Thanks, Dagger! (BTW, nice pick /images/graemlins/happy.gif)
For my 9th Round pick I chose to add even more muscle to my team by selecting Jun Fudoh from Go Nagai's excellent series The Devil Lady .

Alucard is busy having himself a feast on the blood splattering from within the cage that has the ladies trapped inside (Skuld made sure to put something in the cage to collect splattered blood so Alucard could fill up a glass of blood for a refreshing drink). That left only Wolfwood to defend the bar from the ecchi destroyers' advances. Just then two more ladies show up for Suguru to play with. Haruka Shitow and Fujiko Mine have joined the LBJ (Lusty, Busty, and Jolly) Bar and serve Suguru up some service /images/graemlins/noseblef.gif /images/graemlins/noseblef.gif /images/graemlins/noseblef.gif before they leave him some videos to watch as they join the battle. Haruka goes to help Wolfwood with combating the other girls while Fujiko goes after Mahoro and proceeds to get dirty with her. Wolfwood leaves Haruka to fight the girls from the ecchi destroyers while he finds a way to release the bar ladies from Skuld's cage.

Jun Fudou walks in on the girls' karaoke session and joins them for the singing party. Jun is happy to get out at play for a while as her modeling job keeps her busy. Michelle manages to find one of her magazine covers in the stack of books she picked up for the girls. After the all-night karaoke session, the girls returned to the base, got some sleep, and returned to work on upgrading Noa's Labor.

Is it just me or is the draft pretty boring this year? It's going so fast that nobody really comments on the picks or banters... It's almost like we're just going through the motions. /images/graemlins/relief.gif
I'll go ahead and grab Tanya Natdhipytadd of Battle Athletes Victory.

TnAdct1: For my next pick in the draft, I’m going with someone who is a genius. Already graduating from a college-level school at a young age, this person is now teaching class at a Japanese school and is very popular with the female students that are in the homeroom that my pick teaches in.
(Nodoka pops up from backstage)
Nodoka: Um, I thought you weren’t allowed to draft Negi-sensei since you’ve already drafted me.
TnAdct1: Don’t worry, Nodoka-chan. This is not Negi-sensei. Rather, my next pick is not only more insane than Negi, but is a female as well. With the 5th pick in the 9th round of the Anime Draft, TnAdct1 has chosen Rebecca Miyamoto from Pani Poni Dash.

One reason is because you don't have a dumb sideline reporter asking people to explain more about their character they just picked. Or why they picked that character.

Nadia was being chased around town when she stumbled upon Rei's Apartment. Hazuki and Karin answered the door and Nadia asked them to hide her for a while as she was mistaken for one of the ecchi destroyers attacking Haruka Shitow, who had started to chase her. Before Haruka could get any further, Sora and Megumi had intercepted her and Haruka was dragged back into the main battle. After Nadia had settled in for a bit, Aoi came into the room with some snacks and listened to Nadia's story and decided to let Nadia stay there and help with redecorating Rei's Apartment.

Tanya joins Sora and Megumi in hunting down Haruka, who tried to flee the battle to chase Nadia by mistake. The three managed to beat the living crap out of Haruka and returned her to the bar all bruised up. Wolfwood was able to unlock the cage that was holding Misato, Ryoko, Urd, Lucy/Nyu, and Lust captive, but then got caught in a gunfight with Triela and is now hurting. This now leaves only Fujiko to stand in their way of getting Suguru back home. Mahoro learns that the rest of the team has taken care of business and is on their way to help Mahoro. Fujiko decides that this is not a good time to get beat and hands Suguru over to Mahoro without any more fighting. The rest of the ecchi destroyer team arrives only to find that the battle is over and everyone is ready to return home.

Rebecca has decided to set up a classroom with the rest of the team and given the team an oral quiz to answer as she makes her way around the classroom. The other girls have no trouble with her quiz, but when the three guys are approached to answer their questions, they don't have the best of answers. First, Maes starts going on and on about his cute daughter and wants to invite her over. Next, Nabeshin start talking smack about having to take a quiz because he feels that he shouldn't have to take quizzes because he is a director. Finally, when it came to Kakashi's turn to answer, he was busy reading his naughty manga and Rebecca pulled the manga out of his hands and started yelling at him for reading that /images/graemlins/noseblef.gif /images/graemlins/noseblef.gif /images/graemlins/noseblef.gif nasty stuff in her class. Kakashi was then forced to sit in the corner, when he was busy devising a plan to get his precious manga back from Rebecca, who had confiscated it.

Also, Beccy-sensei has begun to call Nodoka "ahoge". While Nodoka is already known for using the nickname "Honya-chan" (with even Lina and Lum starting to call her by that nickname), she finds it weird that she's now been given a second nickname (third if you include "Pink panties" /images/graemlins/noseblee.gif ).

RETIRED: Read or Die/R.O.D. the TV is now retired from the 2006 Anime Draft.
Maggie will have to write down the recipes for the different flavors of pocky that are being made by the team. Maggie will also have a part in marketing these creations with her with her paper animal puppets. With this marketing strategy, the girls won't have to resort to violent measures as often in order to sell their creations. The new marketing strategy appears to be working as people are entranced by Maggie's puppets that everyone at the sales booth is using to push their creations out on the market.

Not sure about the snide comments but I have noticed a lack of any really strong themed teams this year. Last year there were about 3 or four that drafted a certain way come hell or high water. This year only Anna's Girl/Boy/Girl/Boy pattern and team Justice (which is starting to breakdown in the later rounds), stand out. The rest just seem like mismash of different characters.
Of course I did taunt many others about their "Safe" picks or verbally abused those that questioned or reacted to my drafting. But hey thats me a little drama queen.

Griffith was drafted in Round 5 last year and in the middle of the pack for voting that round.
After Onizuka went off on his next date with Ms. Deep and left Yukari in charge of his class, Griffith walked onto the campus and was looking for someone to duel with. Haruko seen that he was carrying a sword from the classroom window and grabbed Ichigo to shove a death god gumball down his throat and send him out to fight Griffith. Yukari came over to Haruko's desk and asked her where Ichigo disappeared to. Haruko wouldn't answer her, but then Lain started talking about where he went because she was watch the fight live on her computer with Luffy and the Count. Luffy and The Count decide to cut class and get front row seats for this fight. As the fight progresses, Onizuka and Ms. Deep return from their date and see the sword fighting going on and step in to stop the fight. Griffith tells Onizuka that he is testing Ichigo on how well he can handle a sword, but Onizuka wasn't buying it because fighting isn't allowed on school grounds. After things were settled, everyone returned to class.

Yeah, most teams (like me) don't seem to have a theme this year. However, part of me is wondering if one draftee's choosing of team members is having a special theme of some sort (or if it's just overanalyzing things).
I was wondering if it alright to make another avatar of shana using this (http://shanachan.konosutekinabasho.net/sha/src/1139523200976.jpg) image, as I prefer this one over the one on the draft board.

Yup that's Jimmie M's group, but its getting a little out of focus with the Mikura and Jun pick. I guess they are the narcs. Team Outlaw seems to stay the path but not early on.

Actually, this team almost mirrors my team from the 2004 Draft in that I didn't really start with a theme but one soon developed based on the picks that I made. It was "Girls With Guns" (Plus Roger Smith) in '04 and now it's "Justice" this year for the most part. Justice fits my team for the most part but it won't be all-I set aside my last pick for a favorite character that went undrafted in the past two drafts. I really enjoyed The Devil Lady which is why I drafted Jun (Who ended up fighting for a certain type of justice in the end). Mikura was just badass in Mezzo Forte & sometimes did end up administering justice depending on how her jobs went. The rest are defenders of justice all the way.
And yes, Mikura & Jun are the narcs on my team-Druggies had better pray that they don't meet up with either of them! /images/graemlins/wink.gif

No team theme here really. I was going with 'Leading Ladies' but I kinda got off that by drafting a male /images/graemlins/shy00000.gif. However, I may still stick by the Leading Lady theme since Yuki is close enough /images/graemlins/sdsmiley.gif

Batou had just returned to the garage after getting beat up by Faye and Priss for interfering with their catfight. Sesshomaru arrives at the garage telling Batou about the group of fighters that Robin is training and how he thinks that he might do better than her. Batou takes him to see Robin and Robin agrees to let Sesshomaru take over training exercises for a while because she needs some rest. As Sesshomaru starts training Naruto, Joe, Jo, and Nausicaa, Faye and Priss watch from the bushes and become entranced by his looks. But this entrancement only leads to another catfight as they fight over who gets to go after him first.

A future Guild leader, Dio will become yet another of Washu's apprentices that will be responsible for conquering the world while Washu plays the role of shadow ruler. To celebrate Dio's arrival, Ed, Chrono, Yusuke, and Sanosuke decide to take him out for dinner. But this isn't just any dinner, it's a trip to the LBJ (Lusty, Busty, and Jolly) Bar and the guys had to make up some fake ID's without Washu finding out until it was too late. The guys managed to get into the bar easily enough and hook up with the girls there (Ed with Lust, Sanosuke with Ryoko, Chrono with Urd, Yusuke with Haruka, and Dio with Misato). While the guys were having their way with their hook ups /images/graemlins/noseblef.gif /images/graemlins/noseblef.gif /images/graemlins/noseblef.gif, Fujiko wound up calling the police because she knew what the guys were up to and was jealous that she wasn't chosen. The Major, Natsumi, and Asuka arrive to take these guys home, where Washu is waiting to do something bad to them because she found out about the fake ID's.

I wonder why he hasn't drafted himself yet?
Mai from Popotan is the sixth contestant to enter the swimsuit competition and doesn't have a particular judge that she is trying to impress. Brandon is to busy in melon heaven, while Char and Madoka are enjoying some iced tea under the umbrella. That leaves only Shigure to go after, but he already has Lafiel and Rosette fighting over him. Also, not knowing when she may have to leave again is not helping her in trying to woo over a certain judge into voting for her. So Mai vows to do her best and not get discouraged and joins the fight for Shigure against Lafiel and Rosette.

heahaehaehhae, I'm not gonna pull myself into the draft this year since I'm not sure if there will be a future one or if I can participate again. Therefore, I want to choose some of my favorite characters and my next pick will be very unique for my team.
I like to think players do more experimentation in the late rounds, what, with the majority of the popular characters already taken. That, or they just have no clue who to take.
Yep.
So after some attempts at thinking, I decide to take up another untested character. Another favorite actually. What’s great about her is that she’s a maid! You can’t top that.
For my penultimate pick, I draft Cyberdoll <font color="red">May</font>, Hand Maid May.

Gokudo will have a lot of fun with this group as he will be left with Sana and Ed to play with for the duration of this voyage. Gokudo will have to learn to part with his selfish ways aboard the Outlaw Star because the ship needs everyone working together in order to successfully pull off heists. Inuyasha will also be ready to slash Gokudo up if he steps out of line because he cannot put up with a selfish person. Excel and Pacifica walk into the room and Gokudo instantly jumps into their bosoms and wants them to play with him. After getting flung off of both Excel and Pacifica, the two consider making him into food but agree that forcing him to do chores would be more fun to torture him with.

But before Kintaro can get there, Kino and Saki pull up on Hermes and scold him for looking at Tessa with ecchi intentions and tell him that Tessa already has her eye on Arima to be her boyfriend. Akabane is certainly in love with this pick because Seishirou can give him a fight that he will love on the level of fighting Ban or Ginji when they are serious. The two start battling on stage as the rest of the group is putting on a performance headed by Ryuichi, who has formed a new band with the other members of the team that Integra is managing. The other guys don't seem to mind this fight going on as they are attracting a huge crowd over to the stage.

WARNING: Full Metal Panic is one pick away from being retired in the 2006 Anime Draft.
Mugen and Shinji thought that they had managed to get away from Hiruma's football bombs and Soi's whips and finally leave the magical farm when they were suddenly greeted by an Arm Slave, piloted by Melissa Mao, who had just signed on the discipline crew for the magical farm. Mugen thinks that they are f*cked, but Shinji pulls out their ace in the hole, Eva Unit 01 and crushes Melissa's Arm Slave. Melissa narrowly managed to abandon the Arm Slave before it was crushed. Mugen then sees that Melissa has a bottle of liquor and some smokes and tries to convince her to leave with him. The two run off together, while Shinji is left behind. A little while later, Sakura and Momiji are returning from a photo shoot and find Shinji outside the farm and bring him back inside. Meanwhile, Mugen and Melissa are out at a bar getting drunk and having the night of their lives. But the real nightmare is where Mugen winds up the next morning after his hangover, right back on the magical farm and under interrogation for his reckless activities the night before.

Sasuke from Naruto was number three on my fast poll entry card, but enough about that.
Sasuke arrived at the restaurant finding all four of the girls on the team as a hand of the four guys currently on the team. The girls, all having a crush on Sasuke, drag the bodies that they are attached to over to him and want him to find a way to cure them and return them to their normal bodies. While Sasuke has great martial arts and fighting skills, he has no idea where to begin when it comes to matters of this nature. Midori was finally ready to tell the other girls the truth as to how they are attached to these guys' bodies, but they decide to stay this way for a little while longer. Sasuke is relieved to find this information out.

This long narrative stuff is hard. If you get bored, skip to the bottom, that's where the pick is.
Commentators have been referring to my team as the crew of the Bebop, led by Spike, my first round draftee. I've decided that the narrative I'd prefer is less of the group arriving one by one in Spike's world, and more of travelling from world to world, taking one character with them each time.
Before Spike can even get comfortable, then, he is whisked away to the unfamiliar spaceship Nadesico, where helpful crew member Ruri lets him hide out in her quarters to keep Ms. Inez from perfoming experiments on him.
The two have almost formed a plan for his escape when they find themselves, inexplicably, transported to the mysterious walled city of Glie, where Spike's trusty poncho and sombrero (which he just happened to bring) almost allow him to blend in. As he upbraids Ruri for not even trying to look the part of a local, she points out a girl walking by with wings and a halo, and says, If that girl can walk around like that, no one's going to notice me. Spike accosts the girl, Rakka, asking for information about the town.
She explains about the wall and hence the impossibility of leaving, which may explain some of her shock when her Flight takes her no further than the Silvana, where Spike (now with two underage charges in tow) demands to see the captain. Claus, the young boy of whom he's made this request, insists on giving them a tour of the entire ship first, during which Ruri keeps a running commentary about it's primitiveness compared to her own vessel, Spike fidgets impatiently, and Rakka, completely at sea (so to speak), tries her best to blend into the background.
Just as the tour is concluding, and Claus, with a nervous attempt at a flourish, opens the door to the bridge, the group (now a foursome) find themselves stepping onto the bridge of an altogether different vessel, where a bored captain promptly orders an annoyed crew member to toss them in the brig.
The crew member, Mika, scowls the whole way there, while Claus marvels at everything he sees, Spike looks for possible escape routes, and Ruri gets tired of telling Wing-Girl (who can remember a silly name like Rakka, anyway?) that It's All Going To Be Okay.
However, it is scowling Mika herself who will need reassuring as the gang (five strong now) is faced with the oppressive ordinariness of Mabase. Just as they're all discussing how they can't imagine anyone wanting to live in a place like this, and enjoying the fact that they've finally all agreed on something, their conversation is interrupted by the loud agreements of a sixth party, Mamimi. Her agreement, somehow, makes them all feel less comfortable with their own convictions, rather than more.
But, after enjoying a meal of curry at the Nandaba household (prepared by the younger son of that family, since their housekeeper mysteriously disappeared a couple rounds ago), it is Mamimi who will travel with them to Gaea, where they're all nearly beheaded by some nutcase in a giant suit of armor.
The visit to Gaea is brief, however. Spike doesn't even have a chance to put a bullet in the head of the nutcase (Dilandau), who is still shouting threats when they all look up to realize their surroundings have taken a turn for the subterranean.
The group's seventh and newest addition is the only one who likes the looks of things here, as soon as he sees how a certain portion of the population has chosen to arm itself. He runs around challenging everyone he sees to a duel, and the first one annoyed enough to take him up on it is Ichise.
And so here we are at the present moment. The moment at which Ichise prepares to dismember this stangely dressed interloper, while Dilandau eagerly awaits the desired attack...the moment at which Claus and Rakka implore the two would-be duelists to talk things out peacefully (Mika would just as soon they did away with each other, she's tired of the freakshow already)...the moment at which Ruri mutters at the sky, Spike whistles disinterestedly at no-one, and Mamimi gazes with a little too much interest at Spike...the moment that is about to be interrupted as the gang is spirited away once again...
...To a place where Ruri's calm resolve will be tested, Rakka's nerves are likely to finally give out for good, and Dilandau's violent psychosis may (if they're unlucky) meet it's match. In short, to Hellywood, to pick up my round nine draftee: Sara Ringwalt from Now and Then, Here and There.

[/ QUOTE ]
Unlike the other children who have boarded the Bebop on its travels through time and space, Sara has already been to hell and back with her time in Hellywood. Sara will want to avoid Dilandau at all costs as he is as bad, if not worse than the people she's had to put up with for the longest time.
The children are the crew of the Bebop, but the ship is travelling through time and space to different worlds picking up new crew members along the way. Spike has a buddy to hang with right now in Ichise, but he still needs a legal girl for his voyage.

No, actually I believe the way things are being run every thing will go smoothly and there will not be a repeat of what happened last year. Maybe my views are naive, but I'm hoping for the best /images/graemlins/happy.gif.

Let's see, only Narob, Rainking187 and Lamhirh have all female teams, Team Cairber defaulting on a mere technality.
Being the only all female team of the 20 teams, is it? How would their battle go like? This team captain can only speculate because she's bored.
The battle of the maids:
May vs Mahoro vs Hazuki.... who wins on cuteness and pure maid otakuness??? Of course they all can kick butt(I think)
Battle of the adventurers:
Lavie vs Raquel vs Nadia : who has the most experience travelling? By sky? by land ? or by air?!?!
Battle of the Normals:
Nanami vs Aoi vs Megumi: Of course Aoi trumps all of them in feminity, but Megumi is actually a boy! has guys *literally* falling on their feet . Nanami has the smarts .... so who would win? Beauty? Brawns? Or Brains?
Battle of light colored hair
Aruceid vs Triela vs Chii - each light haired girl brings something unique to the battle... but which special thing trumps in the end?
.../images/graemlins/depresse.gif Wow this is hard to do with so many characters I don't know about... /images/graemlins/cry00000.gif
Edit: Hey... /images/graemlins/sweat200.gif I blame it on the chinese homework.

Some corrections, if I may. Rainking has an all female team. As for Jimmy's detective/cop/superagent/vigilante crew, isn't Ken the Eagle male? I never saw the show, so I don't know.
As for my situation, perhaps I can turn this into one hell of a harem. Round 10? I could indeed. I have someone in mind. Oh, that is very tempting. But my sweet goddess Belldandy shouldn't be part of a harem. The mere thought is wrong!

Ken the Eagle is a male. What's really funny is the matchups are with rainking's characters vs. Lamhirh and Narob's characters, but the wrong person was credited for rainking's team.
When team cairber picked Yuki Sohma last round, their whole storyline turned in a different direction where it had been a team of leading ladies until that point and now they have become the new Prince Yuki Fan Club.

Well, Iv've decided to go out on a limb here and draft an R2 character.
For round 9, I choose Misuzu from AIR.

Time to squeeze in a quick pick before I dash off to work. None other than Galaxy Angel's Milfeulle Sakuraba!

Anna: Our next pick for Animé Draft will be-
Sakaki: This cat! *holds up the black cat K shot out of the tree*
Anna: Huh?
Sakaki: *nods* This cat. The 9th member of our team will be this cat!
Anna: Uh... okay... o_o; *throws away one of the draft cards in her hand* The 9th member of our team will be... uh... does the cat have a name?
K: *holds up a blank contract* It'll need one if we're going to sign it on. We can't draft somebody without a name to put on the contract.
Vash: *randomly comes up and whispers in Anna's ear*
Anna: Our 9th pick for Animé Draft will be Kuroneko-sama from Trigun!
K: *puts ink on one of the cat's paws and sticks its paw print at the bottom of the contract*
