The end to Please Twins does a great job of not turning this into a harem show or some other completely unrealistic piece. Though there's always the issue of three teenagers living by themselves, the show has played things straight for the most part and kept from having too much filler material or overly angsty periods where people wallow in self-pity over their situation. The revelations of the truth come pretty quickly going by the actual timeline of the show and they avoid any sort of silliness like bringing the mother into play or something equally unsuitable. The show does a really good job of showing that you can love more than one person and that it's not wrong to do so. While it does resolve into a standard relationship, the potential that they showed for something more interesting definitely earned this series some points. Beautiful animation, simple and elegant music as well as an interesting story with good characters, Please Twins ends on the up note and leaves me with a very big smile and fond memories.

Yeah, just got my copy from TRSI .... NOT!! I have to wait a whole month to get this baby into my hands.

Is the OAV where we find out that Ichigo is actually the mother of the twins? Just speculation on my part, but nothing a little time travel couldn't solve. /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

Well, that's just about a perfect summation of this sweet li'l series.

As to who was related to who, from the get-go it was obvious that Karen was the li'l sis type, and that Miina and Maiku would end up as a couple...a work-in-progress couple, to be sure. So, no surprise there, although, when all is said and done, I actually liked the novels' pairing better for precisely the reason of playing against type. Still, it's all very sweet and nice. 

As to the truth about Ichigo, /images/graemlins/devil.gif

...Well, let's just say that Chancellor Palpatine still has much to learn, compared to Ichigo. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Now, I do have one big complaint about this disc, and that involves the credits.

I like seeing the original Japanese credits, with one role of the credits in English at the end of the disc. However, there's a danger that someone will forget to include some info when a translation of the credits is not performed for each episode, and Bandai has a big goof here.

Yep, they managed to leave the names of a lot of the OVA guest cast off of the names of the Japanese voice cast, while, strangely, they do list the English voice cast.

It's really reprehensible for a character like Koishi Herikawa, who actually shows up, in episode 11 and the OVA to be left off. (As an Ayako Kawasumi fan-boy, I admit to bias.)

Since the OVA has an appearance by the students who were in Please Teacher! I am annoyed that the guest seiyuus are not properly credited.

Still, that quibble doesn't affect my enjoyment of this series. BTW, be sure to keep watching until after the credits have rolled on the OVA. /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

There have been those who've been down on this series, but I give this series an emphatic Highly Recommended mark.

Oh, and the extras are just great. 3 more song files, one for each episode (including the OVA) plus a clean closing of episode 12.

And then there's the post card. It is a very nice picture of the whole cast from the OVA.

When I first heard this was going to be a spin-off of Please Teacher! I had my doubts. While I can't really say which one I like more, as there are significant differences between the two series (as well as similarities, of course), my doubts were almost laid to rest after the first disc, although there was always a chance that the show could fall apart.

It didn't, and all doubts have now been permanently interred.

I watched this when it originally came out, and thought it paled in comparison to Teacher, but I still think I'll be game for a purchase when Bandai bricks it up. The Teacher brick is amazingly cheap, and I'd leap on something similar for this -- especially since I've never seen the OVA episode.

I think in the end it's just because I need more Ichigo and Mizuho!

I love this show except for my one problem with the relationship of two characters. Besides that, I can't get enough. Hopefully my copy will be here today so i can comment on the content.

Just finished this up a while ago and it was a fun series to watch. I didn't enjoy the OVA episode because Karen's behavior was really disturbing...She was so shy before. Well at least they didn't make her pathetic like Matagu, who sickens me.

Acutally I thought Karen turning into super possesive little sister was very funny. Matagu was hilarious. I remember Kei saying how perverted Matagu was in Please Teacher, and now we know.

The funniest part of the show was during the credits of the 12th episode. Especially Karen enthusatically scrubbing Miina's back in the tub. /images/graemlins/devil.gif Was there some significance to Haruko holding a snake? That didn't make any sense.

Judging from way in which that sequence was edited, where the shock reaction of the girls came first, I think Haruko holding the snake was supposed to be a punchline of sorts. (For me, at least, the humor in that scene lay in that I had assumed the girls were reacting so something very, very bad. Like Matagu standing without pants, or something. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif)

Humor in the unexpected? Perhaps someone else knows better. Until then, that's my guess. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I don't think it was supposed to be anything that complex; to me it was just showing that Haruko is a tomboy that likes creatures that the other girls find creepy.

I liked how this series ended but I think "Teacher" is still the better of the two "Please" series. I would have liked to seen Maho in this series and have her going to school with everyone, and possibly try to make a move on Kamishiro and be a real threat to Miina and Karen's Love Alliance /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif.

OK, I have a question about the bit at the very end of episode 12, after the ED. It goes like this:

Maiku: Hey, Miina, did you know?
Miina: Know what?
Maiku: That photo from when we were babies...That was actually you and me.
Karen: Apparently, I was taking a nap.
Maiku: So even back then, the three of us were together, Miina.

I may be very dense, but was this information revealed in Maiku and Karen's Mother's diary? Does this mean that Miina lived next door in the run-down old house? Or did Maiku and Karen live in the run-down old house, and Miina lived in their current house?

Also, it sure seems lame to throw a revelation this gigantic into the show right at the very end, and in such a casual way. I mean it's the answer to a major, burning question, and it's tossed in with an, "Oh, by the way, Miina, here's the deal with the pictures..." off-hand remark. It just seemed really out of place and rushed to me.

I did like the show a lot, although I like Please, Teacher more. The music for both series is great, though.

IIRC, in the novels it's revealed that one of the girls was the daughter of the neighbors who lived next door to Maiku and his sister. However, in the novels the relationships are reversed so I can only assume that part is still the same. I believe they learned about the situation through a note on the back of a photograph found in the abandoned house next door.

Well you kinda know that the girl in the picture in Mina anyway since you can spot some pink hair underneath the hat, so its not that gigantic of a revelation.

I don't think they covered that in the anime either. I'm going by the novels, but with them having a different ending, I'm not sure how canon they are. I think they just threw that line in at the end to address any questions people might have, but it can be kind of confusing.

I'm wondering where the whole "Please" universe continues after the end of "Twins". I think it would be fun to have Maho be brought back into the series to give Miina some more romantic competition for Maiku, now that we've found out Karen is Maiku's twin sister.. Also, get to a graduation ceremony for the six "Teacher" characters (Kei, Hyosuke, Matagu, Koishi, Kaede, Ichigo) as a possible conclusion for this series (just make sure to have Ichigo give a speech at the ceremony )/images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif.
