Hello all.
First time posting here, but it seemed like a good place to ask a little question that's been eating away at me for a while...
After recently watching the series Vandread again I have to ask, Are there any plans at all for a third installment of the series? Anyone heard anything about it if so?
Thanks for any input.

Supposedly a third season is being considered by the director, if he ever gets the chance.

I'm only repeating what someone else mentioned here in another thread:
http://forums.animeondvd.com/showflat.ph...;o=&fpart=1 (http://forums.animeondvd.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=generalanimeforum&Number=1 232785&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1)
"Vandread needs that third season done that the director is planning on doing eventually, but is busy with other things."
You'll have to ask Kusanagi-sama for more info, as this is all I'd heard about it. That's why I put "supposedly". /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

The end of the second season seemed pretty conclusive to me...

I was thinking the same thing, although I could see a spinoff along the lines of Full Metal Panic: FUMOFFU really easily. Hell, the show's practically asking for it.

Given the context of that quote, it's pretty clear that kusanagi-sama's comment was made in wishful-thinking, and not based on any facts.

There was suppsedly once in interview where Takeshi Mori said that he "wouldn't mind" doing another season of Vandread. However that's a very different thing from "planning on". This was also several years ago and nothing has come of it. Vandread can easily be considered a dead project unless definitve information otherwise comes out.

I for one would like to see them produce a third season. /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif
Even though season 2 had a nice conclusion, they left a lot of openings to continue the series should they decide to..

Yeah, that's what I always thought and that's why I had to ask about the possible continuation of the series.
I'm okay with the way it ended,... it's just that I enjoyed it so much it left me wanting more of it. I always wanted to know how things would go back on Tarak(sp?) when Hibiki showed up with Dita, and the new adventures that may ensue after they come back with more men. And I wouldn't think that the enemy would give up in their pursuit to "harvest" what they needed to survive.
Oh well,... I can at least hope they make another one. /images/graemlins/happy.gif
Anyone know if there's a graphic novel continuing the series or not? Maybe I can get my "fix" that way. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif
Yeh, I was a fan of Vandread also. Now I'm just waiting for the bundle I ordered from Rightstuf to get back in stock /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif.

I would also like to see another season (stage). After I finished watching the series, it just left me wanting more.

I believe that is because there is no real boxset that was released by Pioneer, but Right Stuf created this bundle when the 12 days of christmas sale came out putting. They put the 7 individual vandread dvds (vandread 1st 1-4, 2nd 2-4) and the vandread 2nd stage dvd 1+box set together. So, since they created it then, there was no sale price to raise it back up to when the sale ended. Thus it remains at $75.

The manga is essentially a short, loose adaptation of the anime, and has no ending re: the harvest or Dita and Hibiki returning to their homeworlds. There were also novelizations of both first and second stage; according to this fan page (http://www.geocities.com/vandreadstages/extra_stage.html) the final "extra stage" book has a short story about Dita & Hibiki after arriving at Tarak.

I remember seeing the same type of bundle at BestBuy in late 2004/early 2005 - for more than $75, of course. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif
