Mere words can not do justice to how good this dub is getting.
I'd concoct a rap to express my appreciation and praise... but it's probably better that I don't. /images/graemlins/sweat000.gif
Anyhow, for those of you who were just planning on buying one disc to check out Laura's Sana... or who may have been avoiding this outright.

I won't be able to get this one until later this month (unfortunately), but definitely looking foward to hearing more of this dub.

One measly response? How shameful. Nobody watches dubs anymore unless they get them for free. /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif
Anyhow, I've added some more clips to the top of the thread featuring more highlights from one killer 2nd disc. Those of you who were frazzled by scripting in Volume 1 will be happy to know that Burgmeier pens this entire volume. Enjoy!

I haven't picked it up yet. Give me a couple days first.

I would have replied already, but I don't have the disc yet. This whole school thing is messing up my whole system on how I purchase things. Once I figure out my financial situation, Kodocha will be mine.

Thanks for the info. That's exactly what I was going to ask about. The toned down script of the 1st 3 eps was aggravating, but the acting was great.
I've never seen the show, so I can't wait for this to come in.

I'm still waiting for my copy to ship - this is one of the few titles I'm buying as each disc comes out.

This one's my favorite. Hayama calls Rei a child molester.
I still haven't gotten the DVDs (I'm not working currently) but at least B-Rad gives us these great clips. The FUNimation talent is really giving their all in this dub. Laura continues to be amazing as Sana. I love that beat she raps to. You know, I wouldn't be surprised if Laura has a track of that beat that she makes custom Sana raps to. Heh, she should release a CD single - Laura Bailey Raps: The Best of the FUNi Voice Actress (with proper permission from the Japanese studio to use the beat, of course).

I've been thinking about asking for a copy myself, for purely non-professional purposes. With a little of Laura's help, I could cook up a sweet ringtone for my phone, or something. Just have to do it behind everyone's backs. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Do you know if your translations are finally being translated into the dub by ONE person per series? Ex: Kodocha is Jon B. since ep. 4.

Isn't Mike McFarland doing ADR Script on some episodes in the future? I know I've heard that somewhere before...

I've always liked Burgmeier's scriptwriting, since you've singled him out, and thought that the two of us make a good team. I can't answer your question though, since I don't know who's writing what. My hunch is that on a series as dialogue-heavy as Kodocha is, you'd need more than one writer working on it just to stay on schedule (especially when they have to spend time in the recording booth, as well). Sorry I can't say for sure.

Yes, I am one of the writers on this series. But my first one isn't until epsiode 9. After that, they starting popping up more often.

Do you know what happened to the whole having one head writer for a whole series then assistant writers?
I know it might be picky, but changing writers is confusing and the script DOES change, because some, like you and jon, care about making the script as close as possible but some dont. So I just wish there would be one or two writers per show(both in every episode), kind of like FMA.
Same with directing

For what it's worth, I'm not going to be highly critical of Kodocha's writing at this juncture. If we've got John and Mike switching off in tandem for the majority of the time from Episode 4 and onwards I'll be happy. By comparison, Marmalade Boy juggled four writers constantly for its entire 76-episode run and the show suffered some logic gaps, rewritten flashback scenes and some sketchy quality as a result. None of which we've seen from Kodocha as yet. I'm willing to trust FUNi to do a good job here.
And on the bright side, this is still a far cry from inexplicably employing four directors to tackle Gunslinger Girl.

Wasnt it just Chris Sabat for eps 1-2, Eric Vale for episodes 3-5, and Laura Bailey onwards?
Also, who did the script for the last disc? or more than 1?

Chris Bevins directed some of the final two episodes back at the primary FUNi studio in Fort Worth.
As for your scripting question, I'll defer to someone who owns the series.

I watched the first two eps of the disc last night. The energy continues to go strong, especially with Laura as Sana Kurata. I liked the Sana and Tsuyoshi scene that you have as the clip: <span style='color:#dddddd;background:#dddddd'> "Why'd you run away? What do I look like a psycho?"</span>
Funny thing is at the same time I have rented Fruits Basket, since so many people have been talking about it. I had only heard Laura Bailey previously as Alv in Kiddy Grade, Lust in FMA, and Henrietta in Gunslinger Girl. I definitely like what I've heard so far in both Kodocha and Fruits Basket. A nice variety of characters and personalities.
Everyone continues to give an awesome performance, and we get to meet Luci's character in this volume too.
I recently showed volume 1 to a friend who asked a little bit about anime, since she's never watched any, and now she's hooked on the show. One good way to get someone started on anime.
And to add to B-Rad's beginning post, like he says, you must buy more Kodocha. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Asako the closest that Luci comes to using her natural voice?

Finally got and watched this volume today. All the doubts I had about volume 1 were totally erased. Magnificently dubbed, a great job by all and sundry.

I finally got to watch this last night - there are not words to describe exactly how good it is. Jaw-droppingly good, almost flawless, a wonder and a delight, one of the finest examples of English-language dubbing since, well, ever...I could go on. And on. The show that everyone said Could Not Be Dubbed is rocking my world.

Oohh... that's cool. Just ordered this night before last, though it's going to be a little while before I get it (since it's in with my order for the Loki Ragnarok box). Can't wait to check it out.

I only give congrats on award wins in advance when they're a slam dunk. And amazingly enough, despite schooling the competition in August, you managed to outdo yourself in Volume 2 as both an actor and a director. As Mike McFarland would say, "Laura and Colleen's Dub RULES!"
To reinforce this fact, I've gotta post the brilliant 'stupid song' clip once again. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Hope you guys are enjoying Marmalade Boy!
And speaking of awesome shoujo, don't forget to bring Caitlin's His & Her Circumstances to Vegas for autograph booty.
