I say yes. Honestly, I was looking forward to All New Tenchi Muyo manga vol. 7 because I ship Ryoko/Ayeka. I got pretty excited when I found the following pages directly translated from the Japanese release:

In the Viz release all the words are changed to hide the fact that it was a comical peice with Washu putting Ayeka's mind in a scenario where her and Ryoko are in a romantic relationship. That was the original intention of those pages from the manga-ka and they were ruined by Viz's editors. I wrote this here becuase I know theres a slight chance that a Viz representative will read it. Personally, I'm not interested in any half-baked excuses they may have. Apparently, prominantly displaying Ryoko's breasts on a Viz cover here is ok: http://images.amazon.com/images/P/1569319707.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
But a girl calling another girl pet-names like honey is wrong. Personally, this isn't the first probelm I've had with Viz. And I can say I will avoid anything with their logo on it from now on.

I haven't read ANTM or anything so I could be entirely wrong, but it would probably be more useful to know what those pages said in the original Japanese. Scanlators are frequently not that great and can translate things totally wrong, or to fit their own views (*looks askance at Certain Translations that include gems like "WTF" as text*)
Of course, I'm not saying VIZ didn't tone it down, it's entirely possible, but still.

EDIT - and off my list of VIZ manga, things that haven't been edited for homoerotic content (humorous or otherwise) - Angel Sanctuary, Banana Fish, Basara, HanaKimi, Here is Greenwood, Please Save My Earth, Revolutionary Girl Utena, X/1999
The only thing they get a black mark on from me in this case is Descendants of Darkness, and I *still* don't understand that one.

First of all:
From the Forum FAQ (http://www.animeondvd.com/aodrules.php) [ QUOTE ]
Do not post links to places that contain fanscans or scanlations, as these are essentially the same as fansubs, mp3's and DVD rips in the eyes of most people.
[/ QUOTE ]
Second as was indicated such fan scan translations are not generally trustworthy as translations.

Agreed.
* In editing this post, I see that michaelwb beat me to it, but not only are fan scans not allowed here, Waku-chan is right.
1) You are basing the accusation of homophobia on "pet names" used in *scanlations*. Fan scans are NOT the word of god, sorry to say, and we don't consider fan scans to be reliable around here for purposes of translation discussions.
2) Even if we did, I wouldn't say leaving out pet names between females constitutes Viz being "homophobic" either -- and they have plenty of titles that would suggest you are mistaken. Pet names are like honorifics--how and when they are translated is often an editorial decision, but extreme cases aside, they rarely completely change the meaning of a scene.
Someone with direct knowledge of the originals could chime in here and let us know for certain, but until such a time, crying wolf is a bad idea.
