Am I seeing this right:
Saber Marionette J Anime Legends Complete Collection (http://www.animeondvd.com/reviews2/disc_reviews/4888.php)
The entire Saber Marionette J series all bundled together for less than $50?? I assume this is just a repricing/repackaging without any kind of re-mastering of improved audio/video, correct? But does it have the J Again OVA? And what about the JtoX and R series?
If that's the case, I'm glad I held out all these years from buying it.....now I can get it all at once for a cost less than what it takes to fill up the gas tank in my car. Sweet!

If all 14 discs were in a digipack... that would just... reek.
I still think the entire series with a nice, sturdy box AND wrap-around DVD artwork is a better deal ($70 at RightStuf).
I'm PRETTY sure this digipack is JUST SMJ, otherwise It'd probably make it clear if it did have J Again and J-to-X.
J-to-X owned the other series, so you should just go with that $70 complete set.

The running time for this collection is 655 minutes, so that would be just the SMJ season only, not J Again or the J-X season. And definitely not R. That was released by a different studio.
If you can aford the $70 I second the suggestion to get the complete collection, which has SMJ, SMJ Again, and SMJ to X. That is a total of over 1400 minutes.

I'd have gotten this myself if I hadn't already bought the first two series; as it is, I'm hoping Bandai can put out a J to X collection. I recently saw the singles cheap, but I'd still be paying over $70 for all six, so that option's out.

Is the Ultimate Saber Marionette J in any danger of being discountinued / out of print because of the newer Anime Legends release?

It is supposed to be a limited edition (mine says # 2923 of 5000). If that is true, and not just advertising hype, then they should not be printing any more. But Right Stuf has been selling them for many months, and they do not have a counter on it yet so there must still be a lot in stock.

I thought the "limited edition" was only for the signed versions by the creator. I remember lots of people saying they ordered Ultimate Saber Marionette J Collections but didn't have it signed, so the Right Stuff offer is just the combined collection of everything in the series. I can't believe they haven't sold all 5000 copies by now.

Is there another complete, or ultimate, collection, other than this one (http://www.bandai-ent.com/products/product_details.cfm?id=281) ?

I was in the same situation. After thinking about it for a long time I decided to buy the Ultimate Collection because it was cheaper than the J to X disks.
I figure that someday I will be able to sell the duplicate SMJ and SMJ Again DVDs and get some of my money back.

Sell the old ones.
Or put your old discs in the new cases.
The double-sided artwork for the cases in the box are beautiful!

I got a picture of mine with the autograph if anyone is interested in how it looks with it.

I never noticed before, but your picture inspired me to do a comparison and I was surprised to find my box is also signed - 4746/5000. I ordered it from RightStuf on 8/21/2005.

I ordered mine in March of 2005, and mine was also signed. /images/graemlins/happy.gif Tee hee!
I think the number was in the 1100s. 1145 pops up in my mind...

WOOT! I just checked and I bought mine 09/29/2004.
The dub is great (only because Brad Swaile and Maggie Blue O'Hara have some the best chemistry ever).

My number was surprisingly low. Like, 376 I think. Definitely in the high 300's. Ordered on Sept 14/2004, shipped Oct 4, 2004

It should be mentioned that the dub has terrible consistency. Three different casts for the three series. The one you're reffering to is the dub for J only.

Very true, but I did not think that any of them were bad, and the differences did not bother me.
I watched, and listened to, all three of them without watching anything else in between. But I still stopped noticeing the different voices after less than one episode.
But that is just me. I know that some people are much more sensitive to these differences.

Saber Marionette J had an excellent dub.
Can't recall the VA, but I think Tiger had a really great VA.
Saber Marionette J Again was a mixed bag, because it was hard to get use to the new cast. I thought Mona Marshall sounded very weird as Otaru and Lime was just a bit too squeaky. Horrah for Wendee Lee as Luchs.
Saber Marionette J-to-X had the worst dub. Very bad casting choices with the single exception of Hanegata's VA.
