I have been interested in this series for a while and ever since I finished watching Elfen Lied, which I loved, my interest has grown even further because of a few mentions of these shows being similar. Even without the comparison, it still looks like a pretty interesting and unique series that I might want to add to my collection. So for everyone who has watched the series, is it recommended and worth the money?

It's average. The slow pacing in series don't really bother me, and it didn't in this one either, but when it was over I felt like "That's it?" They could have done so much more in the 12 episodes than they did. It has enjoyable characters, but I felt some of them could have used more developement. The story is decent but again, it moves really slowly. The animation looks cheap. For the most part it is entertaining, but when it ended, I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed with the show.

Edit - You might want to give Doomed Megalopolis a try.

I like it, it has a lot of suspense and mystery. The blood and gore in Elfen Lied is a lot more pronounced than in Tsukihime, which is not a bad thing for Tsukihime in my view. Tsukihime has more eye for suspense buildup and keeping violence for a more climactic use. But I can see why people compare the two shows, they're both violent mystery-horror shows with decent characterization.

I definitely don't think this is an average show. It may be slow, but it just adds to the atmosphere, which is just perfect. The story is nice and there's a little love story in there to boot. Plus it's got a nice Geneon release.

In the vein of dark bishoujo, Tsukihime is a very good choice. Its got an interesting mystery or two and a dark, a dream-like atmosphere that pulls you right in and some nice gothic ambiance. And, being bishoujo, it features a young male hero and a bunch of very different pretty women, of course. Enjoyable series.
