Yaay I get the first post in this thread. Anyways I tried to order Steel Angel Kurumi 2 Vol 1 and You're Under Arrest Movie. It went through Paypal just smoothly as normal but I think the problem is the screen after you hit continue. For some reason I don't get the thank you for the order screen just a blank screen. for purposes I'm running Windows XP IE 6 for that possibility of being the problem

They will have the slipcover. I asked Pioneer about the slip cover for X and they told me ALL X volumes will continue to have the slip cover.

Not sure. We just had one yesterday so it will be at least a week or two. My biggest challenge right now is our every day prices are as low as most sites sale prices. /images/graemlins/happy.gif

I will look at what I have in inventory next week when I get back from VSDA and see what I want to clear out.

As far as I know yet. My Pioneer rep swore up and down that they always will have the slipcase. I have asked Veronica twice.

Are you asking if your store credit and frequent buyer points are separate? Yes, they are. So, if you use your store credit it doen't effect the total of your frequent buyer points.

What is the story with the Maison Ikkoku box set? I ordered it on 06/29/03 and it is still showing as "On Order. Back in stock Soon!" Are you ever going to get it in stock and ship it?

Also, could you please explain your order numbers? It seems that preorders have one order number before they ship and another after they ship.

Thanks for the clarification. I think this is what causes the problem since there is a time lapse between the payment and it clearing. As a result, our site does not get notified of the payment instantly. I will do some checking with PayPal to find a solution.

True. However, the plan was to use the week to my advantage. I have pre-orders that will ship during that time so it doesn't really matter. Especially, since I'll be broke next month anyway. The original plan was to get that date closer to a week when I had lots of pre-orders shipping, and would have money to spend on items I didn't pre-order that are being released around the 26th. It doesn't matter it's not like I'll stop ordering from them.

Doesn't look like that's happened. For what it's worth, I ordered on 2nd July and am still waiting. It's really frustrating because I'm really looking forward to it. Alas, I'll just have to keep waiting since other stores seem to be having the same problem with stock.

Cool, thanks for chasing it. It's really frustrating but seems to be really widespread with Viz products (especially Maison Ikkoku). Granted, I don't know a whole lot about distribution but I'd have thought Ventura would've gotten their act together by now.

Just popped over to DigitalEyes to check what (if anything) might be one sale today and noticed that the appearance of the website seems to be undergoing changes again.

Not a bad thing in and of itself, but when I popped over to my cart, I noticed that all my Wish List items were gone. Any hope of recovering those items?

Added a few items to the wish list that I could remember earlier today, but when I returned later, the wish list was again empty. Guess the website is in the midst of the change and all changes haven't been uploaded yet.

Finally, clicking Anime from the DigitalEyes frontpage takes you to AnimeOneStop (of course). But there is no return link within AOS back to DE. Might be nice to let folks who want to order a few non-Anime items have an easy way back to the DE website to add those items to their order also.

As it stands now, I tend to stay at DE as I can then search for all my DVD needs, Anime and non-Anime. What reason would there be for me to jump over to AOS?

I noticed this too, but in some ways AOS is better for anime fans than the normal DE site. All the anime titles were removed from the DE "top" lists (pre-orders and best selling), and are exclusively on the AOS lists. I like seeing these because I can see if there are any titles I may have overlooked or missed, or things I was on the fence about picking up but just needed that little nudge to buy.

Of course you can still search from the DE site for anime titles, which I usually do when I'm looking for something specific, but when I'm looking for ideas to buy I'll pop over to AOS.

Is it possible to have the search engine you use for title searches to be a little less strict about things? For example, you have Rahxephon volume 5 listed as Rahxephon-Vol. 5 Synaethesia (specifically, with no space between the n of Rahxephon and the dash). Because of this, the title doesn't show up on a search for Rahxephon. (It doesn't even show up on a search for Rahxephon-Vol, if you leave out the period.) This is true of other titles as well--this was just the most recent one I noticed in looking through the upcoming titles.

My suggestion would be that the search engine allow partial matches in this instance and others like it. Either that, or you should set a standard for entering DVD titles into your system, since my specific example here is troublesome only because it's named differently than the other volumes.

Their search engine isn't very smart so try using an asterisk(*) as a wildcard. Rahxephon* will list all the vols.

Good tip. Thanks. I didn't even think to try wildcards. Is that indicated anywhere on the site?

I do still think that behavior should probably be the default, rather than require an extra asterisk.

So I just submitted a qoute to you guys for some discs I have to get rid of (Have to make rent, so my anime takes a hit). But in looking around, it occurs to me - is the qoute ONLY store credit, or is there some way to get some cold hard cash that I'm just not seeing?

Mark, I can't remember if this was resolved or not, but I finally recived a order I've been waiting for a month (vrs 10 days usual) and found that it had the country hand written in next to the NZ (new zealand) that was on the printed lable, and clear signs that it had been attemped to be delivered within the US. This country code is clearly an issue. As it is I'm still waiting for the order sent two weeks before the one I've recived today, I guess I know why its taking so long at least. /images/graemlins/sad.gif

Second, the title I recived today 'Sakura Diaries collectors edition', I un-wrapped it, opened up the case...and guess what? There were no disks /images/graemlins/sad.gif I must be so unlucky. Am I going to have a hassle to get a replacement? While I realise this wasn't DE's fault, when on top of delay already it hasn't put me in a good mood.
I have email CS about this and await their reply, but I would apprecate you trying to speed things up for me, I really don't wish to be waiting another month for a replacement.

They're back. The wish list items that is. But then again, so is my last order as it has reappeared in my shopping cart.

In fact, I have had this happen a few times recently. Just have to be careful not to order the same disc twice. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

And they are gone again and they are back again. Finally figured out why (I think) my Wish List keeps disappearing and reappearing. When I check from work, no wish list. When I check from home, wish list. The wish list appears to be stored as a cookie on one of your machines. I see the same wish list when I use my home computer, but no other. Would be nice at some point if the wish list would be transportable from computer to computer so that I could add items from work and then review them from home.

My last order reappearing in my shopping cart is probably another cookie issue.</font>

I was looking for some stuff the other day, and noticed that AnimeOneStop doesn't seem to list K.O. Beast #1 (it does list #2), but DigitalEyes lists both. Seemed kinda unusual /images/graemlins/happy.gif. I wanted some non-anime stuff too, so I ended up ordering from DE...

Just curious what people's experience with selling used DVDs to Digital Eyes has been like. I have some stuff I'm looking to part with. I've checked out their Quote Machine, but I haven't been able to find too much info on the site about policies, instruction and other info. Do I need to actually go through the entire process to see this info?

I just sent in a large batch of DVDs. I really enjoy this service since it actually is a lot more convenient than using Half.com. What I would suggest is that you get a QuoteMachine ID, go to their link and begin searching for the discs you intend to sell. You can put those into a cart and after you have finished, press "proceed to checkout". I think this brings up your log in screen. If you are satisfied with your quote, you'll be prompted to submit. The confirmation has the "send to" address and instructions. Note: you can really only go through the Post Office since the address is a PO Box.

But that allows one to use Media Mail for shipping the DVDs, especially handy when sending back big boxes of DVDs (as I have done). Otherwise, ditto what Earendil said. I prefer it for the convenience of one stop selling, one stop sending.

Just to get this right: if I order something in a double points week I'll get the points when the stuff ships, right?

I think you only get double points if it ships during this week. Not on pre-orders made during the week. However, I could be wrong.

No, you're right. It is double points week and double points are only valid for items that ship within this week.

I just got my Points update mail from DE.

I only hope they get X #6 with slipcover in stock - this week /images/graemlins/devil.gif - because I trusted Mark and cancelled at another place and ordered at DE!

Correct, double points for any item that ships between 8/4 and 8/10. This was stated at the top of my Frequent Buyer Update I just received.

I also have pre-order stuff, but as it all streets later than this, I'm not going to pre-order just yet. Might want to find some in stock stuff for those double points though.

Mark, I have a question, or maybe, to put it more appropriately, an inquiry, since I don't know what to ask really. I sent a few discs in right at the beginning of July and haven't heard anything about them arriving or getting credit for them, and I'm beginning to get worried because I've done this several times and it has never taken this long to process. I e-mailed a CSR about it, and was e-mailed back and I in turn e-mailed back, but since the first e-mail I haven't heard anything else.

One thing that I think *might* be happening is that I accidentally forgot to include one disc. Is it possible that the lack of one disc from the quote would hold up the processing?

And also, another part of the problem is that I can't seem to find the quote # anywhere, though I do have my QuoteMachine Id. Any help would be appreciated.

Their search engine isn't very smart so try using an asterisk(*) as a wildcard. Rahxephon* will list all the vols.

Is anyone having problems with order status information at DE?

I've just been informed that an order I placed some time ago, which is *still* at this moment listed as 'pending' (two items are supposedly on backorder), has already shipped, despite me sending DE an email asking for it to be cancelled (which wasn't replied to for 3 days)!

And I'd just gone and re-ordered those items elsewhere! (silly me) Aaaargh!!

This just adds insult to injury...

It's been over *3 months* since I received anything from DE, despite repeated emails exchanges with CS reps (who consistently failed to answer all my questions) - and even after a stern email listing the problems I've had, I've still recieved NO adequate answers! One of my problem orders went MIA several months ago, and despite paying extra to have it reshipped EXPRESS, it's gone missing AGAIN!

This is the reply I got to my latest email:

It is unfortunate that matters have progressed to this stage - Digital

The problem is DEFINITELY not the country code. It was the company we were using for Air Mail consolidation. They were only used in June and the delay was caused by them sitting on the packages for weeks. That is why we switched carriers. Everything should be fine from here on out.

I'd like to add this to your list - I can't move an item from the cart to the wish list, only from wish list to cart.

While I can understand your motion (sales) I always serach for an item and then click on the price to add it to my cart. This way I fill the cart with an amount of my preorders and then I move some items to the wish list (to fill the next cart).

If you click on Info Center and login it should store a cookie on your PC that identifies you. Try that and we are tinkering while you try it.

How long do reorders usually take? Is it a week or a month or more? I pre-ordered a non-anime cartoon (that makes this OT; sorry), but on the release date it was not in stock. I've never had this happen before, so I'm not certain how long I should be holding out before I start examining other options.

It depends.

I have had stuff on "reorder" both anime and non-anime be filled within a few days and within a few weeks. It all depends on how quickly the distributor can get stock from the DVD production company and then send it to DE for order fulfillment. If the distributor has it in stock, it might be only a day or two. If not, it might be a bit longer.

A couple of recent examples from my own order history:

Read or Die
Ordered 4 August
Shipped 13 August

20,000 Leagues under the Sea
Ordered 27 August
Shipped 6 August

In your specific case, DE might be receiving their pre-orders in 2 shipments. As your order wasn't processed on the first shipment, it will be fulfilled on the second shipment.

Personally, I wait a few weeks / month before wondering if I should jump out and order it elsewhere. Rare is the item I need now, so I generally wait for DE to restock and ship out to me.

Yup, I'm waiting for Sugar #3 too and Master Keaton #2, and of course X #6 too. But worst of all is that fact that I've just been told by CS that FLCL #3 has been discontinued three weeks after its release! And it's not just Digital Eyes having the problem. I originally had all four of those DVDs preordered months in advance at Deep Discount DVD and they still haven't got any copies in stock.

Yes, but DDD use the same fulfillment (Infinity Resources) as Digital Eyes. I believe DVDPlanet uses IR now, too.

I knew that Pioneer changed their distribution method in late June/early July, and that caused stock problems, but what I meant when I said "other retailers" were back to normal was places like Amazon, etc, that don't use the same place.

If you're looking at the FLCL #3 with box version, some retailers have it as "discontinued" because it was a LE which has sold out.

Nope just the regular edition. I've never had much interest in boxes even less so now that I'm putting all my DVDs into thinpaks.

Luckily I ordered a copy from DVD Universe last Friday and they shipped it yesterday. So I plan on cancelling the rest of my Digital Eyes orders today and getting my DVDs from a company who can actually get new releases in when they're released.

I've looked at your latest sale, and some of your deals... well, aren't, to be blunt. Almost all don't even beat your own preorder prices, which in my opinion are also rather high. With that having been said, the dropdead price I have for buying a DVD is 43.2% off of MSRP, and I was getting it... ...up until 4 months ago when some retailers started tightening up their deals. Has there been some sort of major change or wholesale pricing increase which has caused vendors to tighten back so extremely? I know Pioneer has ridiculously insane wholesale prices, and I've started to discover that as of recent my 43.2%-off-MSRP dropdead price is, much to my shock, actually lower than some vendor's wholesale prices. What's going on?

I checked your orders and the hold up was because you selected the Hold Until Complete box on your order. This prevents your order from shipping if even one item is not in stock.

I have contacted Pioneer and everything is now working smoothly. We already have the 8/26 releases in stock and should be receiving everything on time so we can ship for receipt on release date.

We use a strict cost plus method in pricing. There is no anime studio that I can afford to sell at 43.2% off retail. After our reward program, free shipping, labor, etc. that would put us at a loss on every order. With volume we could lose a ton of cash. /images/graemlins/happy.gif
The days of online retailing pushing for volume no matter the loss have ended.

We had some POs that were not properly processed through EDI. This caused our shipments to not occur since the orders were not received at Pioneer. All is now fixed and the missing titles are supposed to be in here this week. Everything is totally back to normal with the Pioneer titles.

Did I miss an announcement?

I just tried to call the customer service department at the number listed on the website (1-888-993-6344) and got a recording that the service department was now closed and to call back during normal business ours. I called at 2:42 PM Pacific Daylight Time, which would be 4:42 PM Central Daylight Time / 5:42 PM Central Standard Time.

Your website states: We answer our phone from 8 AM until 7 PM Central Standard Time Monday through Friday. Saturday 9AM to 5PM. We are closed on Sunday.

Did everyone go home early today (Wednesday?) Or did I miss some announcement indicating shorter hours than listed on the website?

I just tried to call the customer service department at the number listed on the website (1-888-993-6344) and got a recording that the service department was now closed and to call back during normal business ours. I called at 2:42 PM Pacific Daylight Time, which would be 4:42 PM Central Daylight Time / 5:42 PM Central Standard Time.

Your website states: We answer our phone from 8 AM until 7 PM Central Standard Time Monday through Friday. Saturday 9AM to 5PM. We are closed on Sunday.

Did everyone go home early today (Wednesday?) Or did I miss some announcement indicating shorter hours than listed on the website?

Being a New International Customer, I have to fax a photocopy of my credit card's front and back side and billing statement to DE... However, I haven't been lucky with any of the numbers I found on their webpage. I tried 800-649-9351 (non-existent number), 615-354-0012 and 615-354-6408 (fax machine says: communication error) and 888-993-6344 (answering machine), plus international code. I can reach a number in the USA, so I think I got the international code thing right. I also tried all the numbers several times. Can anyone please tell me which number to use? ASAP would be nice, so I can reap the benefits of their current anime sale. /images/graemlins/happy.gif

Mark posted a while back, around the switch in fulfilment, that it's no longer necessary to have your card verified in this way. If I were you, I'd just place the orders now. If they do still need it, they can always ask you.

I heard that ADV released a fixed version of the disk. I not sure when though. Are the disks in stock the fixed version? I don't really want to go through the hassle of sending it back for a replacment.

Also I see two versions of "The silent Service". I only found a few differences in the extras from both. Are there any major changes in the Audio/Video?

The Voices of a Distant Star just came in from ADV so they should be the fixed copies. Silent Service is the same DVD as before. It has just been repriced.

OK, I sent an e-mail to CS late last week and haven't had a reply yet, so I thought I'd post here and see what sort of response I get.

Basically, I have three orders, one shipped (1 disc) on 21st July, the other two (one of 1 disc, the other 2 discs) on 22nd July. None have arrived yet, and it's way beyond the usual timeframe in which I receive discs from DE (around 12 working days, usually). It's also been over 20 working days now. I'm really concerned that they're not going to turn up (note that these are international shipments).

Usually, I wouldn't be so concerned. But, two other orders, one shipped on 29th July, and the other 4th August, turned up together on 16th August. I'm not really sure what to do now. I have two other orders (1 disc and 4 discs) currently in transit, and another waiting to ship (eventually, ships in 24 hours has turned into several days, lol /images/graemlins/tongue.gif). But it's worrying to think that 4 discs might have fallen into the void.

Anyone else still waiting for discs shipped a while ago, or had a similar experience?

I hope to have all volumes of FLCL in stock very soon. Points are not on a particular schedule. I usually do them on a slow release week.

Spookily, I just received an e-mail from CS telling me to give it until 1st September, which isn't a problem. If I do have problems later, though, I will e-mail you. /images/graemlins/happy.gif

I wouldn't normally post such a question here, I just thought it'd be interesting to see if others had any similar problems, since I remember at one point (as I think came up in the last thread) there was a bit of a delay all-round in international shipping, and don't want to be bugging you guys if it's just a general delay in the post.

I called about X6 today and the CSR had no idea when they are going to get them in, something about a problem at the distributer. I've had X6 on order since 6/24 if it's any conciliation, I don't think anyone who has ordered X6 through DE has gotten it yet.

I just recieved an email stating that my order for FLCL Vol 3 (placed 7/6/03) was cancelled due to it being dicontinued by the manufacturer. Is this true or is it just an error in your system? FLCL Vol 3 is still available to be ordered on the site so I believe it may just be an error.

I emailed Mark and got a prompt reply saying that a replacement was scheduled to ship. Almost immediately, the shipping confirmation email came in. Thanks for taking care of this so quickly. This reminds me why I order primarily from Digital Eyes.

It is a great contrast to the hassle I got from another company who scrambled my shipping address and then made me wait a month for the Post Office to return the misdirected package before they would ship a replacement. This was after the Post Office had sent notice that it was undeliverable and would be returned to sender. As one might expect, I no longer order from that company.
