Hey all. It's been a little quiet on the Burst Angel and Samurai 7 fronts, so I thought I'd announce some recent and upcoming cast additions.
Appearing in Volume 3 of BA (available now):
Michael Sinterniklass as Jay
Mike McFarland as Leo
Caitlin Glass as Takane
Christopher R. Sabat as Iriki
Kyle Hebert as Masa-yan
And coming up in Volume 4, you can look forward to an appearance by Aaron Dismuke. Volume 5 introduces Colleen Clinkenbeard as the villainous Maria, and includes a "very special Kyohei episode" featuring Chris Patton and Johnny Yong Bosch. That's right, swooning fangirls: Ayres, Patton and Bosch... All in ONE episode!
On the Sam7 side of things...
Volume 2 introduces the previously-announced Greg Ayres as Heihachi, as well as:
Gwendolyn Lau as Yukino
Carrie Savage as Honoka
In Volume 3 we finally meet some Bandits...
Michael Sinterniklaas as Sobei
Brett Weaver as Syusai
Sean Schemmel as Genzo
...as well as some new villagers...
Andy Mullins as Gonzo
John Burgmeier as Kanzo
Monica Rial as Shino
Zarah Little as Okara
All that, and Volumes 4-7 will have a few more surprises...
I'm extremely proud of the incredible work all of these talented actors and actresses have contributed to both of these shows... So check 'em out!

I see some of the new FUNi cats have begun to come out of the bag. One can't go wrong seeing the likes of JYB, Carrie Savage and Zarah Little appear in these FUNi dubs... and perhaps others... alongside the best Texas has to offer. /images/graemlins/wink.gif
Sounds sweet, Chris. Keep up the great work! I just wrapped up Spiral and took in the first disc of Samurai 7 this week. Can't wait to hear more!

Thanks for the kind words, man. Spiral seems like so long ago (we finished recording it a year ago), I'm glad you liked it. As for Sam7, I promise the best is yet to come!

So, what are you doing, travelling around the country and recording VAs wherever you are? Sean Schemmel, Michael Sinterniklaas, Carrie Savage, and Zarah Little? Who's a Funi VA these days? Everyone.
I'm actually seething with jealousy that you're able to get so many great VAs together for your shows. Having Carrie Savage, Monica Rial and Zarah Little all in one show is like the Twilight Zone of anime. I've just changed my mind about Samurai 7. I'm going to start picking it up. My wallet blames you and your brilliant casting.
I'm already getting Burst Angel, and I'm not disappointed in it at all. That show is just a whole bunch of fun. Loved the Osaka episode. It was great to hear Caitlin, Chris and Kyle sporting their best Texas drawls.

I'm sold on practically anything with Johnny Yong Bosch in it.

Yes! So excited to see Colleen play a baddie! And Johnny Yong Bosch made his way from California to dub a part in Burst Angel?! Hot Damn. I'm loving the special guest stars!

It's a great show if you don't take it seriously. I like to look at it as a campy oversexed Bubblegum Crisis ^_^

question about the credits in 7S... is the name Luci Christian a typo or the offical spelling that Funi needs to use?
I know sometimes an actor needs to use a different name just cause the name they use is associated with someone else... ie how the credit for the male lead in Blue Gender changed... Eric Vale (I think I havent seen this show since I completed it).

Last time I checked, that's how she was credited at ADV too... and Luci is so good as Komachi. I love the scenes of her and Kikuchiyo ^_^

With all these California voice actors appearing in upcoming Funi dubs, it seems like Funi is getting ready for the possible license of Negima.

I did notice these. Great work all around, guys. You know, I've recently begun to think that the true test of an actor's ability to entertain is demonstrated through the extended use of the Tex...Kansai accent.

Time for another round of cast updates:
You heard them in the shadows near the end of Volume 5, but the true masterminds come to the fore in the final disc of Burst Angel:
The mysterious "Professor" - John Swasey (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=2525)
And President Glenford - Jerry Russell
No major cast additions for Volume 4 of Samurai 7, but plenty of major plot developments as the war against the Bandits gets into full swing. But be on the lookout for a whole slew of new characters in Volume 5, including:
Prime Minister - Bill Flynn (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=22583)
Sanae (Rikichi's wife) - Clarine Harp (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=20345)
Mizuki (Honoka's sister) - Laura Bailey (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=1389)
Bandit Leader Tanomo - Scott McNeil (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=746)
And the Emperor... Well, that would be spoiling...

Sweet, Burst Angel has the best cast in's by far and putting John Swasey in the final adds the final toppings to a great show with a superb English Dub.
What else has Jerry Russel voiced in by any chance?

Thanks for the props on the cast and dub so far. I know everyone involved had lots of fun working on it, and it's a huge compliment to all of us when there's a positive response from the fans.
As far as Jerry Russell, he's played numerous walla and other smaller roles over the past year or so in several shows. One place I know you can hear him is in Volume 1 of Samurai 7, where he plays one of Ukyo and Tessai's goons. He's the one who looks like Terry Bradshaw with a Geordi/Cyclops visor who knocks out Katsushiro... Remember his face, because when "Visor" makes a comeback in later episodes, Katsushiro might want a rematch...

Thanks for the heads up, and your welcome! I'm definately gonna re-check my copy of Samurai 7 vol. 1 for Jerry before I hit the hay.
Even when Burst Angel ends, there's still the movie right after it. I wonder what suprises await in that one. There's alot to look forward to. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Ahhh, in disc 3, I was starting to wonder if she was going to show up (the kimono and rice bowl in Rikichi's house, sort of tipped me off), so I am excited. And even more excited that Clarine is voicing her. :o

I've been loving Burst Angel since it came out, but I sort of passed on Samurai 7 at first. But then I broke down and bought all three volumes that were out and watched it. I fell in love with it. What an exceptional show. I even showed it to a friend of mine who is living in Japan teaching English. He came home for the holidays, so we watched the first volume. He's not normally a fan of English dubbing, but he really liked what he heard from the Funi cast. He loved the show as well. It's a winner in every sense of the word.
