proved they were aware of it, but it almost sounded like they were onlookers, instead of someone involved with the plan. Are they evil, or not? The president, or whatever he is, certainly looks the part, heh.

Also, it appears now that the people making the anime were brainwashed into making the last episode by the council themselves (or someone else?), and frau's mom broke free of the brainwashing and sealed the episode herself.

It appears I never had any real clue what was going on, and probably still don't

They had enough opportunities to show us robots working on the island. When grandpa was in the hospital they could have had a nurse robot. We could have seen a few robots in the multiple visits to JAXA. At the school we could have seen robots moving gym equipment or something in the background.

But no. We just get Sis on tv mentioning robot accidents. That to me sounded like accidents with purely experimental robots. Not something that involved enough robots in a city to clog a four lane highway for as far as the eye could see. The end of episode 13 was the first hint we got that there is what looks like 1 robot for every 10 people in a city.

This was not a shocking surprise twist. This was pulling plot out the show's ass.

It's a pretty interesting contrast to contrast to the other roles I've been hearing right now: the Heroine in Amnesia and Hiromi in True Tears. Both of those are rather quiet, reserved roles which seems to be common for her.

I've liked the quirkiness she's shown as Frau throughout the series, but I took special note of her this episode as she showed some excellent range with the character. I had actually forgotten who Frau's VA was and paid attention to the credits this episode to see. It is so different from what Nazuka usually does that it didn't stick to my mind, I guess, but IMO just shows how good she is with this role.

But seriously, very sweet episode. I'm going to miss Airi a lot, but she got a very nice sendoff, and I like that Geji slips up and refers back to Kai kissing her. I wonder if Kona picked up on that. I'm sure she would've gone on about how much of a player he was if she did.

Didn't fully suspect that Airi wasn't just an AI, but she was actually based off a real person. The beginning of the episode sort of made suspect that, but not fully since promotional images show her around the other characters not inside Iru-O (I always though she was drawn to be included).

Yashio as the pilot was a success.
Looks like those weird Monopoles came in handy.
So far it was better than the previous version.
It even looked cool through their Poke Com.
Kai looking for Kimijima Report No. 7, but they're on to him.
That's not good in any way, he's getting to close to the truth.
Mizuka payed the price for that...

What utter fucking bullshit. A person's center of gravity is 9000 miles high. That is why they fall over easily when pushed above the hips. Then you can pull them by the hands. Just physics.

-Aww. An AI program is wishing for Christmas snow.
-Aww. AI ghost is haunting the classroom. Wait Kai & Aki have classmates? Since when?
-Airi is broken. See this is why you shouldn't let holograms off the holodeck.
-Airi's going to be deleted!... maybe.
-Is the plot turning into a Metal Gear Solid game? Or are these reports just getting more insane?
-Airi has that Innsmouth look... oh wait no. She just has a frog hat.
-The original Airi is kept in cold storage. Cue tragic backstory in 3... 2...
-So Kimijima hung out alot with a sickly underage girl then ends up kidnapping her & storing her in his basement... yeah.
-The police? Wait what? But if they wake her up she'll be in (supposedly) excruciating pain. On one hand that's kind of the logical thing to do, but it also doesn't make any sense in the plot.
-Awww Frau Bow. You are the nicest fictional programmer ever.
-Merry Christmas. And goodbye Airi.

Well I had less to complain about from Kai this week. Story still doesn't seem to be going anywhere though. It's just sort of faffing about with events that were probably in the game but don't seem to have a place here. It's hard to care about these character focusing episodes when the main character who has to interact with everyone else is so dull and lacks energy or motivation. Kai is the pointless secondary character of his own life story.

Got a lot of catching up to do as I have been too lazy to watch this on Funi's platform

- Kaito beats the "Cheater" to get access to the report, and Frau is under the weather.
- Junna is the basis for the robot movements.
- The Kimijima report sure has some ominous stuff in it, and Misaki is involved in it.
- There is a reason why the Gunvarrel finale was never aired and now we see why, the storyboards don't point to a happy ending.
- So the plan is to blow up the sun to take down the enemy, and all of humanity along with it.
- Misaki is definitely hiding something.

This episode was all about Frau and it seems like something big and cruel is about to go down. And why this is kept a secret, that's something that should really be of great interest in the next episodes.

- Happy Birthday, Nae. I'm sure many gifs have been made of her putting on those sunglasses.

- Nae beat Kai at Kill-Ballad!
- Frau time. This is all very interesting stuff, I'm just wondering if it'll all tie together in an interesting way.

- ...Um. Why did Subaru have his Mr. Pleiades outfit with him?
- And the day is saved. I still don't care about Kai and the way his powers were brought out was really dumb. But oh god I love Frau so much.

- Doc is in the hospital. But for some reason he brushes Junna aside.
- So that's what got him in such a mood. Junna was crushed by a robot years ago.
- And Kai stumbles upon a bunch of old robots that Doc built. And some photo.
- Junna is dead set on quitting, but at least she should see the photo first.
- Wait, how does the robot know his name? It's Junna, so that's way.

Nice episode there that is all about Junna and how her past is explained. While the main story takes a backseat, seeing Junna develop as a character here was definitely good.

- It's November, and Nae's birthday.
- There is a lot of hidden messages in the Gunvarrel sketches. It takes a computer whiz to figure it out.
- The report predicts mankind's destruction, and a robot rampage.
- It took an explosion, but the monopole was cut in half.
- And the situation is now dire. Tokyo is in the dark and under attack by rogue robots.
- Even worse, Frau is being framed. Some hacker apparently found out about what Frau is doing.
- And Frau is in the bathtub ready to stab herself. Not is Kai can do anything.

Much like what happened midway through Steins;Gate, this show started off being casual and all of the sudden, the situation has become dire now that the big crisis has been spun into motion. And even worse is that Frau is taking the heat for all this. This episode, crazy things are just happening.

- Gotta win a round of Kill Ballad to get to the bottom of this. Seems like no problem for Kai, but not when the opponent is cheating.
- So the one who hacked into Frau's account was blackmailed into doing so, and is running away to the Philippines.
- That opponent is proving to be difficult. Need to activate slo-mo to beat him.
- The police are after Frau. But the friends are there to the rescue.
- Slo-mo finally kicks in, and Kai finally wins. And the rogue robots are shut down.
- There must be love in the air after Frau was kissing Kai. We'll see about that.
- One week later, Frau joins the club.

Great episode here that shows just how helpful Kai is and how knowledgeable Frau is through this whole mess. It starts out being just a problem in Tokyo, but I am thinking that it becomes a much bigger problem later on. Nice to see that Frau came through in the end and has left her room to go to school.

- So Misaki is the one who gave Mizuka her artificial legs after an accident paralyzed her.
- The robot is complete. Now time for some testing.
- And some bad news. A rocket is about to be launched, and thus the club must leave the JAXA hangar.
- Everything is looking good, but Junna sees it walking crooked for some reason.
- While Subaru is checking out the robot, a sudden gust knocks it crashing onto him.
- Time to download the last report, but not before Mizuka stops him.
- There goes that Kagome Kagome ringtone, and Mizuka's legs have a mind of its own now.
- Not even knocking her down will stop Mizuka from walking off the cliff. Kai isn't going down with her.

Up until now, the situation became dire elsewhere with Kai and company trying to fix things from home, but now things are really getting serious now that Mizuka is dead and Subaru could be biting the dust as well. And then there is something in that report that seems to be trouble if Kai reads it. Just when things were looking up, now the situation has become really troubling.

- Download attempt #2, and Aki is stopped by somebody from Exoskeleton who seems to know everything.
- Protect the Kimijima reports at all costs. That's an order from Misaki.
- Aki can only be as good as mediocre. Seems like Misaki's words are ringing true.
- Kai is ready to throw in the towel, but Aki still has hope. Let's decide this through Kill Ballad.
- And Aki wins. In comes Doc to help with repairs and Mitchi to deliver the prize money.
- Download attempt #3. This time Kai goes through, and everybody around the world knows about them.

Everything that made Steins;Gate so intriguing is on full display with this episode here that starts off with a mood of total mourning for Mizuka, Subaru, and the club, as well as Aki's dream of going to the expo. Through this rough stretch, Aki is the only one who keeps her optimism and she finally gets through. And then there is something about that report that will cause trouble as it's not really a report, but a mechanism that makes the reports public, something that Misaki was trying to avoid at all costs. Looks like widespread chaos of some sort is about to ensue as a result. I am thinking that Mizuka was trying to tell that to Kai, but that was before that phone call that caused her legs to move on its own. Then there is that Sawada guy during Kai's second download attempt, and I am thinking that he is pulling the strings with some sort of conspiracy since news like the solar flares should have been made public years ago. The question that is actually keeping me wondering is - how much does Misaki and Mizuka actually know?

Airi confirmed, when Kai asked, on either the 2nd or 3rd report, that no one had ever attempted to download it before. So, either Airi was lying, or neither of them have read past report 1 or 2.

Of course, both of them are actually old enough to have known Kijima personally. And, perhaps they both learned everything from him first hand.

Well, Misaki could have learned everything when she started working for Exoskeleton, I suppose. And, then filled in Mizuka. But, Misaki did seem to have a severe change in her personality, even before she left to go to Tokyo, so I'm guessing her finding out the worlds secret did it, and she learned before going off to work.

- So much backlash against Gunvarrel. But it looks cool through the tablets.
- Aki and her sister finally meet after seven years apart. Misaki is wearing some robotic suit.
- And Sawada pulls the trigger while Misaki runs away.

Great episode here as it is all about sisters needing to reconnect after being apart for quite a long time. It seems like Misaki is hiding something and since she does not want to shift the burden onto Aki that she has been maintaining her distance. And then there is the scene at the end with Sawada, and apparently he holds some sore of grudge against Misaki. And the real Airi has awoken and Kai has already had a conversation with her. She doesn't remember any of her time as an AI, but I could see those memories coming to her through some event, or at least she'll probably just the main cast and become reacquainted with Kai and the others.

So.... is Misaki trying to avert the whole end-of-the-world-by-solar-flare plot, or initiate it, and is her boss trying to ensure that it happens by shooting her, or stop it? They've done a pretty good job of keeping things hard to determine so far, though obviously you'd expect Misa would be trying to save the world- or at least probably thinks she's trying to and is doing the right thing.

Disappointing they didn't have Jun and Frau at least along... hopefully Frau at least finished the updated balancer for the robot (presumably so, with all that it was doing...)

- So the solar storm is actually artificial, masterminded by Kimijima with Misaki being an puppet. Sawada knows everything.
- Aki is down and out, but she just needs to remember what it felt like to build the robot.
- Tanegashima is being targeted, and while the main airports are out of commission, the one owned by JAXA is still usable.
- Some terrorists broke into Frau's place. But it's Nae to the rescue.
- And in comes Airi. But it's not really Airi, but it's her body with Kimijima's mind.

So the evil boss man is not only opposing Misaki, but he's also a total good guy! Unless we're just getting more bullshit, but with only 3 episodes left, I kinda doubt that. And that makes Misaki not only a bitch, but a villain, one in charge of creating the horrible disaster that will virtually wipe out humanity, which isn't set to occur naturally at all. Of course, it's all Kimijima pulling her strings, so I'm still fully expecting redemption on her part by the end. At this point, though, I also wouldn't be surprised if it came with death.

This certainly makes sense as far as the problem being solvable, though, because it's a lot easier to stop an evil mastermind than a natural disaster. A dead one, at that. If a bitchy older sister must be sacrificed rather than the majority of humanity, well, these things happen. She wouldn't be the first they've lost, nor the most innocent.

Also, Nae gets to be awesome again. And she goes by "S_Braun". That is fantastic. Oh, and it turns out SERN is important to this story as well.

I'd unfortunately lean against being brainwashed as well, primarily because of her regretful-sounding, "Aki..." when she landed on the island in the spider-mech (where's the Sora no Woto girls when you need them?). Assuming she's not gone completely off her rocker, she probably thinks that what she's doing is for the best is necessary even if it's a complete lie by Kimijima.

I expect either Michie or his brother will either sacrifice themselves or at least get shot allowing the others to escape on the plane (who exactly among them can fly it???). With the GunPro2 out of commission (and no way for them to transport it back with them...), I expect that they'll get back to the island and end up having to use the GunPro1 (repaired and upgraded by Doc using all those spare monopoles) and some magic from Frau and that Iru-O altering box Kai was given to fight Misaki and her spider-mech.

Hrm, when she was getting out of that mech, and said Aki, she grabbed her head, like it was hurting her though.

Normally when they do that in anime, it's a way that the show is trying to tell you something isn't right with their head. Even so, I'm still not sure though.

- Kimijima was murdered by Misaki, and the Anemone incident was his doing.
- He may be dead, but he still gets his revenge on Misaki. Controlling her through guilt after publicly outing the murder.
- Aki now has it in her: robots of justice will prevail. Everybody on the island was listening.
- Airi is about to shoot herself thanks to Kimijima. But the bird comes to the rescue.
- Tanegashima is both big and small. And they crash-land back at home.
- So that's the plot. Use JAXA's launching facilities to deliver a black hole bomb into the sun to eradicate humanity.
- The Robotics Club is back, and this time the whole class is joining. So are some of JAXA's top engineers.
- Misaki is also fighting Kimijima. And Geji is set free with the the last report sent.

Looks like Misaki is not the bitch that she was set up to be in the previous episode seeing how she took it upon herself to put an end to Kimijima's evil schemes by murdering him, and the current Misaki is the result of Kimijima taking control of her soul. It's pretty clear that Kimijima is the mastermind behind everything that's wrong with the characters, and now the good guys have one last mission to build that robot so that the launch can be stopped.

Yup. Her 2D wife has become 3D! The part where she wonders if the crash-landing plane was carrying a time-travelling hero was funny too. I wish we could get Frau and Haganai's Rika in the same show. Nerdy pervy female chars are too rare. That they're basically Lynne and Yoshika is an added bonus.

I agree though that the show is too eager to show that justice will prevail over evil. The way everyone on the island decided to help them including the principal and Subaru's father changing their minds was just too feel-good. This isn't an Urobuchi Gen show like Psycho-Pass :D

Oh yeah, the romance. That was pretty similar to the corresponding scene in Steins;Gate, and it wasn't as good, but was still one of the better scenes. Geji's farewell scene with Airi was pretty nice as well.

And Kai gets a switch to turn on his superpowers at a huge risk. I imagine things will work out pretty well anyway.

That music during the middle part of the episode was really well-used as well.

- Sayonara, Sister Centipede... that scene with Airi was really good.
- Now that Sister Centipede disappeared, he wants to make Aki's sister his puppet.... No!
- Aki... why do you care for that guy... why did you kiss that guy... Yeah, I know unfortunately it was inevitable. At least, it gave us a really nice Frau's reaction.

- Everybody is making great progress on the robot.
- Need some data, and Airi gets it. And Kai is having a seizure thanks to that device.
- Kimijima attacks, and he is much different than what Airi remembers. The droids shoot themselves instead.
- Super Gunbuild 1 is complete. And a moment of reunion between Aki and her father.
- Time to talk strategy. Seems like the device will trigger Kai's slow-mo whenever he wants.
- It may end up killing him, but Kai has to pilot the robot. Five billion lives are counting on it.
- The day of reckoning has arrived. But first, a confession of love between Aki and Kai.
- Looks like the rest of the original club members were spying on them.

Nice romantic moment here, and it's great to see the real life Airi doing something useful here as she was acting cute through this process. And of course, the worst-kept secret is out as Kai and Aki have declared their love for each other. Now the stage is set for the final episode where Kai and the Kimijima-controlled Misaki fight, while the armed forces and JAXA security goes off to stop the launch from happening.

Well i have to say one thing: i was about as surprised by his outright confession at this point as Aki herself. Where did that come from all of a sudden. LOL

The show doesn't connect emotionally with me very much, just casually watching so i know how it ends. As a result i have missed the reason why the bad guy in the intertubez wants to kill everybody (at least i think that's his plan). Guess i need to go back a few episodes, so i know what's going on.

The difference with this show and most of the shows I watch is that for example, I like Frau's reactions, I like Aki's enthousiasm, but didn't connect with the characters.

Finally, some serious action!
It was pretty cool watching the mecha fights.
Who knew their plan would work using a giant robot.
That Kimijima Kou was a real pest.
Seems like they made a lot of desperate moves.
They were lucky some of those actually worked.
Nice final episode with some drama.

- First move, holographic clones to fool the missiles. Whoops, one of them saw through it.
- Kai is an arm down, but with Slow-Mo, that's all he needs. The good guys win...
- Uh, oh! It's Kimijima shedding skin, and now the external power source is busted.
- The trump card has arrived: a program to erase Kimijima from the net. But first, Kai needs to reboot.
- And while he reboots, Kimijima is on the attack. Buit some sister-to-sister talk puts him to a halt.
- Slow-Mo is activated once more, and it's the knockout blow. The program is ready to go.
- See ya, Kimijima! Good always triumphs!
- And the launch is aborted now that Kimijima no longer controls the launch site.
- Welcome back, Misa. None of this was your fault.
- So long, Kill Ballad. It has been fun.
- Kai, Aki, and Misa grow up to be astronauts, and Gunvarrel is a champion of justice.

That's a great way to end this series. It's nice to see that the sisters reconnect the way they did once again after Kimijima took control of their lives. Certainly, the first half of the series was slow and hard to watch, but all of that led up to this great ending as it could not have ended any better. There were some things still unexplained and stuff, but given the 22 episode limit imposed by Noitamina some things had to go. While it doesn't compare to its predecessor Steins;Gate, it is still a nice show to watch in the end, certainly much better than Chaos;Head.

As it was when it began, it ended up definitely better than Chaos;Head but still nothing compared to Steins;Gate. Not that it's really fair to think anything would be, but this was my one hope. I guess I better stop expecting such things. Normally I'd say it was my own fault for associating them more than they deserve to be (and to be fair, that was still a big part of my problem with it), but when one of the major characters is straight from Steins;Gate, it's hard to force a total mental disconnect between them.

By the way, was there anything else like that? I thought I read that there would be more returning characters than just Nae (maybe even from Chaos;Head as well). I guess the IRUO replacement followed Daru's naming conventions, but was that it?

Anyway, I guess that's the end of the Science Adventure series for now. No matter how bad Chaos;Head was or how relatively disappointing Robotics;Notes ended up being, it will always be a very special universe for Steins;Gate alone.

Well, this show gave us a good final episode. Both sisters are back together. That gave us a nice scene. I probably won't remember much about this show, I will remember Frau that for sure, I will remember how adorable Airi was. I will forget about the "We may die let's kiss right now" kind of kiss. (they didn't even kiss at the end!). This was a good enough show to watch until the end, but not more than that.
