Every year, the February issue of Animedia - one of the "Big 3" animation magazines in Japan, the other two being Newtype and Animage - publishes the Annual Character Awards, in which readers vote for characters in a number of categories.

Seriously...you'd think there were no other good shows out there, looking at that list. It's the same damn thing I run into when I go to cons, though: you could drown in Naruto and FMA stuff (or anything else on Adult Swim), but Heaven help you if you're looking for stuff for any other show. /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif

I'll add my own 'yawn...' to the pot of apathy. Really, they should have a poll for any current Gundam show and then a poll for everything else. The only interesting one is the newcomer poll, yay for Arika and Shana.

2006 Animedia Character Awards (http://forums.animeondvd.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=1&Number=1245391&page=0&view= collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=&vc=1)

Lacus Clyne's margin of victory by 16,393 votes over second place finisher Sakura in the Most Beautiful / Loveliest Character category appears to be greater than the total votes any other winner received in any other category. Well, except for Kira Yamato's total of 16,542 votes received in the MVP category ... but only barely.
