The last thread (http://forums.animeondvd.com/showflat.php?Number=1117867) had annoying blank pages so I'm starting this new one a bit early. /images/graemlins/happy.gif

Seems like there is another collaboration in the works and it is scheduled to hit Dec. 16th. to coincide with the release of Air Gear vol. 12. which is a comic done by Oh Great! A special edition of the 12th volume of the book is planned that will come with a Pinky St. Figure.
While it seems like a perfect fit, since the Tenten Pinky's seemed to have done so well,I'm surprised they waited for the last minute on this to announce it.
Pinky St.com (http://www.pinky-street.com) has a thread in the forums about it and there is also a post on rakuten (http://www.rakuten.co.jp/hoshinobk/421335/686352/) about it as well. (No images at the moment though and Pinky:loft doesn't seem to have a thread about it either yet.) Info is scarce at the moment though and from what I hear it will be Ringo who is made into Pinky form. The original announcement seems to have come from one of the Shounen Magazines (I'd assume from Shounen Magazine, where Air Gear is running) <last I checked...>
I'll update with any new info once I find some more about it.

Can you guys help me find a model for my brother? I was hoping to find him a Gundam (for a Christmas present) that will be a challenge for him to build. I don't ever buy models and have only purchased a couple of figures so I'm not really keen on which models to purchase; the better places to buy them; or what reasonable prices are.
So far he's bought some smaller ones...I think they're only about 8" tall or so. But he flies through them in a couple hours and is left with nothing to do. So I wanted to buy him something that might be more intricate and take a little more effort on his part to complete. Something that would be more of a project. I know they have different scales and grades but I don't know what exactly I'm looking for or where to start /images/graemlins/sweat000.gif. Perfect grade? Master grade? He isn't particular to any specific Gundam series to my knowledge, so hopefully that will make things easier.
I don't want to go nuts with money either. I'd like to shoot for $70-$100 range, but as I said, I know nothing about this or if that price range is reasonable, so I can be flexible depending on what is out there.
I hope this is appropriate to post here in this thread. Any advice is appreciated /images/graemlins/happy.gif.

A challenge you say? Go make him build the MasterGrade EX-S Gundam. Sure it is a big one, and very hard to do, but it will all be worth it once done. You can buy it for a good price from Gundamstoreandmore.com for $99.00 (S&H included).

I'm guessing your brother's a master now at the Master-Grade level of Gundam-kits and is now ready for the Perfect-Grade level.
Unfortunately, PG-kits are expensive and some of the awesome kits (like the GP01FB (http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN916409) ) are out-of-stock already. Here's a sample from HLJ:
http://www.hlj.com/hljlist2/?Dis=2&MacroType=PGrdGundam&GenreCode=Gun
Fwiw, you can suggest to your brother to paint and panel-line his MG-figures. That should add another hour or so, depending on your brother's painting-skills and paneling-skills.
Also, suggest to have him make a full diorama/scenery with some or all of his MG-figures.

The Air Gear Pinky has been "formally" (?) announced in Weekly Shounen Magazine. A page with an obvious Pinky St. style silhouette was present and in continuing weeks they will be releasing more info.
It is sounding more like an actual pack in deal unlike the Henrietta/Honda Tohru Pinky's but full details are still scarce.
I remember previous volumes of Tenten coming with limited figures and am hoping that this will be the same case here with the regular and limited edition each having a different ISBN and also not so hard to pre-order/track down.
Can anyone that picked up any of the Tenten figures that came with the manga confirm how those were handled? (ex: you just pre-ordered the book w/ figure vesion, or a figure store that actually carries book plus figure limited sets.)

Thanks for the help /images/graemlins/happy.gif. I checked out that site and they have some impressive looking sets. I think I found the one you were referring to and that definitely looks like something he'd enjoy. It looks like I'll have to drop $100 minimum to get the kind of model I was thinking of, which is still okay. I also saw a Gundam Wing one that I think he'd like for $165. I really want to bowl him over when he opens it so I want to get something really great. Oh, and just out of curiosity, how big exactly would a 1/100 scale model be? Or a 1/60?
Also, if you don't mind /images/graemlins/sweat000.gif, how is the service there? Like shipping speed, packaging, etc...Obviously I've never shopped there before so I just want to make sure it will be a pleasant and uneventful transaction before I drop hundreds of dollars there. Thanks again.

Thanks for the suggestions /images/graemlins/happy.gif. I don't know what or if he's mastered anything, but he certainly doesn't seem to be struggling at all with what he's doing. So I did look at some perfect grade sets. He hasn't done a lot of model building, but he's the kind of guy who would really love the challenge of a huge set with lots of parts and instructions he can't read, so they seem to be what I'm looking for.
I forgot to mention before that painting is definitely not his thing. He seems to just enjoy the construction process and then having a final piece to display. So prepainted is a must, as is snap together pieces. Although I don't think he'd be averse to some minor gluing if that is something that might have to be taken into account. I'll suggest the diorama thing to him as well. I hadn't thought of that.

IIRC..
1/100 is about 8", 1/60 is about 13"
I know my PG Wing Zero is slightly shorter then my Unicron (Transformers) figure

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'll ask anyway. HobbyGeneration (http://www.hobbygeneration.com) is an site that sells figures. It's an HK site, which already makes me wary, but the prices seem to be about right. I'm new to figure collecting, so any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

I have a random question about pre-ordering figures...
Especially for HLJ, but also for amazon.jp too.. (I've had some experience with both of them in the past)
Let's say I ordered some figures that come out 12/05 and some coming out in 1/06. Will they hold the ones from 12/05 for me? I've come across issues before where items aren't held and then sell out while I'm waiting for the later items in the batch.
Thanks in advance

Looking for a figure of Ichigo from Bleach for a friend. She claims
that she saw a figure of him in his new outfit (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y128/kymaera/ichigo_cap6.jpg)* up for preorder, but
forgot where. I don't recall ever seeing a figure of him in that suit,
though. Only thing that I can see coming up is the #2 trading figure
set which doesn't seem to have any pictures anywhere. Anyone have any
more info?

Or are you refering to this (http://site.mugentoys.com/images/previews/01-37806.jpg) ?

Except when they do. It's very strange - they say that they'll ship when your order is complete, or when things have been in-stock for 30 days, but I've had three different figures from the same order shipped out separately on three consecutive days. There's very little rhyme or reason to it that I've been able to determine.

I'm probably the only person who's interested in this, but Konami is releasing a set of Figumate figures for Gokujo Seitokai (http://www.gokujo.konami.jp/pc/products/figumate.php). Also, someone correct me, but doesn't that page list the release date as Feb 2006? Hobby Search (http://www.1999.co.jp/asp/GoodsDetails_e.asp?Bno=&Typ1_c=101&Typ2_c=102&Typ3 _c=106&SPage=3&SC=168&SN=Figure+%28Completed%29+Ot her+%28Completed%29&It_c=10046053&andor=0&scope=0& scope2=0&thumb=1&sortID=1&urikire=1&sort_sort=0&It Key=&app_url=shop_right_e.asp) lists it as June 2006. One of the best, if not the best Eva Plat extra is the feature on Mrs Greenfield's Asuka collectibles.
How many figures does she have, & are there any photos of them. I'd like to know her favourite ones as well.

nice, i really like the GxS collection after seeing it on the official site some weeks ago. Carmen99 is awesome as usual, other than her, i'm interested in priscilla as well. Fasalina better be next...she's too gooood.
X-Brand Mitsuki and Akane... /images/graemlins/noseblef.gif...so good. However, I'm on the verge of stopping my fig collecting (which these pics aren't helping), so it doesn't seem like any of these will be reaching my shelves.

Hmmm.. so is chara-ani only releasing the white one to general public or will the color version also make an apperance? Also it's a bit strange that Miharu was changed from 1/6th scale to 1/8th scale when given a wide release, but Hazuki is kept at 1/6th scale. Eh, whatever. I'm just glad that it's finally out on order.

From what I have been able to gather, this will indeed be a figure that comes with the book along the lines of the Tenten manga w/ figure sets. There is a separate ISBN and everything for the limited edition.
I haven't seen the figure pop up on amazon.co.jp yet and I'm not sure they will carry it as they ~have~ updated their site with the standard edition of Air Gear 12 but not the limited version. (Or at least not as of this post anyway)
I have placed an order through the Costa Mesa Kinokuniya Bookstore. I emailed them and they said they would be able to get it. Akadot also has stated they will be carrying the figure as well. those are the only two stores that have it confirmed as of now though.

Those do look like the same figures - at first I thought it was one of those awkward sets where you need both a gashapon series and a TF series to complete (*shakes fist at OneTwi figures*).
From what I gather, the more expensive one not only has more figures (three or four of them), but also has the scenery what makes up to desk et al, which the other version doesn't. This (http://www.hlj.com/product/MOV27980) version seems to have things packed into eight different boxes, which may have more than one character plus scenery pieces - they are basically the same as those in the pictures on the HLJ page.
The swimsuit figures seem to be in different colours, too /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

Tables, Chairs, TV, Playstation, Saki leaning on Kousaka. They are two different sets. I guess you can think of one as an expansion of the other. Also different colors on some of the character models

the one on the site is a preorder for the US version. they're a distributor so we can't buy from them.
the one i bought is the japanese version in the limited edition box.... the one for $300bucks. the US version is being improved. it has a different sword and a fixed hair piece (apparently SE didn't like what they did). I like the look of the US version better. I know the SE site is selling the variant parts, but i don't have a japanese address so i'm looking for an importing that will be carrying it. but it annoys me that the second editions looks better than the first editions, especially since i paid so much for it.

This Shinku doll can only be purchased (limited edition of course) via the January issue of Animage magazine. The doll is priced 15,000 Yen. Judging by the price (the one you linked is coincidental also price 15,000 Yen and looks similar in terms of production) I´d say the Suigintou doll you linked to is a similar limited mail-in order type of thing (I can´t find any note wether this one will be available via Animage as well though on the picture you linked).
I know that wasn´t much help.
Edit: Also worth mentioning Animate is going to sell in early 2006 (pre-order deadline is 31st January) this kawaii Rozen Maiden figure collection (http://www.chara-ani.com/ditails.asp?prdid=K42510001) for 5,000 Yen.

Looking at the information, the Sugin Tou doll was last year. It says 5/2005 on the scan. Which mean, "good luck on finding it now". You can probably search around Y!J auctions for it.

I haven't heard of any offficial suitcases, but I've seen a bunch of various customs up for sale on Y!J. Sweet mother of Jesus, that's incredible. I wasn't too entranced by the previous two Negima figures, but the dark mistress has the power to cloud men's minds. Plus, that sculpting for her hair is completely outrageous. I must own it. Bet this thing is going to look unbelievable in person.

I've already got the previously announced Asuna and Konoka figures on preorder and I'll definately be picking up the Evangeline one. I'm guessing that they're going to be releasing two such figures each month? If so, I'll be getting Setsuna, Kazumi, Nodoka and Yue aside from the ones I already mentioned. I wish I had the money to get all of them except that Negima has way too many characters.

Mangaoh lists (http://www.mangaoh.co.jp/info/info_m.php) that the February issue of Dengeki Comics Gao! comes with a Ren (from PEACH-PIT's DearS) Mini Figure. Anyone may have seen pictures of that one? I checked the Official site for Gao! but they don´t list the February issue yet.

Volks (http://www.volks.co.jp/jp/event/dolpa14/index.aspx) has announced a Shinku doll out of their Super Dollfie line. For those fellow PEACH-PIT fans that have a little too much money left, the Shinku doll (http://ishop.tbs.co.jp/tbs/special/rozen-maiden/index.html) can be bought for the price of 102,900 Yen (incl. tax). For those pre-ordering the doll at TBS´ official store, an autograph by PEACH-PIT will be attached as well.

Announced in the back of robot4 a Gashapon set for the heroes and heroines of the stories serialized in Range Murata´s robot will be released by Vice and movic. robot figure collection Vol. 1 is slated for a February release:
robot figure collection vol. 1
Release: 2006/02 | Price: 500 Yen (incl. tax) per figure
6 Figures in totall | Size: 6-11cm
Consists of:
1) Figure of Range Murata´s GROUNDPASS DRIVE
2) Figure of Hiroyuki Asada´s PEZ & Hot Strawberry
3) Figure of Shou Tajima´s Planetarium no Tenshi
4) Figure of HACCAN's EVENTYP
5) Figure of Maeshima Shigeki´s DRAGON FLY *wai*
6) Figure of Suzuhito Yasuda´s EVON & IVORY
Also GAINAX´s site for the Evangelion 10th Anniversary project Shito XX (Double X) (http://www.gainax.co.jp/goods/angel_xx/) had an update announcing the designs for the next angel Armisael-XX (http://www.gainax.co.jp/goods/angel_xx/angel_16.html). As much as I love Yoshizaki Mine designs...the only one that has peaked my interest which I plan to buy is Sachiel-XX so far (also maybe Lilith, depending how the final product will look like).
Speaking of Evangelion, jp hobby company Medicom (http://www.medicomtoy.co.jp/) announced two doll versions of heroines Rei and Asuka out of their "Real Action Heroes" line. Rather high in price (but Medicom dolls are also high quality products), Amazon.jp lists them her:
Rei Ayanami (Plugsuite Ver.) (http://www.amazon.co.jp/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000CRJN04/qid=1134901972/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_2_1/249-4778631-2206716)

this item is not being distributed by diamond, that's why it's not in the diamond previews. and like diamond, that preorder cut off date is for retailers. i pre-ordered mine from Toylet (http://store.toylet.net/20097128.html) and they said they still had more extra on order.

I couldn't find the other thread even using search, so I hope nobody minds my asking here.
I ordered Kasukabe Saki Cosplay from Genshiken, Hazuki 1/6 from Tsukuyomi, and Becky and Mesousa from Pani Poni Dash. All were shipped using SAL. It's been 2 weeks since it left.
I live in California. I'm wondering on average how long it has taken for HLJ to ship to west coast USA? I know it varies, but an average will suffice.
I'd like to know when to expect them, also would be good reference for in the future if I want to deciede if EMS Is worth it.
Thanks.

Volks sells their premium Doll line in the US as well. That's why http://www.volks.co.jp/ points to an english page with a shopping cart in english and why the http://www.volksusa.com/ site was opened up.

From GAINAX´s site for Shito XX (Double X):
"CODE:BE is a translucent (clear) version of Lilith XX and will be released as the 4th Angel out of the Shito XX (Double X) series."
Furthermore it appears to be sold via the Official Evangelion Store (http://www.evastore.jp/index.cgi?rm=detail&id=965&genre=&page=&key=&8%A1% E04=2%A1%DE0). If I understood that correctly the CODE:BE figure is sold sort as a commemoration release for the GAINAX´s newly opened Evangelion store, so it is supposed to be an exclusive.
However chances are high that the figure will appear on the Yahoo! Auctions Japan sooner or later after its release (scheduled for March 2006) as well ^_~

I contacted toylet when i placed my order after seeing it and they will adjust the price of the meg, they told me the one on the site was the domestic version. Originally they had the price based on import version. sorry i forgot to mention that, but they told me they would contact me with the new price with their next update.
as for items not making it into previews, it's just like any business i would think. If diamond doesn't want to sell it, they won't put it in their preview. yamato usa does have a list of retailers and distributors they sell to, so their merchandise will get around even if diamond doesn't sell it.

...I suppose the "NSFW" tag can take a different meaning in this thread as my wallet suffers every time I view it. Also, I really do wish Mega House would continue their Bleach PVC line.

Did they stop it? The Bleach line, that is.
I really like the stuff Megahouse has been putting out lately. On my shelf alone, I have Megahouse's Luffy, Nami, Zoro, Nico Robin, Sanji, Vivi, Ussopp and Chopper, Tashigi, Ace figures with Smoker, Bellemere, and Nami v2 coming. Also have Rukia and Renji. I have the Pretty Cure (first season) Cure Black and Cure White, also Pretty Cure Max Heart Cure Black and Whiet and Shiny Luminious.
That's a hell of a lot of Megahouse figures.

So now that it's out I finally found pics of the Layla fig, which you can see here (http://hinatatiki.web.infoseek.co.jp/gangu5/hina_reira.html).
Dear gods does the quality suck ASS. On the upside, more money for form|code.

Nagasarete Airantou vol. 8 will come with a figure (http://images-jp.amazon.com/images/P/4757516207.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg). (yay!) Lets see, vol. 3 came with Suzu. Vol. 5 came with Machi. Vol. 8 comes with Ayane. I wonder how many more volumes before Chikage or Rin get a figure. Then again since each girl has come with an animal, I guess Yukino with her bear would make sense.
Hobby Stock (http://www.hobbystock.jp/) is showing a figure for Kurogane Otome (http://www.hobbystock.jp/pre_files/item_02.html) from the game Tsuyokisu. Yes, Kurogane Otome is her listed name in the game (http://www.candysoft.jp/ane/tchartuyokisu.html) as well. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

To Gatts and other experienced HLJ customers; I have on order a copy of Toys Planning 'Yagami Yu' from NSN, originally scheduled for a December release. As of this week they have placed a photo for the figure /images/graemlins/noseblef.gif, but it is not in stock yet.
Today they placed their holidays message up, taking off from December 24th thru January 3rd; my account page states they are not currently processing orders.
Thus, my question is: can I be absolutely positive the above mentioned figure will not be billed by December 31st? I would write them but they also state there will be no responses to e-mailed queries.
It is important for me to know this, so I can divert my remaining resources for this year (long story) to another purchase; on January 1st I will get a new quota, but I want to maximize the use of this year's.
Thanks for any help you may provide, and have a happy holiday! /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

You won't be billed until you get a confirmation mail that it shipped. Even then, it takes about 2 days for that to register in your CC (at least that's always the case with mine).

They probably didn't at the time. Amazon is later in updating information than other sites if only due to the sheer number of items that they have. Just be patient and check back at their site often.

Amazon won't ship toys outside of Japan at all. If you want to purchase from them, you can always use the Photo Japan iStore
http://photojpn.org/istore/proxy.php
Of course after you pay the proxy service it would have probably been cheaper to just order from a different shop. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

It's the fouth (red, black, sky blue, blue) repaint for this figure. You have to consider that they don't expect everyone who bought the other versions will rebuy this repaint as well. Plus it adds to the limited feel and it's a North American release.

Other 2 you mean. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Blue is the original color.
Red (http://item.rakuten.co.jp/beautyfactory/gfs-011-059/) was the first repaint.
The light skinned version (http://item.rakuten.co.jp/amiami/hob-fig-1954/) was the second and was a convention exclusive. (the link provided is to the cast kit. I can't find the convention pictures right now)
Now we have the black one.

After the Ren figure (http://www.mediaworks.co.jp/topics/051222_gao0602/) (of PEACH-PIT´s recently finished manga DearS, speaking of which PEACH-PIT posted a picture of all 3 figures for the series that came with an issue of Gao! so far at their Official blog (http://peachpit.up.seesaa.net/image/peachpit-2005-12-26T18:25:50-1.jpg)) that came with the newly released February issue of Monthly Dengeki Comic Gao! The Danny Choo (http://www.dannychoo.com/index/eng/) site has some photos (some NSFW) (http://www.dannychoo.com/gallery_theme/eng/gallery_world_hobby_festival/photo/) of his visit to World Hobby Festival. However, the Gundam Strike 1/60 (http://www.dannychoo.com/gallery_theme/eng/gallery_strike/photo/Bandai+Perfect+Grade+1%3A60+GAT-X105+Strike+Gundam/) pics from his site left me impressed as well.
