Are the linear notes about Greek mythology changing in each volume, or are they the same?

Yes, Shiryuu is the most interesting character in Saint Seiya. I really wish Hyouga and Shun were as developed, although the first 73 episodes really explore all the characters. That's why I was so disappointed the Bronze Saints' growth is mostly arrested until the Hades Chapter. /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif

Well, Shun is the most restricted one until the Hades arc, when all hell is set loose (pun intended /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif.)

The dragging of the fights will always be there in the anime, since Seiya suffered from Kenshin and DBZ syndrome of filler/dragging because they were near the point of where the manga was at.

Hehehe Ikki was awesome against the silver saints /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

And Shiryu's story was excellent, as well with gorgeous action.

It's out????????? Then I shall be buying it soon, especially since I adored the previous volume. And now that I read the review, it seems there'll be some Shiryu goodness /images/graemlins/shy00000.gif /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

Nah. Long, drawn-out battles... that's just how blazing shounen fighting anime are. Saint Seiya's Asgard arc is the filler arc, though the first 73 episodes had a good 16 episodes of pure filler and extras characters added (plus the Battle at the Sanctuary lengthened) because it was originally going to be 52 episodes.

Shiryu rocks bwahahahaha /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

The Greek Mythology info segments are all taken from encyclopedias. Sometimes they match what's actually shown, sometimes it's not related. There was some great Hades info in one of the volumes though, which would have been perfect if placed in a disco corresponding the Hades arc.

Well I hope people other than us are buying the discs so that the Hades arc gets licensed by ADV. I'm going to go back to watching the end of 6 now so I'm ready when mine finally ships from TRSI.

Some parts were dragged out more than they should, at least compared to the manga, which moves quite fast. But that was linked to the merchandising imposed by Bandai, so Toei went and changed a good chunk at first. And the Asgard arc was dragged way too much. It has some great characters, but Toei took some things a bit too far. The bext example would be Mimé, which has an awesome background story (noticed how similar is Soujiro's story from RK to that from Mimé?), but the whole thing took way too much.

Ahh but still I love the characters even with all those flaws.

In part, yes. But the manga moves by at a wicked pace. The anime is a bit drawn out. But the characters and the music more than makes up for it.

DLW has said that it is selling well. And I've noticed that volumes sell at the local stores, but if it's that they have a low stock or its selling really well I don't know. I wonder if someone at ADV could give us numbers, or at least a comparison chart for the titles the company is selling now?

And Hades is sure to be licensed. That one is far too good to not be picked up. And it has some factors the old series doesn't have:
1. Many of the mysteries of the series are answered there, and it has a rock solid storytelling and many original scenes.
2. Being done in 2002/03, they paced it more akin to the manga, so things progress smoothly.
3. It looks gorgeous. A trailer full of eye candy always gets people interested.
Just look at the scenery:

Those pics really look pretty. I haven't watched the Hades arc yet, since I want to see it in the proper order. But I have to admit the beautiful pics have almost convincced me to go ahead...

Saw volume 7 today, and I liked it a lot again /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif. I must say Ikki was badass when he started showing those creepy illusions, and I adored the fact that they gave us more insight into Shiryu.
