Which anime character is the toughest survivor? No matter what situation, you throw him/her/it into, he/she/it still manages to survive.
A note though:
NOTHING TOO UNREALISTIC PLEASE!!
None of the "they dropped a nuclear bomb on her and the next moment, she's still walking" or "his brain was pumped with bullets and yet he is still around" nonsense.
I'm talking more about how the character would survive using NORMAL HUMAN skills.
To get the ball rolling, I recommend Chirico Cuvie from Armored Trooper VOTOMS. Even with whole armies ruthlessly tracking him down, he manages to get through situations using his wits and skills.

Shu from Now and Then, Here and There. The insane optimism found in that guy can carry him through everything.

Gauron from Full Metal Panic.
He's like Rasputin...except that he lived. Unfortuantely.

Tsukushi from Hana Yori Dango (Boys Over Flowers).
She goes through hell at that school.
Keitaro Urashima. Nothing can hurt him.

I think he breaks the "Nothing too unrealistic" rule that p_c_c mentioned in his original post.
I'd have to go with Keaton from Master Keaton. I particularly remember the episode where he was stranded in the desert with three good-for-nothings, and managed to make it out with all of them. Definitely one tough customer.

Yugo Beppu from Yugo.

Mugen from Samurai Champloo comes to mind. Considering the way he was "brought up" and his background and how me managed to survive and become a badass fighter and such makes him a contendor for this award.
And what about Mullin Shetland, the musketeer fellow from Last EXILE? The guy has so many survival medals, and the musketeer survival rate is something like 30%? That guy has some good karma going for him.
Not to mention Reki from Haibane-Renmei, she ... wait ... that was ... Never mind. /images/graemlins/sad.gif

Actually, Keitaro DOES get his leg broken in the Christmas Special.

Hah, I was about to put Heero Yuy from Gundam Wing because it's just riduculous how he survives all the crap he goes through.
Well if you take Conan or Q out of their shows and throw them into any death trap, if there was a catch to it, they'll be able to figure it out....

Yeah. If we allowed Keitaro then I demand the admission of Ataru Moroboshi from UY. Now that is one tough cookie. Especially when there is a babe involved. /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

Ichigo Kurosaki - Bleach.
The crap that he is expected to do is just astounding, particularly later on.

Eikichi Onizuka. Especially in the manga.
My vote goes to Vash from Trigun. He's got the scars to prove it, and is treated badly cause of his reputation, despite being kind hearted.

Yakumo Fujii from 3x3 Eyes. No matter how many times you rip the guy to pieces, he still keeps going because of his feelings for Pai. That guy's die hard. He'd give Guts/Gatsu a run for his money.

Besides he's not human once any of that starts happening so it doesn't count.

Kenshiro from HnK...---he INVENTED crawling outta hell! (well...except maybe Violence Jack...can't remember who came first)
D-Boy from Tekkaman Blade---Camille had a walk in the f'in park with TEACAKES compared to D-Boy...
Hanma Yujiro from Grappler Baki---So hardcore that Hell would likely reject him.
Bean from Riding Bean---Similar to Saeba Ryo.
Here's the token mention for Seiya from Saint Seiya...AKA in some circles..."The Cockroach"

I strongly agree. And I would argue against any other character voted in this thread. Simply because Yugo Beppu is knowledgable about the world and it's various cultures. He's capable of turning any ruthless enemy into a respected friend. Anyone else void of a cultures knowledge could be murdered without any chance.
So Shuu's optimism wouldn't stand a chance in the real world even though I think he's cool. Same goes for Mugen and his badass-ness.

Actually yeah, now that I think about it, I'm going to have to agree here as well. Yugo proves that you don't need a giant robot to be a good negotiator (yeah, I'm talking about you, Roger Smith!)

Your argument is fine, but you missed the person who nominated Master Keaton. he has the sort of skills you mention, and is a combat vet/survivalist instructor to boot. That desert episode was quite a revalation..."Save the urine." /images/graemlins/knowital.gif

Yes, I have seen Master Keaton and it's right there with my love for Yugo The Negotiator. Although in this situation I think Keaton looks a tad geeky compared to Yugo Beppu... so Yugo gets my vote! But Keaton and Yugo go hand and hand, I don't think there is anyway to decide which of the two is the toughest survivor.
