Overview:

This second of the semiannual VA Draft will consist of 16 participants, each selecting 10 picks over 10 consecutive rounds. Draft order will be determined randomly by Draft Administrator and will be set for each of the ten rounds. A snake draft will be used where every other round will proceed backwards up the draft order (ex.: Round 1: 1-16; Round 2: 16-1; Round 3: 1-16; etc.)

The Fall 05’ Draft will be a contest for each participant to select any 10 voice actors who have appeared in any English anime dub at any time and any location, and then to configure the selections in the cast of an anime title that has been predetermined and announced before Draft commencement, as selected by Draft Administrator Vicious.

Procedure:<ul type="square"> Each of the 10 rounds will have its own thread, ideally maintained and if need be anchored by an English Track moderator. In each thread, selections will be made by replying to the root post and typing in the subject line the round number, pick number for that round, and selection. (ex.: 1:16 Hilary Haag) Any posts that do not follow the format will not be counted. General discussion of picks is allowed (and most likely encouraged) in the Round threads. Each participant will have 24 hours after the last pick to make their selection. If in 24 hours a pick is not made that person’s pick position will drop to the end of the round. Any participant missing two picks in such fashion will be removed from the Draft.* Selections made out of turn will not be guaranteed for that participant until their official round position comes up, and are free to be taken by other participants in turn. There is no other penalty. Aliases: any actor who has an alias may be drafted only once under whichever is the first name to be picked, whether it be the real name or the alias. All remaining names under that person will become ineligible to be drafted.** When all ten rounds are completed, each participant will configure their cast for the selected title. They will be posted in a new thread for all other participants and English Track readers to read. <font color="red">VOTING PROCEDURE:</font> Casts from every participant may be posted in any order in the collection thread through Sunday, Oct. 2. Sunday night, 4 voting threads will be created representing 4 groups of 4 casts each, Group A, B, C, and D. Voters my vote over the course of the week in each thread. The 4 winners of each group will then compete in a new voting thread for one more week to choose the overall winner. VA Draft Winner for the Fall 05’ competition will win the admiration and/or scorn of his or her fellow participants and forum members. (No other prize is guaranteed. But feel free to treat yourself. Also, if you are not already him, you may join Geoduck in the VA Draft Winners Club. Draft administrators are not responsible for what happens in the Winners Club.)
* As based on precedence from the first VA Draft, if a participant either drops out of their own will, or is removed from the Draft for missing two picks or for an infraction against English Track forum rules in the course of their participation, they will be replaced by the first person to reply to the Draft Administrator’s open call.

** In regard to alias picks: If someone attempts to draft someone who has already been drafted under a different name, other participants and knowledgeable spectators should respond only to say that that person has been drafted, without discussing openly which name that was, as per English Track Forum Rules. Private Messages may be used to further discuss the details to the satisfaction of the participants, if need be.

Suggestions? Complaints? Additional information? Entirely new ideas? (Yes, it's not yet Fall, but close enough for the time of year--and the first draft back in February may as well be considered the "Spring" draft, hm?)

Predetermined Selection for the Fall 05’ English Track VA Draft: <font color="blue">Neon Genesis Evangelion</font>

Directions for the casting exercise:

Each participant must use 9 of their draft picks to fill the following characters from the television series: <ul type="square"> Shinji Ikari Rei Ayanami Asuka Langley Sohryu Gendou Ikari Kouzou Fuyutsuki Misato Katsuragi Ritsuko Akagi Ryouji Kaji Pen Pen
A final (10th) pick may be used to fill one additional character from the show, of the participant's choosing. This may include, but it is not limited to:<ul type="square"> Kaworu Nagisa Touji Suzuhara Kensuke Aida Hikari Horaki Maya Ibuki Makoto Hyuuga Shigeru Aoba Keel Lorenz
When casting, any draft pick who has appeared as one of the characters in any dub of Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV (http://www.crystalacids.com/database/series/neon_genesis_evangelion.html), TV Director's Cut (http://www.crystalacids.com/database/series/neon_genesis_evangelion_directors_cut.html), Death &amp; Rebirth (http://www.crystalacids.com/database/series/neon_genesis_evangelion_death_and_rebirth.html) or The End of Evangelion (http://www.crystalacids.com/database/series/neon_genesis_evangelion_the_end_of_evangelion.html )) is not eligible to be cast in that same role(s). (ex.: Tiffany Grant may be drafted, but she is ineligible to be cast as Asuka Langley Sohryu, etc.)

At the conclusion of the drafting rounds, a new thread will be established where participants may post their completed casts.

Any additional details will be added when they are decided (voting, etc.)

For any participants unfamiliar with Neon Genesis Evangelion, or even those not participating who may follow the draft and/or vote on it, hopefully some volunteers will supply non-spoiler character descriptions for each character here. Alternately or in addition to, participants and spectators may look to Google for character descriptions as well—only be cautious of potential spoilers.

Full character descriptions can be found at this handy dandy website (http://www.animeinfo.org/featured/eva/evapeople.html), courtesy of AnimeInfo.org. Simply avoid the Classified Info links if you're skittish about spoilers and you'll be fine.

Cool characters we're presently not able to recast include any of the NERV crew (Makoto Hyuga, Maya Ibuki, Shigeru Aoba), Keel Lorenz, Yui Ikari and Naoko Akagi. This makes me sad. /images/graemlins/depresse.gif

I think the only thing you're missing is the rule that states VAs who have played the character are ineligible to be drafted for that character. In other words, you can draft Tiffany Grant, but not for the character of Asuka.

There's also the question of whether some of us would want to mirror the Japanese casting and have the same VA voice Rei and Pen Pen. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

It looks like the rules prevent it, since you have to use 9 VAs to cast 9 roles, and Rei and Pen Pen are two of the nine.

Well, since ADV and other studios sometimes use VA's for multiple roles, we are allowed to here as well. You can use 1 VA to voice the entire cast if you so desire. You obviously would never want to do that except maybe in the case of Pen Pen. Which is part of the reason I threw him in there. To see the various ways he is going to get cast.

Okay, then if someone used Monica Rial to voice both Pen Pen and Rei Ayanami, then that would be 8 actors used to voice 9 characters. Could they then cast two of the extra characters? That would mean using 10 actors to voice 11 characters.

Everyone will be submitting a cast of 10 characters. How many VA's they decide to use to create that cast is their choice.

Right, forgot that. Thanks. Added.

That should be about everything to get started. Unless there's some thought to B-Rad's suggestion about expanding the 10th character pool in the result of all participants being familiar with NGE.

I forgot if this was covered before, but what if someone unknowingly drafts an alias of a VA already drafted? Will a mod PM the player so as not to "out" the VA in question?

We had a rule in place. Forgot exactly what it was. We'll tell you in the thread that that person has already been drafted. And if you want a PM if you don't know the alias, I guess you could ask for one asking when he was drafted.

Either way, you have 24 hours to make your pick. So if you make your pick early and someone tells you they've already been taken, you can change it. But if you wait until the last second, you're not gonna have time to change it and you can make that pick at the end of that round.

I'd like to suggest one change:

[ QUOTE ]
When casting, any draft pick who has appeared as one of the characters of any English dub of Neon Genesis Evangelion (http://www.crystalacids.com/database/series/neon_genesis_evangelion.html) is not eligible to be cast in that same role(s). (ex.: Tiffany Grant may be drafted, but she is ineligible to be cast as Asuka Langley Sohryu, etc.)

[/ QUOTE ]

The bold part in the first line is what I'm referring to.

Here are the character descriptions thanks to Stax. The first 9 are mandatory. The 10th and final character is totally up to the individual participants discretion. Stax was nice enough to include descriptions for 8 extra charcters in case you wanted to choose one of those.

Mandatory 9:

Ritsuko Akagi: Age 28. Ritsuko is the Head Researcher for NERV, and one of Kaji and Misato's closest friends. She is responsible for the maintenance of the MAGI computer system that is currently in use by NERV and other organizations around the world. The MAGI system is composed of three supercomputers programmed with different ways of thinking, and her mother's personality, divided into that of a woman, a mother, and a scientist, is the one that is programmed into the MAGI machines. She is also responsible for the maintenance and continuing research into the EVA project and marks its progress with regards to its pilots. Ritsuko's relationship with Kaji and Misato goes all the way back to when they all went to college at Tokyo-2. Ritsuko also harbors a slight dislike towards Rei.
Voice Actor: Sue Ulu

Rei Ayanami: Age 14. Rei is the 1st child. She is the pilot of EVA Unit 00, which is the Proto-Type Model. There is not much information or personal history for her. All the files in the NERV computer system have been erased. Her personality is very quiet and shy. Rei is silent most of the time, mostly talking only when she is talked to. She very rarely shows any emotions. However she does show an emotional attachment to Gendou Ikari, father of Shinji.
Voice Actor: Amanda Winn-Lee

Kouzou Fuyutski: Age 50s. Fuyutsuki is the second in command of NERV, second only to Gendo Ikari. He is an experienced tactician, but he is also a very educated man, and the professor who originally taught Yui Ikari, Gendo's eventual wife. Not nearly as cold and unfeeling as his superior, Fuyutsuki is nevertheless heavily loyal to Gendo and his ideals. He is also privy to much of what Gendo knows, and has been with the organization since it was originally known as Gehirn.
Voice Actor: Guile Lunde, Michael Ross

Gendo Ikari: Age 40s. Gendo is the commander of NERV. With his cold, calculating personality, and his seeming lack of desire for human contact, he has carved a path to achieve his goals by using and manipulating people. His coldness even extends to his own son, Shinji, who he abandoned at a young age. As a result, Shinji has hated him ever since. However, Gendo has had considerable success as the commander of NERV and has made great strides in accomplishing its purpose. He follows the orders of SEELE, the ruling organization that NERV reports to, but he has his own agenda as well. Gendo calls Shinji back only to get him to pilot EVA-01 against an Angel attack, which, due to the injuries to Rei, he is forced to do. Gendo's only semblance of emotion seems to concern Rei, who he treats even better than Shinji.
Voice Actor: Tristan MacAvery, John Swasey

Shinji Ikari: Age 14. Shinji is the 3rd child, according to the Marduk Report. He is the pilot of EVA Unit 01, which is the Test-Type model. He has been separated from his father for 10 years, and he does not get along with him well even after he becomes involved with the NERV program. He was witness to his own mother's death/disappearance during an EVA-Synchronization Test when he was still a small child. Called back to his father, he is ordered to become the Pilot of EVA Unit 01, but he hates to pilot them, mostly out of his own sense of self-pity for what he is doing. His personality can best be described as: quiet, gentle, kind, passive, and introverted. However due to the influences of those around him, he has become more sociable, and interacts better with others as the series goes on. The pain of separation and loneliness, however, is still evident in his actions and feelings.
Voice Actor: Spike Spencer

Ryouji Kaji: Age 30. Kaji is a NERV Special Elite Officer who has been stationed all over the world until recently (he is called by his last name all throughout the show). He accompanies Asuka from Germany to Japan. He has also been friends with both Misato and Ritsuko since college. He dated Misato in the past, and is her only past boyfriend. His personality is best described as cunning, humorous, light-hearted, and slick with women. Asuka has a crush on him.
Voice Actor: Aaron Krohn

Misato Katsuragi: Age 28. Misato is a Captain of NERV, and the head of Operations. Fiery and headstrong, yet very efficient in battle, Misato's tactical decisions are oftentimes risky, but on target, especially where the Angels are concerned. She is the one who first meets up with Shinji in order to take him to where he is needed to pilot EVA-01 into its first battle, and eventually becomes his caretaker, taking him into her apartment. She also eventually has Asuka, the pilot of EVA-02 move in with her as well, in order to promote better pilot synchronization. Misato also knows about her obvious beauty and is not afraid to flaunt it. However, she is secretly quite disorganized and a slob when it comes to her home, and she is also a notorious beer-drinker - something which Shinji disdains. Misato may have picked up these habits from her college days, where she attended school with Kaji and Ritsuko.
Voice Actor: Alison Keith (Shipp)

Pen-Pen: Age unknown. Pen-Pen is a "warm water penguin", a specially conditioned penguin that can survive in the warm weather. Pen-Pen lives in a refrigerator in Misato's apartment and drinks almost as much beer as Misato does. Though Pen-Pen is technically a pet, Misato tends to think of him as another roommate. Pen-Pen seems to have a bit of intelligence and has learned to open doors and get food and drink for himself.
Voice Actor: Amanda Winn-Lee, Mandy Clark

Asuka Langley Sohryu: Age 14. Asuka is the 2nd child, according to the Marduk Report. She is the pilot of the EVA Unit 02, which is the German Production Model, and the intended first "mass produced" model of EVA. Her father abandoned her, running off to marry a doctor. Her mother suffered from psychological poisoning from a failed EVA-Synchronization Test and later committed suicide when Asuka was only 4 years old. Her foster mother was her Aunt on her mother's side.
Asuka is a child genius, having completed college, and is only going to Junior High to have something to do when she is not piloting her EVA Unit. She traveled to Tokyo 3 with Ryoji Kaji, who she has a crush on, and ended up with Shinji to be the first pilots to ever test an EVA in underwater combat.
Asuka is a very highly motivated person. She hates losing, especially to Shinji, who she feels is a foolish boy. Her strong personality was a result of her very troubled past and very unstable childhood. Asuka does not get along with Rei Ayanami well; this is in part due to her relationship with her mother after she had gone crazy. Rei's somewhat cold attitude does not mix with Asuka's brash personality very well.
Voice Actor: Tiffany Grant

Optional 8:

Kensuke Aida: Age 14. Kensuke is a classmate of the EVA pilots and is also friends with Toji Suzuhara and Shinji Ikari. Kensuke's father works in the NERV research facility, and Kensuke occasionally makes use of this in order to get "secret" information about current events. Kensuke is a very talkative person and he is also very imaginative. He is also very interested in the military. He envies the EVA pilots, and has always wanted to be one. He camps outside at times to practice his survival training, often alone. He carries around with him a video camera that he uses to tape what he can, specifically of the battles between the EVAs and the Angels.
Voice Actor: Kurt Stoll

Shigeru Aoba: Age unknown. Shigeru is an Operations Officer for NERV and, along with Maya Ibuki and Makoto Hyuga, are among the main persons responsible for operating the NERV system and monitoring activities. Shigeru has an apparent love for the guitar and has been seen with guitar magazines. He possesses the ability to shut down the I/O system for NERV due to his possession of a key that he and Makoto have.
Voice Actor: Jason Lee, Vic Mignogna

Hikari Horaki: Age 14. Hikari is the class representative in Shinji, Asuka, Toji, Rei, and Kensuke's class. She is strong-willed, independant, and isn't afraid to use her limited authority in order to keep order in the class (with varying results). Her and Asuka forge somewhat of a close bond because of her personality, and she stands up for Asuka when necessary. Though she isn't quite sure what to make of the Evangelion pilots at first, she eventually comes to accept them.
Voice Actor: Carol Amerson, Kimberly Yates

Makoto Hyuga: Age early 20s? Makoto is cool under pressure, and is very accurate and exact when he is doing his reporting. He hates to leave anything with loose ends. He is the battle strategy operator for NERV's Central Dogma center. He does Misato's laundry because she is to lazy to do it herself, and also because he has a crush on her. Makoto's faovrite things to do include reading comics and manga.
Voice Actor: Brian Granveldt (Matt Greenfield), Keith Burgess

Maya Ibuki: Age 24. Maya is an idealist, and the hard working, smart and quiet member of the NERV support staff in Central Dogma. She is the one that deals with the synchronization ratio results and she works with the MAGI system with her mentor, Dr. Ritsuko Akagi. Maya is also the highest ranked of the three NERV Lieutenants, but despite this, she does not like violence. Maya is famous for saying that things "don't work" when they are supposed to.
Voice Actor: Kendra Benham, Amy Seeley, Monica Rial

Keel Lorenz: Age unknown. Keel Lorenz is the head of SEELE, the overhanging organization that NERV reports to. Along with the rest of SEELE, who are represented by countries all over the world, Keel manipulates world events behind the scenes, helping to shape NERV into an organization that holds more power than even the UN through their Evangelion Project, a precursor to the ultimate Project, the Human Instrumentality Project. He places Gendo Ikari in charge of NERV, and Gendo reports to him and the rest of SEELE from time to time. Keel Lorenz is even more of a cutthroat than Gendo is and will do anything in order to keep the Project on schedule and achieve what he feels is mankind's destiny.
Voice Actor: Richard Peeples, Tom Booker

Kaworu Nagisa: Age 15. Kaworu is the 5th child, according to the Marduk Report. He was born on the same day as the Second Impact, the crisis in the year 2000 that ravaged mankind. There is not much that can be said about him because there is not much background on him that can be pulled up even by NERV. He is a very mysterious person who seems to see into people's hearts, and he is very open-hearted and kind. He and Shinji Ikari become good friends with each other. Kaworu treats Shinji the nicest of all his fellow classmates.
Voice Actor: Kyle Sturdivant, Aaron Krohn, Greg Ayres

Toji Suzuhara: Age 14. Toji is a classmate of the EVA pilots, and is also a frind of Kensuke Aida and Shinji Ikari. His sister is injured in the angel attack by Sachiel, the Angel that attacks Tokyo-3 in the first episode. Ever since then, he has visited her in the hospital. Both of his parents work in the research facility of NERV. He has a very hot-blooded personality, and at first does not get along with Shinji Ikari, because he was piloting the EVA Unit that fought Sachiel's attack. Eventually, however, he warms up to Shinji and is able to give Shinji some measure of companionship in the series.
Voice Actor: Joe Pisano, Brett Weaver, Michael O'Connor

Even if they've never done anime, or any kind of dubbing, even once? Vicious makes the rules, but I don't like it. Even if it would let me take, say, Billy West or Maurice LeMarche. Those people are as enjoyed and idolized by some of us here as the regular anime actors, but they're just not the focus of the English Track.

The original rule from the first draft is what I put in the rules here, basically that anyone that has appeared in an anime dub, no matter how small a part, is eligible. That means all the actors involved in Disney Ghibli dubs, and even those in the dubbed segments of the Animatrix. Nosredna took Mark Hamil last time, for instance. That's a surprisingly wide field right there. It means someone can take Tara "Raven" Strong (http://www.crystalacids.com/database/actor/strong_tara.html), if they want.

I honestly don't care one way or the other. Because the way I see it, even if they've only done GIJoe, that still makes them a voice actor. And for the purpose of this contest, it will put them at a disadvantage, because the judges will look at it and say 'they're not a real VA because they've never done anime, so I'm not going to vote for them'. So it all evens out as far as I'm concerned. Does anyone else care one way or the other?

This also opens up the door for videogame VAs as well. Though most crossover with the American cartoon VAs, but not all. Though the thought of Maurice LeMarche playing Gendo using his Morbo the alien newscaster from Futurama voice is interesting.

[/ QUOTE ]

I honestly don't care one way or the other. Because the way I see it, even if they've only done GIJoe, that still makes them a voice actor. And for the purpose of this contest, it will put them at a disadvantage, because the judges will look at it and say 'they're not a real VA because they've never done anime, so I'm not going to vote for them'. So it all evens out as far as I'm concerned. Does anyone else care one way or the other?

Since the only people who voiced their opinions want to leave it as stated in last years rules, that is what it shall be for this draft. Sorry BenP.

This totally ruins my chance to draft James Earl Jones. And I've always wanted to draft James Earl Jones. I mean how can a team with him on it lose?

Aw, I didn't get a chance to say I like the idea of being able to draft anyone who's done voiceover work (even if it does seem to be counter to the idea of an anime VA draft. I just like the idea of William Shatner being eligible. (Star Trek: The Animated Series, anyone?)

Although now that I think about it, Vicious did say "voiceover." If it's American animation, then the voice work is done first, so it's not voiceover work. It's only voiceover if the animation is produced first, right?

To make things easy, the DVD has to be listed on AoD under Chris' review or TRSI has to carry it. Unless it's OOP or something of course. That is the easiest way to decide this so there are no discrepancies on what is anime and what is not.

I think for the other one, 6 months from now where you draft first and the series is announced afterwards, we'll be a bit more lax with the rules. But for this one, we'll stick to being conservative.

It was open in the last draft but I don't think anyone actually made a transaction. Subsequently, we forgot to talk about it this time around.

But should it be allowed, both during the draft and shortly afterward (before casts are submitted)?

As for something for next draft, since it should be something outlined before drafting begins: what about an idea of allowing free agent pickups after the draft, again before the submission round? Drop anyone you have on your roster to grab someone everyone else overlooked? Your dropped VA would of course become a free agent, (though for those dropped to make room for an unrestricted free agent, a sort of randomly chosen waiver order might be required.) Allow maybe a period of only 48 hours for people to enjoy the option. May be more trouble than its worth and few may even take advantage. Anyway, it's an idea for the Spring draft.

Well, I actually asked about trades the other night on the chat. Most people seemed against it. If we were to allow trades, I don't think I'd want to allow them after the picks have been made. I do like the idea of being able to trade picks and spots before the actual draft. But like I said, almost everyone else was against it, so no trades for now.

Free agents gets complicated too, because then you have to sit there and figure out what order to do them in i.e. who gets priority. So that's not gonna happen for now either unless enough people want it.

Yeah. Like I said it's not something I'd even care to see until next draft, but the waiver priority order is the stumbling block. It's not like in a fantasy sports situation where you can rank according to record. It'd have to be random like the initial draft order, and people never like that.

It might be more appropriate for a future draft type where we draft actors early in the year and the actual contest is to carry the team through a six month period or so, competing against each other based on lead roles, awards, popularity, etc. That would be really fun and interesting if there was a way to set it up...

Mr. Nail Bat
09-24-2005, 02:45 PM
You know, there's a possible future change that could be made to the draft to make it more like a typical "Fantasy Sports" draft.

The players would choose their team of VA's. Then they would be scored on how many votes their VA's received in future "VA of the Month" votes.

In order to prevent this from tainting VA of the Month voting, then a player in the draft who votes for one of his own VA's for VA of the Month would not have those votes carried over to his VA draft scoring. For instance, if I drafted Lisa Ortiz, and I voted for her for VA of the Month, my votes would not count toward my VA Draft point total, but everyone else's would.

This would add a new level of strategy to the game, as well as a hefty dose of pure chance.

That would make for a fun strategic game to introduce to kick off 2006. I'd be more than happy to help track stats for such a competition, although I'd strike myself from competing if those were the conditions.

That being said, I'm sure there'd be more interest in draft order for such a contest than a random 'drawing of a name' out of a hat. Everyone's going to want to nab Luci Christian &amp; Chris Patton. And perennially overlooked markets come award time (ie. Vancouver) would unfortunately get the short end of the stick even more so in that instance.

I'm admittedly a little hesitant about letting fantasy games potentially influence award votes. Just because participants votes for their own drafted VAs wouldn't count towards their totals, they could still be inclined NOT to vote for what they feel is honestly the best performance if they happen to be on their top competition's team.

That also wouldn't stop two people from making side deals along the lines of "hey, we'll give our 2nd and 3rd place votes to each other's team lineup to boost our point totals after we pick our favorites".

Good points, both. Perhaps the most fair thing, then, would be to not count draft participants votes at all in the draft score (they would still, of course, be allowed to vote for the awards.)

I was wondering when someone was finally going to ask about what happens afterwards.

Basically, since the draft should finish by tomm morning - we'll get until say Sunday afternoon to announce our cast lineups in a thread I create. All of us except Brad. He gets until Friday night because knowing him he is going to wait until the last minute because he thinks there is some strategy in hiding what he's going to do. Brad - you seriously overthink things that don't need to be.

Then, Sunday night I will create 4 separate polls. There will be 4 groupings with 4 teams in each. There will be Group A, B, C, and D. These polls will run for 1 week and the winners will be unveiled during VoxBox the following week. The winner of each Group will move on to the final round, where they will all be placed into 1 final group. This poll will run for 1 week and the one with the most votes will be the winner of this VA Draft.

The reason I chose groups of 4 is because anything bigger will make it hard for voters to keep track of whose on whose team and anything smaller will take way too long for the entire process.

So everyone will just announce their cast at any time between the last pick being made (and the thread being created) and Sunday Night.

The polls, each pool will have four players with their casts competing against each other. For the voting, will people vote for entire cast vs. entire cast or pick their favorite VA for each role with the person with the most wins for each of the ten individual characters within the pool advancing to the next round.

It would have to be random in order for this match to happen in the first round because either the grouping like EB mentioned or a standard tournament bracket (1 vs. 16 ...) would have Vicious, Wabbit, and B-Rad each in separate brackets with only a 25% chance of avoiding one of these three in the first round.

Bah, who wants to go up against 'weak' teams and win? The best way to test one's casting mettle is to put your team up against the best of the best and persevere. Going up against you and Rabbitt would be like getting a free pass to the finals. And who wants that? /images/graemlins/devil.gif

Based on how the draft went down, some teams I'd very much entertain the prospect of pitting my squad against include...

bctaris - Especially after being damned by him so often during the draft for snatching away his prime candidates, it would be fun to see if his substitutions ultimately prove to be well-received.

Analyzing his cast, we've got a clear Gendo in JB Blanc and an Asuka in Melissa Fahn. Peter Marinker has already been disclosed as his Fuyutsuki. His two British dudes would complement my Keel quite well... especially if we were doing an EVA-R.O.D The TV crossover and NERV had been taken over by the British Library. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Tony Oliver is Shinji... which leaves Dave Mallow to voice Kaji. That leaves Kari, Deb, Jocelyne, Carol and Pamela to cover Rei, Misato, Ritsuko, Pen Pen and an optional character. Kari &amp; Deb, in particular, are so darn versatile they could be used just about anywhere. If I was going to cast 'em, I'd have Kari as Ritsuko, Deb as Rei, Carol as Misato, Jocelyne as Pen Pen and Pam as Maya... but bctaris has some flexibility. I know I'd really get a kick out of squaring off against him.

Who else have I got my eye on?

Huntressfan - Hfan's got a great ensemble of talent. From a really compelling use of JYB's younger range as Shinji to fiendishly evil Mike Kleinhenz as his dad... to Rachael Lillis tapping into her Yuriko Star roots for Misato to Daphne Gere as a natural and criminally overlooked choice for Rei... to a fiery Dorothy Melendrez as Asuka to Jane Alan as a sultry Ritsuko... from Travis Willingham as a born Kaji to Richard Epcar as a brilliant Fuyutsuki. His cast is A-List across the board... he even has Tiffany returning to EVA to voice a critter. What's not to love? A great draft across the board that has few question mark picks.

Porkchopexpress - Featuring the only other VA I considered worthy of Asuka behind Caitlin in Jennifer Sekiguchi... and the surprise grab of the uber-talented Rachel Rivera... the Chop has kept me dazzled through the past two weeks with some inventive picks. Yuri's one of the few male VAs not named Kevin Corn who could voice Shinji and not sound forced or 'too young' in the process. You've got Sam breaking out his Yoshi delivery for Gendo and Beau sounding rugged as Fuyutsuki. Kaeko's obviously voicing the critter... leaving Billy and Doug to fight it out for Kaji and 'probably' Kensuke.

What really has me intrigued is the Chop's use of Rachel? While a bunch of us wanted her to pad our lineups as a token Hikari in the late rounds, he saw potential in her as a lead. She's looking like his choice for Rei right now which has really got me entertaining some wild possibilities. Amanda can't voice Rei, so I'm leaning towards her tackling Misato and Tricia as Ritsuko. Some downright clever casting that seems pretty solid across the board.

So if I was calling out my challengers and looking to stack my team up against 'em... those would be the three. But by all means, feel free to slot me wherever. My EVA cast is ready to take on all comers! /images/graemlins/cool.gif

Not only do you have a Hilary that nobody wanted but you've got a porn star with minimal hentai experience to boot. I think Shelley could school Asia fierce in a vocal moaning gymnastics competition if they were ever forced to match skills with one another. For your sake, I just hope people remember what Barbara Goodson sounds like when she's not voicing a creepy old woman... believe me, I'm having trouble with it.

But that is precisely the point I was making to BenP earlier - that if your team is good enough, it should beat anybody.

[/ QUOTE ]
So when are you unleashing that team disclosure thread? I wanna officially announce my cast ASAP so I can start my campaigning.

And believe me, all I want to do is beat Vicious. As long as I wreck him, I don't even need to make it past the first round. /images/graemlins/devil.gif

Hahaha. I knew Wabbit wouldn't have a problem being in the same bracket as me.

Brad should be buying Wabbit a drink for saving him from facing me this first round.

I don't care if I finish next to last in the bracket, as long as you're last. /images/graemlins/devil.gif

You have no idea how bad you're gonna get beat. There is no way you can beat my lineup. Aside from Rei Ayanami, I have you beat at every other position.

You know, I don't think a mere VA draft will be able to settle this feud. Perhaps some sort of anime themed "Yo Momma so fat" contest. For example - Yo Momma soooooooo fat, she can watch region 1 and region 2, at the same time! Or - Yo Momma sooooooo fat, if Alucard sucked her blood, he'd get diabetes.

How about:

Yo momma so fat, she saw a yellow bus full of white kids and said, "STOP THAT TWINKIE!"

Yo momma so fat, when she walks around in Texas in high heels, she strikes oil!

Yo momma so fat, she went on a date with high heels on and came back with sandals!

Yo momma so fat, the National Weather Agency has to assign names to her farts!
