I've only seen up to volume 3, but so far I'm loving this series, and it's good to hear that volume 4 won't disappoint either. /images/graemlins/happy.gif

Pretty much every volume doesn't disappoint. Well, maybe when you reach the ending. I loved it personally, but I can't say for others.
I don't like the packaging for this volume though. I'm pretty sure it's the exact same pic of Dio from the opening. Other than that, can't wait to pick it up and leaving it unopened for a month (like I did w/ vol.3). Doesn't seem to be anything limited w/ this release judging from Chris' review so I think I'll hold back buying it later when I get some money.

Eh, I'm sort of in the same boat. I won't be able to order volume 4 until July. /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif But fortunately, after that volume 5 will be right around the corner. /images/graemlins/happy.gif

I believe there is a line somewhere in the "Packaging" part of the review that says that there are three postcards with this release.

I'll probably use some of my store credit to pick this up from Digital Eyes.

Found the review thread for this /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif. Anyway, I loved it. I thought this was a great character development disc and also shed some light on Claus & Lavie's past. I really hope Claus & Lavie finally get together by the end of the series because they obviously care deeply for one another Great stuff, the wait in-between volumes are killing me though /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif

Thanks! I couldn't care less about Tatiana's vanship, but the one of Claus & Lavie as little kids sitting on the steps looks really nice. Curse you, Geneon! And you, too, Amazon.com!! /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif

I did that too with my Ai Yori Aoshi volume 2. I opened it without checking for the sticker and I'm still quite peeved by it since it was the only postcard I was missing /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif But from then on, I made sure to use the switching trick to get the LE item (this happened with Last Exile volume 2's postcards). But AYA's postcard is still missing... Makes me feel like there's a hole somewhere /images/graemlins/relief1.gif

Unless you got the SE box, then you got the cool Mousepad and Figure.
IIRC, there is no goodies with Volume 5 right? One less DVD to go hunting for at least. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Actually, I'm not sure if Geneon ever announced volume 4 having postcards anywhere. The LE items seem to appear at their will. I wouldn't be so sure we don't have to go goodie hunting in August...

They usually appear in the weekly PDFs. So while Last Exile 4 (http://lib1.store.vip.sc5.yahoo.com/lib/pea/03-09-04.pdf) mentions the Postcard Pack, nothing is mentioned with Last Exile 5 (http://lib1.store.vip.sc5.yahoo.com/lib/pea/05-18-04.pdf)

While I still enjoyed the disc a lot, I was a little disappointed that the battle didn't continue a bit longer, since it's probably the most exciting/interesting battle I've seen in a long time.
And Dio rocks.

If I recall correctly, the vanship was not announced in the pdf but rather was sighted on their Last Exile website. It doesn't currently say or show anything about *any* extras for vol. 5, but then it doesn't for vol. 4 either. (It does show the postcards for vol. 2 though, so they aren't just not showing the postcards.)

I have to say I really like the vanship paper model, but in general, I dont really care much if I get extra stuff with the DVD or not. The show is what Im after. Thats guaranteed with every DVD case so thats all that matters to me /images/graemlins/happy.gif
This show is incredible.

Well, I just finished watching #4 and this series continues to be one of my favorites.
I think that the "kiss" was one of the more surprising parts of this volume, especially considering who it was that initiated the kiss. /images/graemlins/knowital.gif
That part of the scene really caught me offguard as I had thought that they were just going to sit together and "talk". /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif
All in all, I enjoyed this volume very much and gave it a positive vote.
Also, I'm really glad that I held off on watching all of #3 until I received #4 as I wouldn't have wanted to wait 2 months between the volumes. Especially after seeing how the last episode on #3 ended. /images/graemlins/stunned0.gif
If anything, that's the one major downside to Geneon's releases, especially with a series that has a story that continues from one episode to the next.
Still, I'm really looking forward to the next volume. /images/graemlins/happy.gif

i've already seen the entire series via fansub before it's license, but that doesn't stop me from immediately watching each new disc the minute it arrives in my mailbox. plus, i love the extras that are included and the packaging as well.
the only think i don't like is that the ending song always has credits. ~pouts~ i know we have a textless version, but this was one of those endings that i watched every single time when viewing the fansub and i don't do that now because of all the text...but anyway, it's a very small thing anyway. still love the release

Another great disk. I really enjoyed the first 2 episodes with some back stories on the main characters. Gonzo is really getting better at story telling. I haven't seen a grand epic like this in anime for a while. Now I have to wait another 2 months for the next disc.

Alright, so I'm a little late to this party but, I finally found a local copy with the postcards and watched it earlier today. Another great volume of this most awesome show. It was nice to see Dunya again (I don't think they've mentioned her name yet so, I'm spoiler-tagging it). She is probably my 2nd favorite female character in this series (after Allister, of course /images/graemlins/wink.gif).
I'm finding that watching this show a 2nd time around, little things here and there make much, MUCH more sense once you know the ending and the truth behind things. This show is turning out to have great replay value for me! /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif
