View Full Version : Freezing in Vandread Vol. 4

At first I thought it was just the dvd player but now I'm soo confused on what to blame.

Vandread Vol. 4 started to freeze in one of my dvd players (showed lots of squares on the picture). Then I moved it to another dvd player and it was fine till halfway through episode 13, it would not play part B of episode 13. Then I moved it to another dvd player and it worked fine till the ending scene and credits of episode 13. It froze for a couple of times.

Now just to be sure, is it my dvd players that are the problem or is it the disc itself?

What players did you test on?

Sounds like a disc problem, if you're having a problem with it on 2 different players.

The model names right?

Plus it also doesn't work on my PS2.

I counted 5 dvd players the dvd doesn't work on (dvd freezes on) and 1 player the dvd works poorly on, meaning you can see sqaures pop up during the episodes.

There is such a thing that if a dvd does freezes, it would be considered defective?

It does sound like an individual disc problem. As far as I know, different DVD players have different error-correction(not sure of the actual technical term here) settings and therefore have different sensitivities when it comes to reading discs with problems, be it smudge, scratches, fingerprints, or even disc rots. I can play my copy of Vandread Vol. 4 fine on my PS2, for what it's worth.

This was actually a relatively widespread problem when the disc was first released. I got a bad copy from TRSI when I got it last year. Just return it to the retailer and swap it for another copy, which will probably be fine.

From the forum rules:

Equipment matters! - Always always always list the equipment you're using.

The reason for this is so that others with the same equipment can confirm if it's a player or disc issue. Knowing the make and model will thus help to identify it.

That said since no one else seems to be having a problem I'd just try exchanging it if i were you.

I have just run into this problem as I bought this disc off of dvd pacific and I wanted to know is there anyway you can tell if the disc is fixed or not by looking at the box like a different product code. I plan to rebuy the disc but want to e-mail the company first and make sure they have a fixed version if possible

can't you return it?

The one I found was truly a defective disc and I returned it to rightstuf and the 2nd copy came out fine.

Getting a new disc will work ether way.

Unfortunatly I live in the UK and the time span to return the disc has passed (I got it as a present from a friend) I have no problem rebuying it I just want to guarentee a working copy so I was going to e-mail dvd pacific and ask about the discs they have but I need to find out if there is anyway you can tell the difference between the faulty and fixed discs. I can't find an e-mail address for Geneon either so if someone could help me out there it would be much obliged
