In Summary:
Unfortunately for Time Bokan, there is simply so little to say other than "huh?" or "well, that seemed like it might have been interesting if I had any idea who any of this was" that the viewing experience is not a pleasant one. I'm more than comfortable in jumping into series during the middle or while it's airing and figuring it out as I go along, but to come into a series with the very fan-oriented specials that followed the original series up probably something like fifteen years after they ended is not something that can be easily done unless you've got a real familiarity with this time frame. I've not got that familiarity at all so much of this just fell flat for me.

CPM bungles the release of this show, just as ADV messed up the release of the Sonic Soldier Borgman ovas, releasing this show into the miasma of the R1 market without the back up of the original series, as Chris stated most modern anime fans won't watch anything over 2 years old... imagine an ova based on a 70's property without ad and/or fan support just as classic fans have to push for ppl to look at properties as Getter Robot and MazinKaiser and make ppl see the jewels hidden because of the baggage of their history /images/graemlins/knowital.gif /images/graemlins/stunned1.gif

I agree on the first episode, I was happy when it ended. I've only ever seen a couple of OPs and some stills from Time Bokan I know what it was about but that's about it. From the look of it, even if I had seen more Time Boken it would have been bla.

The second OAV was not bad, being old enough to have seen several of the shows that appeared made the second episode a lot more fun. If your not old enough to have watched Battle of the Planets, and speed racer as a kid... run away.

Was it worth the $17 CND I paid? Not really, but it's far from the worst thing I have ever bought.

Have no interest whatsoever in this title but would still be appreciative if someone who's snapped this up could pass along which dub studio tackled this for CPM.

Many thanks! /images/graemlins/happy.gif

They don't seem to say (if it was me I would not put my name on it) but it's a real cheapo job with people doing multiple voices. Looks like the same bunch that do other CPM stuff like Patlabor.

ADR is Allan Gus, Audio post is by Matlin Recording (they work on a lot of CPM stuff), if that is of any help.
