I am positive about the show as I enjoyed it, but now I am negative about the release due to the editing, so I picked neutral. /images/graemlins/sweat000.gif I guess I will stop buying this series due to the editing, but I do still plan on renting each volume since I did enjoy the show.

First off, Geneon has placed the English translated credits directly onto the print, and the original credits are not present on the disc.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well gee, Luis.. we could start a riot about that with most studios. /images/graemlins/wink.gif At least Geneon (in general) tries to match the font & presentation when doing it. And they have provided the original versions before as an extra somewhere in the series as it comes out. The Japanese make clean openings for a reason... /images/graemlins/wink.gif
btw, nice of Geneon Anime Music to release an anime dvd. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Wow... you must not read many of my reviews. /images/graemlins/wink.gif I bang this drum for every title no matter what company puts it out. I don't care for the practice and will continue to make that known.

This is not the days of VHS and LD; the technology is there for a clean version, the original Japanese version, and an English version to live all on the same disc. Look at Funimation's Lupin releases; based on what audio track you select, the disc will play the appropriate alternate angle. Select "English", and you'll see the English language credits. Select "Japanese", and you'll see the original Japanese credits. If Funi can do it, other companies certainly can do the same.
It is certainly not a deal breaker in terms of my decision to purchase a series, but I still find the practice archaic and annoying.

Oh, I know you do it in others. But you're /images/graemlins/horse.gif by mentioning it in this fashion every time no matter how you word it.

Except I *hate* alternate angles being used in this fashion. And I suspect it's partly why the openings for some series like GXP & KG get a little funky on timing with both the authoring studio writing it and the various players reading it. If I had my way, I'd use the original credits and softsub a translation of all of it. But I'm not going to put that in a review I would be writing to be archived on a website or published in a newspaper/magazine. I'd find another way to approach talking about the subject.

I run across this when reviewing manga - mainly with Inuyasha. People want to know why I don't drop-kick Viz everytime for having the series unflipped. I do point it out in the cases where it majorly affects the storyline (for instance, Miroku's kazaana is in the wrong hand.

Well then, stop reading my reviews or at least the video portion then. It's just that simple.

Yes, that would be ideal and once again shows that the technology, even low tech like paper, is readily available. Example -- Cyber Formula from Bandai; original credits on the video with no translation, translation on the insert.

Why not? It is a most appropriate place, as I am reviewing a disc from a content and technical standpoint. If I find a particular practice detracts from my viewing experience, why should I not mention it in my review? To me, this is a flaw that does not need to be present in any release; it affects my viewing experience and is so noted in my review.
Again, if you do not like my views on the matter, skip over the video section in my reviews or skip over my reviews entirely.

lol, all negative /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif. I would have voted positive if it wasn't for the edits. Because of those, it got a big fat NEGATIVE from me

He's got a good point there. I voted Negative myself. First because of editing. And second because I doubt I'd like in general to be honest. Not exactly my style.

I'm pretty annoyed about this - it actually arrived before the edits became public knowledge, but I was too busy to watch it. Now I get time, but I know it's edited. Everytime there was a bit of darkness or fog, I kept wondering if it had been tampered with. Really ruins watching it./images/graemlins/anger200.gif
As for the story, I was a bit disappointed at the pacing - the story only seems to be starting by the end of the disc. I thought it should have been a bit quicker for a short series. I don't know if I would have enjoyed it more if the edits didn't annoy me so much. /images/graemlins/depresse.gif
I honestly don't know if I'll buy the rest of this. I bought the box, which will annoy me if I don't fill it, but with so many good-looking titles coming out soon, it might be a long time before it gets filled, if at all. /images/graemlins/relief1.gif
