R1 has Excel Saga, Kodocha, Miami Guns, Mini Goddesses, Superior Defender (Gundam), Haré + Guu, Dragon Half, Shinobuden, Urusei Yatsura, Ranma all licensed.

What other comedy series are unlicensed, & that you'd like to be licensed.

I can think of Ebichu /images/graemlins/wink.gif , Ghost Sweeper Mikami & Doraemon. Any more?

Pani Poni Dash! I'm sure there are plenty of others. But that's what I most want to be licensed, personally. /images/graemlins/happy.gif

EDIT: Ouch--how could I have forgotten School Rumble? I feel vaguely guilty now.

I would really like School Rumble and Mahoraba Heartful Days to be licensed. /images/graemlins/happy.gif

Ebichu: A show of complete genius, it needs to be done!

As for the other two, hasn't the Mikami movie already been released here? It could do well if given a better chance perhaps, but I reckon Doraemon's too big a title to successfully make it in the US to be honest.

Yakitate! Japan would be cool. VIZ has the manga set for next year, so maybe if it sells well it will be part of their Shonen Jump HV line as well.

Agree on Ebichu, but it needs a licensee prepared to do lotsa liner notes /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Ghost Sweeper Mikami has a 45 episode TV series not licensed for R1, as well as its movie which is (Manga).

Shonen Jump releases tend to be from stories that were originally serialized in Shonen Jump (Y!J is not published in Jump). /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

:whoosh:

For the sake of us all, R1 needs the following released in top quality form:

-Sexy Commando Gaiden: Sugoiyo! Masaru-san
-Ebichu
-Pani Poni Dash
-School Rumble TV and OVA
-Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo (closest yet but I can't relax until uncut, unedited, bilingual, top quality, R1 dvds exist)
-Ghost Sweeper Mikami...definitely
-Sasuga no Sarutobi
-Kikimusume
-Battle Programmer Shirase
-Papillon Rose
-Yakitate! Japan
-Tatoon Master had moments...thus should rise form its grave Altered Beast style....
-Dokuro-chan also had some interesting moments
-Akazukin Cha-Cha TV and OVA....if only to see the TRUE nature of Pac-Man......
-Futari Ecchi....just because

That's about all I can come up with off the top of my head.

Gah! Shounen Sunday! I should've known with such an odd premise that it's a SS title. /images/graemlins/sweat000.gif

I have the hardest time lately keeping my Shu's and Sho's apart. /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

I'd love to see this in R1-land, but Top Quality Form is pretty unlikely - even the R2 release (I have the first volume lying around somewhere) looks really, really awful. I doubt decent masters exist /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif

It'll be interesting to see if anyone is crazy enough to tackle Nerima Daikon Brothers. It'd be rather interesting to see a dub of that one...

By top quality form...all I mean is nothing "funny" done to it in the way of dubtitles and the like. I'm sure the vid quality would wind up being decent enough for most tastes. The important thing is the content....and the soundtrack....and the unholy hell that could be unleashed upon the populace via "mystery prizes" to put in a box set or empty box...

Going by ANN (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=1401) and Japanese Wikipedia (http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%81%8D%E3%82%93%E3%81%8E%E3%82%87%E6%B3%A8%E6%8 4%8F%E5%A0%B1%21), the series director is Junichi Sato, though Ikuhara did work on it. Interesting, maybe I need to check some of it out.

01-14-2006, 03:37 PM
Junichi Sato was Ikuhara's mentor/boss on everything in those days, right up to when he quit Sailor Moon.

The show is very Ikuhara, though - his influence comes through much stronger than in Sailor Moon etc.

It has cows.

Tenshi na Konamaiki (Aka A Cheeky Angel) is dangerously unlicensed at the moment, and it should have been since it was produced during the licensening boom of a couple of years past. Past it's hideous artwork, it was a genuinly amusing comedy.

Yeah, after looking at some screenshots, maybe they felt the artwork would be a huge turn off.

Does Gary Larson know about this? Maybe we can get him to pick up the tab...

Seriously, any anime with cows HAS to make the list. (pulls out the list, scribble, scribble...)

No, but one of his relatives is an Utena fan. And that's all I'll say on that subject.

Seen it & found it OK.

What is Tsuyoshi Shikkari Shinasai like? A 1992 show according to ANN (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=2940). Has Aya Hisakawa so can't be bad(?)
