37 views and somebody has yet to reply. Where are all the rabid fangirls of the show go?

*grins* Here's the first fangirl (I voted positive, of course). I've been eagerly anticipating this review, and it's great to read your thoughts on the show. I just can't wait to see how the dub turns out.

I could answer that, but not in a work safe manner.

I've heard so much about this anime series and I can't wait to watch it when it comes out /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif. The storyline is totally different, not the typical boy-girl formula, that is what I find intriguing /images/graemlins/shy10000.gif.

I'm a fangirl of the manga. I can't imagine the anime being TOO different.

* quen is not technically a fangirl /images/graemlins/happy.gif and hasn't actually seen the show or manga at all.
however, I think i'll be getting it, partly because of chris's positive review and partly because they provide Japanese op/ed sequences, which for some reason (don't ask) I really prefer.
Of course, this relies on me remembering that I want to get it between now (Chris's advance review) and whenever the DVD store I use decide to list it /images/graemlins/happy.gif I was going to preorder now but it didn't turn up in a search. The release date is still just over a month away, so perhaps that's why, maybe the store haven't got/added the info yet...

Uber fangirl here. First saw the anime back in Feb 2002 and I fell in love with it. It's one of my top favorite anime, so I really cannot wait to own it on DVD! XD
Favorite characters: K and Shuichi. ^^

*waves* I guess I don't need to say I'm a fangirl, do I? My avatar speaks volumes! /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif
I'm so glad Gravitation got reviewed early, this way it'll get some more positive feedback before it's english release. I know some of the guys here heard the word "shonen-ai" and ran for the hills, so maybe this'll bring some of them back. Still, I'm SOOOOOO jealous! You got to watch it on R1 early, the rest of us have to wait another month! /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif Lucky I've got my fansubs, but I can't wait to hold the shiny disc, gorgeous box, and cool backstage pass in my hands! I'm also eager to hear what kind of dub RightStuf came up with... *crosses fingers and hopes for a good dub*

Hell yeah! I'll be more than sure to be wearing mine! *bounces around happily* Now all that's left is to see that it's reserved and shipping from tRSi... ^_^
I can't really wait till I get this in my hands and it goes into the DVD player. Wonder how long will it be.
I can't wait! Love the music, love the cast, love the show.

I'm so psyched about seeing Gravitation with nice video quality. The fansubs were a godsend, but they made my eyes burn (and not in a good way!).

Really? The ones I downloaded are perfect, save for a tiny bit of distortion at the very bottom of the picture.

*checks TRSI everyday, even though it isn't due out for another month* I preordered the first three volumes, and I'm hoping they'll list #4 soon so I can preorder it too. Did you notice how they mentioned the soundtrack (I think in the catalog)? I hope this means they'll be releasing a CD, too...

Oh? Which catalog? I would hope they release a CD or 5 from this series; they'd be foolish not to! I've not heard of concrete proof of this...

Got my copy today, watched it before work! /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif
The dub... wow. What else to say besides Shuichi's VA is DEAD ON! Yuki's sounds a little too old IMO but I got used to it by episode 2. I completely loved it, and I am glad they used "Mr. Bear" in the dub and "Kumagorou" in the subtitles. That way everyone gets the joke. /images/graemlins/happy.gif
The only thing is... no insert? The liner notes on the DVD were nice but on a paper would be better. No insert is sooooo early 90's /images/graemlins/wink.gif
Loved my "Backstage Pass" as well and I'd like to get it signed by the Gravi VAs if they go to any cons. (Otakon! Otakon! /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif )
Overall I am a very pleased fangirl. /images/graemlins/happy.gif Here's hoping for more merchandise to come our way. KUMA PLUSHIE!

We decided against inserts on this one because with the reply card and the envelope for the pass, it was felt that there was enough stuffed in there already.

In the Rightstuf spring catalog there's a whole page on Gravitation, and in it they say "And believe me once you hear the music you're really going to want to have that soundtrack!"
That sounds like advertising to me! /images/graemlins/happy.gif

Awesome! I'd love to own the soundtrack. ^_^
I really appreciated your comments on the dub, Zandra (although my copy probably won't come in until early July /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif...). I've been looking forward to hearing it, and it's reassuring to know that Shuuichi's voice is done well.

My copy was in the player approximately 9 minutes after I opened my mailbox yesterday. /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif
I had a lot of trouble in the extras menu and the opening theme song (screen freezes) but since my player's been acting up lately I'll not call my copy glitched yet. I'll have to try it elsewhere first.
I wasn't as thrilled with the dub though. But I'm a huge fan of the Japanese voice cast, so I admit I'm likely a little biased. Some of the voices/acting were pretty good so far, but others... Yuki comes to mind.. just ... weren't. I actually couldn't make it through the last episode in English, but I did give it 2 and a half though... hey, I tried! /images/graemlins/tongue.gif /images/graemlins/sweat000.gif
LOVING the package though.. it looks really sharp. The clear case that's actually clear, the shiny silver disc with the black cover image silkscreen, even the art on the reverse-side of the cover -- this is gonna be a really nice looking set. No complaints at all about the sound, subtitles, translation, or any of that stuff... and its so pretty... gah.. the clarity! Yay for Gravi on dvd!!! /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif Thank you Right Stuf!

I've not had a chance to check out the dub yet, but to this point, I'm VERY pleased with the sub! My first test came in the opening itself, watching to make sure there was a difference 'koi' and 'ai'. The only thing that I'm not sure of (but I may be wrong on) is when Yuki said to the effect of "She also asks the same questions." I thought that line was actually referring to Kitazawa, given the change in tone and what happened in the past.
One other thing, for the US Trailer: That opening scene is NOT my choice of something to open to! People who haven't seen it won't get it, but once you know... (It's not on disk 1, and that's all I'm saying.)
Yes, I've seen this series countless times, and I want my disk 2 now! ^_^ Although, that ending of ep 6 is really going to make me claw for disk 3!

Very nice job on the packaging and artwork and DVD extras. (I luv my backstage pass!)
I was able to watch all 3 eps in Japanese and then all 3 in English in one shot. Not thrilled with the dub cast, really, although I thought Sakano was dead on!!! What a shame for a second-string character to be soooooo completely the best of the dub cast!!! He seemed to be the only one actually ACTING, while the rest sounded like they were reading their lines and enunciating and matching mouth flaps. I wanted to like the dub, because I wanted to share it with my friends who hate reading subtitles and because there are quite a few dubs I've REALLY liked lately, but this one's not a winner.
It's been a while since I saw the fansubs, so I forgot about some of the musical tracks that didn't make it onto the soundtrack CD I have. They sounded great, and I vote for a soundtrack CD, too, but only if TRSI can get everything onto it.

Okay, my bad, I wasn't sure, so that's why I made sure to not be accusatory.
The only other change I noticed I assume was probably mandated by Sony, and that was the change in the opening from Sony Magazines (Japanese angle) to Gentosha (English angle).
That's a pretty fair review. Can't wait to get my hands on my copy. /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif
