Just some various seemingly new series with Tokyopop as the publisher that have just shown up on Amazon! As always, some of these may be old news (tho I try my best), or may not belong in the manga forum, nor should these be considered definite licenses until officially announced.
Karin (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1598163221/002-1088101-9036845?v=glance&n=283155&s=books&v=glance)
Magical X Miracle (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1598163280/002-1088101-9036845?v=glance&n=283155&s=books&v=glance)
Shout Out Loud! (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1598163167/002-1088101-9036845?v=glance&n=283155&s=books&v=glance)
Spring (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1598163094/002-1088101-9036845?v=glance&n=283155&s=books&v=glance)
X-Kai (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1598163736/002-1088101-9036845?v=glance&n=283155&s=books&v=glance)

I'll be googling for info on these momentarily, but please add any info you might have. /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

The only one that I could find in ANN's encyclopedia was Karin (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/manga.php?id=5431).

Sounds interesting.

Hmmm for some reason Kin.. something ....... has these up as well? How weird.. I mean the english versions...

Hmmm x-kai by asami tohjoh.. isn't she a yaoi mangaka?

Ah hah.

Description
It's about the encounters of a man who is florist by day and assassin by night. He grew up in an orphanage that trains some of its children to be assassins. Although he had been trained to kill heartlessly, he kills only the wicked and spares the innocent. He doesn't enjoy killing, but rather does it to earn money to pay for medical treatments for his "brother," who is actually an older member of the organization who had trained him.

well according to the site where I got it from, shonen ai... sounds like uh.. Weiss Kreuz plus some other yaoi series that I don't remember the name of..... and I can't link directly because well, you know. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Whoa... another shonen ai title!!

I'm pretty sure that shout it out loud is Sakendeyaruze! ... it roughly fits and the mangaka is the same.

This manga is about voice actors and shonen ai galore. Well, I totally dont' remember the names and am sooo descriptive...

Well, then, meanies, click here (http://www.strangequark.nu/random/sakendeyaruze.html)

And that Miracle one seems to be actually a Korean title. Korean sites pop up when I search for it....

Nope, MagicalxMiracle is a Japanese title... it's running in Zero-Sum (same magazine as LOVELESS, etc.)

Hahahh shows how much I know..... /images/graemlins/sweat200.gif But you would think the name would still sway me more than some random sites.

Any clue to what it is about?

Yeah, I read the first volume. It's about a young girl who is about to begin witchcraft school, when she is kidnapped by retainers of the head wizard of the kingdom, as that head wizard is just a little boy, and the girl looks exactly the same. So while the retainers are looking for the boy, this common girl has to play the part of the boy, even though she knows nothing about magic yet.

The art is simple but pretty enough. Story was OK, not exactly my cup of tea but if you enjoy lighter stuff, maybe you'd like it?

I'd be pretty much blown away if someone liscensed and released Karin; I'd been reading it for a while now and I really enjoyed it. I'd have to pick it up if when it comes out.

I would be happy if it were a studio that actually had good editing. I have a lot of TokyoPop manga, and sadly their editing is so goddamn lacking it's scary to think what they'll do to Karin. I KNOW how much it takes too make it look good, so I'm hoping that they bring in someone that's better at editing than their usual staff -_- I'm sure as hell not going to buy it since I would only compare it to what I did. Sorry TP, but you won't get my hard earned money this time.

Shout out Loud? As in Sakende Yaruze!? I'm so HAPPY!!! I love this series! It's a shame the series is only five volumes long, though. I read the first two volumes awhile ago and I've been hoping for this to be licensed ever since then. HAPPINESS!!!! *runs off like she's insane*

You know, if you've got specific issues that you want addressed for the title, you can voice them here, rather than just being negative. A lot of our editors do in fact read these forums, and would be happy to keep an eye out for certain things. We may not be a perfect company, but we're always looking to improve, and fans often initially know more of the useful details about new series than we do.

What I mean to say was this:
I have a big number of mangas published by TokyoPop. However, I've noticed many faults when it comes to replacing text placed over artwork. And Karin has a lot of those, therefore my quite harsh inital reaction. I've heard about certain discrepancies in other titles (such as Kare Kano) and I therefore voiced my distress. I know some of this stuff, both editing and translation, might be in the past but it still worries me. I'm happy to hear that your staff reads this forum, because I honestly hope, even after all I said, that you deliver us a manga with great translation and editing. And yes, I might buy, but I still feel that it'd be unfair to you since I don't have deadlines when I edit, giving me a better opportunity to pour my soul into the editing ;D

To clarify:
I do hope that your version lives up to the standard that I want, but I'll still have my doubts until I can look at it and verify that it is indeed worthy of my money. If you want to know what my standard is then I can offer to send a sample of what I mean.

Greenlily, I hope that my previous and this post only makes you and your people set to show me that I'm wrong, 'cause I sure hope you do ^_^

More titles will be on the way over the next few months. It'll pretty much stay with one or two books per month though, so as to at least theoretically avoid market glut and wallet drain.

Wallpapers, eh? Hmm. We had a question about fanart at Yaoi-con, but not wallpapers. Interesting...

That works - I admit that the current release schedule doesn't strain the budget or force me to make hard choices about the series I'm following, which is nice. I'd like to see Love Mode bimonthly instead of quarterly, but I can understand why you made that decision.

Looking over the release schedule, it looks like a nice blend of one-shots, short series, and Love Mode as the token "long" series (dealing with my faulty memory here - I may be mistaken). I like that - keeps the lineup fairly fresh.

I'm hoping the deluxe versions of Earthian do well, too, since that's something I'd love to see more of. I've got the first two volumes preordered, yay.

Oh yes - especially with the coverart from Wild Rock, and anything from Earthian, Shinobu Kokoro, and Gorgeous Carat.

Er, is this the first we've heard about for Man's Best Friend (http://www.blumanga.com/series_detail.php?series=mansbestfriend) ? /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif Well, I think it is at least for me.. Yay! June 06 is long way off..but I'll make do. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif **
