Is it bad that I like all the girls in Happy Lesson? [Archive]

Because there's no way one person should be able to like 9 different, totally insane women.

I mean...several of them are completely contradictory.

But I have special <3 <3 <3 for Kisaragi and Fumitsuki.

(though I wonder why they didn't just go and name Kanna "Kannazuki" to fit with the theme of all the rest of the girls).

Oh, and the dub is awesome, despite some pronunciation...issues. (Cheetos?)

Edit: Only seen through episode 6, so no late series spoilers...if that even really matters with this show.

Oh, and I discovered at the end of the first Minazuki episode that her Japanese Seiyuu is Mizuki Nana! Which means I'm require by law to go back and rewatch the series in Japanese. <3 <3 <3

It's your duty to like all the girls in Happy Lesson. Okay seriously they all have their good points to them. Truth be told I do like some more than others, but either way it's been awhile since I've seen it. So perhaps I'd feel differently about the girls if I watched it again. As in I may like some more or some less. Besides to me liking the over all cast in a series is definitely a good sign. Well for the said series anyway.

It's just damn too bad ADV did not license the excellent Chibi-Theater extras of the R2-release for the R1-market.

Kisaragi is not evil. Kisaragi is...I don't think there's an adjective in the English language that describes Kisaragi. Maybe there is in the native tongue of whatever planet she comes from.

No, all the Moms are totally hot. I am partial to Kisaragi myself. Fumitsuki is too. I didn't like Kisaragi's rival (who comes in later in the show) but she is the only one. You have seen to episode 6? I don't know, did the sisters show up by then? They were cool too.

Like other people have said, there's nothing wrong with liking all the girls in Happy Lesson. Sure some people may like one mom more than another, or even one sister, but in the end, at least for me, I like them all. Even though I've watched the show multiple times (only what's been released in America), I still have a hard time picking out my favorite female character.

I assume the R1 Happy Lessons (TV and OVA), since Happy Lesson Advanced and Happy Lesson The Final have not been licensed here yet. Sure would be nice though.

You know, really only 3 of the Mama's and 1 of the other girls are really dangerous to the point of being deadly.

Mutsuki: Not dangerous, just overbearing

Yayoi: Dangerous

Kisaragi: VERY DANGEROUS

Uzuki: Not dangerous, just hyper

Satsuki: Dangerous

Fumitsuki: Dangerous to students with letters on their foreheads

Minazuki: Utterly harmless

Hazuki: Only dangerous to food items

Kanna(zuki): VERY DANGEROUS (yet oddly adorable)

Finally finished the set.

The OVA was...interesting. Filled in a few gaps. I was so not shocked that Minazuki started out with the standard "Unrelated younger sister/fiancee" stereotype, thankfully she got over it quickly. She's also older than I thouhgt. And adorable.

The first OVA is still missing the final two episodes in R1, which were not made until after the first TV season ended and not included in the R1 license. Only the first three of five OVA episodes were released here along with the first season.

I completely agree with that statement. Maybe I should watch Final for myself one day. However I have a bad feeling I'll be let down in a certain regard based on what I heard about it.

Ahh, now that is something I didn't know. I'm curious what the last 2 episodes of the first ova are now, since I haven't seen them.

On another note, wasn't at least 1 of the episodes of the advanced season a repeat of an episode of the first season (did that even make sense?)

Okay I think I remember. There is an episode in the original TV series known as 11.5 for the most part. It was an extra episode for the DVD version. Apparently it would seem this same episode is also used for Advance.

Well...I finished Advance and Final...and I almost feel cheated.

 I mean, really. We go through 26 TV episodes (27 if you want to count that one Kanna episode twice), and like 5 OVA episodes with Fumutsuki put forth as the only really realistic romantic interest for Chitose.

And now all of a sudden he likes Mutsuki! MUTSUKI of all people! Now granted one thing Advance did was increase her role to more than "the one who isn't crazy", but still that was just random.

The only good thing about it all was that it opens the way for Fumutsuki X Nagatsuki.

That being said. From what I've heard explained, Advance (13 episodes) and Final (3 OVA episodes) are supposed to be an alternate universe.

mutsuki was hinted at from the very begining from what i recall... how he felt about her. she and the rest just decided to be his mom.

Just the director deciding to over-Americanize the pronunciations. It's the only blemish on the otherwise excellent dub.

That ending was one of the worst ever. Here's how I would have done it:
Fumitsuki confesses to Chitose, and the series ends there without an answer from Chitose. The next season would have a ton of new drama from the fact that Chitose is dealing with how he feels about Fumitsuki, while she can continue to pine for him. The mamas will continue to compete with each other to be his favorite mama. Now that Fumitsuki has confessed, Minazuki and Kanna can redouble their efforts to steal his heart, reasoning that he hasn't answered Fumitsuki yet, so there's hope. But of course he finally accepts Fumitsuki's love, since she's the best of them all. My ending is so much better, because you get relationship advancement without sacrificing any of the comedy of the show.

I finally finished Advanced and Final and I didn't feel as cheated as you did. Did Chitose really pick Mitsuki? I mean sure she made her move first, but it looked like the other mom's were waiting to make their move next. Of course I'm probably reading way too much into. I still would like to see ADV release this in R1 though.
