Here we go again! I just got volume 7 of Chrono Crusade in today. I only watch a little bit, but I noticed that English dub is distorted like volume 6. /images/graemlins/relief1.gif
I can live with it, but it is a little bit annoying.
Players:
Sony DVPNS-315
PS2 3.10 DVD driver
EDIT: I should mention, that I noticed that the distortion varies from player to player (same with volume 6). On my Sony player it's not that bad, but on my PS2 it's annoying.
EDIT 2: I tryed the DVD on my PC which has a 2.1 (two speakers and a subwoofer) sound system and the distortion was far less. It looks like it's a downmixing issue.

I noticed some problems too with my copy. Right from the opening of the English version, it sounded tinny and almost MONO with the way it was coming through my TV's speakers. I switched over to the Japanese audio and didn't notice any of those problems, so I just watched out the rest of the disc that way. I haven't seen it get as much press as some other discs/series out there, but ADV's release of Chrono Crusade has been one of the worst I've ever seen in terms of the audio content. Just about every disc has had some sort of problem... /images/graemlins/relief1.gif /images/graemlins/anger100.gif

Is it only for the opening theme or the entire disc?

The entire English track. However, the opening theme is were it's most noticable.

This is just only on the English audio, the Japanese audio isn't effected. I doubt ADV will do a replacement, unless a couple 100 people complain. Judging on the response from this thread and the previous one. It doesn't look like it's going to happen.

Bummer, I love the the dub's a lot from the other volumes. Actually all the anime ive watched thus far has been just by dub's /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif . I am a sucker for Tiffany Grant I guess /images/graemlins/happy.gif.
Well I guess it wont prevent me from buying 6 & 7, but I will be mildly dissapointed.
Thx anyways! :D

I just finished watching volumes 6 and 7 of Chrono Crusade. I encountered no audio drop-outs or abnormalities with the English audio. It sounded (and looked) great. I am curious what types of audio equipment the people reporting problems are using.

I'm just using my stereo TV. I think it's something to do with the 5.1 mix.

Oh poo!
I'm in the same boat as Salvo with the English Dub.
Well, I'll buy it anyway, maybe it might not be as bad as I think it will be...but then again I couldn't stand the audio problem in Eden's Bowy Vol. 1

Ah, so it's a downmixing issue. If older volumes of Chrono Crusade don't have this issue, then ADV must have changed something in their 5.1 mix format (which includes information on how to produce the stereo mix). And if they have screwed it up, that certainly qualifies as a glitch.

Listening to it on my Ilo player in my office hooked up via RCA jacks directly into the stereo speakers on my TV, no issues at all with the English track - opening or in episode for the first few minutes of the first episode.

Sounds like they are using the same equpiment that ADV UK are using then. Some of there discs have awful downmixing problems.

This is indeed odd, since two volumes are suffering from the same problem. Like others said, it's most likely a down mixing problem.
I'm going to try it on my PC, which has 2.0 sound system.

How can you not hear it?
Put on some headphones and switch between the tracks while playing the intro. It's impossible not to notice it. If you don't notice it, then you must somehow have a disc that's different than what we're getting or something.
