An almost-forgotten character.
Sakuya (http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=sakuya+tenchi&btnG=Google+Search&sa =N&tab=wi) of Tenchi in Tokyo (Shin Tenchi Muyo).
She is a rather clean and cute character-design.
I'm rewatching it today and it's turning out to be a marathon since, well, i got nothing better to do today until later tonite. The show still sucks, but it's quirky kewl enough and I'm feeling nostalgic about it. /images/graemlins/relief.gif
And Yamerarenai, Yamerarenai still r0x! /images/graemlins/sweat200.gif

I was thinking of rewatching this series recently (for a variety of reasons, been a while since I last seen it and also wanted to verify some English dub information), so I just might go ahead and do that, after I finish the new volumes of Tutu, KStar, and Loki I get this week.
As for Sakuya, I was pretty indifferent as far as her character is concerned (not really a favorite of mine, and I found Yugi to be a little more interesting to be honest), but she is very cute. Voiced by Mayumi Iizuka and Julie Maddalena too. /images/graemlins/happy.gif

Seconded. I was just thinking the other day how much detail and attention they put into her character, while making the other girls comparatively dull and complacent in that particular show. While it was nice to see Ryoko going all-out later on, Sakuya was still very much the star of that show. Add to it that she was able to bring out a side in Tenchi we only got to see brief glimpses of in the latter two movies, and I'm ready to declare her a winner.
I'm not ready to declare Tenchi in Tokyo the best of the franchise though, but then again the OAVs have taken on a whole new life in the last couple years.

I've only been able to buy a few discs so far, but Tenchi in Tokyo isn't nearly as bad as I'd heard. I like it a lot, actually.

Sakuya is my personal favorite of all the girls in any tenchi show... 2nd would be Tsunami then Misao.

I remember when this show aired on Toonami back in Fall 2000. I even got my little sister into it, although she only watched one episode and never watched it again. I still remember when I first saw Ryo-Ohki's mecha form and I was like "What the fuck?"

Mecha Ryo-Ohki kicks ass.
Wow. Lotta love in here for the Tenchi series that most people hate. /images/graemlins/wink.gif
I marathoned this show not too long ago as well. I always liked Sakuya, and besides the designs of the original cast looking a bit..... off (especially Sasami for some reason) I always enjoyed the show too. Watching Tenchi now reminds me of how bad some of the more cookie-cutter harem shows have gotten in the last couple of years.
