A new month, a new set of DVDs to vote for. It's the Monthly UK Anime DVD award for November. Twenty-three DVDs are up for the monthly, including four box-sets, three entries from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (Manga Ent.), and the two volume finale of Gad Guard (ADV Films).

Vote for the December DVD of the Month here (http://forums.animeondvd.com/showflat.php?Cat=1&Number=1239240&page=0&view=coll apsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1)

An extra incentive to vote this month, will be the starting of the UK Anime DVD of the Year - 2006, where the best DVD of the months November 2005 to October 2006 will be entered into a poll in December 2006 to be named the best of 2006. (yes, I know Nov/Dec are technically not 2006, but in order for the DVD to be named best of the year, without the vote going several months into the year following, I will include them) I may look into getting some sort of framed certificate, or something more, dependant on how the awards and my finances progress in 2006.

Voting Closes Sunday January 1st at 6pm GMT (1pm Forum Time)

These awards are not associated with Anime On DVD, but are a view of what the general anime fans of UK believe to be the best DVD release of each month.

Previous Winners
Aug: Barefoot Gen 1&2 (Optimum Entertainment)
Sep: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (Optimum Entertainment)
Oct: R.O.D. the TV - Volume 3 (MVM)

Well my vote is split between Sky blue, Mezzo DA vol 3, Aquarian Age vol 3, SAC vol 7 and Gad Guard vol 6/7.

But, in the end it had to go to the GiTS:SAC offical Log, mainy cus its a great book, and a rarity in the uk.

edit - BTW, its Offical Log 01.

I put Stand Alone Complex Set, simply for reasons of good value. (I assume the one you list's the thinpak and not the other one that's more expensive)

Planetes #2 came very close, but in the end it was an old favourite, Tenchi OVAs + Mihoshi Special that got my vote.

MVM, please license El Hazzard as well!

Im gonna stop doing the polls now, as not many people seem interested in voting in them. I may start them up again at a later date, but for now at least, the interest isn't here.

For the record, GITS:SAC volume 7 won this month.

That's a shame, I rather enjoyed them but I can understand if you feel it's not worth the effort. /images/graemlins/sad.gif

I might still do it next month, I'm gonna ask around for links, etc. and if I get any who knows what I might do! Was just a knee-jerk reaction when I saw the low numbers. It was my knee, and I'm the jerk :D

No your not, 14 votes is a low turn out for the work put in.

Just shows anime fans in the UK are only vocal when they have something to complain about /images/graemlins/devil.gif /images/graemlins/tongue.gif *runs away*

No, its that on AoD imports are bought more than the more expensive, & later released home market versions.

As the polls are for fresh UK releases, & not older discounted ones, it is bound to get few votes.

Fudce, thanks for your past poll threads. /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

FWIW, the 2 UK releases I like the most this year are Barefoot Gen, Planetes, UY OVAs brick & the Nadesico brick.

When they're cheap enough, & I'll get Last Exile & ROD TV in bulk.

here's the deal, If I can get the numbers for next month back up to 20+ I'll continue doing it. If it falls below 10, I'll stop. If it's between 10 & 20, who knows, maybe I'll flip a coin or something...

Just want to point out that just perhaps that its not that anime fans only care about complaining but it may have you know something to do with the time of year.

This poll was posted in December, which is usually a busy time for students (exams), people with work, people tend to spend less money on themselves and more on relatives (so people won't of bought as many anime DVDs this month). Some people only have internet connections at work/school and thus can't post during the festive people, and even perhaps people where to busy watching the anime they got off santa to post. /images/graemlins/wink.gif
