Been watching Wedding Peach lately and I must say it is surprisingly awesome. It started off as a ripoff Sailor Moon for me but it takes self parody to a WHOLE new level!! As a result, I was thinking of making a thread to discuss it's awesomeness, you know? Please keep in mind that I (and a few others) have not seen past vol.7 (or wherever) so if you're gonna have spoilers, please have spoiler tags as well /images/graemlins/happy.gif
And why not go all Potamos style and say n end things how she would, you know? Let's make this thread as much fun as the series /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

I almost didn't buy this series, but I'm glad I did. Hinagiku is ever-cool, and who doesn't like Potamos? I even had her tag-line as my signature for a while, mitai na!

Oh my gods, I love that you including Potamos talk in your subject line, ya know? I really loved this series (except for the terrible DX OVA) but Yuri and Potamos were easily my favorite characters.
I really didn't think that I was going to like it at first but after a volume or two, I was hooked! I was so sad when it was done.

I'll be sure to pass the word on that there are some Wedding Peach fans to the Austin actors. /images/graemlins/happy.gif This was Director Ron Berry's Baby. He is a super duper fun guy.

Can't wait for the boxset coming a few weeks!
I do love Wedding Peach, but it has been a while since I have seen it and it is not really fresh in my mind (that's an understatement) so I can't really discuss it intelligently, you know?
I do hope to find time to watch the whole ten volumes again soon. Until then:

Sorry, but this was Japan's baby. A great magical girl show. The first season surpasses the second in fun and humor, including the OP. One of the top magical girl series to come our way!

You're the first person I've heard who disliked the DX Ova. I've heard that it IS pointless (haven't seen it yet) but still a lot of fun.
I also love the second opening very much. I liked the first one but the second one outdoes it, especially when you see it clean. The ending songs are great too. I prefer the first one though. Too bad it's such a pain to find soundtracks for the series! I also like Jama-P as far as mascots go.
This series is definitely getting some serious love waves from me /images/graemlins/happy.gif

Wedding Peach = love.
Only watched it through once so far but I've been hankering for another go lately.
My only complaint is how later on they'd just ignore the wedding dress transformation totally. /images/graemlins/depresse.gif
DX was good but unfulfilling cause it makes ya wonder why there was never more made! /images/graemlins/depresse.gif

I don't think they ignored it altogether. I think Limone said that <span style='color:#dddddd;background:#dddddd'>because they were becoming stronger warriors, they didn't need as much time to build up their love wave. Hence transforming into Fighter Angels a lot quicker.</span>

Well, it's not that really DISLIKE it... it was just no where near as good as the series. I really enjoyed a couple of the episodes (the Potamos episode rocked my socks!) but for the most part it just felt like they were always trying to improve on everything when things really didn't need to be improved on.

I love WP because it's so insalely cheesy. Of course, I think the fact of that old Animerica thing makes it even more enjoyable. I feel like I'm watching something that was hidden away or something.

Just finished this series last week and it came to an enjoyable conclusion. The second season was probably not as great as the first. I was so sad when Potamos left, you know?
The other thing I was disappointed with was how the <span style='color:#dddddd;background:#dddddd'>Yousuke->Viento storyline was handled. They dragged that out a little too much.</span> But overall though, this is a really enjoyable and underrated series that should be seen. It is funny, playful, touching and very entertaining. Gets my recommendation. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

I think you misunderstand what Sami is saying. Before you start thinking she is being disrespectful of the Japanese creators, you should know that not only is Sami Japanese, but her uncle was one of the original seiyuu in Gatchaman. She grew up in Japan watching anime in Japanese. She only meant that directing the English dub of Wedding Peach was something that Ron Berry took great pride in and had a lot of fun with. She should know, since she worked with him on it.

I've only seen the first season. I reviewed (http://www.animeondvd.com/reviews2/disc_reviews/4823.php) it for AoD, and I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. I'm really looking forward to the next collection.
This is one show I'm glad didn't get 4Kidded, since you know the name "Hinagiku" wouldn't have survived.

My guess is you will also enjoy the second season. Especially since you'll get a good dose of Potamos towards the beginning, you know?
I thank God as well it was never broadcast in the States cause they would have turned the cheese stale /images/graemlins/happy.gif and Hinagiku would have been replaced with Lita or something /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Sorry. I was unfamiliar with animegirl22's background, and I took her comment the wrong way. I've seen too many R1 extras where the English voice cast takes too much credit for their production. Anyone who is part of the industry should take pride in her contribution. It's just that for me, the dub side of things isn't consequential.

I can't stand the DX OVAs etheir. Pretty to look out, great opening and closing theme, but utterly pointless. Not even the episode that brings back the wonderful Potamos was very good.

I just saw the DX ova series. I liked it even though it was pointless. It was good to see the characters again, especially Potamos, you know?
As usual the music from Wedding Peach is awesome! I have a couple of questions about Wedding Peach actually:
What soundtracks should I get to have all the vocal tracks from the series + ovas?
I purchased the second thinkpak to get the OVA, did I miss out on any worthwhile extras as a result?
Thanks guys.

all the wedding peach osts/vocals cds are oop.
sorry dont know the item code... but i think the vocals was by Furil.
I must admit, I adore what I've seen of Wedding Peach so far - season one. I finally got around to buying the second season thinpack (I love TRSI), so hopefully I'll see the rest.
So far, I don't love it the way I love other magical girl series like Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Fancy Lala ... but it kept getting better through the later volumes, so I have a feeling, once I watch the second season that it'll join that group. Of course, I'm a huge magical girl fan, so I'll like it it either way. /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

Wedding Peach totally rocks, you know? I love how they always use love as a theme for this show. Along with the bridal dress transformation scenes, it helps make this show totally unique.
On a side note: which Love Angel is your favorite?
Mine is Scarlet o'Hara aka Angel Salvia. /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

I first realized that wedding peach existed when I was watching the episode of Comic party where some of the characters where coslpaying as Wedding peach characters.
For some reason it peaked my intrest and I picked up the two thinpacks for a good price in march. I'm only just now on the 3rd disk of the second season and I'm having a blast.
It's fun how I can predict things that are going to happen in the show and Be right about it!
<span style='color:#dddddd;background:#dddddd'>like how the senior soccor player is the angel dude who helps the love angels out, I predicted that long before they revealed it to be true.</span>
I can't wait to see how it ends. It's just too bad the thin packs don't come with the Angel Robo wedding peach special. That would have been hilarious to see.

The two CDs that I have are KICA-249 (Wedding Peach OST) and JSCA-29034 (Wedding Peach Dream Collection). I bought the second one just for Wedding Wars. There's a third one "Summer Carnival", but I can't remember what the number was for that one.
*edit*
Did a bit of searching. Summer Carnival is JSCA-29041.

My favoutire Love Angel would probably be Angel Lily as I love Yuri's transformation and attacks. Her "Something Blue" attack is especially cool as I love how her wand appears!! She's not my favourite character though as I find most of the main cast to be fairly boring.
My favourite character would be Potamos as she IS the best thing about Wedding Peach! She's so cool! There's probably no one better as a comic relief character /images/graemlins/happy.gif

I have to agree that Lily is my favorite but the best character in the series is Potamos. hehe

I just started watching the second boxset this week. I picked up the series because (1) it was cheap and (2) as soon as I read the description of the show I said to myself "Okay, this concept is so crazy that this show is either going to completely rock and or just totally suck". I'm glad that it turned out to be the former!
My favorite character thus far is Hinagiku becaus (A) I always go for the tough chicks /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif and (B) she's voiced by Yuko Miyamura, who I adore (maybe it's because she's always plays the tough chick?).
Man, there sure has been some great seiyuu on this show. Chisa Yokoyama, Yuri Amano, Yuri Shiratori, Yuko Kobayashi, Kotono Mitsuishi, and the list goes on!
The other thing I really like about this show is the animation. There's just something I really dig about the early to mid 90's animation. I suppose it's the "hand drawn" quality. The new computer stuff is pretty enough, I guess, but it lacks some of the charm of the older shows.
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the rest of this series!

Noticed in the first couple of eps that Yusuke refers to Momoko as Momopi when he's teasing her. What does the latter mean?

Just bumping this as I've been reading the manga (which are increasingly hard to find, btw) and it's just as good as the series. Was glad to see that Cloud, Noise and the "Shadow" character were also in there. I felt that their time ran too short in the series actually...
Does this series have any new fans since it's now dirt cheap to buy?
P.S: How good is the DX opening song?
