Are you planning to re-review the disc once you've got a version with all five episodes on?
Admittedly, if I remember rightly episodes 4 and 5 aren't particularly strong, but it'll be interesting to see if it changes your opinion at all.

I'll wait and see when it comes in. Since i'm getting the LE edition and I need to see the episodes anyway, we'll be doing up the LE review, which is separate since it's something that will go OOP. Once I see the episodes, I'll end up making my mind up then. Even if I do, I doubt it'd be more than a new content paragraph inserted in and the in-summary change tweaked to reflect the LE item stuff.

I've liked what I've seen of the show on Cartoon Network. Looking forward to getting the Limited Edition!

I need to see more of this show before I can make a judgment. Has Bandai decided how they are going to handle the cheap clip shows yet?

Well, I'm liking what I'm seeing on CN so far so I think it's good.

I'm not happy about the credits change, leaving them alone is what makes Bandai, Bandai.
I'm going to buy the series, and I'm sure it will be good, but I'm just not excited about it.

I really want to collect this series. I'm just afraid that when it comes out I will be to broke and have too many series I'm collecting to start another series. /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif

Yeah, I think I'm gonna get this when it's cheap or when there's a set. It's a good series and I've seen it all (including the OVAs) but nothing to be too excited about. I'm saving my money for GitS: SAC, ROD TV, the rest of LE, KG and WHR.

I'm sort of looking forward to this one, as I like what I've seen on Adult Swim OK. I do hope it gets better.
I've been wondering whether or not to cancel my order for the LE, in case of disappointment, but the plushie, box and promise of Kanno Yoko on the soundtrack have got me stuck. If only Bandai had done a version with only the box and volume to make my decision easier.
I really like Hige's voice actor. Need to check, but it sounds like Joshua Seth to me.

Time to ressurect this post!
My Wolf's Rain box came in from RightStuf today, and I must say.. VERY disappointed in the box. The spine is good (one of the few times Bandai actually have something on the spine other than the logo) and the side with the image of the wolf I can tolerate.. but the elusive 3rd side.. THAT takes the cake. It's a big thing of BLANKNESS, with the logo in the middle. There's SO much amazing art for this series.. and this is what we get. Big thumbs down.
However, the INSIDE of the box is a much better story. The soundtrack is in a nice, standard CD case with a little booklet of all the lyrics and whatnot. What's great though, is the Kiba plushie. Its BIG. As in like, twice as big (probably more) than the .hack Grunty. Beyond the disc and soundtrack, it pretty much fills up the entire rest of the box.
All in all, I guess it about evens out. Terrible box, great plushie and soundtrack.

Does it fill up the box enough so that the soundtrack isn't bouncing around horribly?
*thinks of the absolutely piss-poor packaging decision made regarding .hack//Legend of the Twilight Bracelet, the box, and its soundtrack, and gets upset all over again*

The plushie is pretty big and wrapped in plastic so it does fill up the box well, so the soundtrack in mine wasn't bouncing around much at all.

NOT according to my box, which came today. It seems, despite Bandai announcing MANY times, VERY publically (I was there at one) that Wolf's Rain would be released on six discs, they somehow made the decision to release it on 7.
I am NOT happy about this at all. It just dropped Wolf's Rain off my preorder list - I'll hold out for a cheap Right Stuf bundle, because I feel no desire to preorder a show I've been lied to about.
(Note: I normally don't get worked up over things like this, but since it directly contradicts MANY public statements, it bothers me rather more than normal)

Thanks, I must have become brutally retarded without knowing it and completely forgot Bandai had to pay money for the license.
/images/graemlins/relief1.gif Of course the license costs money, that's how the business works. It's just that Bandai has habitually released 24-26 ep series on SIX discs, not seven.
However, in this case, I can understand 30 episodes being on seven. Hell, I was surprised to hear six before, but forgot this was 30, not 26, episodes when I just posted. Given that, perhaps this isnt so disturbing.
Nonetheless, if Christian is right, and Bandai gave no warning at all of a change, then I can see it still being a problem for many.
So, maybe this being seven doesnt bode too terribly for the future. I just want Bandai to keep up the six disc practice. It gained them ALOT of respect with me.

Swordfish_II

Yeah, but then if you were to get the artbox, you'd end up with an empty slot. I was hoping for:
Volume 1: 1-5
Volume 2: 6-10
Volume 3: 11-14, 15
Volume 4: 19-22, 16
Volume 5: 23-26, 17
Volume 6: 27-30, 18
Make each recap a "bonus" episode.
On an up note, the soundtrack for this series is awesome. Listening to the CD for the second time, now.

Well, I already skipped the box (I don't like the art on it), so I can still hope for that, anyway.
And yeah, the scenario you hoped for was pretty much what Bandai said they were going to do. Include the episodes as extras...
*sighs* I really didn't expect this kind of thing from Bandai. It's not even like I have a problem with 7 disc releases.
Hell, I bought a 24 episode show (X) over eight discs with Geneon pricing (at B&M stores, too, to get the slipcovers)...I just have a problem with misleading me into spreading misinformation, especially as I convinced a coworker who cares about this kind of stuff to preorder it. That bothers me.

WTF, its 7 discs!?! I didn't even bother checking because Bandai had made it so clear prior to release that it would be 6.
Now I'm pissed.
I think someone should add this to the AX thread of questions to ask Bandai.

Seven discs huh? Alright then, I wasn't sure what to do before, but know I have definitely taken WR off my "not sure" list, and put it into the "not buying" list. I'm sorry, but clip shows have NO right to be released on DVD unless they are extras.
Bandai made .hack//SIGN's clip show an extra. Sony made Roughnecks Starship Trooper's Chronicles' clip shows as extras.
Anyway, I'm fine with just watching it on CN.

And it still could be. 26 episodes over 7 discs with the clips as extras. You never know. Again, I'm hoping Bandai will answer this on Sunday, or at least someone will ask.

What the hell?? The only reason I ordered the series was that again and again I heard it was going to be six discs, didnt someone from Bandia say this?? The limited edition is already being shipped so I can't exactly cancel it now /images/graemlins/sad.gif.
BTW, I do collect some 7 disc series, but I was unsure if I really wanted Wolf's Rain. The assurance of a 6 disc series (and the LE extras lol) helped sell me ;p. I wouldn't be upset if Bandai was upfront about it.

Since Bandai has changed this series from 6 to 7 volumes, I have now decided to buy it.
Just finished the first 3 episodes and I think I cans afely say that I'm in for 6 more discs of this. The dub is amazing, animation is A-list (Nothing less from Bones) and I love the story so far.
Best dub line so far: "Screw this stupid journey. Paradise can kiss my ass" said by the ever-awesome Crispin Freeman.

I watched the series before and while I did like it, I didn't enjoy it enough to be on a must-own list (4 summary episodes in a row really ticked me off and the ending was a big disappoint). I dont buy anime series just because they are 6 discs - I mostly own Pioneer/Geneon series that are anything but 6 discs ;p. My whole point was the fact that being only 6 volumes I decided to go ahead and purchase it even though it was far from my favorite of the season and I am already collecting a number of long disc series.

6 discs would have been great, but this IS a 30 episode show. Just because some people don't like some episodes doesn't mean they shouldn't be included, and in their proper place.
But people can make their own choices, personally, I'd take four clip episodes from Wolf's Rain over 4 entire Gonzo series.

They could've made 2 versions to Vol3. A regular single disc release with eps 11-4, and a special 2-disc version with eps 11-14 and the 4 worthless crap shows.
I feel sorry for people if they release the disc with the crap shows on it for more than $5, because they are getting gyped.

Not that I give a crap about this style over substance series but for the sake of spreading sanity did ya all ever think disc 7 might be the series ending OVAs? The recaps could still be bonus episodes ya know. It's said Cartoon Network won't be running the clip episodes but instead the OVA's? It all would make sense to me if that's what the 7th disc. /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

If the recaps were bonus are still going to be bonuse episodes, they must be getting their own disc then.
They should either put one recap episode on volumes 2-6 or make Vol. 3 or Vol. 4 a 2-disc set.

For those of you that have received the LE box already and have listened to the soundtrack... Can you tell me if the OP song for the series "Stray" is featured on the CD in its entirety or is it just the 1 min 30 sec version used in the series? Just wondered, as this is a GREAT song and I really love Steve Conte's voice on this one. Plus, the lyrics are great too! /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

It's never been stated at any con I've been to either. Whenever it comes up, the question is usually in relation to how they're handling the 4 recap episodes.
Since WR is technically a 30? episode series due to those, a six 6 release was not likely from the start. The only way it may be is if the recaps are kept separate and people skip it.

I was originally expecting it to be on seven discs as well, which is why it was so surprising initially.

So, there's no way that spot is reserved for the soundtracks or something?
6 discs is only logical if they dont seperate the last 4 eps. 5 eps a disc sounds sooooo nice ^^ too bad its a figment of my imagination :\ Bandai had my hopes up....now if you excuse me... i must go make some money for GITS:SAC and Gundam SEED

It all would make sense to me if that's what the 7th disc. /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

There are 2 options they could've done, make Vol 3 a 2 disc set with eps 11-14 and the 4 crap shows on it, or even better, keep it at 5 episodes a volume. Six times 5 is 30, therefore, 6 volumes with 5 episodes each makes 30 episodes. It's not that hard. Bandai just wants to milk this series for all its worth, and that's fine, but I ain't buying it because ti just isn't worth it for me.
