I've always wondered how the nice and friendly Dejiko of Panyo Panyo, and the bitchy asshole Dejiko of the original Di Gi Charat could possibly be the same person.

I'll probably get this title eventually... but I want the original series first... lack of Rabi~en~Rose in R1 makes Duck cry.
Positive. Like the Duck I'd rather have the first season, but I'm still just happy to have one of the DGC series out on R1 DVD for me to enjoy. Hopefully it won't take Bandai too long to crank out DGC Nyo! and for SynchPoint to release the original DGC, the movie and the Leave It To Piyoko OVA.
Dejiko may be sweeter in Panyo Panyo, but it's good to see that Puchiko is more or less the same. /images/graemlins/happy.gif

But so many of the lines are just so far different from the original script that it's something that really gets to me. There's always a lip flap issue but this is like a rewrite in a lot of scenes. But at the same time, it's done so well and is so enjoyable that I hate to praise it. Unfortunately it's not the type where the gist of the story is still gotten across in some cases either. There are such large chunks of changes, particularly early on, that it almost feels like I got two series for the price of one. If only it wasn't so well acted!
[/ QUOTE ]
All I can say to this is... "Look Ma! More rewrites!" /images/graemlins/tongue.gif
If this is a new trend of ADV creatively enhancing their kid-oriented series (see Kaleido Star and I'd bet dollars to donuts Milk-chan has some new material) maybe we should start requesting two dub tracks: an edited track and a relatively faithful track. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

A couple of points, 1) the Kaleido Star changes were at the request of the licensor and 2) Milk-chan is NOT a kids show by any stretch of the imagination. Trust me. Besides, Milk-chan already comes with two dubs.

ROFL.... /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif
Strange though considering ADV help fund Kaleido Star. I would have imagine you would have more say in the matter about the script changes.

This show looks ridiculously happy. I'm going to have to check it out on my Newtype disc and from Chris' review, it seems interesting...

Maybe it's a fee thing. "Please insert ten more yen into this series for us to care about your next opinion." or maybe they made some agreements early on. That ADV would not be able to go "We funded you. Do as we say" in every issue. And ADV ended up agreeing to not press some issues maybe. Also we have no idea how ADV funded the series. They may have paid for only 10% of it.

Exactly!
Rabi~en~Rose was always the best part of Di Gi Charat, with Puchiko a close second.

I'm waiting for the first Digi Charat series from SP, then I'll wait for the usual brick release that this series may recieve a year or two from now. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

That phrase sounds like it's from Record of Lodoss War where the characters are like "Pango pango Parn." That's probably not what you're thinking of though...

No no, this isn't anime related.
Ah ha! I remember!
It is from George Carlin's Airline routine.
(somewhat paraphrased)
"And as we arrive at our destination, the stupid lady comes on the intercom and says 'we have no arrived at our destination, the local time is...' Why 'local time'? What other time would they give us? the time in Pango Pango?!"

Simple Dejiko ended up getting very bad channels from earth. She watched trashy tv and ended up becoming a bad girl. Well it could be possible that's what happened. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

I think the best way for one to look at this series is these are the days when Dejiko was happier and kinder. Maybe one day I'll give the series a second chance.

A big fat Positive for me! /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif. I really enjoyed it but the disc went by too quickly /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif. Anyway, Panyo Panyo is actually my least favorite Di Gi Charat anime, my favorite being Nyo and then the original with Panyo Panyo coming up way behind. That being said, it's still better than 80% of the anime that's out there now. It's just sooooooo damn cute /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif but if definitely has a younger, more of a "kiddy" feel than the other series. By that I mean, morals, helping those in need, good things always happen in the end type of stuff. Which is not bad. This volume kept me laughing and when I wasn't laughing, smiling for pretty much the whole disc. Great stuff. Plus it has Megumi Hayashibara sounding and acting soooooo damn cute /images/graemlins/stunned1.gif
Now if only <span style='color:#dddddd;background:#dddddd'>It had lots and lots and lots of fan service</span> joudan, joudan.

Hayashibar voices Pyocola Analogue III (http://www.bro-usa.com/wholesale/titles/dgc-piyoko.html) aka Piyoko, (http://www.tcp.com/~doi/digiko/nyo/piyoko.html) including her younger self in Panyo Panyo.

Having seen a few episodes of Digi Charat subbed, I had developed a great hatred for Dejiko and her little friend, but Rabi~en~Rose held a special place in my heart immediatly.
I rented Panyo Panyo and i couldn't help but be annoyed at Dejiko's extreme over-cheeriness. I was ready to pull out my hair when along came...Piyoko! I don't remember her from the first series...what is she like there? Any other Piyoko fans? /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

Piyoko didn't appear until the summer specials IIRC. Shes pretty much exactly like she is in Panyo really. Piyoko is teh ace, though my favorite character in Panyo Panyo was (spoiler for the last, dramatic plot arc of the series!) <span style='color:#dddddd;background:#dddddd'>Santa Claus, if only for the way he was introduced. Its absolutely the funniest bit of the entire series!</span>

I agree. I have to ask... The licensor requested that the line about baths be specifically replaced with a line about flying a kite?! Did anyone attempt to explain how ridiculous that made the English version sound? And finally, does that mean we can expect this same treatment to continue for the rest of the series?
