Although this release has been out for quite a while now, i only recently received it (due to mass impulse buy thanks to DDD coupons). I couldn't find any other mention of a glitch with this disc, so this is mostly a question at this point...

The only english track for this disc is DD 5.1. It's used quite well in several sequences, and sounds really full and enveloping in the first episode, exactly as it should. On episodes 2-4 however, the sounds seem to be more distant and although i think it's still 5.1 discrete channels it sounds less directional and, just really odd. I've not heard this phenomenon firsthand before, but i think it could be 'phase inversed'?
(i'm not too sure of exactly what that is, but i think this could be fixed if i reversed the connections on my speakers, plugging - to + and vice versa? Not that i'd want to go that far...

Is any part of this post ringing true with anyone?

Edit: Forgot to include my equipment. Onkyo DV-S525 player, TX-DS575 receiver. Works and sounds fine with just about every other disc i have (although i've some video & menu issues with the DVD player, but that's a question for the hardware forum).

You aren't the only one. There was a thread start a while ago but not much was accomplished. I don't think we even got any word from ADV.

I've been thinking of picking this series up.

How is/are the japanese sound track/s? Simply as will probobly never use the english one.

Switch your receiver over into pro-logic mode. If the center and rears are now switched then it's phase inverted.

Oookay. Now that the Najica problem's been fixed, how about a disc replacement of Rune Soldier 1? Has anybody come across any fixed copies?

I noticed this problem as well after watching the first episode. I just picked vol. 1 up (already had 2 & 3 but hadn't watched them yet) got done watching & enjoying the first episode quite much. On to episode 2 and right off the bat I could tell something wasn't right.

Like Damaramu said its only with the 5.1 DD english track and lasts through episodes 2-4. To me it sounds distant and almost muffled like, as if someone is standing right in front of the speaker. It almost sounds like there's no treble or bass to it, like your listening to it on a old.. old.. cassette player. There's no life to the sound at all.

It could be 'phase inversed', but I have the Slayers set that has that as long as I listen to it in stero its sounds fine, thats not the case in Rune Solider. No matter what form I listen to it in, be it 5.1, prologic, 3 stereo, or stereo you can noticed the difference. I even tried switching over from my digital signal to my ananolog and it was still there. I tested on 8 different dvd players and it was still there.

So since I decided to send the disc back to the retailer and get a replacement. Finally got my replacement today and guess what... The distorted sound is still there.. /images/graemlins/depresse.gif So now I'm contemplating on whether to send the disc back again and hope for the best or try contacting ADV.

Considering there seem to be numerous complaints about ADV discs lately, I doubt contacting ADV will do any good, especially considering as far as I know they still haven't done jack about Eden Bowy vol.3, of which I'll most likely stop collecting now (I only have 1 & 6, and was about to pick up the rest, but knowing there's a problem with it now I doubt I will).

Ite seems that ADV isn't making any new friends lately, and losing a good number they already had. /images/graemlins/stunned0.gif
