I can't wait to see this. Not too mention, it is animated by Gonzo which is always a plus. /images/graemlins/happy.gif

o_o;; Well, I would assume that Top Cow themselves will release stateside since it based (loosely) off their comic. /images/graemlins/sweat200.gif

Edit: Typo. I ment Top Cow. I dunno why I typed Tokyopop. /images/graemlins/knowital.gif

Well cuz it is based off a comic. If Top Cow doesn't release the dvds themselves here, they may sublicense to someone else. *shrugs*

I think they're asking you why you said Tokyopop would release it? Top Cow will most likely not released the DVDs for this show, but why would Tokyopop license it? They aren't affiliated with Top Cow are they?

*bangs head against desk*

That was a typo. /images/graemlins/sweat200.gif I think Top Cow will release the Witchblade manga from Kodansha themselves though.

[ QUOTE ]
They have a deal with Kodansha, who will bring out a manga series based on the anime in a coordinated launch, probably late next year. The great thing about the stuff they do with the manga is -- we will be able to publish it here in the same way that we did that deal with Semic (the French Publisher) where what they published with our characters, we published over here."

the official site (http://www.witchblade.jp/top.html) updated it's character section.

Gonzo looks like it got it right except for Sara Pezzini. That costume looks fabulous. It really looks like a Show I want to buy without seeing an Episode. This show may have crossover appeal for whoever gets it here. Can you imagine Christine Auten as the voice of the Tokyo Cop/Witchblade? I hope ADV gets this title and fast. IT almost makes we want to watch a Fansub.

I like the character designs, and hopefully the story will be good also.

Hey rogueman, what do you think of Masane Amaha! She looks HOT! I have not lusted for an anime character so much since Sei from Burst angels. I really hope there is a beach episode somewhere. She is stacked! /images/graemlins/noseblef.gif /images/graemlins/noseblef.gif /images/graemlins/noseblef.gif

Beh, I would rather see a third season of the live action TV series that aired on TNT a few years back. Too bad Yancy Butler couldn't control her temper and got the series cancelled (due to her alcoholism). That was a very cool show!

i'll take this as the witchblade thread. anyways, witchblade has aired already and for those who've yet to check it out and undecided, you can check out the trailer and an interview here (http://broadband.biglobe.ne.jp/sitemap/index_anime.html). obviously it would be useful if you can comprehend JPN for the interview.

Last night, in fact!

I thought the first episode was fine, nothing special and very typical Gonzo. I've not got a lot more to say than that, frankly; it didn't inspire me to hatred or rabid fanboying, and I really don't have much of an opinion on it...

Watched it. Not bad. I'll hang around for a few more episodes to see how the story develops. Also Mamiko Noto in a non-typical role is always good in my books /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yeah, the first episode was okay. It developed the relationship between the main character and her daughter and the emergence of her powers. I haven't read any of the original comics so I have no idea how closely it follows it but it looks good so far. I liked the kid ("I gotta stay with my mom because she can't cook for beans!") and the sense of mystery.

I dunno about the size of her boobs though... just a little too big for my tastes.

It is. As not created by a Japanese person primarily for a Japanese audience, it may not be considered a "true" "anime" IMO. But as many non-Japanese stories in the past have been animated & dialogued primarily for the Japanese, its probably a grey area. /images/graemlins/stunned1.gif

However, most non-Japanese adapted sources are from classic or older, non-current works. Witchblade is obviously meant to sell to comics buyers, its sales feeding from (& will help) the comic's popularity and paying royalties etc.

Is Witchblade having a simultaeneous DVD release in Japan & the US?

tstidm1
04-09-2006, 07:50 AM
It has not been licensed for the US market, but with the large following of the comic it will be (probably by or at Anime Expo).

Jesus, Masane's not only got them "good child bearing hips" she's got boobs big enough to feed an entire nursery /images/graemlins/stunned1.gif /images/graemlins/stunned1.gif. It looks like they've got minds of their own and drag the poor woman around against her will. Kinda like Dr. Octopus' tentacles in Spider-Man 2.

I wish they will do a better job animating her breast when she is dressed. They kind get lazy and make them look deformed when she has cloths on.
