In Summary:
While there are some changes to the show, it still feels very much like the Burn Up franchise that we've seen over the years, just slicker looking and with a few character design and personality changes. It plays to the babes with gun genre well and has fun with both aspects of it. There's some hints of a larger story to take place during the opening episodes here but for the beginning we're given the usual introductions and a look at the way this world operates. It's good simple fun that gives me a bit of nostalgia to a show I liked several years ago but wasn't exactly a raving fanboy about. Burn Up Scramble is a nice change of pace from a lot of what's coming out these days which says a lot about how the market has changed in the past ten years.

Positive and a B + for me /images/graemlins/happy.gif. This is one fun series, plus it Rio firing a gun with her crotch, a naked apron, nipples, panty sniffing, and giant upskirt shots. You can't go wrong with those. My only complaint is that Geneon (I'm assuming) changed the positions of the characters on the cover so that Rio's panties aren't showing. What the hell was the point?

edit: Oh, thanks for the Japanese extras /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

Some of the fanservice is decently done but a lot of it is just so overt that it's not all that interesting or fun to watch since you know it's coming. The art of real fanservice just doesn't seem to exist for a lot of shows anymore as everything becomes much more up front.

I think it's kind of sad that good fanservice is becoming a dying art form. As fanservicey as shows like Ikkitousen are, it's a shame they've lost sight the (not-so) innocence and the spontaneity that made it so fun in the good old days.

fanservice is fanservice to me /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif. While I appreciate the subtle nature of "real fanservice" ie) was that a nipple I just saw? Or the way the wind blew made it look like she wasn't wearing undies. I love the overt, balls on the wall, nipples, cameltoes, and bouncy bouncy that's in a lot of anime now. A true fanservice connoisseur can appreciate all different types of pervy service.
