FYI: VIZ's Monster has Editor's Choice imprint

There was a lot of discussion a while back about what imprint Monster should get, and I believe it was determined somewhere before that it was Action. Looking at the review copy, the proof page does say that the imprint is Editor's Choice. Just thought you'd all like to know. I'll get the review in ASAP (so far it's excellent!!).

Very, very nice. Hopefully, whenever they get to it, 20CB gets the Editor's Choice line too, because, IIRC, the cover that was shown had the action label on it. Editor's Choice seems to get the best treatment of thier lines. Eagarly anticipating this release, although I HAVE read all the volumes multiple times, still a favorite.

Okay, can you just give me a hint as to how the proof copy looks? Is this going to be treated well?

Oh, I'll have the text review done very soon and it will get posted promptly here. The audio for Ed's MangaCast will come later. It's hard to judge the print reproduction on a galley proof copy because it's very rough, like looking at a copy machine print and it's not the final version. It's more about judging the content and getting out the buzz early.

That said, I'm a big Urasawa fan, and so far I'm pretty damn happy with it.

Actually, I think it's a smart move on their part - it enables them to shape advertising campaigns and get new, lesser-known titles into bootstores and consumer radars by connecting them with more established titles. I wish Tokyopop would do something similar (and change the giant robofish logo to coordinate with the spine color as well).

Overstock is now saying November and Amazon now lists December 31 for a release date.

It's still listed as Oct 4th on the review copy I received. But that date is not final.

According to Right Stuf Monster has been pushed back to Feb 21 2006.
