Saban.....Dragonball Z... Is back...

You know, I'm mixed about this. It's both a /images/graemlins/depresse.gif yet /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif.

For anyone confused, cartoonetwork aired DragonBall Z Ep. 10 SABAN DUB yesterday instead of it's usual uncut episodes. And unfortunately, it seems it'll be a permanent change, judging from the commercial ads and Next few weeks schedules.

kinda faulty logic there mate, considering they would have already bought the uncut version from FUNimation.

You don't buy a show and keep it for ever and show it as many times as you want. You pay for each showing of each episode a certain amount, Depending of the contract for the show. that is why you will never see Sailor moon in the CN again, because the license expired, and that was a show that CN "BOUGHT" like you put it.

Exactly, CN licensed it from FUNi. /images/graemlins/horse.gif I assume their license lets them play it as often as they want. That, and I really doubt the Uncut license has expired already. Hell, it hasn't even aired for a year yet. Either way, I'm not gonna place judgement just yet...

I know what you're saying, but a lot of parents still think that the cartoons shown to children are the same ones they watched when they were kids. I remember when my grandparents saw me watching DBZ a few years back they thought that was bad what with all the fighting. Good thing they never saw any of my other series I think it might've cause them a heart attack.

I doubt it. They removed the "uncut" from the "Dragon Ball Z: Uncut" bumpers. And the Cartoon Network site now lists the Saban titles.

Most of those old cartoons weren't even specifically for kids in the first place, some of them have to be edited to be broadcast nowadays. Even ones that can be broadcast without many, or any, changes (like The Flintstones) weren't made for kids. Interestingly, my parents were the first to introduce the concept to me that cartoons were not originally for kids. Go figure.

Incorrect. Broadcast licenses vary in terms of length and renewal depending on the contract. In most cases licenses can be revoked at will by the parent company (I've seen it happen more than once), and the network is not obligated to run a show they've acquired.

The Freezer saga was dubbed SO LONG ago, back when it was still on Toonami. The uncut version usually had change (uncut) dialogue though.

Recently Cartoon Network gave them the chance to go all out and air the uncut version of the original episodes, but apparently... the soccer mom thing, most likely, yeah...

Geez. Does Cartoon Network enjoy shooting themselves in the foot? Cancelling Megas, passing on more episodes of Big O, cancelling Teen Titans right before the Slade/Terra thing gets resolved (which probably would've been a good spot to end the series), and now this DBZ crap. I wasn't interested in watching the new dub, but I was glad it was on. It was like Cartoon Network was taking a chance at being great again, but now they've delved back into shittiness.
