Central Park Media announced at this week's NATPE event that ImaginAsian TV, America's first 24/7 Asian American network, has chosen CPM as its partner in launching the ImaginAsian Home Video label in North America. CPM will use the wholesale and retail accounts it has developed during its more than fifteen years of spearheading the marketing of Japanese anime and other Asian-themed programming in the US and Canada to release ImaginAsian's catalog of Asian films and television series.
ImaginAsian Home Video will announce its initial release schedule at NAVD and will appear at the VSDA with a complete roll-out campaign.

Can we expect to hear more about the titles being released at NY Comic Con? This sounds interesting. I hope IMaginAsian has the Darna TV Series.

Is this going to be like AZN or International channel? It was alright, popcorn zen, but everything else seemed like it was just asians doing everything else everyone was doing on TV.

It means, with the help of our friends at CPM, we're starting a DVD division. So, in a few months we'll be able to announce US/CAN releases of a bunch of stuff, from our original shows to Asian drama series, to movies.
No anime on the horizon for now, but you never know what the future might bring.

Is there any possibility of a release for the Korean Animation airing on ImagAsian? Hamos and Speheres look really interesting. Even just sub DVD boxsets would be interesting.

I'd be down with that, as I would love to watch more asian films in their original language. Plus, I have yet to see even one drama series, so...
Please get Drunken Master 2, Fist of Legend, and Pedicab Driver.

Hmm... ADV vs IATV+CPM... this should be interesting! *sits back and gets ready for the show* Popcorn, anyone? ^_^
Anyway, to get back on topic, it'll be interesting to see which titles come out. I don't get the channel out here, but if there's something that leaps out at me, I'll prolly bite!

Hmm, I think it might be kinda hard to get DVD rights to Drunken Master 2 and Fist of Legend, since Miramax has released both of those already. (I know, they're cut and dubbed, but I can't help that. :p)
Pedicab Driver might not be entirely out of the question, but I can't tell who owns the rights. Older (pre-1995) HK movies are some real odd treasures -- we have a few of the classic Sammo Hung and Chow Yun Fat movies running on the network right now...

Umm, AZN and ImaginAsian are two different companies. Supposedly AZN will be getting the axe soon. I never had that channel because Directv doesn't carry it.

Please, I beg of you, bring over the Trick mini-series with English subtitles. I have two R2 disks sitting in my room that I can't watch because (1)I don't have an R2 player and (2)I don't understand Japanese. I've been trying to go off memory from when the episodes were showing on KSCI but my memory's not very good /images/graemlins/sweat000.gif

Man it would be awesome to finally get some Jdramas over here.
I would love to see Summer Snow, GTO, Gokusen, and Densha Otoko get a realease here. Not sure any of those are even a possibility, as I know little to nothing about the network since it is not in my area at all. But um...yeah bring them over /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

Summer Snow and Gokusen would probably be very hard though, because the main male characters in both are played by actors from Johnny's Entertainment boy bands, and not only that, but they have theme songs from said bands. Knowing what happened to the first OP of Kodocha, doinkies doesn't think they would ever be released here because of that. Johnny's Entertainment are doinks. /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif

Glad to see so much excitement about dramas!
Really, there are so many excellent drama series out there, and almost NONE of them have been widely made available in the states, the hard part is picking where to start.
We're likely going to start out with movies, just to get our feet wet. Dramas are a brand new market in the states, so this is very much going to be like the early days of anime, where we needed all the evangelism and fan support we could get.
Oh, and as for getting our cable channel, bugging your cable provider DOES help, even if it doesn't feel like it sometimes. /images/graemlins/wink.gif We're in the process of launching our VOD service for uncut stuff too, so hopefully we'll have something for everybody.
