Just spotted the trailer for this anime over on apple.com. Anyone know anything about it?

Japan. It's never said whether Warner Bros (US) will bring it stateside. Though it says they have an option to the international rights. So maybe...

Again from ANN (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=6204), "According to Animaxis, Warner Bros. will be handling worldwide distribution of the Brave Story movie." So I think it's clear they do have R1 rights - or at least options - but perhaps they don't have any actual plans as of yet.
