King Record Corp., Star Ship Corp., Secom Corp., and Kids Station Corp. have announced a joint TV anime project aimed at raising young children's awareness against crimes such as kidnapping. The title is "Kin-Q Kids OtasuK-tai", which reads like "Emergency Kids Rescue Team" in Japanese.
In particular, Secom, a home security firm, is in charge of supervising the contents of the show while the other companies in the partnership are responsible for the animation, broadcast, and home video distribution.
The themes within this awareness show are "identifying danger", "avoidance of danger", and "escape from danger". Of particular note is the producers' emphasis on sex crimes against children, but the idea is not to traumatize the children. "[We] aim to give young children the minimum amount of information necessary. It does no good from a personal security perspective if we are wishy-washy on sex-related issues."
The show will present animated situations of past criminal cases against children. The 5 CGI characters, after the presentation, will discuss the consequences posed by the situation. Of note is an exchange by several character about kidnapping:
"Even boys get kidnapped?"
"Get kidnapped, and you'll get stripped naked, be touched, and get pictures taken. There are crazy people out there who are interested in kids."
"And in order to hide his crimes, he'll kill you."
So much for not traumatizing the kids... /images/graemlins/stunned0.gif
