The whole concept of a carbuncle is just damn creepy to begin with and that makes this episode particularly difficult at times, especially with the beyond reality things that they do as the story progresses. The plot itself is interesting enough and it runs in a straightforward manner but there are enough small twists and turns here that while they're easy to guess early on, it's a logical series of leaps that make sense.
