There used to be a thread about this, but I can't find it.

Anyhoo, you should know the drill. Post the changes/improvements/whatever that are found only on the DVD-version of the show(s) you'd seen previously in broadcast-version or even from the R1-version.

I should start with my latest:

<font color="blue">Tsukuyomi ~Moon Phase~ ep-14 of vol-7 dvd </font>

The Hazuki art from the Tsukuyomi-mode op was totally different from the broadcast-version.

I'll post diff-pics later.

<font color="blue">Full Metal Panic: fumoffu? (R2, R3)</font>
Near the beginning of the first episode, there is an additional scene where Sousuke is talking on a radio to Tessa, assuring her that he isn't causing any trouble or anything. This is probably also in the R1 DVD version, but don't own that edition.

It is on the R1 as well and it confused the hell out of me because I couldn't remember it happening in the fansub version /images/graemlins/happy.gif

Martian Successor Nadesico had improved scenes IIRC.

Kare Kano OVA episodes had different music in episodes 14 &amp; 15 &amp; a subtle-using-stills lovemaking scene in episode 18 to the TV version RS was sold.

I suppose the Evangelion DC episodes 21 - 24 could be counted as well.

I've got screenshots of some of the Negima changes (http://anime.thenexxus.org/blog/archives/negima/index.html) (as well as the reanimated scenes they fixed one error and added another).

Kiddy Grade had some Engrish (http://www.kiddygrade.info/engrish/) fixed and also some litte improvements (http://www.kiddygrade.info/stuff/ratio/) and added nipples (http://www.kiddygrade.info/stuff/fs/) (see the files starting x)

R.O.D The TV had some improvements made.

Stellvia had some Engrish (http://anime.thenexxus.org/engrish/) fixed.

I remember from a Funimation panel that they were going to release 2 versions of Sunabouzu. I was wondering what are the differences between the broadcast version and the DVD release?

Also, are there any changes and addition to the home release to Basilisk as well?

Checked out Magic 4 yet? I haven't done a side to side comparison, but I have the feeling nothing much was changed for this one, if anything (I thought the same thing about Magic 3 until I saw your comparison, though). Most of the eps were already pretty nicely animated (except for XVI which seemed to have some off-model shots), and the shot of Akira splashing Nodoka with water in XV suddenly becoming Akira splashing Ako remained unfixed.

Also, I think the starting with the episodes on this disc, the logo in the OP was supposed to be silver (which looks better IMO), but it's still blue on the DVD.

Mine's only just shipped so not had a chance to compare yet.
Not expecting manny changes since we're around the point the staff changed now so the only things they have to 'fix' are their own mistakes.

I've only managed to watch ep 13 so far, and there were more changes than I was expecting (http://anime.thenexxus.org/blog/archives/2005/10/negima_13_dvd_i.html). Looks like whole segments were re-animated since again while there were be some fairly obvious changes in one scene, the next would be barely noticeable; stuff like the way shadows are drawn and minor changes to eye shape, hence probably not shown on my site as due to the size of the screenshots I only really kept the big changes. It's obvious that the new staff are carefully following the same storyboards as the original animators, for example look at the last screenshot I took from episode 2 - the original animators decided to add shiny strands to Asuna's hair and while the frame is exactly the same otherwise in the DVD version they didn't include the strands so it seems they were reanimation a section they worked from the same source material but did not necessarily refer to the original animation itself, and as has been noted (http://anime.thenexxus.org/blog/archives/2005/07/dvd_bug.html) also made some new mistakes of their own.

Oh, and watch out the the completely random and bizarre fanservice shot that's been added in easter-egg style.

edit: PS, volume 5 shipped the other dat also.

They changed the graphic and the ending-music of episode-19:

the original TV-ED (without the song-subs, of course): http://img284.imageshack.us/my.php?image=moonphase19endtv2qv.jpg

Now this is the ED in the DVD: http://img284.imageshack.us/my.php?image=moonphase19enddvd6sx.jpg

Which one is better? Personally, I think both were kewl, actually.

I'm beat and way too lazy to do a more detail-diff between the broadcast and the dvd versions, so I'll just leave you guys with some Hazuki snaps of ep-20's clean-ending. /images/graemlins/cool.gif

Aww.. it's more fun to search for it.
Anyway, 4th clip up from the bottom. Direct link below but I think I disabled hotlinking so you may have to cut and paste.

before: http://anime.thenexxus.org/blog/images/negima/DVD13/bscap052.jpg
after: http://anime.thenexxus.org/blog/images/negima/DVD13/PDVD_052.jpg

OK, put AoD on the allowed referrers list so should be OK now.

Damn, I never would have noticed that, it almost looks like an animation error.

Just to mention, that the DVD of Glass Mask has the the second opening animation for all the episodes on the first DVD. the original T.V version had a different animation for episodes 1-3...however the second is better IMO

I didn't do a comparison with the broadcast version, but there seemed to be some improvements.

The creditless version of the final OP is actually a full-screen, color version of all the clips (it was also played at the Dai Mahora-sai back on the 10th). Quite trippy.

I did a comparison as usual, but didn't spot anything myself.
Do you know what the empty slipcase is for?

To fill the gap left in the box if you have the first press Digipak versions of the disks rather than the none-FP versions, as far as I'm aware. The box is sized to be big enough for seven regular DVD cases, anyway.

i'm not collecting it, don't know if this was mentioned already, otherwise my bad., but the official site shows changes to the canvas 2 dvd.

NSFW (http://www.kadokawa.co.jp/canvas2/index.php?cnts=cd#20060406) really.

I was wondering if Grenadier (http://www.wowow.co.jp/anime/grenadier/index.html) had any improvements and/or changes for its DVD release?

I just finished watching the broadcast version, and while I didn't find any problems in the animation, I would consider buying this on R2 DVD if it was somehow polished. A quick peek at CDJapan shows the discs have Linear PCM sound too. /images/graemlins/happy.gif

The DVD version of My-ZHiME episode 20 (http://www.beta-waffle.com/blog/?p=287&amp;page=3) has had a few scenes redrawn from the looks of things. I know a few previous episodes (like that swimming pool episode /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif) have had some work done to them as well.
