- Shino is about to die, but is still alive thanks to someone making some deal.
- Shino is having a good time taking a dip with his talking raven friend who brought home some black algae
- Hamaji sure loves to cook with some weird ingredients.
- Kenta skips out on school, then sees some girl in the forest that he says is Shino. How is that thing Shino?
- Guess who comes knocking, the black algae, supersized.
- Some guys in fox masks come knocking. And the raven lives inside Shino as a weapon.
- Kenta runs away, and it's that girl again, attacking with webs.
- Sosuke as a dog saves them, then Shino uses the raven as a sword to kill that thing.
- Hamaji is missing, the Church has declared war, and Shino and Sosuke are off on a journey.
Interesting setup for this show as it is about a classic Japanese story, but these characters are Christians. The characters look pretty nice as well. I'll give it another episode or two to see what direction this show ends up going.

Good enough I guess. Definitely has potential for some good stuff later on. I'm not really familiar with this story, although I know this is far from its first telling. So at least I don't really have any preconceived notions about how it should go or anything like that. Hopefully I find it worth my time. Feels like it will probably have a less-than-satisfactory ending with only 13 episodes, though.
01-11-2013, 03:40 PM
Lots of guys, one girl. It's Shoujo!
Which means I'll be watching this one.
The characters looks nice too.
Story itself looks promising as well.
It's nice they're not "only" human.
Maybe, just maybe this will be an action filled shoujo anime.
Let's hope so.
01-15-2013, 01:19 PM
Hamaji really is a pain.
At least he looks fun and interesting.
His appetite reminds me of Luffy from One Piece.
It's nice they threw in some funny parts.
Satomi looks interesting as well, but he keeps conflicting with Shino.
Sousuke's dog attracting thing was pretty LOL
01-17-2013, 02:15 PM
- For someone who was kidnapped, Hamaji is getting the celebrity treatment from Kaname.
- Shino is wondering off like a kid, and gets flattened by Kobungo.
- Shino sure eats a lot, much like Son Goku.
- Careful. Rio's dog is not the same kind of pet Sosuke's dog is.
- And Hamaji meets up with Shino and Sosuke again at the house.
- Seiran senses a demon in Shino. Looks like he's about to cause problems.
- Kenpachi is in his jail cell, and Seiran is beating him to a pulp with his bugs.
Pretty good episode I would say given what this show is. It definitely feels like a more serious and action-oriented version of Saiyuki with Shino being so much like Goku. At least I will tune in for an episode or two more before I make any decisions. At least we get to see more Hamaji and in a different outfit with some pretty boys. Sosuke's dog is pretty cute as well.
01-17-2013, 02:48 PM
Oh, this doesn't have a 1080p option either. And it's not even the same publisher as Love Live! or anything. Weird.
So yeah, more of this story. With lots of bishounen. I feel like I'm being a little more patient with certain aspects of this show than maybe I should, but whatever. Staying positive works out pretty well when there's not all that much to get particular excited about this season.
01-21-2013, 02:36 PM
Nothing much was going on this time.
Mostly Shino relaxing and having fun.
The history lesson part was interesting.
He does act like a brat most of the time too..
Wish they made him a bit more grown up, but with similar personality.
Genpachi finally escaped. I'm glad because they tortured him more than enough.
Interesting how they always put the short action scenes at the beginning or the end.
Maybe now things will finally get moving.
01-24-2013, 02:06 PM
- So Rio is the one who saved Shino and "family" during that massacre.
- Just like before, Kobungo gets thrown into Shino again by the monks.
- Rio has two of the eight gems for Sosuke and Shino. They are a lot more than just gems.
- Gotta find all eight of them. Now, how is it possible to do that?
- Genpachi is in a lot of pain emotionally. He has lived such a tragic life. Unfortunately, Seiran just thinks of him as a demon.
- Those bugs have pushed Genpachi to his limit. He is now a demon.
- Shino knows the truth, and the three are in the river after the monks shoot arrows at them.
Alright, this episode is at least an improvement over the first two now that the gems are in place, and the story about Genpachi is just really sad. Well, I will give it one more episode before my five episode rule kicks in.
01-24-2013, 02:32 PM
All I can think about is how disgusting cow liver ice cream sounds.
01-28-2013, 09:33 AM
So those three got rescued by the fuzzy black one eyed ball.
Those monks are really bad news..
Genpachi seems to be doing just fine now.
I'm glad he's finally free. His story was very interesting.
Those monks just don't quit, but looks like they got what they deserved.

Time for some hardcore shota yaoi. Or at least some comic relief parodying such themes. This show definitely knows its audience anyway, and I definitely know I'm not it. Still, I'll probably be able to get a little chuckle out of it since I've accepted this. I think I prefer some of the minor comic relief a bit more than the bulk of the serious business. Some of the action is still pretty nice, though, and the premise is intriguing enough given my unfamiliarity with its source material.
02-04-2013, 01:47 PM
Shino really is a special kid in every way.
His stubbornness can sometimes even be funny.
At least this time we got some new info about other guys too.
Shino meets sweet Ayane and dangerous Chikage.
So Hamaji got herself a friend to play with.
The lantern festival was really nice.
Looks like Shino found an unexpected friend in Hibiki/Chikage.
02-07-2013, 02:35 PM
I'd say that was one of the better episodes. I was pretty happy with it. Not sure what to think of the series overall, but it seems to be headed in a slightly better direction than I expected.
02-11-2013, 11:14 AM
That stubborn Shino somehow always finds trouble.
The giant ape in the woods was kinda surreal.
It was pretty helpful and peaceful though.
Shino clinging to Sousuke was pretty LOL
Investigation of the village was interesting.
02-13-2013, 11:06 AM
- The three are saved by that black algae eyeball thingy named Megu for Murky Eyeball, Gross and Ugly.
- So Genpachi wanted to die when Nui died. But try as he might, he is immortal.
- Seiran and those bugs attack again.
- Those same bugs scratched Hamaji's face. Kaname is really losing it.
- And it's a battle instigated by the monks. Of course, without the blessings of the abbot.
- Kaname teaches Seiran a lesson to never ruin a pretty girl's face.
That was a pretty decent way to wrap up this arc as Kaname really showed Seiran and those rebel monks who the boss is. Now that I have reached my quota, I have a decision to make whether to continue this show or not. So far, I haven't been that impressed, but I like it enough to consider watching more of it.
02-15-2013, 12:36 AM
Shino just keeps becoming more and more like a real little kid. And did he really think that guy was a girl after hearing his voice? What the hell?
02-18-2013, 12:50 PM
Asakeno certainly jumped to conclusions.
Attacking Shino and Sousuke like that.
Looks like the monkey deity has been purifying the contamination.
Poor moneky was just feeling lonely...
No wonder it snapped when it lost the only thing is got left.
02-21-2013, 02:30 PM
And everyone continues to assume that such a voice could not possibly indicate this person being male.
Poor Monkey Spirit. That was some brutal shit, though. Pretty intense at a few moments.
02-25-2013, 11:50 AM
Traveling to the capital.
Events on the train were pretty LOL
The monk and ice spirit fight was nice.
It was a nice surprise Shino actually knows Yukihime.
Looks like she's a really nice person/spirit.
And so they've made a new friend on the train, Inuyama.
02-28-2013, 02:50 PM
Hitomi is a Snow Princess. Good to know.
But yeah, that was a pretty amusing train ride. So much awkward tension, but of course it turns out they're basically on the same page after all.
I like when the beginning of an episode ties in to the end like that, but I thought the amount of content repeated at the end was a little more than necessary.
03-05-2013, 03:29 PM
So Hamaji is moving to a dormitory.
Shino sure came to visit pretty fast. It was kinda LOL
His drawing ability was funny too.
Looks like Hamaji's school is not an ordinary school after all.
That guardian was no joke. Good episode.
03-07-2013, 02:22 PM
I was seriously expecting to see Shino cross-dressing to get into the girl's dorm. I'm... a little disappointed.
And the school is guarded by a dangerous cute stuffed animal ghost thing. Which also tend to make Hitomi play. I love her music, but it was used pretty strangely in this episode.
03-12-2013, 01:11 PM
Asakeno seeing things from the past.
The golden eyed girl was interesting.
Flashbacks were pretty good this time.
Looks like Asakeno's delusion is quite real after all.
The mystery man stirred up some trouble.
03-14-2013, 06:47 PM
So we meet another Sosuke and start to learn about the past of Shino, or another Shino, that he doesn't seem to know about. Should be interesting.
03-18-2013, 02:47 PM
Keno really does look like a girl.
So all of them have the same mark on their bodies.
Wish they would get to the point with the story already.
Kohaku (the golden eyes girl) is truly an enigma. Wonder what she's hiding.
Shino getting shot was really really bad.
Things went out of control so fast.
Shino is totally childish sometimes ^^"
He grew up suddenly, wow! That was cool.
Him losing his self control is not good at all.
03-21-2013, 06:38 PM
Holy shit, the guy who never even kinda sounded like he wasn't totally a man is male? NO WAY!
Shino's unintentional transformation to I guess more of a "true" form was pretty cool. Reminds me a bit of Yusuke.
But man, Kohaku is just getting it worse and worse. All I can hope for at this point is that she doesn't have too horrible a death.
03-25-2013, 04:27 PM
Kohaku was going through some serious demon problems.
Her past was sad, but every piece of new info is a good thing.
It's good that the others finally noticed Kohaku could be a problem.
Grown up Shino was a really pretty sight! ^///^
Seems like his personality changed a bit as well, like he's more cheerful somehow.
03-28-2013, 03:05 PM
Oh. That wasn't the final episode. Well it made for a pretty good one anyway, and it doesn't look like the actual final episode will actually do so all that well.
Oh well, I was happy enough with this episode. Kohaku's life continued to get more and more terrible until its inevitable end, but at least at the very end she got some well-deserved salvation and a merciful death at the hands of those who cared for her. It was still tough to have to watch her go through all this, but that just means it was well-written. Well, for this show anyway.
04-02-2013, 03:00 PM
I got my hopes up when grown up Shino arrived, but he's just a kid again :(
Still don't get why that happened anyway.
It would have been so much better if he stayed in his new form.
Sousuke's shadow is an interesting guy with some bad intentions.
Looks like Shino has a thing for Sousuke, the real one, I mean.
Those church people were really annoying this time.
This final episode didn't seem very final at all.
04-04-2013, 07:41 PM
Alright, now it makes sense why the previous episode seemed so much like a final episode: the actual final episode is all about setting up for the second season.
In the end, I ended up liking this show enough that I'll watch the second season, especially since this one ended in a way that forces you to watch the next one if you care about the story at all. Good thing it's only taking a single cour off.
07-09-2013, 03:11 PM
2nd season looks promising. At least the intro did.
Hope more will be going on this season.
Oh, we got a new character. Looks interesting.
Will give this season a chance. Hope it won't disappoint.
They definitely need to add more plot and action...
07-15-2013, 02:26 PM
The plot seems to be showing signs of improvement.
Daikaku's story unfolded quite nicely.
Flashbacks to the past revealed the whole story.
Just like with everyone else, he had his death wish granted.
Unlike the others, the monster part was a nice addition.
I kinda felt sorry for the cat... but I guess you can't have it all.
07-15-2013, 05:34 PM
Kaede is totally Suppi's true form with the voice and personality of Kero's true form.
And yeah, some decent plot to be had as well. The Satomi princess deal should be interesting. Hopefully this season has a real conclusion, rather than just setting up for another one, since I don't imagine there will be one this time.
07-22-2013, 04:00 PM
That was all very sweet. Shino can be pretty annoying, but it's moments like this that remind you how much of a good guy he is.
And the other Sosuke is back.
07-29-2013, 01:23 PM
Shino playing teacher ^^"
Those two old nuns are still creepy as ever.
This time he gets to experience how hard some kids have it.
Think this experience made him a bit less childish.
It was really nice watching them make a difference and help out.
This episode was very much down to Earth and really nice.
07-29-2013, 01:24 PM
New story was interesting.
Seems like the new season is more like a series of stories.
Wish they would focus some more on the main story..
It was kinda sad watching this story about Yanahime.
The best part was definitely about Sasuke's double.
It would be nice if they'd show him more + develop the story around him.
07-29-2013, 04:44 PM
Sosuke sure is lucky Yana decided to tell her life story to a random dog that showed up.
And the two Sosukes finally meet! This should provide some interesting developments.
08-05-2013, 07:44 PM
Very nice resolution to that little story, and it leaves Ao a much more enjoyable character to see for the future. I'm interested in seeing how his story will play out now, and what else the rest of the series has in store. It's turning out quite well.
08-19-2013, 03:10 PM
Megane guy with frosty ghost girl looking for his sister.
This just sounds like a bad wanted ad ROFL
Everything looked simple enough until that spirit meddled in.
Well, at least the spirit managed to bring them together in a weird way.
This time the story was kinda simple... nice episode.
08-19-2013, 06:29 PM
Hitomi-hime returns! And that guy she's with.
THAT WAS A DEMON?! NO WAY! NEXT YOU'RE GOING TO TELL ME THAT ASAKENO IS A GUY!
And everything worked out without anyone suffering for it. Wait...
Good thing it doesn't matter that Shino doesn't actually do anything to collect the gems, since everyone with one ends up just coming to him anyway.
08-26-2013, 02:53 PM
That reminded me SO much of Mushi-Shi. The "living god" plot a few episodes ago did as well, but not nearly as much as this one.
Good stuff, even if not very critical in the grand scheme.
09-09-2013, 01:06 PM
Will they collect all the dragons balls and make their wish?
Ups, wrong anime ROFL ^^"
Wonder how many beads they need to have to make something happen?
And what will that something be?
*sigh* this feels like it's going nowhere....
Well, at least the main plot isn't, or it feels like it isn't.
Shinobu's story was interesting to see through to the end.
09-09-2013, 03:03 PM
Damn, this show is getting quite good. I can't wait to see how it all wraps up. I'm actually a little surprised by how much the pacing seems to have smoothed out for a satisfying conclusion in these past few episodes, so hopefully that can prove successful and really deliver when it comes to the end of it. Obviously there's always the chance that it could disappoint significantly, but considering the show didn't seem all that great to begin with, I got more than I hoped for anyway.
09-16-2013, 02:55 PM
Well, looks like Ao is our eighth dog instead of Sosuke. You put in a good effort So, but you'll have to be leaving now.
Okay, so obviously the final mission is to take back all of Sosuke's Eight Dog qualifications (mostly his gem and birthmark, although at this rate he's starting to lose more essential qualifications of being a functioning person as well) from Ao, and deal with him once and for all in general. I'd say they set it up well enough. Hopefully the conclusion manages to deliver.
09-17-2013, 02:06 PM
Sousuke is starting to feel the effects of his double Ao.
Looks like things are moving forward again, but slowly.
Somehow it seems strange things are happening.
Maybe we'll get to see some action soon.
09-23-2013, 02:55 PM
Kicking into high gear now. I'm really glad this series got the full 26 episodes. With only one left, it's very clear that it used them to their fullest to tell its story. I look forward to seeing how it will all wrap up in the finale.
09-24-2013, 12:05 PM
Sousuke sure is in a bad shape.
It sucks that he's slowly losing to Ao.
The spirits overrun the city too.
Strange things have been happening..
Shino has become very persistent since Sousuke got worse.
Fight with Ao was nice and pretty intense.
It was cool seeing them use their powers.
Surprise, surprise the beads got used for evil.
Can't wait to see the final episode!
