<font color="green">**Newletters / Coupons</font>
http://www.rightstuf.com/free/free.shtml
<font color="blue">(Q) Can I use my Got Anime membership discount with dvd preorders that are 25% off?</font>
(A) Yes, the Got Anime discount will "stack" with this price. You will get 10% off the 25% off preorder price, resulting in a 32.5% total discount.
<font color="blue">(Q) Can I use a coupon and my Got Anime membership discount on an order?</font>
(A) Yes, your Got Anime membership will "stack" with other coupons (see the above question for an example of how the discount will stack).
<font color="blue">(Q) Can I use my Got Anime membership discount on weekly / bargain bin specials?</font>
(A) No, your membership discount does not apply to these specials, which are already heavily discounted. It also does not apply to prepacks and import items, as well as some items which we are not allowed to discount. If an item is not discountable, it is noted as such.
<font color="blue">(Q) Why is my Got Anime discount not showing when I place an order on the web site?</font>
(A) The system currently provides this information on your confirmation e-mail. In the e-mail, there should be a line that says the following: "Thank you for being a Got Anime! Purchasing Club Member! On this order, you saved $X.XX." Your order status page should also include the Got Anime discount.
We are currently working on a better solution. However, your discount will be applied. If you have any problems with pricing, please contact info@rightstuf.com and they will be promptly addressed. As long as your membership is active, it is tied to your billing address. Please make sure you inform us to changes in your billing address, so that your discount can follow you (and also so your new releases newsletter keeps coming!)
<font color="blue">(Q) The e-mail confirmation does not list the 10% discount for my Got Anime membership. Instead it says, "There was no membership discount applied to this order." How can I get this corrected?</font>
(A) Contact customer service. CS can credit you the discount amount, however this can only be done before anything in the order ships or until it has been completely shipped.
<font color="blue">(Q) Will the 10% discount be applied if I buy the Got Anime membership when place my order?</font>
(A) Yes. Please purchase the membership and use "newmember" as the member number. Your confirmation e-mail should include a line that says the following: "Thank you for being a Got Anime! Purchasing Club Member! On this order, you saved $X.XX." You can continue to use "newmember" until you receive your membership card.
<font color="blue">(Q) I just bought a Got Anime membership. If I want to place another order using my Got Anime discount, what do I enter for my membership #?</font>
(A) Use "newmember." You can continue to use "newmember" until you receive your membership card.
<font color="blue">(Q) I lost my Got Anime card and don't remember my membership number, what should I do?</font>
(A) Using "newmember" is fine, but the real matching is done based on comparing billing addresses for the new order that you are placing, and the order in which the Got Anime membership was purchased. The number is just a backup in case someone notices a problem with the order.
<font color="blue">(Q ) If I move, how do I make sure the billing address associated with my Got Anime membership is updated?</font>
(A) The best thing to do is to update your address on the web site when you place your first order to the new location. In the special instructions, clearly indicate that this is a new address, and that your former account needs to be merged with this one (the system that actually fills the orders matches customers based on your address - so changing your address on the web site will create a new customer in its eyes, without a GA membership). Then, customer service will merge everything together and it should work painlessly in the future.
<font color="blue">(Q) How will I know my membership has expired?</font>
(A) You should recieve Got Anime newletters in the mail every month or so. The expiration date of your membership is printed on the front. If you haven't recieved any newsletters, you can always contact customer service.
<font color="blue">(Q) Does TRSI ship items as they come in stock, or hold a shipment until all items are available?</font>
(A) For US customers, we make an initial shipment of any items that are in stock when the order is placed. For international orders, we ship when all items are available.
This is our current policy for when we will make automatic partial shipments for orders that you have with our company. From time to time we do revise this depending upon the season (during Christmas we'll release orders a lot more frequently, for example) and other circumstances. Right now, we only make partial shipments for orders being shipped to a US address - international shipping costs prohibit us from doing it elsewhere.
If you have an order that you would like to request a partial shipment for, you may contact our customer service department, and for a small fee, we will release your order. Otherwise, your order will be subject to the following conditions, assuming that product is available:
<ul type="square">
<font color="green"> We will make a partial shipment if 50% of the unshipped products are available.
We will make a partial shipment if there have been no shipments made on the order within the last 45 days. This helps make sure that you'll receive preorders in a timely manner if they are several of them on the same order.
If $100 dollars of an order is in stock and available, those items will be shipped.</font>
TRSI will also try to combine multiple partial shipments for different orders into one shipment. Here are some additional notes about partial shipments:
<ul type="square">
<font color="green"> If you have a lot of open orders with us, we are going to hit your card one time for each order that we're ready to ship. The example given above would result in 9 different credit card changes on one day. This might freak out a few card companies or even our customers.
These partial shipments will cost you nothing extra - they are done at our expense. We have had people ask us to refund their shipping charges when we choose to combine their orders into one box, we will not be doing that. What we're saving by combining orders is allowing us to make these partial shipments, and hopefully giving you better service.
There is currently no way to opt out of partial shipments, or having your shipments combined.</font>
<font color="blue">(Q) Does TRSI charge extra for multiple shipments for an order?</font>
(A) If you do not ask a CSR to partial ship an order, then no. The shipping cost quoted in your order confirmation is what you pay in the end. That amount is prorated for each shipment based upon the cost of the shipped items. If you specifically request a partial shipment on an order, then there will extra charges.
<font color="blue">(Q) How does free shipping work?</font>
(A) Only US customers are elgible for free shipping. If the total cost of shopping cart is $49 or more (before coupons), then your order is elgible for free Economy Shipping. All items on the order count towards the $49 required in order to receive free shipping. The $49 is the pre-coupon total - if you apply a coupon that takes the total for the items on your order below $49, you will still receive free shipping.
<font color="blue">(Q) Why is RightStuf's international shipping so expensive?</font>
(A) The shipping method recently changed from Deutsch Post to Fed Ex Mail International.
<font color="blue">(Q) Why does RightStuf not provide an alternative cheaper shipping option for international customers?</font>
**This question is as yet unanswered, if you know the reason for this please post it here.
<font color="blue">(Q) What does the it mean when an item in my order is listed as "Reserved For Your Order"?</font>
(A) This means the item is in stock and set aside to be shipped to you. TRSI may still hold your order until several items are available to ship all at once, but during that time, they will have all those items specifically set aside for you. There is, however, an extremely small chance that if TRSI may have a problem with inventory you may not get your product, but those occurrences should be extremely rare.
<font color="blue">(Q) What do all these status phrases mean?</font>
(A) For each shipment that is listed on an order on our web site, you will see one of the following statuses:
<font color="green">Not Yet Shipped</font> - one or more items is on order from manufacturer
<font color="green">Shipped</font> - the items on are on their way to you
<font color="green">Processing</font> - the order is being reviewed, or the order has entered the shipping process (card authorized, product being packed in the warehouse).
<font color="green">Cancelled</font> - the order has been cancelled
<font color="green">Please contact Customer Service for status update</font> - contact us at info@rightstuf.com, 1.800.338.6827 or 1.515.252.6116
For each item that is in a shipment, you'll see one of the following statuses (these are the most common):
<font color="green">Reserved For Your Order</font> - the item you ordered is in the warehouse, and set aside for your order. Unless there is a serious error, you should receive it from us.
<font color="green">Processing</font> - part of an order that has entered the shipping process
<font color="green">Shipped</font> - item should be on its way to you
<font color="green">On Order From Manufacturer</font> - backordered, and we're working on getting it for you
<font color="green">"Cancelled by manufacturer or per your request" or "Cancelled"</font> - for some reason, this item was removed from your order
<font color="green">Order has been received</font> - part of a new order with us, that is in the process of being reviewed
<font color="green">Gift product</font> - something you're getting for free from us (possibly a catalog, flyers, etc.)
<font color="green">"Authorized for Return," "Partial Exchange" or "Item exchanged"</font> - if you have requested an RA # for this item
<font color="green">Item Returned</font> - we have received the item you requested an RA # for
<font color="green">Refused shipment</font> - the package was refused when delivery was attempted
<font color="green">Item Undeliverable</font> - there was a problem delivering the package
<font color="blue">(Q) Can I use a coupon more than once?</font>
(A) This depends upon the terms of the coupon.
<font color="blue">(Q) Can I use more than one coupon on an order?</font>
(A) No, only one coupon can be applied to each order.
<font color="blue">(Q) When do coupons expire? I tried to use a coupon before the deadline, but I wasn't able to.</font>
(A) Coupons run on Central Time and expire at 11:59 PM on the expiration day. So if you live on the West Coast (Pacific time) and wait till the last minute to use a coupon, the coupon has already expired.
<font color="blue">(Q) I tried using a X percent off coupon, but the actual discount is slightly smaller (i.e. 33% coupon seems to only discount 32%). What's going on?</font>
(A) Percentage off coupons take a percentage of a percentage (% off of the discounted price we normally sell at). For example, a 33% off coupon takes 24% off the already 10% off price (about 33% off the retail price).
<font color="blue">(Q) I tried to use a $X off $Y coupon, but got the following message even though the total cost was over $Y: "This coupon cannot be used on this order: this coupon has dollar amount or item quantity restrictions that have not been met."</font>
(A) Specials and heavily discounted items do not count toward coupon total requirements.
<font color="blue">(Q) I have a few orders that I used coupons on. Can I combine these orders together?</font>
(A) Coupon orders may be combined with other orders which have coupons on them, as long as no changes are made to pricing as a result. For example, order A has one coupon for $5 off, and order B has one coupon for $3 off. You would combine the orders together, at the prices from the original two orders, which gives $8 off. New coupons cannot be applied to combined orders. Items on orders where coupons have been combined MAY NOT BE CANCELLED except in FULL, as cancelling items from the orders will cause possible changes in coupon requirements. Shipping should be calculated as normal given the number of items on the order (for free shipping calculations). If you cancel an order which had a coupon on it, we cannot reinstate the order with the coupon on it later. You cannot use previously ordered items on a past order in order to qualify to use a coupon.
<font color="blue">(Q) How come ***** anime dvd is only 10% off instead of 25%, yet it's not out for another week? **</font>
(A) Special preorder pricing is extended so that we can take advantage of purchasing prior to our shipment date with the manufacturer. The price reverts to the normal price 10 days before the "street" date for the title. Titles from bigger companies such as Disney/Beuna Vista and Columbia/Tristar also cost more for TRSI.
<font color="blue">(Q) Will I receive an e-mail confirmation for an order I just placed on the web site?</font>
(A) Yes.
<font color="blue">(Q) Can I use a different shipping address than the one I used for billing?</font>
(A) No. Even though you can specify different addresses on their web site, TRSI will contact you if you do so. TRSI's policy is to ship to the billing address. This is a policy they enforce in order to reduce credit card fraud. If you want TRSI to ship your order to an address besides the one associated with your credit card, then try contacting your bank / card company and request them to add another address to your account. This will allow you to use the same address for shipping and billing with TRSI.
<font color="blue">(Q) When will ***** anime dvd be up for preorder (it was just announced)?</font>
(A) As soon as TRSI obtains the SKU # for the dvd, it will be added to the product list.
<font color="blue">(Q) Usually the order status page is updated daily at around 7:20 PM - 7:25 PM Central time. However, it hasn't been updated today yet. What happened?!</font>
(A) The order status page isn't always updated at the same time due to system load, maintainence and/or upgrades. The web site is also not updated when inventory is done every few months.
<font color="blue">(Q) How can I tell if a Daily Deal is eligible for the Got Anime Discount?</font>
(A) On the page where you view a deal, an item is eligible if the following text is displayed under the Daily Deal price:
"If you're a Got Anime! member, your memebership discount will stack on top of the Daily Deal Discount price for an additional 10% off the Daily Deal Price!"
When you check out, the Daily Deal item has a red asterick (*) next to it even though it's still eligible for the GA discount. When you receive your e-mail order confirmation, the Got Anime saved amount should include the discount on the Daily Deal.

Does anyone still have January's Got Anime coupon? It's no longer on the Got Anime website. Thanks.
So I finally got myself a Got Anime? membership. I pre order most of my stuff from Rightstuf, so it was only a matter of time. I had a question though. Can I turn around and use my new membership for something in the Bandai sale?

Yeah, until you get your card, you can just put in "newmember" for your membership code and you should get the GA discount.

Ah cool, I'm excited that I now have a GA membership. To bad I didn't wait when I put in my Feb/March order a few weeks ago for Planetes Vol. 6 and Hime Vol. 1. I don't think I can go back and apply the new Bandai discount or my GA to them.
There wouldn't be a way to do this outside of canceling that part of the order and reordering the two items would there?

No, there isn't any other way. You'll have to cancel them or replace the items with other items.

Hi. I was thinking about getting the Scrapped Princess LE boxes from Rightstuf with their Bandia sale. I'm extremely picky about box condition and I was wondering how other customers felts about Rightstuf products? Have they always came through in mint with no flaws? What do you guys think about their free standard packing method?
Thanks

TRSI packaging is probably one of the best in the business. Boxes and relatively large sized orders are typically sent in a custom double box configuration. There is an inner cardboard box which snuggly holds the DVDs and boxes together and which provides about an inch or so of space between the discs and the outer box. It really doesnt get any better than that. And it doesnt matter if you choose Free Media Mail or USPS, your order will be boxed the same.
As for mint, these things are only as mint as they were recieved. And there is always the chance that something may happen in transit. Like the postal truck getting into an accident or something. But by and large I havent had any problems in several years of shopping with TRSI. If you want perfection, however, buying in a Brick and Mortar store is about the only way to achieve this since when you order online you recieve whichever disc/product was next in the queue. It might be mint, it might have a small dent, it might have the disc shattered in a million pieces. The latter doesnt happen all that often since TRSI doesnt intentionally ship damaged goods, but now and again it happens. Nothing is, after all, perfect.
On the issue of Scrapped Princess, the LE "boxes" are not boxes. They are just cardboard shells holding the disc and figures. They are not meant to hold the DVD's the way a collection is. They are, essentially, large disposable slipcovers similar to how Manga packaged the LE GitS:SAC discs+CD's. I suppose you could save them, but they'd take up a lot of room and are fairly useless unless you dont intend to ever unpack the figures.
In any event, I'm personally satisfied with TRSI and averaging better than an order a week for the last 2 years, I think I've gotten enough stuff form them to form an adequate opinion of their shipping style.

In roughly 1000 individual items I've received from Rightstuf, there has only been one item seriously mangled - and given the damage to packing box, I don't think anything, short of a safe, would have saved that shipment . . .
There have been a few minor nicks and dents (3 or 4) but beyond that, the only damage I've seen is stuff that you can't pick up until you open the box (eg not caused by Rightstuf).
I agree with Bullfrog. I ordered the Last Exile thin pack and the Vandread box set over Christmas Break. Both came packed EXTREMELY well and were great. A big thumbs up to Rightstuf.

Wasn't the Ryuichi Plushie suppose to be released this week? I wonder how long it will backordered. It is so cute I can't wait for it to ship.

We're hoping soon. These are in-country, we're just waiting for the customs people to make sure they're not explosive.
Which is fine. Since Shawne seems to be lurking, maybe he can help me out. Would I be able to cancel those two items out of a existing order(they both come out mid March) then simply order them again(making a new order with just them) with the GA discount and Bandai sale?

Just contact customer service for the cancellation and then place your new order online. (Since these are pre-orders, it doesn't even necessarily have to be in that order.)
The only consideration is whether you used any dollar-threshold coupons on the original order or used free shipping, as cancelling items could affect your eligiblity for those offers.

Rich,
A while back, you showed us how to use Firefox's "Add a Keyword for this Search" feature to launch rightstuf.com searches from the address bar. Something appears to have broken that. The search URL Firefox now captures is this (http://www.rightstuf.com/cgi-bin/catalogmgr/browse/link/t=search,c=right-stuf,v=right-stuf,w=submit,a=right-stuf-internati) which obviously doesn't have a search parameter, and returns the message:
"When you are doing your search, you need to select the box (or boxes) in front of the attribute(s) you want to use in your search. Please return to the previous page and try your search again."
I know this was more of a serendipitous freebie than an intentional feature, but it sure was handy. I've tried to find the right parameters to get this working on my own, but so far am coming up short. Any help would be much appreciated.

Depends on what you're trying to do. If you're trying to get free shipping but still get items released as soon as they're available, it's probably best to try to group items with close release dates in separate orders; since you only need $49 for free shipping (Edit: That's before you apply the coupon, BTW), this shouldn't be too hard to do if you're ordering DVDs.
If you do put everything in one big order, TRSI will partial ship (one of the reasons I like preordering from them), but there's rules on when they'll do that (the FAQs in the first post in this thread have more info).

Not sure if anyone's asked yet or not, but would it be possible for TRSI to begin stocking the Discipline (http://forums.animeondvd.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=1239942&page=0&view=colla psed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1) hentai? Seems several of the "adult only" stores have it listed, so I figure there's a contact for the Amorz company floating around somewhere. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Might I offer some comments about the podcasts here?
They really started getting interesting, with everyone comfortable and established in their duties, by episode 3 (the best so far from everyone involved). I really like Marie's reviews; her enunciation and tone are quite good, and while I initially felt that she needed to slow down a bit, she's pretty much loud and clear now. Big kudos to her.
On episode 4, I was most amused by the Scrapped Princess review-reader who sounded like Chris Patton to me. /images/graemlins/stunned0.gif
Ep. 7 opened with one of my favorite tracks from <span style='color:#dddddd;background:#dddddd'>the first Kare Kano CD</span>, and one of my favorite <span style='color:#dddddd;background:#dddddd'>Sagisu Shiro compositions</span> of all time. It's funny too, as I was thinking during the last ep that I wasn't sure that I liked the latest mix of the opening theme. Still, I hope that you'll use the original melody again sometime.
Besides Marie's reviews, I even get a little something out of those custom summaries for both discs and manga. They're quite helpful, sometimes attention-getting.
And, ha ha, <span style='color:#dddddd;background:#dddddd'>David mentions working on the adult titles</span>! /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I tested this in FireFox 1.0.7 on Linux, and 1.5 on Mac OS X, and it did appear to work correctly.
The way you set it up has changed since those instructions were written though. When you do a right mouse click in the search field on Right Stuf's home page, it will come up with a dialog box asking for a Name and a Keyword. For the Name, use something like "Right Stuf Items," and for the Keyword, "rs". Then hit the Add button as you would for a bookmark.
It should work okay then. If it doesn't, please test it again without any extensions installed, and if it still fails to work correctly, please post the version of Firefox you're using, and the operating system you're using, and I'll try to track down the problem.

Thanks for suggesting that I disable extensions.
Disabling "Tabbrowser Preferences 1.2.8.8" which I recently installed fixed the problem. (I'm running Firefox 1.5.0.1.)

So how often are the product pages updated? I place an order and two of the items are listed as 'in stock and available' on the product page but in my order it says they're 'on order from manufacturer.' The product page is still listing them as 'in stock and available.'

I recently wrote to Right Stuf asking why certain items in an order had not partially shipped with other partial shipments. I believed that the items somehow got stuck in the system (the real problem is that I selected UPS instead of USPS).
After 2 rounds of emails (in the first they totally misunderstood what I was asking about) I received this email response:

Thank you for your e-mail.
Due to the recently increased shipping rates by UPS, we no longer partial ship orders unless an additional partial shipping fee is paid. We will send out anything that is in-stock at the time your order is placed, and we will send another shipment when your order is complete.
If you would like to request a partial shipment, we need your permission to bill the $4 partial shipping fee for UPS ground delivery.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we do appreciate your business.
Have a great day!
Thank you,

Does that mean that we have to wait till all the dvds are released before Rightstuf would ship out any preorders?
Eg.
If I were to order 15 dvds with 10 in-stock, 5 pre-releases with 3 being released in March and 2 in May, I wouldn't get the pre-releases till May in one shipment?
Thanks

If you chose free shipping(thus USPS), you would get a partial shipment of those 10 dvds. And if you got them say today, you would also get your 3 in march(because of more than half the order and maybe more than 30 days since last shipment), and your 2 in may. So 3 in total.

If it's through UPS then yes.
If it's through USPS (US mail) then no, because it meets partial shipment standards.

I purchased Eden's Bowy vol. 3 from Rightstuf on December 23rd, and I can't play the third episode on any of my DVD players (tried 4 different ones, they all froze). Generally they want 30 days for everything, but in my experience (and one must keep in mind that the majority of my 1900+ Anime DVDs have come from TRSI, plus I have preorders out the wazoo) they do make some exceptions. Give them a call and explain the situation.

It seems that it is taking significantly longer to re-stock than the nominal "8-10 days" that is being stated generally for Tokyopop manga. I've had material on order since early December that is yet to re-stock (and then be allocated to my order). (This is material that has been released for some time).
Shawne, any ideas as to when the next shipment is due? I ask as the Tokyopop material is going to be the items holding up the order (which I wasn't expecting last year!) /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

I had a question for you Shawne, if you don't mind. I know Rightstuf carries Newtype USA and other magazines(last time I checked). Would it be possible for Rightstuf to maybe carry Newtype Japan, Animage, or even something like Megami? While I know they probably don't sell to well, I would pay for a issue or two from Rightstuf.
Although I guess it all depends on the cost to get them from a supplier and etc.

Technnically, Delivery Confirmation isn't "tracking" per se. I believe Shawne has already mentioned that all you can see are where the last major hub your DC'd parcel has been, and not exactly where it is like the tracking service offered by UPS or Fedex. For instance, all I can see before a media mail package from TRSI is delivered to me is a hub scan in Denver, CO while the actual delivery is usually 3 days to the week after that scan.

It's definitely not as good as UPS tracking, but it's still a useful tool. I have to get my mail from the post office, so the delivery confirmation is great for someone like me. I can see when to pick up my packages(s) without constantly driving back and forth each day expecting it.

Not really! The 8 - 10 business day estimate usually indicates that they are waiting for the next shipment. It really depends to the manufacture. Some are fast in resupplying (Bandai, ADV, Geneon), while others are very slow (Dark Horse, Tokyopop, Viz).

Pre-orders ship out as soon as Right Stuf receives them. If they recieve them three weeks early, then they will ship them out three weeks early. To answer your question, yes they will come in faster with 2 day shipping. However, please note that if you have other items in your order, it may take longer to proccess.

I can't find the original thread where this was brought up, hopefully whomever mentioned it will find this note.
It was mentioned that on discontinued items, we were leaving the 'Product Availability' information on the item, sometimes indicating that it was in stock, or on order from the manufacturer. That's been corrected - it an item is discontunied, that information will be completely removed.
Also, we'll show "Item No Longer Available" where the purchase button would normally be, in order to help explain why that button is missing.
Hopefully this will make things clearer when associates link to discontinued items, or a search engine happens to dig them up. /images/graemlins/happy.gif

DarkHorse likes to change the release dates for items quite alot. For example, Oh! My Goddess vol. 1 re-release was originally supposed to be release in early October 2005, and finally it was actually released in mid December 2005. Once items are in stock from Dark Horse (usually release date or 2-3 days later, they ship immediately), although this was a purchase from TFAW.com (Things From Another World). The coupon will still apply to all of the other Bandai items in your order. I'm curious... how does one add more than one daily deal to a cart? When I click on the Buy Now for an item, it goes into my cart. That's great. That's just one item. That is all I can add, and it says, well, thanks come back tomorrow when I want to go back.
Some of the things I've tried over the last few days -
Hitting the Back Button on my browser... Nope.
Navigating from the Shopping Cart to the Daily Deals link... Nope.
I tried opening a new window on the Buy Now button so the main window didn't leave the deals... Nope.
I don't understand, how does it work to get more than one of them, or are we only limited to one per day period? I've used both IE and Firefox, though I'm leaning to thinking that you can only add one item? If not, let me know!

Yep. It even says "buy now or pass on it forever" or something to that extent. That's why you should always read Dave Stroud's posts before actually going into the Daily Deals section, so you can decide what you want before viewing the pages. /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

Now I know that RightStuff ships stuff as they arrive, and they cant ship an entire order together if theres items that are a month or more apart because of limited warehouse space. But is there a way I can, not really cancel my order, but just make it so that the item will ship with one of my March/April orders(but not make them reserve it for my order) I guess just continuously be put to the bottom of the 'Who do we send it to now' list?

Let me get this straight, you want to remove an item in one of your orders and put into another. Yes that can be done, but it could effect your free shipping status and coupons.

You're correct! Also, the GA membership doesn't have a shipping charge, so it is always a good idea to order it seperately.

Log on using a second account. Add Daily Deal to your shopping cart.
Log off and then log on using your regular RS account. Go through the Daily Deals and add the second item to your cart.
If you do not mess with multiple windows or close anything, it should work.
(tho I will say upfront that this the technology allows for it - whether or not the guys at RS like it, well...thats another thing all together)

quick question. I'm placing an order in the current CPM sale. One item I want comes out Feb 28th. If I place the order on the 25th or 26th, can I ask Rightstuf to hold my order until the one item comes out? I qualify for shipping without it, but I hate wasting boxes. I'm weird like that.

When I received my E-Mail confirmation the prices were still the same as on the website order confirmation, no GA discount was applied to the daily deal but I'm pretty sure it was eglible (Dave states the same in the post) for the discount.

The listed price will be the same, but if you check near the bottom of the message, you should see a notice that says something along the lines of "Thanks for being a Got Anime member! You saved $xx on this purchase". When the order processes, you'll be charged the price minus the GA discount. If you don't see this notice in the confirmation, contact Customer Service to make sure the discount's applied.

The only place the GA discount shows up is in the order confirmation emailed to you after checkout. Towards the bottom of the email will be a line that says "Thank you for being a Got Anime? Purchasing Club Member! On this
order, you saved $xx.xx." If the discount isn't showing up there, you'll have to get ahold of customer service.

Also if I'm not mistaken, since you are using newmember instead of your number then the GA discount has to be manually added by CS so since you placed your order on the weekend it won't be added until the next business day anyway.

Correct it has to ship first, before the GA card will take effect. CS can easily fix this and apply the discount to your order really quickly. Just make sure you give them the order numbers of both the GA and the items in question. And yes, they will be open tomorrow.
The reason why I recommend getting the GA seperately is because it won't take long to ship out. If you add it in to an order with other items. You may have to wait for a while before the GA ships out, because of partial shipping rules.

The GA should apply to everything, except Weekly Specials, Movie Packs, Bargain Bin, and Closeout items. However, there are other exception. The best way to find out is to look at the item in question and look below the price tags. If it says "Not eligable for additional discounts", then the GA won't apply. Other wise, it's fare game.

Don't worry. The GA discount will be applied manually even though your GA membership order hasn't shipped yet, if you notify CS. You can tell if you check the prices of the items in your other order online, compare them to those showing in the confirmation e-mail.
I've ordered my GA with other -way soon- preorders and had to wait for months before I got it shipped. I used "newmember" in the meanwhile, and waited for a couple of days to see the price drop in my orders online. /images/graemlins/happy.gif
Since you ordered your GA separately, you'll only need to use "newmember" until you receive your membership card with your number, then you'll have the discount applied to your future orders automatically (showing on the order confirmations e-mail). /images/graemlins/happy.gif

It may in fact ship today - the notification via email is sometimes significantly later than the updates via the webpage. Since when does RightStuf put sensor tags in their manga? I finally received my Earthian volume 1 today (ordered back in December) and in the middle of the volume was a sensor tag with the paper backing off stuck to a random page. In general, if the order status goes "Shipped Complete" or "Partially Shipped", usually your order ships out within 24 hours since the Shipping Confirmation e-mailed to you. If that notification gets late while the TRSI site was updated, then in the order details page, click on the Package Tracking number that shows up at the bottom of the page, and look for this line in USPS tracking info page:
Electronic Shipping Info Received *, ...
However, this doesn't mean that it actually shipped, it only means that TRSI is "done" processing your order and it's "ready" to ship it out to you. Again, actual shipping is usually with 24 hours since then.
How long it takes to be delivered to you depends on how far you are from TRSI's location (Grimes, IA). But, relax! For most of the times, it's there within a week. /images/graemlins/happy.gif

Is this a new practice with RightStuf or is this just a weird one-time occurence?

Does this apply to a weekly special item too? What I mean is does the item in the weekly special count towards the free shipping before it applies its special weekly price?
Thank you in advance. =)

Really? I know a weekly special item does count towards free shipping, but there is no "pre-weekly special" price that is applicable. So a typical DVD with a MSRP of $29.98 (everyday TRSI price of $26.98) and a weekly special price of $17.99 only has $17.99 counting toward the free shipping threshold, not $26.98.

Sorry, misread this. The actual value in the cart is what counts toward free shipping; the pre-coupon value of your cart.

That's not unusual, happens to me all the time. I think it mainly happens when both orders happen to meet the shipping requirements on the same day (as opposed to one order meeting the requirements and triggering reserved items in the other).
I have once actually had two items from the same order ship in separate packages on the same day. That was strange. /images/graemlins/stunned1.gif /images/graemlins/happy.gif

Hey, mod! I have few guidelines that helped me greatly better browse TRSI for shopping without jeopardizing my stuff in my Shopping Cart and Saved Items. Can I suggest that you add them (after you refine/rephrase them, if you like) to the FAQs in the main post of this thread? /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif
[<font color="green">Suggested Further Guidelines</font>]
This works if you have two different browsers, like any combination of IE, NN, Firefox, or any others that don't share/understand each other's cache files, cookies, ... etc.
To workaround the confusion TRSI might get into when you log in and open more than one browser window:
When you login, always navigate throughout TRSI with the on-screen buttons/hyperlinks, mainly the [continue shopping] button at the top-right corner, and never using your browser's Back and Forward buttons.
Launch two different browsers (see examples above) and log in to your TRSI account through one of them only (BW1), and browse throughout TRSI web site with the other (BW2).
If you happen and want to add something to your shopping cart (Daily Deals excluded!), copy the URL from BW2 into the address bar of BW1 --where you logged in-- and add it there.
Avoid browsing to any page outside TRSI's Online Store (e.g. TRSI's main page, news archive, customer service, ... etc) on BW1 so that Chris doesn't lose his 10% commission if you used AoD's link to go to TRSI. /images/graemlins/wink.gif
To prolong the time you can keep your stuff in the shopping cart, don't leave your TRSI session idle for more than 15-20 minutes, keep jumping between your cart and "safe" pages back and forth.
That I learnt from people's recommendations I once read here, plus my personal experience. So, I hope this helps prevent the confusions/problems; furthermore, this helps retain items in your shopping cart for as long as 3 (yes, THREE) hours before you checkout!

Those are well written instructions and I think that it probably would be a good idea to have them available to anybody who needs them. But it should also be made very clear that this is not something that must be done in order to safely shop at Right Stuf. That might frighten off some potential new customers.
I have placed 117 orders through the Right Stuf web site, without taking any special precautions, and have never lost anything from my shopping cart or had any other problems.
I do use a tabbed browser, Mozilla, and open each item in a new tab, but that is just the way that I navigate any web site.
It might make a difference that I never take more than 5 or 10 minutes to complete my order. There is no special reason for that, it is just the way that I shop. I know what I want before I start to put things into my cart.

I don't have anywhere near that many, but I usually place large orders, and I've lost shopping carts and wishlists with some regularity. I make it a practice to save my wishlist page before starting an order so I can recover more easily.
One other rule I'd add to the list - Don't have an open cart at midnight Central time. It may have been a fluke, but I got bitten once. /images/graemlins/depresse.gif

I placed an order Friday night, and have yet to get an order confirmation and my order status page hasn't updated. I wish I had saved the page with the order number, but I've never had to worry about an order going through before. I made the same order again last night, plus something else from the CPM, and yet again, no order number and no update to my Order Status page. I did save the page with all the info saying the order went in, but I'm concerned.

I'd suggest you give CS a call and ask about those last two orders. If you have the second one covering the first, I think it's better to cancel the first one.

I'm not overly concerned about the first order since it was strictly preorders that won't be coming out for months. If the order shows up, I'll just cancel it.
Yea, I noticed the date, which is why I'm a bit alarmed. I have emailed TRSI and will see what they say. I'm really curious about whether or not others area experiencing the same thing.

Nope. Which is why I placed the order again with some CPM items. I saved the page just in case. I sent all the info I have to Rightstuf CS to get an answer. I'm not concerned about the first order since I can just cancel it -- none of the titles in it come out until the end of May. The second order is more of a concern though since it has some CPM stuff in it. We'll see what happens. /images/graemlins/happy.gif

There's a number of orders stuck on the web site due to problems with how the items were entered into the system. Your order may be among them - I'll work with Shawne on Monday and help him fix the glitches. There's no wide-spread problem that I can see beyond a select group of orders.
Once fixed, you'll receive order confirmations for all of the orders, and you may need to cancel one if it was placed more than once. This will not effect an order's eligibility for a coupon - if the site let you enter it during checkout, it will be honored.

IIRC, it happened once before, but nothing serious or something that can't be fixed within a day or two. Just as Rich said, once it's soon fixed all the pending events (e.g. order confirmation e-mails) will resume processing. Ok, I seem to have something odd happening with a shipment. I made two orders during the Bandai sale and due to backordering the orders have been coming to me in different shipments. What's weird is that of the three shipments that have gone out so far, the middle one has still not shown up. What I mean is this:
Using my order history and the tracking, the first shipment (single DVD) was shipped Feb 17th and it showed up Feb 22nd. The next shipment (single DVD) says it was shipped Feb 21 but the tracking says it was last seen Feb 23 in DES MOINES, IA. The third shipment (three DVD's and a book) shipped Feb 24th and showed up this morning.
Any idea what's up with that middle package? I figure the problem is the USPS but I'm not sure when I should start worrying enough to start hunting for the package and/or contact Rightstuf directly about it. I'm sure I'll wait at least four to six weeks (or however long they advise people do wait these days) but does anyone have any thoughts on this?
PS: I love the tracking numbers - nice addition to the orders /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Geneon (OUCH!)
ADV Films (ok, I'd definetly die from this one, but not as bad as...)
FUNIMATION (Around 280.00 with 40%off...yikes...)
Animeigo (I know this just happened, but I need the UY movies..)
Viz (Fushigi Yugi would hurt..but I wouldn't die..no, wait, yes I would)
Buena Vista/Disney (have they ever even done this sale?? I want Nausicaa and those movies..)
Hentai Sales (please do these for a while! I'm 13 so I can't and don't want to buy a thing!)
Bandai (Again this JUST happened but I must have Bebop and Scrapped Princess)
So, in summary, hold of on Funimation, ADV and Tokyopop for a while please! I need to save up some dough! At least till March 29th anyway!

I have to say that I'm slightly disappointed in Rightstuf. The last two orders I've placed have immediately gone to backorder. Including one that had pre-orders that immediately went to backorder on the day they were supposed to come out.
I just wish there was a way to indicate when they expect them to come back in, besides the 8-10/20+ business days.

Depending on the studio, the ability to deliver titles to Rightstuf in a timely manner can be highly variable.
Dark Horse can / does take weeks (more than 4 on occasion) to deliver material to Rightstuf after the nominal street date.
Tokyopop is much better, however is taking / has taken nearly three months to deliver an already published title to Rightstuf for one of my orders. (order placed 2 December).
Viz is anywhere from on the day (rare) to 4 weeks later (also rare), with the bulk (in my experience) falling 1-2 weeks past the release date.
DRMaster I've found to delay, delay, delay, and for variation, to delay their releases, and even having actually passed the release date, to continue to delay getting product to Rightstuf.
I don't order enough from the other suppliers to be able to really comment. (A smattering of titles, usually not the title that delays my order shipping).

Why does RightStuf keep sending me emails that say "we're working on it" for titles that aren't even near their respective release dates? For example, I just got one today about Mai Hime which it says comes out March 28th. That's an entire month away, making (imo) that email superfluous.
It's kinda frustrating, especially since I am awaiting some orders that should have shipped by now (but haven't), and instead I just get an email telling me that a dvd that doesn't come out for another month isn't shipping yet (of course it isn't).
I'm just curious why I'm getting these emails in the first place.

I actually see them a good sign that the order is still "alive" there -- although I never lost any, even when those e-mails stopped (IIRC after the third one) for a three-month early preorders order! I eventually got it even earlier than the latest release date of those preorders! /images/graemlins/happy.gif

Both titles won't be out until May. The 8-10 business days is there placement holder statues for out of stock items. It should actually be under pre-order in this case, but I've seen this before with another item in the past. They'll probably fix the status in a few days.

Not uncommon, quite the fashion when it comes to studio sales. Restock time varies, depending on how fast they get in an order to the distributor and how fast the distributor can ship them more DVDs.

As a general rule, if you order any time after the first day or two of a studio sale, anything that you order that's already been released will be backordered. For most studios, restocking doesn't take very long, but, of course, stock is allocated in the order that people ordered.
Some people actually count on that, and wait to order on the last day of a sale. /images/graemlins/catgirl0.gif

No, it would be nice, but you can't combine coupons (the studio sales count as coupons).
As stated here. (http://www.rightstuf.com/customer/faq.shtml#cs)
"How many coupons can I use with my order?
You can only use one coupon per order (Yes, that means no paying using all of your friends' $4 rebate coupons.)"
But your Got Anime discount still applies on studio sales.

I just saw the latest set of Funimation solicitations and Negima was listed. The only problem is that the limited edition is listed at only 10% off MSRP while the DVD by itself is listed at the usual 25% off.
Any idea what's up?
Hmmm, it also looks like the release date isn't set right for the LE which might be the reason for the discount difference

On the 21st of February I placed a manga order. Two of the titles had dates of Feb 28. I just checked on the titles today and one now has a date of March 22 and the other March 15. My order status page doesn't list that though. That might be a nice feature to add, since I just thought they were on a regular backorder.

This isn't a real big deal but, Planetes 6 is reserved for my order. Now the problem is that it's the last item in my order everything else has been shipped.
So I don't fully understand why it's reserved and didn't ship out 2 days ago when it came in stock? Basically, I'm worried it's going to be added to a "seperate order" specifically the Manga Sale items I ordered.
Or for some odd reason is the shipping delayed for 2-4 days?

You're correct! Also, the GA membership doesn't have a shipping charge, so it is always a good idea to order it seperately.

Yeah, I had this problem recently myself, and found purchasing the renewal to work fine. Just make sure you put the renewal in a separate order to ensure it ships quickly.
I'm not really sure on wether the renewal renews your membership using the original date or the date when the renewal was purchased. Can Shawne or Rich comment on this?

This was an issue before, and people reported BOTH happening. Rich said it should add a year from order date, if you order after it expires. Of course, if you order before it expires, it should add a year from expiration date -- in other words, whichever is later.
Still, since some people posted that this was not the case for them (and others that it was), I just ordered a new one to avoid any trouble. I probably didn't need to, but it was just easier that way. Although I guess it makes more work for Rich and company /images/graemlins/sweat000.gif
