Memorable scenes

My friend and I are going to be doing a presentation on English dubs at the club we attend, and we decided to show several clips from various shows. The only problem is that only a few jump out right away, so I ask you guys for some assistance. I'm just looking for scenes that, at the very least, would open their eyes just a little bit to what's out there. Thanks in advance.

At the moment, we have thought of showing the hospital scene from Princess Nine, something from Chrono Crusade, Super Gals, and probably Golden Boy(since it was shown in English at the club already).

For Chrono Crusade, the scene in the first volume where <span style='color:#dddddd;background:#dddddd'> Chrono loses it </span> is the one to spring to mind first.

And if you're going to show a dub clip from Chrno Crusade, show when Joshua gets his horns. I've turned many a subbie to the dub side with that clip alone.

Any scene were Sousuke acts like a complete idiot (ie. most of the show) from the first 3 volumes should be ideal.

Anothe example would be Nishi's killer rant in Gantz... which, I believe, can be found in Volume 5.

Hell, just take anything Patton's done in 2005. It's all gold. /images/graemlins/cool.gif

Ooooo - the scene with Chris Ayres' "loser biatch" line might be a good pick, then - great work from both Chris Patton and Chris Ayres there, and some fun Luci Kaname lines, too.

Pretty much everything in Golden Boy is a memorable scene. Especially in the english-dubbed version.

But if you must show a clib, use either Kentaro's reaction to the high-school girl going commando on him, or the scene where the girl went orgasmic with her bike. /images/graemlins/devil.gif /images/graemlins/cool.gif

Thanks for the suggestions so far, a good selection of comedic scenes. I talked to my friend and we decided to show some examples of bad dubs, in order to show the difference of quality. And we thought of possibly showing something from Rahxephon and GitS: SAC, to provide some more dramatic scenes. Any suggestions for those shows or other non-comedic scenes? I personally thought something from the episode 'Jungle Cruise' of SAC would be a good choice, and if I can get my hands on it, the rant by Nishi in vol.5 will likely be shown. Thanks once again for your input.

If you have Utena, then I'd suggest the scene when Shiori rides the elevator in the Black Rose saga. It's a powerful, moving performance from Lisa Ortiz. I'd also suggest a scene with Rachael Lillis as Utena near the end of the series where you only see her face as she talks about what to make for lunch the next day <span style='color:#dddddd;background:#dddddd'>but she's actually having sex with Akio.</span> That was a very memorable scene, and one of the all time great performances by Rachael.

While we've made a stop in New York, how about any one of the intimate scenes between Veronica Taylor (Yukino) and Christopher Nicholas (Arima) in His and Her Circumstances? I suppose the first major one where he chases her down. A lot of this stuff in dubs, even when I like it, can be overtly melodramatic, but this certain melodrama was pulled off as smooth and convincing as you can get.

How about the scene in the last episode of Haibane Renmei, when Rakka finds Reki in the room she'd painted? Sent chills down my spine...

In Trigun, there's the scene with Vash and Legato on the top of a plateau <span style='color:#dddddd;background:#dddddd'> and a choice is forced from the humanoid typhoon</span> that's pretty memorable for me dub-wise. Oh, and that scene in episode 5 or so of Battle Athletes Victory between Ichino &amp; Akari. Classic.

I always liked Griffith's speech to the princess in Berserk in episode 10 (?)

So many scenes, so little mindspace to work with /images/graemlins/tongue.gif
