Make your own dub with this VA region: Texas

Yep this time this is for good ol' Texas. This can be for a VA list for any Anime/Video Game dub. You can't pick ANY VA ever but it is flexible.

1. Feel free to intermix FUNi voice talent with ADV voice talent.

2. Its okay to add in folks that occasionally worked with FUNi's in-house studio such as Lisa Ortiz and the like.

3. For any dub with Ocean VA talent you can mike IDS&M voice talent on it. For any dub with IDS&M you can mix Ocean VA's with it.

At first i had Mandy Clark as Sumire, but decided Tiffany would do better and moved Mandy to Kanna. My original Oghami was gonna be Chris Patton but i thought it over and decided that while Chris's performance as Sousake Sagara from FMP showed he could be a military character well, i needed someone who could show Oghami's inexperience in his new position. I decided to go with Eric Vale since I thought he could give the character both confidence and lack of experience. Maria was a pain to cast since i had no idea who else besides the original Sakura Wars Maria had done an anime character with a Russian accent. I went with Christine Auten since i liked her performance of Priss in BGC 2040.

Anyway i think it's a good dub cast. It was fun to put together but hard since i honestly haven't seen most of what's out there for dubs and thus my library of voices as it were is pretty limited. I have new appreciation for the guys who do the VA Draft

Anothe good one i thought off. Take the cast of Samurai Champloo and replace it with the cast of Fruits Basket. Heck it's allmost a 1:1 match.

[/ QUOTE ] seems more like a role i would pick Andy Mcavin for. from wehat i've seen from Volume 9 of the manga, Kakeru has a bit of a wild streak that i think would fit Mr Mcavin quite well.
The real fun becomes when you try to figure out <span style='color:#dddddd;background:#dddddd'>who do you cast as Akito if they decide to keep with the manga and make him into her. The first series was 26 episodes and covered around 8 volumes of manga, taking into account some cut material, such as the red hat subplot and the character of Mayuko Shiraki in her entirety. So if we use that as our baseline, we can figure the next series, if it's 26 episodes, will spill all the way to volume 16. I think by that point we've reached Chapter 97. So assumeing they decide to make the change, you need a good female Va for the role. This may sound nuts but i actually think they should get Laura Bailey to do it. The reaosn i say this is because it fits well with my belife that the wholpe stroy of Fruba is a metaphor for Hope vs Despair. I wrote up this theroy in another Fryba thread back in GA. Essaentially Tohru representes hope, the hope of being free and being accepted as people and not shunned. She accepts the Shomas for who they are and that in turn helps to heal thier hearts and amke them want to leave the world of The Banquet. Akito is Despair, the voice that says without a doubt that defeat is inevitable. "He" wants to keep the Junisshi close by to him, and keep them locked up in the cage of the Main House. I think that having the same VA for both Tohru and Female Akito would be perfect symmetry. </span>

Regarding Manabe... I don't think McAvin can be convincing as a teenager. And has he ever done a Funimation dub?

Do you mean the Japanese or English VA? The English VA is Chad Cline, a name i'm not familiar with. It's been a bit since i've seen the show, but i don't recall anything <span style='color:#dddddd;background:#dddddd'>feminine or androgynous</span> about his performance. I didn't listen to much of the Japanese so maybe it's different on that track

Well, he plays a teenager in Cromartie High School. And as for the whole doing a Funi dub, it seems that this whole ADV doing Funi dubs thing is fairly recent. Were Monica and Luci and Chris working on Non-ADV shows more than a couple years ago? I would wager that it was Fullmetal Alchemist that got the ball rolling on the whole "ADV and Funi mergeing" joke.

I know you're excited about fantasy casting and all, but I can't help but think that some worthy 'Track discussion threads are getting buried before their time every few days when you go on a bumpfest. I've got my 'threads per page' setting cranked but the default for AOD is 10. Bump 5 fantasy casting threads and factor in the threads tacked onto the top of the forum and, all of a sudden, a good number of discussions vanish from people's screens before they realize they've even happened.

Any chance we can consolidate the fantasy casting discussion into a single thread? I know that if I had region-specific award threads running every month I'd get yelled at. And we've seemingly moved into a 'region-free' VA zone era thanks in large part to FUNi's soliciting the great voice talent from all parts of North America for some of their recent high-profile titles.

Yes, this is starting to get a little ridiculous. I was trying to be tolerant of it at first, but it seems like they're all getting bumped by pokejedservo. I'm going to shut down all of them except the North American talent one. Let's keep all the fantasy casting threads consolidated to one thread in the future.
